Don't give me hope.
3rd Point of View.
When Giotto arrived (with Asari in tow but the blonde is too busy cursing to notice his good friend), both Boss and Right-hand man threw themselves in a screaming competition, for fun.
Tsuna just watch in mild exasperation as her eyes ring in pain from the levels of their yelling, "Are they always like this, Ugetsu-san?"
Asari grins wholeheartedly, "Yes."
Tsuna titters at the Rain's cheerful answer, so Takemi-like.
She won't be surprised if Asari and Takemi are like her and Giotto. You know, ancestors and descendants.
As her mind is on the topic of ancestry, Tsuna finds herself thinking, so deep in thought.
Herself being in the past...won't it be a problem?
She heard so many things about time travelling, even watched some movies regarding the topic, every attempt to change the past always results in bad outcomes.
Won't it be like that in this timeline too?
It's been two weeks since Bermuda left her under the care of her ancestor.
She just hopes that Bermuda has a reason for this.
"...na!"
Oh, how she missed her family.
"...suna!"
She sighs wistfully.
"TSUNA!"
"Hiie! Yes!?" Tsuna would have fallen from the loud voice that screamed right in front of her face, if not for the warm hand that is on her shoulder.
"Hiie? Oh shit, that's cute." Giotto crouched in front of her, his other gloved hand on the lower half of his face, blonde strands covering the rest of his visage.
"G-Giotto-san?" Tsuna blushed brilliantly, feeling embarrassment seep deep in her bones as realization kicks in, they heard her shriek .
"Y-You-" Giotto coughed, but it wasn't that convincing.
"Are you okay? You've been staring at that flower for several minutes now. Do you feel unwell? Shall we head back inside? Maybe you need a massage- OW!" Giotto retracts his hand from her shoulder and clutches the back of his head, feeling the second punch come.
"Stop it, you simp. Let her breath." G scowls.
Giotto whips his head to scowl back, "Will you stop that!? What even is a simp!?"
G crosses his arms, "I don't know but that word perfectly describes what you're doing right now." is what he only said.
Asari replaced Giotto's hand on Tsuna's shoulder, releasing calming Blue flames to ease Tsuna, "Sawada-san, are you okay?"
Tsuna briefly looks at him then down on the flower, a tiger lily and a stem of carnation flower.
Home.
"I'm okay." she assures in a gentle breath, smiling with a gentle glow, "Just thinking about home."
The three men went silent after that, Asari and Giotto looks at her with sad frowns while the tsundere pink head (it's fucking red, says the seething G.) looks at her with soft eyes.
"I just miss them, it's been weeks and I haven't heard anything from Bermuda yet." she whispers, caressing the soft petal of the carnation. "The longer I wait the more anxious I get and I-" Tsuna takes a deep breath, "I don't think I can wait anymore."
Asari frowns deeper and rubbed her shoulder with comfort, "I'm positive that there are survivors, Sawada-san. If the Vindice allows, we will offer our assistance as well." Giotto smiles up to her, Tsuna's eyes softened.
"That won't be needed." Bermuda suddenly appeared between the two Skies, Giotto yelped and threw himself on the ground ungracefully while Tsuna just stiffened like a rock.
"Bermuda..." Tsuna breathes out, calming her rapidly beating heart, "You're here. What-"
"We have bad news and good news, Decima, take your pick." Bermuda says. Tsuna instantly felt dread fill her stomach, she gulped harshly.
"The bad news please." she grips her hands together, bracing herself for the worst.
"We've been searching and so far..." Bermuda stopped briefly, and Tsuna wished he didn't because the pause only served to put tears on her eyes, "No..." she whimpered curling into herself. "We've been unsuccessful." Bermuda shakes his head.
"Bermuda, what do you mean?" Giotto demanded scrambling to Tsuna's side. He wraps an arm around her shoulders and Asari pulled back, knowing that a Sky's embrace is better than the comfort of the Rain.
"We didn't find survivors." Bermuda's small head bowed. "The skirmish stretched outside the manor and even allies were dragged into the mess, Byakuran and Uni weren't involved." he floats in front of Tsuna, putting a hand on the crown of her head, "The good news is that your guardians."
Tsuna sucked in a harsh breath, she looks up at him with wide eyes, still red, but hopeful. "You found them."
Bermuda shakes his head, "No, not yet but I am sure that they survived."
Tsuna whimpered, she buries her face on her hands, "Please don't give me hope." she whimpered, "I'm not, I'm giving you assurance. We may look heartless but we're not." Bermuda pats her head. "I have notified Reborn of what happened, he is at your temporary HQ, you know where."
Tsuna remained silent, as if contemplating what to say. Many questions run in her mind, so many questions that needed answers but she can't speak.
Tsuna looks around, from her posture, not with them around. Bermuda caught her gist, he turns to the three concerned men, "Leave us alone for now." he didn't ask, he ordered them too.
G was quick to decline.
"Hah? What makes you think we'll obey you?" he roughly states, doubtful eyes on the floating ex-Arcobaleno.
"G, stop." Giotto holds out a hand on G, standing up, his eyes remained on Tsuna who has yet to raise her head, his HI screamed at him to leave them alone, that a conversation with Bermuda is what Tsuna needs right now. Poor girl has been bedridden with no news from her eradicated Famiglia.
"We don't have the right to interfere with Tsuna's Famiglia. This is her business, when she wants to, she will tell us." Asari nodded, agreeing with Giotto and forcibly pulled G away from the two, sending a small comforting smile at Tsuna who just smiled tiredly.
Giotto watches his friends walk away and turns to Tsuna, he reached down for her hand and rubbed soothing circles on the back of her hands.
"We'll be just at the entrance. Call us if you're done or when..." Giotto stopped and jokingly whispers, "...if you need help." Tsuna's lips twitched again when Bermuda smack Giotto's head, "Ow!"
"Do not forget that I have the power to take Tsuna from you, Vongola. Don't make me." Bermuda huffs.
"Yes, yes." Giotto patted Tsuna's hands twice and jogged away, sparing another glance before disappearing behind the door.
When Tsuna's own HI throbbed, she subtly signalled Bermuda to talk.
"We haven't found them yet, nor any remaining-" Tsuna closed her eyes as a gruesome picture entered her mind. She knows that it's bad to imagine her family dead but with the situation now...
"But your guardians are strong, they must have survived and lured the enemies away from your base. There was several scorches and struggles away from the Mansion. The Vindice and other allies are still searching."
Tsuna nodded listlessly, letting a small flower of hope bloom inside her.
"Around one fourth of Vongola is dead, including allies, the staff evacuated just in time. Fuuta of the Stars and I-pin are currently residing in Japan...they were saved by Lanchia." the mention of her dear friend's name sent sad waves of emotion in Tsuna who lets out a shuddering sigh, "Lanchia will rest peacefully knowing that they are safe." she smiled sadly, 'At least, his actions weren't in vain.'
"Did you give the fallen a proper burial?" she asked hoarsely.
Bermuda pressed his lips together under all the bandages, memories of the fallen comrades who participated in the battle entered his mind, the Vongola mansion was in ruin after, blood splattered everywhere like a ghastly painting, the air was heavy with the iron and acrid from all the blood and gunpowder, the whole scene was a massacre.
Bermuda was gruesomely impressed that Vongola wasn't completely wiped. The whole attack was of large scale, a battalion formed by 20 rival Famiglie.
Vongola only had themselves, Lanchia, Dino with several of his men including Romario.
And to be able to disable the enemy with only one third of their men and few of their allies shows just how powerful Vongola is, even though separated.
"We gave everyone that we found a burial, with the help of CEDEF and all, it's the all we could do since we didn't manage to stop the attack." indeed, it was their fault.
They are Vindice, the Grim Reapers of the Mafia, they are to ensure the balance of their world. Attacking Vongola is like signing your death away.
Because with Vongola gone, the balance will tip over.
So when Bermuda arrived along with Jager, he couldn't help but to feel devastated, because they-
"Don't blame yourself, Bermuda." It was Tsuna's turn to calm the Arcobaleno, "The attack was sudden, it was planned in utmost secrecy that we didn't see it coming."
"It wasn't supposed to be like this."
Tsuna smiles sadly, honeycomb eyes glistening even under the sun, "But it happened and that's that. No need to mull in the past, let's just worry about our present."
Bermuda stayed silent, "I suppose you have questions."
Tsuna nodded, and after a minute she finally asked, "Who else survived?" the last thing that she remembered was encountering Lanchia and Dino's body, and after that she blacked out.
"The Varia is pissed, many of their subordinates were dead. They want the blood of the remaining enemies."
"Xanxus?"
"Throwing a tantrum."
"Irie and the others?"
"Your mechanic has been..." Bermuda paused. "...having more severe stomach aches as of lately. Giannini is working on some machines to help facilitate construction and your blonde engineer, Spanner, is helping him."
Tsuna, for the first time, sighs in relief, "I'm glad they're safe."
"What about you?"
"I've been well, everyone here is nice, so far I've only met Giotto-san, Ugetsu-san and Signore G." Tsuna simpers to herself, remembering Elena and her mother hen nature. "I've made a new friends as well."
"They still don't know?" Judging by the way they act, Tsuna still haven't told them but he has to be sure.
"Not yet but...I don't think if I can. Won't it mess the timeline? Why am I even in the past?"
"Yes, that's the main concern. Unfortunately the battle is not yet done." Tsuna pressed her lips together, "Did Macchia and Veleno escaped?" she asked in a meek voice.
Macchia Salvatore of the Macchiaccio Famiglia and Veleno di Meloni of the Velenosi Famiglia, the masterminds of the attack, also the most powerful in the rival alliance.
Both speciallized in machines and brute force, but Vongola is still number one in both fields, the reason why the two enemy famiglias never got along with Vongola.
Macchiaccio Famiglia has a deep grudge for the Vongola ever since Vongola Secondo ascended the throne and Daemon's betrayal, that was the start of the Vongola as a Mafia group instead of a Vigilante one.
"I thought I killed him." the words left a vile taste in Tsuna, who is a bit of a pacifist. Believing into talking one out instead of fighting. The amount of people she killed, she can count it with her left hand alone.
"He was saved by one of his subordinates who sacrificed his life so that his boss can escape, Veleno was never there in the first place."
"So they're here? In the past?"
"Unfortunately, so far they haven't done anything drastic yet, so we cannot arrest them in this timeline."
"They are here to, what? Destroy Vongola before the second generation come and claims the Famiglia? or to kill future Secondo."
"It's been a long time, Decima, Vongola and Macchiaccio once had a peaceful treaty but after Secondo's betrayal, said treachery turned into a story, pass down generations after generations, slowly fabricating a completely different story, turning Giotto the bad guy in their eyes." Bermuda sighs.
"That's..."
"Macchiaccio's Primo Don's grudge is so deep that it transcended through time and corrupted Macchia's mind into thinking destroying Vongola is the only way to cope."
"What did Vongola Secondo did to gain such hatred?" Tsuna asked, biting her lower lip, she has heard of the second boss from Timoteo himself, he was the fear, the beast of the Mafia, the reason why Vongola has a bloody and horrifying past.
"Secondo has killed Macchiaccio Primo's family right in front of him." Bermuded responded grimly, Tsuna gasps from shock, "It was because Macchiaccio Primo refused to join his side after Vongola Primo retreated to Japan. In contrary of popular belief, alliance only exist of the boss of two Famiglia are on good terms. When Vongola Primo was forcefully retired and in Japan, Macchiaccio Primo also retreated from the alliance, refusing to team up with a brash and vile Don."
"And Vongola Secondo didn't like it so..." Tsuna didn't finish her sentence as vile fills her throat, the familiar sting of her eyes return, "How sinful."
"Why didn't I know this sooner? Why didn't Nonno Nono?" Tsuna remembered Timoteo telling her the past of the Famiglia, never once was the ordeal with Macchiaccio Primo was mentioned, not even a small mention.
Bermuda shakes his head and floats up, "That's because Vongola Secondo didn't deem it important, he forgot about it soon after and even attempted to pull a Damnatio Memoriae(1) on Giotto."
"Damnatio Memoriae..." Tsuna remembers it from her few latin lessons.
"So he tried to erase everything about Giotto, every documents, killed every previous allies or converted them on his side, that's why he was the fear of the Underworld."
"But someone managed to prevent Giotto from not existing in our generation." Tsuna states.
Bermuda hums, "No one can erase Vongola Primo, the founder of Vongola Famiglia, he's that powerful."
Remembering the kind blonde man, Tsuna smiles unconsciously to herself, she remembered every gesture, every visit that he made, the times he attempted to talk to her, to make her smile, "He's too kind to be erased." she whispers, almost dreamily.
Bermuda raised an eyebrow at the tone of her voice, that tone, he heard of it rarely, but surely it embedded in his mind as he rarely hears it in the Underworld.
Tsuna snapped out of it and shakes her head, "So you transported me here to prevent Macchia and Veleno?" The purpose is clear at this point, Tsuna just needed confirmation to do it.
"..."
"Yes."
1: Damnatio memoriae is a modern Latin phrase meaning "condemnation of memory", indicating that a person is to be excluded from official accounts. Meaning everything about that person will be erased, including documents with their names and even the mere mention. For example, Cleopatra.
A/n: So... the Vongola Guardians' Status: UNKNOWN!
We now learn the cause of the attack and who are the masterminds, Macchia and Veleno. I will try my best write them like proper villains and maybe dwelve further in their personalities, maybe more on Macchia, for me Veleno is more of an extra, like a sidekick!
Who said everyone in the Vongola is dead, lmao, not me! Reborn is alive and shooting, he'll appear soon.
Is this better than the previous plot? :3. Has my writing skills improved?
Addio per adesso!
