One Shot

"You ready?" You ask distractedly while checking the back of the car to see if you had forgotten any of the gear you were in charge of.

You hear an affirmative shout from the front porch and you nod acceptingly before standing up and heading to the passenger's seat.

"Alright then! Let's do this!" You cheer on happily, watching him place the rest of the equipment into the trunk from the rear view mirror.

He gets in the driver's seat, starts the car and then the both of you high five as the journey began.

About 10 minutes into the drive you look up from your phone with a giddy smile.

"I can't believe we're actually going fishing!" you exclaim, bouncing restlessly in your seats as you laughed brightly.

He shoots you one of his silly looks. "Yeah? Are you 'hooked' on it?" He says waggling his brows.

You groan. "...Jin. Don't..." you mumble while sinking into your seat.

He laughs harder. "Whale fine then...but you're being quite the buzzkill...Oh well...If you can think of a better pun, let minnow" he says, cracking himself up and you embarrassedly cover your face, trying to block him out.

He finally had enough and stops at the look on your face. "ㅋㅋㅋ 어차피 너의 오빠 너무 최고 그쳐? (Hahaha. Anyways your oppa is the best right?)" He responds haughtily to your earlier statement, with a smug side glance.

You decided that just for today you might as well humor him.

"응 응 맞아... (yup yup you're right...)" you say cheekily and lift up your phone before he could rub it into your face. "이거 봐! (Look at this!)"

He shakes his head, knowing what you were trying to do, but grabs your phone anyways at the next red light. You see him scroll through the pictures and whistle, impressed. "Daaamn. They even do ice fishing in winters. We'll definitely have to go again" he promises.

You smirk and nod. "As long as you're paying" you reply jokingly and he scoffs while shooting you a look. "What are you talking about, I ALWAYS pay" he argues weakly and you laugh.

"Mhmmm. You mean like that dinner you paid for. Oh and of course the last time we went hiking too right?" You bring up sarcastically and he scowls at your point.

"...shut up..." he mumbles, keeping his eye on the road and you poke his arm playfully. "Awww sorry Mom, did I offend you?" You tease and continue when he scowls even more.

"If you keep frowning like that you'll keep getting more wrinkles you know? Tch this Old man..." you say in mock seriousness.

He gasps loudly then shoots you a glare. "MORE wrinkles? WRINKLES? I don't have ANY wrinkles and I'm not old you damn brat! Jeez you've been hanging out with JK too much...you two have no respect for older people..." he goes on and you shove your earphones on without him noticing so that you could tune him out.

This successfully went on for a couple more minutes.

"...-going to kick your ass and...HEY ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME" he screams and pulls one of your earbuds out.

You look at him in fake wonder. "What was that? Were you saying something 아저씨? (old man)" you ask innocently and he huffs in annoyance before tugging onto your ponytail in response.

You grimace at the sharp pull and glare at him. "...You know what. I take that back you're not an old man...

he smiles triumphantly, thinking that he won.

...you're an immature brat!" You finish with a shout and then stick your tongue out childishly.

The argument that broke out afterwards lasted quite some time.

You look down at the GPS and you noted that you were now in the fishing town, only 20 minutes away from the site.

Jin was still ignoring you so you shoot him a sweet smile, to which he jeers at, and you sigh. "...aren't you done pouting?" You ask but he continues to snub you off while driving.

You knew what would make him break. "Oh loving priiiiiiince, the one and only handsome Jin! Be the nicer one out of the two of us and forgive me~" you continue with a singsong voice and see him quickly cover up a smile that appears.

He clears his throat. "...아이씨(Aish) I think I hear something annoying speaking..." he says thinking out loud and you shove him.

"You're such a child..." you mumble and finally he breaks out into his infamous laughter. "Right back at you Kid, at least when we fish I'll sh-" he cuts himself off with a gasp.

You shoot him a worried look. "What? What's wrong? Jin?" You ask in panic and he gives you a horrified look.

"...I...I...forgot our fishing rods" he says numbly.

Your jaw drops.

You hear the bell on the store's door chime when you enter annoyedly, a sheepish jin trailing behind you.

"...what kind of person forgets the one most important thing we need on a FISHING trip?" You ask incredulously and he just laughs while lifting his hands up in a calming gesture.

"...Y/N let's not ruin such a lovely day by pointing out my faults...let's talk about what we do have!" he says placatingly and looks at your outfit. "...why! you're looking absolutely gorgeous in that outfit today! Did Chim choose them for you because damn!" He adds on with a wink then a flying kiss and you look down at your old baggy shirt and shorts with a scowl.

"...save it old man" you mumble and head off to the fishing equipment aisle.

You randomly pick two rods out of the bunch and hold them in front of Jin, now less frustrated than you were earlier.

"Hopefully they do rentals since we're pretty near the fishing grounds" you think with a small prayer.

Jin looks back and forth between the two studiously and hums in thought. You roll your eyes but let him observe. "Hmm, yeah okay those two are fine..." he says reluctantly. "...but the ones we borrowed from Yoongi were way cooler..." he mumbles wistfully and you pat him on the shoulders.

"...guess you shouldn't have FORGOTTEN them then" you point out and he pouts.

Something on the ground catches your eyes so you glance down at his feet.

"Oh. Your shoelaces are untied" you say indifferently, making him glance at them then bend down to tie it with an embarrassed chuckle.

You sigh once more. "I swear you would've tripped so badly on them and-" you start but when something from your peripheral vision catches your attention, you stop.

You see your favorite chocolate -the one that they usually didn't sell in Korea- and gasp in shock. "Oh my god. Oh my god!" You shout and Jin looks up, startled.

The people in the store, whose attention were now caught, turns to you two and audibly squeal in surprise when they see Jin, who was still on his knees.

"Honey oh my god look! He's proposing to her! That's so sweet! Look at her face!" A lady coos, nudging her boyfriend.

"Wha-" you start off but then more people start crowding around, pointing and pulling out their phones.

Jin looks up at you in disbelief, on his one knee, shoelace forgotten, and you wince at the compromising position the two of you were caught in.

You shoot him an apologetic look while mouthing a quick 'sorry'

Laughing uncomfortably, you face the crowd. "Guys, listen...this is just a big misu-" you begin but then a chorus of gasps assault you.

"Wait, is she actually going to reject the poor guy?" A man exclaims and people 'boo' in response.

"...ILL MARRY YOU IF SHE DOESN'T!" A random woman shouts, and Jin smiles smugly to that.

You kick him softly.

"She's really not saying anything..." Someone exclaims in horror and your eyebrow twitches angrily. Jin gives you a stiff look but nudges you to go along with it as he cleared his throat.

"Ah screw this...it's not like anyone here knows us..." Jin thinks and opens his mouth.

"Uh...b-babe, the love of my life and the most beautiful woman standing in this room. This probably isn't the most romantic spot to propose on but I couldn't wait any longer. I was supposed to do this when we got to the fishing grounds but that obviously didn't work out...so do you think you could make me the happiest man in the world and marry my dumb ass?"

The audience 'awws' and you flush at all the attention that was now directed at you. You gulp and feel your palms sweat but you look down to the blushing Jin.

"I-I..." you start off, flustered, and everyone holds their breath.

You feel the heavy pressure of all the expectant looks and you force a smile on your face. "Y-yeah okay Jin. I'll marry you..." you mumble and everyone cheers loudly.

Random men came up to pat him on his back for his brave attempt that paid off in the end and the women also did the same to you, congratulating the newly engaged.

All this happened because a couple of fucking fishing rods and you could only shake your head disbelievingly at how you always seemed to get caught up in the weirdest scenarios.

The two of you ended up fishing in awkward silence after the owner, who happened to be in the store and saw the entire thing, blatantly refused to let you two 'beautifully engaged' couple pay for the entrance fee. This was apparently his 'wedding gift' to you both.

You glance surreptitiously at Jin's stiff posture but he turned to you at the same time. When you make eye contact, you both turn away with a blush.

You tentatively look his way once more. But this was stupid; you both were great friends and something as small as this shouldn't get in the way of your friendship.

So what if this entire town thought that you two were engaged. Who cares?
With that, you exhale soothingly.

"Yah. Jin! You're being sloppy. I haven't seen you catch any decent sized fish. I thought you said you were the best?" You asked tauntingly and he narrows his eyes.

"I'm sorry what? I AM the best" he says and then concentrates even more. A knowing smile creeped up on his face and you sigh in relief when finally, everything went back to normal after that.

Nobody would remember this in a couple of days and plus no one you both knew would ever find out about this anyways.

"So how was the fishing trip?" Tae asks lazily while scrolling through his newsfeed. You and Jin share all-knowing looks.

"Uh. Pretty good...nothing much happened you know. Just a normal fishing trip" Jin says nonchalantly, but the two of you knew it was everything but normal.

Chim all of a sudden bursts out into laughter from the other end of the room and the two of you raise your brows at him. "Guys! Oh my god. You need to watch this! Somebody recorded a video in the area you guys were in! Holy shit. This dude got on his knees and proposed!" He giggles and continues watching, not noticing the look of alarm that crosses your face when you processed his words.

"Did you guys see them? Haha damn. I would have paid to watch that in person. Must've been quite the show!" He exclaims in amusement and Tae leans over to watch as well.

Jin pales.

Suddenly Tae's brows furrow in confusion. "Wait...but the girl kind of looks like you Y/N...and the guy...kinda looks...like..." he trails off and chokes on air when the faces of the two in the video becomes clearer.

Chim looks up from his screen and stares at the two of you studiously.

Then it clicks.

"NO FUCKING WAY!" He screams accusingly while pointing his finger at your red face as Tae roared in laughter.

So much for 'no one would find out'
