If Palutena found out, he was definately going to be in trouble. He had never broken one her rules before, and he had never purposely gone against one of her commands. He greatly feared the consequences since Palutena had never punished him for anything. "She can't do anything if she never catches you." Those thoughts of his were becoming far more frequent than he could handle.
Pit quickly reached his room and hid under his bed acting as though he was there the entire time. He was absolutely terrified and couldn't keep himself from shaking. The fear of consequence and of the foreign angel kept him from being able to calm down. He clutched his Palutena Bow close to him as he lay on the floor hoping that he could safely stay there. The sound of a group approaching scared him even more as he kept thinking of the worst.
"Pit!" he heard Palutena call. She sounded distressed as if that hadn't been her first attempt to call him. His thoughts must have distracted him from her voice.
"Lady Palutena...I'm still here," he quietly spoke. He saw the goddess sit on her knees before peeking under the bed. She gave a smile of relief and joy when she saw him.
"It's okay now. You can come out from under there. Everything is being taken care of," Palutena spoke. Her voice was reassuring and calm despite the battles going on outside her temple. Those battles seemed to be dying out. The temple had yet to shake from them any longer. "I'm glad you're safe. Someone came looking for you just now. I was so worried." Palutena pulled him to his feet once he was out in the open. He dropped his bow and didn't hesitate to hug his goddess, his adoptive mother. "Everything is alright now," Palutena reassured as she hugged him back.
Pit couldn't believe those words. For the first time, he truly did not believe Palutena when she told him things would be okay. Palutena had told him that someone had been looking for him, but he had been there. He'd seen what happened. The angel with six wings was not looking for him, and she knew more than Palutena told him about. That angel had been a subject of Medusa, yet her wings didn't reflect such. Not a single feather was black or even gray like her attire. Not only that, but there was also an oblivious angel that Pit knew nothing about.
"Lady Palutena, when this is all over, I think I'm going to stay inside," Pit muttered as he pulled away from her.
"That's for the best. The scene outside won't be very pretty. You'll be safer in here anyway," Palutena said with a nod. She didn't seem to suspect him of anything, and he luckily hadn't said anything to make him seem suspicious.
"She's going to hurt you. She knows you were there." The thought was for sure not his own. The voice he heard in his mind sounded nothing like him. The far fetched theory left him petrified as he stared at Palutena trying his best not to give his thoughts away. There was no way Palutena would ever hurt him, right?
"If you need anything, just call. I'll come to help you," Palutena noted before she left his room. Pit managed one of his signature smiles despite the terror hidden in his heart. Once she was likely far away from him, he collapsed to his knees and let out a breath of relief.
"I am Pit...servant of the goddess of light," he said to himself. "I am her light, her protector, and greatest warrior. No harm will come to me so long as I am by her side. Not even the greatest forces in the heavens could stop the two of us together." He often recited this to himself whenever he was feeling overly stressed or afraid as he was now.
"Your times of ignorance are over. Wake up and think. Why are you the only one who has no idea what Palutena was talking about when she spoke to that angel?"
"No. No, no, no, that's not why. That angel was lying about Lady Palutena. My mother would never cause harm to others like that," Pit muttered knowing what the voice in his head was implying.
"Then why didn't she deny it? Why didn't she say something about it?" The voice had a point. Palutena hadn't denied the enemy angel when she'd spoken of the wrongs Palutena had supposedly done.
"Shut up, shut up, shut up! Go away!" Pit muttered as he held his head. He crouched down to the ground and covered his ears to block out the voice. Nothing else was said for a while, and Pit stood up from where he had been on the floor. He was unsure of what else to do with his time, but he made sure to stay clear of Palutena and the outside of the temple. No one questioned it since it wouldn't have been the first time Pit spent the rest of his day in his room.
The moment night fell on the land, Pit told everyone their nighttime farewells and returned to his room. He didn't hesitate to sleep with his bow at his side for protection against anything or anyone that might have been left in the temple from the earlier fighting. He had yet to look outside at the devastation from the day's battles knowing that the scene was likely still sickening. The last time he'd been on a battlefield, he distinctly remembered there being death, dark winged angels desperate to stop him, and lots of unpleasant sights. Pit did not like fighting, yet he knew it was far too common to just suddenly stop.
"Hey! Wake up! Someone's here!" Pit snapped his eyes open when he heard the voice in his head warn him. Strangely enough, he felt like someone else was in the room with him. At first, he remained still and listened, but there was nothing to hear. "Come on! Don't just stay there! Do something!" the voice said. It was right of course, and Pit already knew something needed to be done. He quickly got out of bed swinging the Palutena Bow threateningly as he did.
He was met with a surprise having immediately been unarmed and pulled into a hold he couldn't escape with his own weapon being pressed against his neck. Before he could cry out for help, a hand went over his mouth to silence him. The shadows of six wings aside from his own let him know exactly who it was that had ambushed him in his sleep. He began to try getting help anyway despite his cries being muffled and unheard.
"Hey, no, calm down. I'm not here to hurt you. I'm not going to hurt you, so please just calm down," the angel spoke. Her voice held no agression and she lowered his weapon until she dropped it to the floor. The angel was quick to grab on of his arms to keep him restrained in her hold, but at least now he wasn't in as much danger.
Even so, he continued to cry out and struggle to break free to no avail. She had caught hold of one of his wings to keep him from hitting her with his now free arms. Pit felt the tears running down his face as he began to feel even more helpless against this enemy. "You're a true servant of light. I would never harm you. Just call down. I only wish to talk and I promise I'll leave right away," the angel said.
The angel continued to shush him with her hushed voice. The sound was surprisingly soothing being that she was so close to him. Slowly but surely, he stopped stuggling and remained still. The voice in his head had yet to give him any advice although he doubted he would have even listened.
"Thank you. I'll try tell you this quickly, but then I must go," the angel said as she let his wing go and slipped his laurel crown off of his head. It dropped to the floor with a soft clink. Without it, Palutena wouldn't be able to hear him call out to her, but it was still close enough to pick up his voice. Pit reached up to pull the angel's hand away from his mouth, yet she wouldn't allow him to. "Sorry, I can't do that just yet. I'm still not sure if you'll call for help or not. You probably still think I'm your enemy," the angel spoke.
She wrapped her free arm around his torso to keep him from escaping although her hold on him was loose. "It's up to you whether you believe what I have to say or not. I saw you there earlier so I know you saw a different side of the goddess of light today," the angel began. "You aren't safe here. For some reason, I keep getting a bad feeling about it even though I don't really know you. I'm warning you now though. Leave here as soon as you can. I'd be glad to help you escape and find somewhere safe for you."
Pit had been listening, but he squirmed in her hold wanting to ask her something. Being kept from doing so, he had to think of a way to gain her attention. His hand caught hold of one of her wings' feathers and he gave a light tug, immediately catching her attention.
"What?" she asked. Once again he lightly tugged at her wrist asking that he be released. He wouldn't call for Palutena's help since he actually wanted to speak with this angel. She was reluctant to let him go, but Pit was soon free. He remained silent and lightly kicked his weapon and laurel crown away from the area before sitting down on the floor. The angel sat down as well but put some space between them since she had been so close to him earlier.
"Why are you doing this? Why are you telling me these things?" Pit inquired. Sure he had thought about leaving to see a little of the world, but those thoughts always included plans to return. This angel spoke of not coming back.
"I'm telling you this because you're probably the only angel left worth saving. I'm not even included in that. You have a pure sense of right and wrong. You don't serve Medusa and you desire to do only good. I could see it in you right before I vanished," the angel said. She seemed genuine in her answers.
"Can I really trust you? You're my enemy and you're telling me to go against my mother. You could be plotting something," Pit said. He didn't want to believe her, but he had been there. He heard everything.
"If you suspected me of lying, why are you just now asking me about it? In any case, I'm telling the truth. I said it was up to you if you wanted to believe me or not." The angel surely hadn't lied to him. She was definately only speaking from what she knew. "Here. Take this. It's a relocation charm. All you'd need to do to activate it is break it. This little thing here should transport you to some place outside of the temple once I set it up on my way out. I'll know whenever you use it. Just fly on out of this place, and I can get you somewhere safe," the angel informed.
She held out the small trinket in the shape of a feather. It was rather small, fitting into the palm of his hand without a problem. "I can't fly," Pit quietly admitted as he stared at the charm. He met the angel's gaze as she stared at him with shock. His face flushed with embarrassment having just told her something so unbelievable.
"You aren't joking...wow. Uhh...then I'll come and get you. I'll just need to get here quickly. As soon as you use that, just start running," the angel said with a slight grin before standing up. "I need to go. Palutena might check on you anytime so I can't be here when she does. I hope to meet you again."
"W-wait! Don't go yet," Pit spoke as he also stood and caught hold of one of her six wings again. She looked back at him curiously. His face still burned with embarrassment and now he was entirely flustered. "Your name. I don't know your name," he mumbled as he let her wing go and stared down at the floor.
"(Y/n). My name is (y/n) and I'll be sure to come back for you...Pit," (y/n) said. Pit looked up in surprise wondering how she had already known his name, but when he did, she was already gone. He decided not to linger on the matter and picked up his things. He neglected to put his laurel crown back on and placed his bow back where it belonged since he was no longer worried about being attacked. Returning to his bed, he admired the relocation charm as he waited for sleep to come to him again.
"It's pretty." He thought as he closed it within his hand and held it close to his heart. He felt his heart beat a bit faster as another thought came to mind. "She was pretty too."
