冰雪之路 (The Ice Path)

I feel my foot slip again. Luckily, Lan Zhan held his arm over my shoulders tightly. I look up. I could barely see through all this snow. The wind was dragging me down. The snow and the cold were ripping through me.

"Lan Zhan." I say.

"Hm?" He looks at me.

"The dagger... it's getting heavier." I say.

"Hold on." He says.

"You two okay down there?!" Mai Yin yells.

"Fine!" I call.

She nods and turns. I look down. I see the blood dripping from my side. Am I really fine? I'm terrified. I'm honestly terrified right now. I know I don't show it, but I'm terrified. Every minute. Every second goes by, and I wonder if he'll take over or not. What if this just a waste of time? I remember asking Lan Zhan what would happen why I die.

"Lan Zhan." I say.

"What?" He asks.

"Do you believe I'll die soon?" I ask.

He stops and just looks at me. He turns and continues up the track. I look down. It's a hard question I know, but he's carrying me so I have to ask. I look down. I can't help but feel guilty.

"Am I dragging you?" I ask.

"What?" He asks.

I push off of him.

"I can walk myself." I cough.

"No." He says.

"What?" I ask.

He grabs my arm.

"You can't. Let me help you." He says.

I turn away from him.

"Wei Ying, please." He says.

"Okay, fine." I say.
