The chairman has offered the soccer team to rebuild the shabby clubroom - or shed in this case. Natsumi was excited to finally knock down that old thing and get it rebuilt, but Endou didn't want to. He believed the energy, hopes and dreams of the original Inazuma Eleven were still prominent in the clubroom. He didn't want to change a thing, and this logic of his had convinced everyone else.
When everyone was heading to the soccer field to train, cheers from other students could be hear. They wished everyone good luck, and Park couldn't help but feel embarrassed to have all those eyes on her
"Kazemaru-san!" Suddenly, someone called out to the teal haired boy.
"Miyasaka!" Kazemaru came to a halt to greet his old friend from the track team. "It's been a while, how's training been going?"
"Training has been going well! Are you heading off to practice?" Miyasaka asked with a bright smile on his face, and glitter in his eyes.
"Yeah!" Kazemaru chirped with a charming smile of his own. A smile that could make anyone's heart beat palpitate.
"When will you be coming back to the track team?" Miyasaka asked, but didn't receive an answer. "Oh come on! You said you were going to help the soccer team out temporarily."
"Temporarily. . ." Kazemaru trailed off. "Right." How could he possibly tell Endou and the others he only joined to help out temporarily? Then again, how could he tell his old club members that he wasn't going back to them? He was stuck.
Just then, Endou had ran past the two, but came to a stop once he noticed Kazemaru wasn't following after him.
"Something wrong, Kazemaru? Are you coming?" The goalkeeper asked, not sparing a glance towards Miyasaka - who had an obvious frown on his face. To Miyasaka, Endou was interrupting their chat, and he didn't appreciate that. Miyasaka hadn't gotten to speak to Kazemaru in so long, Endou had no right to pull Kazemaru away from him.
"Go on ahead of me, I'll be back in a moment." Kazemaru responded, which turned Miyasaka's frown right back into a smile.
"Uh, sure!" Endou didn't pay much mind to it, unlike Gouenji.
In the end, Kazemaru went off with Miyasaka.
When Kazemaru got to the track field, everyone was so excited to see him again. They all swarmed him as if he were a celebrity, and in this case, he kind of was. Kazemaru was doing so well on the soccer team, he was bound to catch the attention of many people. Everyone was watching Raimon's fight against Teikoku, everyone saw what he could do.
They all asked him again, when would he be returning to the track club? Just like when Miyasaka asked, Kazemaru didn't have an answer. Kazemaru was so involved he completely forgot about joining the soccer team just to help for a short while. He was having so much fun playing soccer with everyone, it hadn't dawned upon him that his old team was waiting for his return.
Meanwhile, everyone on the soccer club was practicing their heart out.
"I wonder what happened to Kazemaru. . ." Endou muttered under his breath, but loud enough for Kurimatsu to hear.
"Park-chan! Let's go get him!" Kurimatsu chirped. The white haired girl was in the middle of dribbling, but she couldn't refuse someone like Kurimatsu. Hell, she couldn't say no to anyone on the team when they asked a favor or for help.
"Sure!" Park passed the ball over to Handa, before following after Kurimatsu.
"Thanks guys!" Endou called out to them as they left.
"Where do you think he went?" Kurimatsu asked Park as they jogged off to nowhere in particular just yet.
"Well. . ." Park trailed off. "I saw him talking to someone from the track team, so maybe he went to their field?" She passed Kurimatsu a glance, who responded with a nod.
When the two got to the track field, the team was running a race - a team including Kazemaru. Both Kurimatsu and Park came to a halt, exchanging worried looks. Although, maybe it was just a trail run, and didn't mean anything important. At least that's what Park thought until they heard someone from the track team speak up.
"How can you lose to Kazemaru-san who went on hiatus to play for the soccer club?"
"Wh-what did he say?" Kurimatsu felt his heart sink.
Again, the track team was rambling on and on, complimenting Kazemaru and praising him. It hurt the teal haired boy to hear all of that, he didn't like being the center of attention. . . Did he want to go back to his old club? With his old friends? Or did he want to continue playing soccer with his new friends, and. . . Her.
Just then, Kazemaru looked off into the distance, up on the small hill where Kurimatsu and Park stood. Their expressions said enough. They'd heard enough to know something was wrong. Park looked away, but Kurimatsu kept watching.
"Who's that?" Miyasaka suddenly asked, catching Kazemaru off guard.
"Who?" Kazemaru tried to play dumb.
"The white haired girl you were looking at just now." There was the slightest hint of bitterness in Miyasaka's voice.
"Oh, that's my friend from the soccer team." The tealette responded as simply as possible. "Listen, it was nice to see you all again. We'll talk another time, but I should probably get back to soccer practice." He ended the conversation unfortunately as abruptly as it could end.
"But-" Miyasaka was about to stop him, but the other boy had already left.
The walk back to the soccer field was silent, but Kazemaru played as if nothing had happened, and he was perfectly fine. As much as Park and Kurimatsu wanted to ask what all of that was about, they didn't want to be a bother. So, the two would stay quiet and think the same things.
"Kazemaru, you're late!" Endou had just caught a ball. As kind as the boy was, he was still the captain, and shouldn't tolerate anyone being late.
"Sorry about that." Kazemaru jogged over to the middle of the pitch. "Let's begin."
"What did that freshman say to you?" Gouenji wasted no time in asking. If he wouldn't get an answer here, he'd just ask Kurimatsu and Park later.
"Nothing serious."
Well, alright then.
The two went back to practicing Hoono no Hazamidori. They shot the ball towards the goal over and over, and it careened off towards the side or above every time. They managed to shoot the ball perfectly before the little situation, and now it wasn't making it anywhere near the goal. Kazemaru was running out of breath, and Gouenji was running out of patience.
"You're surprisingly easy to figure out." Gouenji stared down the teal haired boy.
"What do you mean-?" Kazemaru - again - was playing dumb.
"You were asked to go back to the track team." Gouenji responded, crossing his arms.
Kazemaru smiled weakly.
Since the first second he set his eyes in the speedy tealette, Miyasaka adored him. When he first joined Raimon as a junior, Kazemaru Ichirouta was one of his seniors, and one of the reasons he decided to join the track team. Now, Miyasaka wasn't the only one who was crushing on this boy, in fact, Kazemaru was quite popular with girls for being such a sweetheart without realizing it. He was accepting of absolutely everyone and would talk to absolutely anyone. That only added to his charm and attractiveness. Anyone would admit, Kazemaru was a ridiculously handsome young man.
Miyasaka became a little clingy, but Kazemaru never minded. Unfortunately it was near impossible to confess to someone like Kazemaru - who was terribly popular. Before Miyasaka even got the chance, Kazemaru left the track team to help out someone in the soccer team. Overtime, Kazemaru became close with the captain Endou Mamoru, and the worst part of all? He had a crush on someone else. She was a new transfer student who just moved into Inazuma Town, foreign if you will. She was not only in the same year as Kazemaru, but in the same class as well. Then she was in the soccer team, too. So they saw one another every day, meanwhile Miyasaka was lucky enough to get a glance of the teal haired boy.
It was so frustrating. Miyasaka wanted Kazemaru to be happy, and enjoy life but it was hard to accept the life that made Kazemaru most happy - didn't include Miyasaka.
The blonde gripped the strap of his bag, watching Kazemaru run around the pitch playing soccer with his friends. There was such a sweet smile on his face, he was having the time of his life. Just when Park Mio waved her hand over to him, he cleanly passed the ball over and she made a shot. Endou caught it, but, Kazemaru still cheered her on. Miyasaka's eyes narrowed. . . There were so many people who wanted Kazemaru's attention, but it just had to be that girl. It just had to be her who he liked.
With a small sigh, Miyasaka just turned around with every intention to run and never look back. A part of him wanted Kazemaru to call out, and stop him, then tell him a bunch of lies that he wanted to hear. He wanted his attention for just a short while. He wanted Kazemaru to care for him more than. . . Than that girl. Okay, he got it, sure, she was pretty. Sure she could play soccer, and sure they were in the same class, but why her.
"Miyasaka!"
He stopped right in his place, and slowly looked over his shoulder. Kazemaru was running over to him. He was so overwhelmed with emotions, he almost wanted to cry. It was like Kazemaru knew what he was thinking. He was perfect, Kazemaru Ichirouta was absolutely perfect.
"K-Kazemaru-san!" Nervously, Miyasaka bowed, earning a charming smile from the other male.
"Are you doing okau?" Kazemaru chirped.
"I'm okay. . . Thank you, how about you?" The blonde muttered, unable to help himself from smiling a bit too much.
"I'm good!" The tealette grinned. "Anyways, I'll see you around-" Before he could head back to his team, Miyasaka grabbed his wrist without thinking. Confused, Kazemaru blinked his eyes a few times. "Is something wrong?"
"I-I, um. . . S-sorry, I just-"
"It's okay, don't worry about it." God, Kazemaru was such an angel. How could someone be so sweet and understanding? "Come on, I'll introduce you to my friends."
It would have been nice if he wanted to 'show him off', but that didn't seem to be the case. Kazemaru lead Miyasaka over to a few of the members by the bench. Endou, Matsuno, Handa and Park. It took every fiber in Miyasaka's being not to glare at Park the entire time.
"This is Miyasaka, one of my friends from the track club." Kazemaru chirped. The others happily smiled and waved.
"Hey I'm Endou! This is Max, Handa and Park. Nice to meet'cha." The brunette grinned, reaching a gloved hand out. Bitterly, Miyasaka shook it. He remembered clearly shunning him before. This was Kazemaru's friend, and Miyasaka cared about Kazemaru, so he'd be nice to them.
"Nice to meet you too. . ." He responded softly.
"Kazemaru, he looks sad, what did you do to him?" Park puffed her cheeks and playfully swat the male. Kazemaru laughed and shook his head.
"Nothing! I swear!"
It hurt.
It really hurt.
It was so obvious, Kazemaru liked that girl so much. He was clearly blushing, and flustered, enjoying every second of being with her. Miyasaka just smiled nervously and played along, until letting them all know he had to leave. The walk home was silent, and lonely. Kazemaru was kind enough to say hi, but hoping for Kazemaru to walk him home, too? That was ridiculous. He was being ridiculous.
Plus, he'd already made plans to walk home with her. That girl who stole Kazemaru from him.
"So. . . Did you hear what they said?" Kazemaru asked as he and Park were slowly walking home together. He already knew the the answer to his question, but he wanted to be completely sure.
"Only a little bit." Park uttered in response.
"Oh. . ." Kazemaru was expecting the girl to start questioning him, but she didn't. He wasn't sure if that was a bad or good thing. On Park's end, she didn't want to make things any harder for the boy, so she wouldn't pester him about it.
Before they knew it, they'd reached her house first.
"I'll see you tomorrow." Park passed the boy a quick smile, before passing up the front porch steps.
"Park-!" Kazemaru suddenly called out to her, causing her to stop and turn to face him. He paused for a second, not sure if he should ask what he wanted to ask. . . "Sorry, it's nothing. Don't worry about it. I'll see you tomorrow." He waved her off, before walking down the sidewalk to get home. Park watched him leave for a while, before the opening the door to her house and stepping inside.
As usual, Kim prepared her a nice snack which she happily ate.
Just before Park finished eating, the front door opened again. It was her grandfather.
"Welcome home!" Park greeted him.
"Thank you. I brought Cho back from the groomers." Jae smiled gently, as something scampered into the house.
. . . A cat?
Park immediately screamed.
"What's the matter!?" Kim freaked out because Park was freaking out.
"There's a cat in the house!" Park jumped off her seat and rushed to hide behind her grandfather.
"No, no it's Cho." Jae couldn't help but chuckle.
Upon closer inspection, the cat was not a cat. It was Cho, who was groomed to perfectly look like a cat.
"Cho, what have they done to you!?" Park sniffled, getting on the floor so Cho could jump onto her lap - which he did. She pet the dog sadly, feeling bad for the poor thing. "Sorry I called you a cat."
Cho licked her chin, maybe that was his way of saying it was alright.
Early in the morning while Kazemaru was on his way to school, he stopped by the riverbank. There was a lone soccer pall sitting by the goalpost. How could he resist? Soccer had been such a huge part of his life for quite some time, and he enjoyed every second of it. . . At least that's how things were before what happened yesterday.
Kazemaru dropped his bag in the grass, and dribbled the ball around, making a few turns and spins, before making a strong shoot into the goal. He didn't normally make shots, so it felt good to make one today. Even if he was all alone, with no one to watch - at least that's what he thought until he heard a familiar voice calling his name again.
"Kazemaru-san!" Off on top of the hill was Miyasaka, waving his hands over his head.
"Miyasaka. . ." Kazemaru wasn't sure if he wanted to talk to the boy, but it seemed as if he had no choice. He picked up his bag and went over to him. They both sat in the grass.
"Are you sure about this? You'll be late for morning practice." Kazemaru propped himself up with his palms against the grass. He stared up at the sky while Miyasaka stared down at the grass - nervously.
"It's okay if it's just for a little while." Miyasaka responded. How sweet of Kazemaru to worry for him, really.
"When you asked me yesterday when I'd be coming back. . . You made me realize I'd been so caught up in soccer I didn't even notice the time." Kazemaru started, reminiscing. "I've been thinking since then. Why I'm still in the soccer club."
"Then- you should come back!" Miyasaka protested. "Besides, the soccer club has more than enough members now. You've done your part!"
". . . My part." Kazemaru muttered under his breath. "I've made so many new friends there, and I began to love playing soccer."
"What about your other friends!? Do you not like athletics anymore!? I'd never thought I'd hear those words from you." Miyasaka seemed genuinely hurt.
"I care about you all too, don't get me wrong." Kazemaru was hurt too. . . he put himself in such a tough situation and didn't know how to save himself.
He wanted someone to save him.
"I do understand I should go back to the track team but. . . I can't." The tealette continued.
"Why are you clinging to soccer so much!?"
"Maybe I am clinging. . ." Kazemaru trailed off. "Miyasaka, the nationals tournament well be starting tomorrow. Can you come see the match?"
"What?" The blonde haired boy almost grimaced.
"Please, just have a look. Then I'll let you know if I want to come back to the track team or not." Kazemaru wasn't sure if he could keep this promise, but he said so anyway. Maybe Miyasaka would change his mind after seeing him have so much fun on the field with. . . His new friends.
"Well, since it's you. . . I'll go." Miyasaka gave in. How could he say no to Kazemaru?
"Thank you." This put a gentle smile on Kazemaru's face.
". . . I'll be leaving now." Miyasaka got up, and went jogged off. He passed by both Endou and Park, who seemed to have just showed up - when they were actually standing there for a while.
"Yo!" Endou raised a hand to greet the blonde haired boy.
"Hello," Park chirped as well, but their greeting only earned a glare from Miyasaka.
"Sorry, we heard everything." Endou smiled apologetically. He sat down on his ball to the left side of Kazemaru, while Park sat beside Kazemaru to his right.
"It's okay." Kazemaru didn't mind. It was Endou and Par he felt the more comfortable around on the team. Perhaps even more so around Park - due to their ice cream run the other day.
"Maybe I've done something wrong to that kid." Endou let out a humorless laugh.
"That's not true. If anyone's to blame, it's me." Kazemaru stated point blank.
"Don't be so hard on yourself." Park pitched in with that gentle voice of hers. "You're trying your best to be kind."
"Thank you, Park." The teal haired boy passed her a smile. "Whatever I do, it'll feel like I'm betraying the other person."
"I believe what you decide, will be the best decision. We won't be upset with you if you leave the soccer team, okay?" Endou looked over at Park, as if asking her to add something.
"H-he's right." Park nodded. "We'll support you whatever you chose. We're friends, right?"
Kazemaru looked over at her with some sort of glitter in his eyes.
"O-of course we're friends!" He piped up.
"Exactly!" Endou chirped. "So no hard feelings either way!" He reached a hand out and pat Kazemaru's shoulder. Doing this, he lost his balance on his ball, and fell over. The ball rolled into the water.
"Aw man!" The brunette huffed.
Both Kazemaru and Park couldn't help but laugh. To make things better, the girl leaned her head onto Kazemaru's shoulder, holding onto her stomach as she giggled.
Kazemaru truly loved his new friends.
