"I feel like I'm being held hostage."
*****
Jo didn't ask for K and Nicholas to become his parents.
But somehow, it happened anyway.
At first, it was just teasing.
Then it became habit.
And before Jo knew it—
K and Nicholas were looking after him like he was their actual child.
And while he pretended to be embarrassed by it...
He secretly didn't mind.
(Most of the time.)
1) The Overprotective Parents™
Jo was walking into practice when K suddenly blocked his path.
K: "Where's your jacket?"
Jo: "I don't need one."
Nicholas: "It's cold."
Jo: "I'm fine."
K, crossing his arms: "No, you're not."
Nicholas, already draping a jacket over Jo: "There. Fixed."
Jo, sighing but putting it on anyway: "You guys are impossible."
Nicholas, grinning: "You love it."
Jo, muttering: "Maybe."
2) The Morning Check-In
K: "Did you eat breakfast?"
Jo: "..."
Nicholas: "...Jo?"
Jo: "I forgot."
Silence.
K: "UNACCEPTABLE."
Nicholas, grabbing Jo's wrist: "Come with us."
Jo: "Wait, where—"
Five minutes later, Jo was sitting at the dorm table with a full plate of food.
K: "Eat."
Nicholas: "No leftovers."
Jo, softly: "...Thanks."
Nicholas: "What was that?"
Jo, louder: "NOTHING."
3) The Bedtime Struggle
Jo, playing video games at 2AM.
K, standing in the doorway: "Bed. Now."
Jo: "Five more minutes."
Nicholas: "You said that an hour ago."
Jo: "No proof."
K: "Fine. No WiFi tomorrow."
Jo, panicked: "YOU WOULDN'T."
Nicholas, grinning: "Try us."
Jo, shutting off his game immediately: "Goodnight."
Nicholas, smirking: "Good boy."
Jo, groaning into his pillow: "Why are you guys like this."
4) The Sick Day Disaster
Jo: Sneezes once.
Nicholas & K: "GO TO BED."
Jo: "IT'S JUST A SNEEZE."
K, handing him a blanket: "No arguments."
Nicholas, making soup: "Stay there."
Jo, wrapped up in blankets like a burrito: "I feel like I'm being held hostage."
Nicholas: "A hostage to love."
Jo: "...I refuse to respond to that."
5) The 'You're Still a Baby' Agenda
Jo: "I want coffee."
K: "No."
Nicholas: "You'll stunt your growth."
Jo: "I'M ALREADY TALL."
K, serious: "You could be taller."
Jo, grumbling: "This is ridiculous."
Nicholas, patting Jo's head: "Shh, just drink your milk."
Jo, completely done: "I hate it here."
6) The Embarrassing Public Display™
Jo was walking in public with K and Nicholas when it happened.
A fan, smiling: "Jo is so cute!"
Nicholas, grinning immediately: "Right??"
K, nodding: "Our precious son."
Jo, instantly red: "STOP IT."
Nicholas, squeezing his shoulder: "Aww, he's shy."
K: "So cute."
Jo, ready to quit the group: "I HATE BOTH OF YOU."
(He did not, in fact, hate them.)
7) The Unexpected Soft Moment
Jo had a bad day.
He wasn't in the mood to joke around.
Instead of teasing him—
K handed him a drink.
Nicholas ruffled his hair.
And after a while, K said softly, "You're doing well."
Nicholas added, "We're proud of you."
Jo, blinking rapidly: "I—uh—thanks."
Nicholas, grinning: "Aww. He's shy."
K, smirking: "He loves us."
Jo, groaning into his hoodie: "I regret everything."
8) The Unspoken Care
Jo wasn't used to people taking care of him.
So sometimes, he forgot to take care of himself.
And every time, K and Nicholas were there.
They noticed when he was too tired and made sure he got rest.
They noticed when he was too quiet and made sure he was okay.
They noticed when he was stressed and distracted him with dumb jokes.
And even though Jo pretended to be annoyed...
Deep down, he felt safe.
Loved.
And he wasn't sure how to say it—
So he just let them continue.
9) The Final Acceptance
One day, Jo finally gave up.
He sighed, looking at K and Nicholas.
"...You guys really act like my parents."
Nicholas: "Oh?"
K: "He finally admits it?"
Jo, grumbling: "...Forget I said anything."
Nicholas, grinning: "No take-backs."
K, softly: "We just want to make sure you're okay, Jo."
Nicholas, nodding: "We don't mind looking out for you."
Jo, quiet for a moment, then muttered:
"...I know."
K, smiling: "Good."
Nicholas, ruffling Jo's hair again: "Then stop whining and accept
