Rey came to the dining hall where everyone was gathered. Ben followed closely behind her. She still couldn't believe what he had said, as if she would ever kiss him! She did her best to ignore him, but it was difficult with him walking right beside her.
They went over to sit at the table where Finn and Poe were eating.
"Where were you two?" Poe asked.
Ben smirked, leaning back in his seat. "Oh just planning our wedding," he said.
Rey crossed her arms in annoyance. "In his dreams."
"Well unfortunately as much as I hate to agree with Ben here and admit defeat... he is in the lead," Finn answered. "Two to one."
"Well, that might change tomorrow," Poe said crossing his arms in confidence.
"I certainly hope so," Rey said.
Ben's jaw dropped. "Why? Would you rather marry Poe?"
"No! I would rather win so that I wouldn't have to marry either of you!"
"Finn then?" Ben pressed.
"No! I just want to marry for love, not because of who wins some stupid contest," Rey answered.
Poe, Finn, and Ben exchanged glances before they each nodded.
Poe folded his hands in front of him. "Rey, just tell us the truth. Who would you rather marry?"
Rey looked at them each in turn, trying to decide which of them she could see herself being happy with. It wasn't easy, she didn't want to admit it but she liked them all as friends. If circumstances were different she would have really enjoyed hanging out with them. She didn't have any friends, and now she understood why. The boyish things she liked talking about were probably boring to girls. But she just wasn't ready for marriage, she wished that the four of them could just spend time together as friends and then maybe she would begin to have feelings for one of them, but right now she didn't.
She looked at Finn, he was sweet and friendly and always smiled. She turned to Poe, he was funny and adventurous. She looked at Ben, he had to be the handsomest of the three, and he could be sweet sometimes. But most of the time he was cocky, arrogant and annoying.
She groaned and put her head in her hands. "I don't know."
"Well if you married me, I would give you the finest horse in my kingdom," said Poe.
"Horses are overrated, I would give you a targeting range of your own," Finn tried to one up Poe.
"Well, if you married me I'd let you share all of my adventures. I wouldn't treat you like a helpless girl, I would let you fight at my side," Ben said.
Rey tried not to seem impressed, but that was exactly what she wanted. To have adventures and fight for the freedom of her people. But she couldn't help but feel a little annoyed that they were bribing her.
"I'm the future queen, I don't need you to give me any of those things," she said.
Ben laid his head on the table in defeat. "Then what do you want? If you have everything, what can we give you that would show how much we care?"
"If you don't already know, then I don't want to marry you," she answered.
"How can I know if you won't tell us?" Ben asked.
She shook her head in despair and turned to leave.
Poe sighed. "Women are so complicated."
"What do you think she wants? Jewelry? Five children?" Ben asked.
"I have no idea," Finn answered.
"What are we going to do? She won't pick one of us, and the games end tomorrow," Poe said.
"I guess it's up to fate," Ben replied.
