17. old is gold, but you are diamond
[ a/n; i made an announcement like a few days ago but i just wanna reiterate it here. this is sort of a casting call! this story will follow the ares and orion timeline, so i want to add some of everyone's ocs into the story. they'll all make their appearance in the "Outer Code" part of the story, so like when everyone from Raimon disbands and goes to different schools. idk if i wanna add ocs from original Raimon because the story has already started and Park is the only oc in Raimon - but if your oc is team Raimon we can still discuss and we'll figure something out!
you're free to pick a love interest for your oc, but i can't promise too much couple stuff lol. anyways just send me a private message if you're interested! i'll be sure to jot your name down! ^ v ^ ]
Endou sent a text in the group chat to everyone on the soccer team. . . They'll be facing the original Inazuma Eleven after school. At first, this came as a shock to everyone. How on earth did he get ahold of everyone on the original Inazuma Eleven? Then it dawned upon Park that Endou was magical and could do anything - so she said so in the group chat. Everyone agreed.
Currently, everyone was warming up on the riverbank pitch. Despite the Inazuma Eleven being a bunch of old fools, everyone was rather excited to play against them - especially Endou.
Natumi's butler Batora, was also a part of the Inazuma Eleven. As well as a bunch of people everyone had seen around Inazuma Town.
The game started off with the Inazuma Eleven's kickoff. The ball was tapped to the other forward, who reeled his leg back. Everyone anticipated a strong, destructive shoot but. . . He straight up missed, and fell over.
"Is he okay?" Park was genuinely concerned, but the rest of her team was confused as hell.
The match was completely one sided. Raimon was dominating, stealing the ball left and right. Making shoots left and right, and dribbling past their opponents left and right. It was almost disappointing.
One of the forwards was about to make a shoot towards the goal, but Park easily went for a sliding tackle and stole the ball back. She muttered a small apology, which was unnecessary.
"Endou, these guys aren't amazing at all." Kazemaru went over to the team captain, which then caused Park to do the same.
"Maybe they're having a rough day." Park pitched in, but Kazemaru voiced his disagreement.
"All of them? That can't be it." The teal haired boy crossed his arms.
"It's been so many years since they played. They're rusty." Park honestly felt bad for the old men. They were getting stomped on by a bunch of kids, that's got to be embarrassing. Endou was disappointed, he could tell something was wrong. Something was hindering their ability to play at their best.
"Don't you get it now?" A member from the opposing team had made his way over. The man was terribly scruffy looking, but that didn't seem to bother him. "The legendary Inazuma Eleven doesn't exist anymore." His words were so blunt, he was almost glad it was the case. Although, Endou wasn't having any of it.
"Being legendary has nothing to do with it!" Endou piped up. Park almost jumped in her place, suddenly started by him raising his voice. She quickly stepped behind Kazemaru - who was honestly glad to be protecting her (albeit from nothing).
"Why are you holding back on your plays?" Endou continued. "Playing like this. . . Doesn't it embarrass the soccer you love!?" The young boy was genuinely upset. He was looking forward to playing a good match, but it seems like that was too much to ask for. The Inazuma Eleven were playing so half-assed. Their was no heart in their plays, it was frustrating. Not only to Endou, but to everyone on team Raimon as well (especially Natsumi, who was embarrassed to see her butler play so terribly).
The match went on just as it did before. Any ball that came near the goal was stopped by either Park or Kazemaru. Gouenji shot a fire tornado, and it was made into the goal.
Hibiki had enough.
"You guys! What's with this mess!?" The coach shouted, catching everyone's attention. "We're the legendary Inazuma Eleven. And here are the children who set that legend as their dream!" He pointed out towards Raimon - who were all paused in place to listen to Hibiki. "We have the responsibility to carry through those feelings! Shouldn't we answer back to those feelings as the true Inazuma Eleven!?"
It took a moment for those words to sink in, but they soon sunk in deep enough to make a difference.
The Inazuma Eleven's plays changed drastically. They were now managing to steal the ball back when it was stolen, defend the goal and made their own shoots. Although, Raimon put up a fight of their own - so now, the match was even. Each side was making attacks, and each side were defending properly.
Master, one of the opponents, neared the goal and went for a hissatsu. He reeled his foot back, and kicked forward.
"Cross Drive!" The ball was sent careening towards the goal, in the middle of a yellow cross made of energy.
"I got it!" Park slide in the dirt to the front of the goal. She started with her back faced towards the rest of the field, and the girl smiled at Endou with a firm nod. This was her way of saying she could manage. Then, the girl whipped herself around and used her signature Daebak.
"Thanks, Park-chan!" Endou hopped in the air and caught the ball safely as it flicked back towards him. "Go for it, Kazemaru!" The keeper tossed the ball over to Kazemaru, who dribbled forward with it.
The ball was then sent up to Someoka, who attempted his Dragon Crash - which was caught by Hibiki's God Hand. Seeing Hibiki use God Had got Endou riled up. This was what he wanted after all.
"This is awesome! Park-chan, isn't this awesome!?" The goalkeeper piped up, earning a nervous smile from the girl.
"Yeah, of course." She chuckled. Although for some reason, the girl didn't seem as happy and excited as the rest. She stood in her position, feeling stiff and uncomfortable. . . She wanted to run. She wanted to run alongside the others, take the ball up further and take initiative, rather than always passing to someone else, for them to do the job. She loved staying back and helping Endou protect the goal, but to her, it wasn't enough. She wanted to do more.
"Now Ukishima! Let's see what you've got!" Hibiki passed the ball out to the scruffy looking man.
"Biruda!" Ukishima called out to his teammate, who responded with a shout of his own.
Both men kicked the ball into the air, causing a burst of flames to emit from the ball. As the ball flew high into the air, both men jumped as well. Ukishima went for a bycicle kick from the bottom, and Biruda kicked normally from the top. A weather vane of flames was created, following the ball straight into the net - Endou wasn't quick enough to stop the shoot. As for Park, she was caught up in her thoughts, lost in her own little word. She unfortunately didn't have the chance to intervene.
When she snapped out of her trance, the ball was already in the net, and Endou was on the ground.
"O-oh, I'm so sorry!" Park immediately apologized. "I should have been paying attention, I couldn't help you. . . I'm sorry Captain." She deeply bowed her head.
"Hey, hey, it's alright! Don't mind!" Endou chirped, showing her a reassuring smile - one which didn't do much to change how she felt. Although the girl masked her feelings and smiled as well, just to get Endou off her back and let him focus.
Endou called a timeout to meet up with his team. He gathered everyone around and lifted his grandfather's special notebook. As expected, all the writing was chicken scratch and the drawings weren't all that helpful either, but Endou understood it now.
"It's Hoono no Kazamidori!" Endou piped up, showing the drawing to everyone - even if seeing it didn't change anything.
"Did you figure it out?" Someoka asked.
"Yeah!" Endou responded enthusiastically.
"So. . . Who's gonna do it?" Matsuna propped a hand on his hip.
"Uhhh. This move involves speed with a zoom and a jump with a ba-boing!" Endou trailed off. Everyone sunk in this places. This made no sense.
"Speed and jumps huh?" Kazemaru pointed at himself with a thumb. "I think I can do it!"
"Alright then!" Endou shouted. "Kazemaru and Gouenji will do it together. We'll master this for sure!" Excited as ever.
Well. . . The entire team was excited, asides Park who was still off to the side. She did her best to try and be excited along with the others but that was only when people were looking at her. When no one was looking, she was staring at the ground with a blank expression on her face.
While Kazemaru and Gouenji were practicing the new hissatsu, Park was zoning out yet again. She wished she could focus, bue she just couldn't. Everything that happened was a blank to her, until the whistle was blown and the game was over. She didn't even realizing that Kazemaru and Gouenji managed to do the hissatsu so early.
"You guys did it!" Endou was about to throw himself onto Gouenji in a hug, but the blonde haired boy stepped aside and Endou fell over.
Kazemaru noticed Park wasn't all that happy even though they won the game, so he went over to her, and placed both his hands on her shoulders. At the sudden touch, Park jumped - so Kazemaru quickly retracted his hands.
"Sorry! I didn't mean to startle you." He apologized.
"It's okay." Park shook her head.
"You look sad. I something wrong?" Kazemaru tilted his head to the side a little, to get a better look at the girl's face.
"U-uhm. . . No, I'm alright. I'm just tired." Park avoided eye contact with the boy. "I think I'll go home now." She bowed her head before taking her leave. The girl scampered to the bench and grabbed her bag - said goodbye to the girls, and scampered off.
Kazemaru wished she wouldn't lie to him like that. He wanted to help her, but clearly she wanted to be left alone.
"I'm home." Park closed the front door behind herself. As soon as she stepped into the house, Cho was hopping up on her legs, as if asking to be pet. With a faint smile, Park slipped off her shoes and picked up the Pomeranian.
"Hello darling," Kim chimed from the kitchen. "Want something to eat?"
"No thank you." Park went straight up the staircase with Cho, and into her room.
After taking a shower and changing into something more comfortable, Park settled down at her desk to finish her homework. Just the, her phone received a ping and buzzed.
[ from: kazemaru. ] : If you need anything, I'm here.
Park stared at the message for a while. . .
[to: kazemaru] : thank you, but i'm alright.
She placed her phone down and got to work.
