The New Servant

"WHAT?"A yell echoed through the office as police chief tried in vain to calm his officer down."Mr. Wang, it's only temporary. We just need you to collect enough evidence for us to convict and capture them!"The officer, a Chinese man by the name of Wang Yao, glared at his boss sullenly, crossing his arms sulkily."But a servant?" He whined. "I'm going to lose all respect from my peers, aru!""Mr. Wang, this is not optional." His boss's words had a hint of warning in them. "Go now, unless you want to find yourself in trouble."Yao glared at him furiously before getting up abruptly and stomping out of the room.//There goes all my dignity, dammit.//

A few moments later Yao found himself glaring at his partners, all who were spazzing with laughter.

"A servant? Really?""Dude, that's the lamest disguise ever!""'Least it fits your personality, hehe!""Shut up aru!" Snapped Yao angrily, face scarlet. Turning his back on them, he stomped over to the cab waiting for him and slid into the back seat, trying to ignore his jeering companions from outside."Where we going, miss?" Drawled the taxi driver.Yao gave him the meanest look he could muster, hearing the howling laughter of his 'comrades' outside."101 nan feng Street," He said furiously. "And call me miss one more time, and you'll wake up in handcuffs aru!!"The taxi driver gave him a fearful look before starting to drive, leaving the laughter of all the other policemen far behind

[Zao's side]

Zao flopped onto the couch of the huge mansion. Well, it would be his if his father was to pass it down to him." Young master, your tea is ready." The old butler bowed as he set the tea down on the table." I'll be there soon aru..." Zao mumbled as he got up unwillingly and made his way to the table." Have you heard there's a new servant coming today!""Really?""Well, that's what I've heard..."The little conversation above was the gossiping of two maids that Zao just happened to catch."I thought we had enough." Zao stated turning around to the two gossiping maids."Well, apparently, as I've heard he's going to be your personal servant." A maid answered."Another eye to watch me from father right...?" Zao mumbled to himself as he took a sip of the tea.//This is going to become interesting..//

[A few hours later]

Yao waited impatiently for the accursed door to open, shuffling back and forth for warmth. It had started to rain lightly, and that itself wasn't that great either.

//I swear, as soon as I get back to the station, I'm gonna kill my boss//

The door suddenly opened, and Yao found himself face-to-face with a Chinese boy about his age...maybe a little older? He couldn't really tell.He had choppy black hair and a confused look on his face as he opened the door. For a minute, Yao couldn't think of anything to say....This guy was kinda cute.

"Um...Do you need any assistance, miss?"That certainly jolted Yao out of his thoughts, and he promptly flipped the boy off angrily."Well, I don't need YOUR assistance, but apparently you need mine when it comes to distinguishing gender." He flipped him off again. "Because I. Am. A. Boy. And I had come to be the new servant, but apparently my new employer is an idiot who can't tell boys and girls apart aru!!!!"He glared at him, rage dancing in his eyes, as if daring him to respond.

"Then why do you have a ponytail?" Zao muttered after coming out of his daze, he stepped aside so the other could get in. He felt his heart skip a beat the moment he set his eyes on him, he was something different...

Anyways how old are you? I mean we don't exactly do the most legal things but I don't think we employ underage servants." Zao stated closing the door. He took another good look at the boy.He was wearing a traditional Chinese wear that would've been out of place for most but surprisingly not for the boy in front of him. He had shoulder length hair, colour of chestnuts that was tied loosely with a red string. Their facial features were shockingly similar except for the eyes. While Zao had blood red ones that reeked of menace, the other had golden, sharp eyes that seemed to be able to look through all disguises and masks.

"19," Huffed Yao, making his way inside. //Damn, this place was fancy. Obviously this boy and his family were well off from their presumably illegal activities. //Yao thought as he looked around for somewhere to leave his (thin) coat. "Mr.Lu, I think he should be shown around aru." Zao commanded seeing Yao's actions."This way please." The old butler bowed to Yao as he started to lead Yao around the house. Yao gave Zao a final glare before following the old butler apprehensively.

//Well, we're off to a great start here...//Zao thought, rolling his eyes as he went upstairs preparing to make preparations for bed.

[Yao's side]

//Great job, me,// Yao thought to himself sarcastically. //You're supposed to be getting closer to the guy and instead, you yelled at him and flipped him off. Twice. My boss will be so pleased...//

He nearly fell into the butler, he was so absorbed in his thoughts.

"Ai-yaa...I'm sorry, Mr," He apologized.

"It's alright. Well, the tour's around finished, all you have to do is to keep an close eye on young master and report to me daily. He might seem cold and unfriendly at first but it's just on the outside, please be generous with him...He's been through a lot." The old butler exhorted before leading Yao to his room which was beside Zao's.

" Good night and I'll see you tomorrow." And with that the butler left closing the door gently behind him, leaving Yao to examine the room.

"Been through a lot," Muttered Yao in disbelief, gazing at the luxurious room he was in. "Yeah, sure, poor guy."

He rolled his eyes as he got ready for bed, settling himself in the role of his mission.

//I hope I can pull this off.//
