"I will flip this table"
*****
Set in the "Mansion" show universe (Nichojoo).
It was Day 5 of the Butler Project. Nicholas's cravat was slightly crooked, EJ's gloves were missing (again), and the child assigned to them—Minseo, age six—had declared war on nap time.
And yet, Nicholas was glowing.
"Euijoo-ssi," he said sweetly, spinning on his heel with a silver tray in hand, "if you don't find those gloves, I'm filing an official complaint to the Butler Union."
"There's no union," EJ deadpanned, still looking under the couch.
"There should be. Article 1: You have to stop looking this good while in uniform. It's distracting."
EJ froze. "You're literally wearing eyeliner right now."
"Exactly. We're both guilty."
Meanwhile, Minseo sat on a beanbag throne, sipping juice like royalty. "Are you two married?" she asked bluntly.
Nicholas blinked. "No, darling. Not yet."
EJ choked on air.
Mission: Tea Party
They had an objective: host a classy, drama-free tea party.
Ten minutes in, Nicholas had somehow managed to pour lemonade into the sugar bowl, Minseo had glued googly eyes onto the fine china, and EJ—stoic, composed EJ—was seated cross-legged, wearing a tiara Minseo had commanded him to wear.
"I dub you Sir Grumpy," Nicholas announced, placing a paper crown on his own head.
"I will flip this table," EJ said, sipping imaginary tea with the patience of a saint.
"Not in front of the princess," Nicholas whispered, nudging him.
Minseo just giggled. "You two are funny. You're like cartoons."
"They kind of are," the PD whispered behind the camera.
Chaos Level: Cat Café
Later, they were assigned to help the kids feed and play with a dozen kittens.
EJ tried to keep order. He read the rules. He used a chart. He made eye contact with the kittens. None of it worked.
Nicholas, meanwhile, was lying on the floor, covered in fluff and absolutely thriving.
"I was made for this life," he whispered dramatically, as a ginger kitten climbed his chest.
"Do not name them," EJ muttered.
"I already named this one 'EJ Junior.' He growls too when touched."
The camera zoomed in on EJ's unamused face.
Whispers Behind the Curtain
Backstage, as the kids were doing crafts with the other butlers, EJ and Nicholas finally had a second alone.
"You're really good with them," EJ said softly.
Nicholas turned, half-shocked. "That almost sounded like a compliment."
"I'm trying. Don't ruin it."
"I won't," Nicholas grinned. "But only if you finally admit I'm your favorite co-butler."
EJ rolled his eyes, then reached out to fix the same crooked cravat he'd seen earlier. "You're alright," he said, fingers brushing Nicholas's collar just a moment too long.
Nicholas went still. "If you keep touching me like that, I'm filing another complaint."
"To the imaginary union?"
"To HR. Which is also me."
The Big Finale: Kid Court
To wrap the week, Minseo held a mock trial. She made EJ sit in the "witness box" and Nicholas act as his defense lawyer.
"He refuses to play dress-up," Minseo declared.
"Your Honor," Nicholas said, dead serious, "my client is guilty only of having a fashion sense from 2012. But I believe, with proper guidance and fabulous scarves, he can be rehabilitated."
EJ stared at him. "I hate you."
Nicholas winked. "Love you too, Your Honor."
The entire crew burst out laughing. Even Minseo banged her toy gavel and shouted, "CASE DISMISSED!"
Final Scene
As the credits rolled, Nicholas and EJ waved alongside Minseo.
"I'm going to miss you both," she said, hugging them tightly.
Nicholas ruffled her hair. "We'll come visit. Or maybe we'll start a butler café."
EJ shook his head, but he was smiling. "That sounds like a health code violation waiting to happen."
"But you'd still work there with me?" Nicholas asked.
EJ didn't answer. He just reached out and took Nicholas's hand.
Minseo gasped. "YOU ARE MARRIED!"
The camera zoomed in on their faces as they laughed, hands still intertwined.
Roll credits. Fade out.
