Disconnection

We have disconnected from reality, yet what's worse is the inability to break free.

The amount of food wasted is enough to end world hunger.

The amount of energy wasted mindlessly scrolling through social media is enough to power a country.

The amount of time wasted competing trying to climb over each other on the corporate ladder is enough to fill the next millennium.

Sadly, none of us are ignorant to this, yet we can't escape our own constructed reality... at least not alone.

The Dalai Lama once said that if one believes themselves too small to make a difference, one should try sleeping with a mosquito. Whilst this is insightful, a single mosquito is nothing more than an annoyance, however, a mosquito's strength is not its ability to enrage its blood bank but is the ability to lay hundreds of thousands of eggs at a time. A mosquito's strength is its community.

There is strength in numbers and together the whole is larger than the sum of its parts, but our current reality divides us like dominoes that are just too far apart. Our potential as the human race is squandered; we place selfish wants above societal needs and find infinite distractions from the growing elephant in the room. But how much longer can this persist?

We need to stop running this rat race. We need to face the true problems. We need to disconnect from our false construct of reality to reconnect as a wholesome community.

But we can't do it alone.
