One Shot

Your alarm rings, signaling the start of a new day but you flinch and stay curled up in your fetal position while hugging your duvet closer to your chest.

You curse under your breath at the familiar pain in your abdomen and scowl annoyedly.

It was that time of the month once again but today happened to be the worse one yet.

Your stomach cramped painfully again and you gasped, reaching for the glass of water on your bedside table while downing it all in one gulp.

"Ugh. Screw this...I'm just going to skip class today..." you groaned, wrapping your arm around your stomach and then shuffling out your bed in search for some pain killers.

On the way to find some, you messaged your mom who was still away on a business trip and she soon responded saying she called your school and let them know you weren't coming in today.

Thank the higher beings for your amazing mother.

With a sigh, you palmed the pills you found sitting on the kitchen counter and swallowed them, once again grimacing at the sharp pain that tore through you.

Sometimes you hated being a woman...

There was no point in going back to sleep anymore since the pain was still very much present, so you decided to at least get some of the work that was due this week done, before passing out.

Of course the tub of ice cream you grabbed on the way back to your room was crucial in motivating you throughout your task...

"Where are you?"

You blinked twice and then cursed sheepishly after reading the text message, now remembering that you forgot to tell Namjoon you weren't coming to classes today.

You bit your lip tentatively. There was no way you could tell him about your little...situation...

The two of you had only recently started dating and there was no way you'd embarrass yourself by letting him know you had cramps so bad that it could paralyze even a man like Hobi.

With a sigh you began typing your response. "I'm really really sick with the flu...I'm just going to be home all day so don't worry about me Joon!"

You read it over one more time and nodded before hitting send.

Now that that was out of the way you quickly glanced at your outfit and chuckled. The sweats you were wearing were the baggiest ones you owned, paired with an off shoulder shirt that said 'fight me' -a gift from the one and only Min Yoongi on your birthday last year.

Your hair was a tangled mess so you threw it in a quick bun and then flopped face first onto your mattress, a soft smile tugging your lips when your thoughts drifted to one silly man who made you happier than ever.

Before

"Joon! Where are we going?? It's almost midnight and we have an exam tomorrow!" You half whispered, half shouted but Namjoon only shushed you and held your hand tighter.

You tried to pretend like his much larger hands which radiated with warmth didn't make your heart ache with longing but that was like trying to grab onto water -impossible.

"Don't act like you were actually studying Y/N. I saw the drama you were watching on your laptop earlier" He pointed out while raising his brows and you scowled but couldn't deny what he said.

"W-well it doesn't mean I can just sneak out of the house..." you attempted pathetically, not that you really cared, you just didn't want him to have the last word.

Namjoon paused for a moment in response to your words before turning to you with a reluctant sigh.

"...I guess if you're too much of a wimp then you can just go back" he said casually while letting go of you and then shrugged, making your jaw drop. He always knew what to say to tick you off so that things go his way...

...and just like every other time, it worked.

You puffed your chest out and shot him a mock-offended look. "Excuse me, you do realize who you're talking to right?" You asked back sassily while shooting him a smug smirk and then took the lead, dragging him out to the sidewalk in front of your place.

He shook his head with a soft chuckle, eyes twinkling with amusement. "You almost had me there" he said sarcastically and you gave him a weak nudge while rolling your eyes.

"Whatever you say, now where are we going?"

You glanced at what looked like an abandoned dome-like building in uncertainty as you turned to the smiling man behind you, your hands going limp on your side. "Uhm..." you began unsurely but he only shook his head while his eyes twinkled mischievously.

Once again, he took your hand and gently tugged you forward, past the doors, and inside the building.

You squinted, trying to make out whatever it is that was surrounded by the darkness.

Suddenly you felt Joon's hand slip away and for a brief moment your body tensed in fear, your fingers instinctively reaching out for something to grab.

"Namjoon??" You shouted, hearing an echo back but still no signs of your friend.

You frowned and blindly looked around you, ready to shout once more but all of a sudden the room lit up.

Your eyes widened, not because of the sudden brightness, but because of all the stars around you.

You blinked in amazement, taking in all the beautiful colors and the different types that you felt like you could reach and grab if you tried.

You couldn't believe it...Namjoon had taken you to a planetarium...

The sound of someone clearing their throat broke you out of your reverie and your head whipped to the man himself.

The stars kissed his skin, making him glow in an ethereal manner, which also wasn't helping your increasingly erratic heart rate at the moment.

You were truly taken by surprise by his actions.

"This...what is this?" You whispered, still in awe and Joon fidgeted nervously while rubbing the back of his neck.

"Remember when you and Chim were talking about that book from that French author? The Little Prince?"

Chim jerked, sitting straight up on his bed in surprise as his bright yellow blanket slightly slipped down his shoulders.

He stifled in a yawn and rubbed his eyes sleepily, wondering what had woken him up...

Another wave of yawns courses through him but he shrugged this time. "Probably that test tomorrow..." he thought with a shudder and then laid back down while shutting his eyes.

"Oh well...I'm failing it anyways"

You nodded, recalling the day that happened but still not understanding what that story had to do with why he had taken you here.

Joon looked away, almost embarrassed, and continued. "W-well I overheard you telling Chim that you wished you could be in the stars too...so I...I wanted to bring them to you instead..." his voice trailed off and you stood there, feeling as if your heart was about to burst out of your chest the moment you processed what he had said.

You could literally hear your heartbeat in your ears like drums going off and you thanked the heavens that it was dark because that meant Joon wouldn't be able to see how red your face had gotten.

Little did you know that Namjoon was feeling the same way.

He stepped closer and you could feel his breath on your cheeks as he wrapped his arms around your waist. "I-I don't understand..." you whispered but pressed yourself closer to him and you felt his hold on you tighten in response as he chuckled deeply.

"You don't have to...I've been meaning to do this for a long time now...I've always felt this way about you so you'd make my day if you'd  let me love you and be the one that makes you happy. You can decide whether or not you'll have me but right now let me have this okay?" he whispered back softly and then leaned in.

Your breath hitched but your eyes fluttered shut, knowing that what was coming next was something you had been waiting ages for.

A kiss from the man you were in love with.

"HEY! WHO'S THERE! THIS PLACE IS CLOSED"

The two of you jerked apart, breaking the spell that you were both as if it was glass shattering on the floor.

You both stared at each other with equal looks of panic and Joon cursed under his breath while snatching your hands.

"Run!"

Now

You chuckled, the memories of that day still as clear as ever.

Leave it to Joon to break into something as big as a planetarium just to woo you...

But you couldn't complain...that night was perfect...of course you didn't refuse him and had to explain how long you had liked him as well.

Even after you ended up failing the exam, which, of course, Joon scored perfectly on, you wouldn't have changed a thing.

It landed you your boyfriend who you definitely didn't want seeing on your damn time of the month.

No way in hell...he'd definitely freak...

Unfortunately fate wasn't favoring you today because your phone buzzed with a new message and after you read it, your heart stopped.

"Alright. Ditched class to nurse you back to health...can't have my only girlfriend dying on me. Think you feel okay enough to come out and open the door for me?"

Your eyes darted to the front door in horror.

"Nonononono! He cannot see me like this!" You bit your lip in panic while wondering what to do. You definitely didn't look convincing enough with your lie and knew that the moment Namjoon saw you, he'd know you weren't sick at all.

At least not in the way he was thinking...

You were probably spacing out longer than you thought because suddenly your phone rang.

The phone slipped out of your hand in your shock, but luckily after fumbling slightly, you caught it and cleared your throat while tapping answer.

*cough* *cough* "ugh...Babe?...I-is that you?"

You heard your boyfriend groan on the other end. "Damn...you sound horrible...I knew it was a good idea to come by then...you probably haven't eaten anything right? I brought you some soup..." he said worriedly and you cursed under your breath.

Dammit why did he have to be so sweet...of all the days...

You really did want him here but you didn't want him to see you when you felt all gross and crampy...

"It's okay...I *cough* don't want to get you sick *cough* go back to class..." you answered back feebly and crossed your fingers, hoping it'd work.

"Baby, you'd be stupid to think I'd leave now after hearing how bad you sound."

You squeezed your eye shut...you almost forgot about how persistent he could be when he wanted.

"Joon please...just go home..." you begged and then gritted your teeth as another wave of cramps hit you, making you clench your stomach in pain.

You heard a frustrated sigh. "Will you just open the door...stop being so damn stubborn. A little cold isn't going to scare me off"

You growled this time. Blame it on your stupid hormones or whatever, but you felt your temper rising along with your annoyance.

"Look, I love you and all but you really don't want to be around me right now okay?" You tried once again but it still didn't deter him.

"Seriously? Just let me in Y/N...why're you being such a drama queen? Do you not trust me to take care of you?" He asked, voice laced with hurt and this time your heart tugged painfully.

You rubbed your temples gingerly in a pitiful attempt of relief and then threw your hands up in defeat -you didn't have the energy to keep this up any longer.

You gave up. You couldn't think of any other excuses anymore and you were in too much pain to bullshit any further; for some reason that made you pissed...why couldn't he just listen?

"Goddamit Joon! I'm on my bloody period okay?? That's why I don't want you to see me! Just, just go away already!!" You shouted, feeling tears well up in your eyes and you knew it was all because your emotions were going haywire.

You felt the phone click and the line died, making your lips tremble.

You knew you were being terribly unreasonable and you didn't blame him for hanging up on you...but that didn't make it hurt any less.

You finally did it...you had driven him off with all your overly dramatic antics...who'd want to stay with a chick who chewed her boyfriend's ear off because he was being sweet anyways...

You moped even more at that and ran to your room, trying to hold back your sobs.

The moment you landed on your bed however, the tears leaked and soon your pillows grew wet from how badly you were crying.

Stupid...he was just trying to look out for you and you paid him back by telling him off...what kind of girlfriend were you?

You sniffled, realizing that now he was probably going to leave you...

Was it too late to beg for forgiveness?....

...obviously.

*tap*

"He definitely hates me now..." you thought with a sob.

*tap*

Huh?

You lifted your head up sluggishly, eyes rimmed red and swollen, at the sound that had caught your attention.

*tap*

It was a bit louder this time and you noticed that it was coming from your balcony window...

With furrowed brows you slowly stood up and shuffled towards it.

*tap*

This time, you actually saw the tiny pebble that had hit the glass, so you looked out.

Joon was standing outside with his arms crossed and he was pointing to the front door.

Your mouth dropped in shock and you sloppily wiped your eyes.

He waved his arms frantically this time and pointed to the door urgently once more. Even in your surprise, you stiffly nodded and then robotically walked downstairs, bracing yourself for his face to face break up...

You swung the door open and looked at the floor in shame but immediately you were engulfed in a hug.

"Mjflghhh!" You screamed, your words muffled as you were pressed right against his chest.

He pulled away but didn't let you go as he tilted your chin towards him with a serious look on his face. "You idiot"

You opened your mouth offendedly but he shot you a withering stare and you promptly shut it back.

He nodded smugly and then cleared his throat. "As I was saying...you idiot! You didn't have to lie about having the flu...having your period isn't a big deal to me at all. It's a natural thing for every women, why would I be disgusted by a little bit of blood every month?" he pointed out while rolling his eyes and your face flushed hotly.

You didn't know what was worse. The fact that he was calling you out on your lie, or the fact that he was comfortably talking about your period.

At least he wasn't dumping you right then and there...

Your eye caught something dangling on his arm and Joon stopped his ranting while he followed your line of sight.

He huffed childishly and reached into the plastic bag. "...if you had just told me what the problem was, I could have bought all this way earlier."

He dumped the bag over your kitchen counter and a ton of different chocolates spilled over the table. You gaped, taken aback, and realized that there were more pain medications along with all your favorite snacks until there as well.

Your eyes teared up again, but not for the same reasons as it did earlier, and you gave him a watery laugh while clutching him in a tight hug.

He chuckled together with you and rested his chin over your head with a content sigh.

You realized, now that you were close to him, that he was still trying to recover his breath and it hit you that he had probably run to the pharmacy to grab all of these things.

...even after you told him off.

You groaned, feeling like the crappiest girlfriend in the world. "I'm sorry..." you mumbled into his chest and felt it rumble as he laughed in amusement.

You couldn't feel the pain anymore...it looks like you wouldn't be needing the pain killers after all...Namjoon was like a drug anyways, easing your pain without so much of an effort...

...and you were completely addicted.

"...I don't deserve all this" you added on and Joon pulled back enough so that you could look him in the eye.

He flicked your nose while sticking his tongue out slightly. "You're right. You don't." He teased and you snorted in response.

His eyes softened and he brushed a stray hair away from your face while studying your features. Suddenly he grinned lazily at you, his dimples showing themselves in the process.

"You know I know that you love me even if you're an asshole...

...but I love you more."

You didn't doubt him at all.

You didn't know how long the two of you stayed in that position, holding each other close, but just like the night in the planetarium, time seemed to stand still and you were lost in the world where only the two of you mattered.
