✶。࣪˖ 𝂅⠀𝄒 ❪ 🏴 ❫ by the time he was eleven, when he was allowed to experience, idk, real life ?, he was already like a ghost, just floating about, tailing his brother around. the abuse had lessened in his family, particularly after the birth of his younger brother, hai⎯yi, in 2006, but not so much the crushing emotion of being ❛ othered, ❜ avoided by his classmates and neighbors like a diseased cat⏤ the diseases in question being either tian⎯yun, his cheating mother, or his lawsuit⎯swarmed father. rui himself was nothing, a quiet boy bearing the sins of his brother by being too trusting; a face of cold metal, skin of glass. no matter the words of his teachers, he couldn't quite get his soul back into his unloved body, which guilted him even more. at the end of the year ❪ recap: his father murdered his mother & severely injured the brothers, who were then split up ❫, rui was sent to a host home in thailand.

﹝݁ ⋆ ˒ 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 ❪ 99% ❫ ๋ ˓ rui⎯he, despite moving a lot in his lower childhood, was born and raised in chongqing, in a solely⎯chinese household. his parents were quite the paranoid type, so he also didn't learn any foreign languages as a child ❪ they didn't want him hiding things from them ❫ except for a bit of english, which was ❛ important ❜ to maintain that high society status he had. or whatever. even now, rui is 110% programmed in chinese⏤ its how he thinks, writes, reads ❪ living in japan = confusing kanji 24/7  ❫, and speaks. he has the dialect of chongqing, which has really unique tones, tight vowels, and a generally sing⎯songy cadence⏤ all of which really go well with rui's general rui⎯ness, but make him almost incomprehensible to xi'an native hui ❪ or xuanzi, but he's taiwanese so there's already some difference . . . ❫, or any of the members who were taught mandarin and still are at beginner levels. chongqing dialect has a very attractive quality, so he's noted for the way he talks, on the rare occasion he does ❪ he's super shy 👉👈 guys play the song ❫.
﹝݁ ⋆ ˒ 𝗸𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗻 ❪ 94% ❫ ๋ ˓ he had to integrate into korean culture very quickly upon moving in with his brother, so he dedicated all of the free time he had to studying the language. rui's always been really smart and easy to pick up on things, so as he continuously did lesson after lesson, he was already, like, halfway to proficiency before he started his first semester at hongik. upon starting, he ❪ surprisingly ❫ attracted a lot of people into his orbit and made relationships, so he at least had other people to interact with and practice with.

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅⠀𝄒 fashion style. contrary to popular belief that it is his style that gave him the ❛  dark prince  ❜ nickname, rui⎯he's style does not necessarily exude ❛  expensive  ❜ or ❛  mysterious, ❜ nor does it really reflect his personality per se. really, it reflects his mental, and, frankly, he's got a lot going on up there, which makes styling like, the least of his concerns. rui, most days, just wears anything. rui⎯he's styling situation is unique, however; he has his own habits, of course── he dresses almost uniformly in black, he's a big fan of buying expensive clothes ❪  especially the brands balenciaga and prada  ❫, and he prefers a loose fit or baggy style── but is also required to cover up his skin 90 percent, a rule imposed only on him for all the scarring he has. it's annoying to him ❪  just a random ass punishment for something he can hardly control, since it's alr been done  ❫, but he works around the modesty law. overall, he has a pretty damn good sense of style, but it's like he's allergic to accessorizing⏤ just some mid⎯sleeve shirts, long loose pants, and ❪ by law😒 ❫ a leather, zip⎯up, or suit jacket is what he wears. ⍈

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅⠀𝄒 background information. there is both a lot and only a little that we know about ruoxi, due to the fact that he has a ❛ real ❜ self and a ❛  saint  ❜ self. we first meet who will become ❛  ruoxi  ❜ as an unnamed boy in flashback episode 3 ❪ ❛  meat   ❜ ❫ upon his discovery, ❛❛  alive, ❜❜ alongside six other mutilated bodies⏤ later revealed to be saint sacrifices⏤ in the mountains. as the only survivor, he is taken in for questioning, but runs out of the station into the road where he is promptly hit by a bus, killed, then revived by the EMTs. a few seconds later, we witness something come over the ambulance and him, then he subsequently . . . murders all of the EMTs and essentially hijacks the ambulance? with his new appearance, thus begins the co⎯existence of ruo⎯xi and saint in this new body. he emerges as a serial killer, and he masks himself by pretending to be a university student in the city.

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅⠀𝄒 semantics. the sacrificial ritual where he was found was left unfinished, so the spirit of ❛ saint ❜ was present and found its way into the previous boy's body, lying dormant until his death ❪ the final 7/7 sacrifice ❫. ❛  saint  ❜ was supposed to take over his body completely, but as he was revived from death, they now exist together. ruo⎯xi exists as the sole physical embodiment of saint visible in the series, and so he's technically the ❛  main antagonist.   ❜ but since saint is a delocalized kind of entity, ruo⎯xi is able to carry out his murders and schemes while silent sun simultaneously derives power from and worships saint, and while it exudes power over others.

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅⠀𝄒 personality. ruo⎯xi is pretty much split black and white in most other concerns ❪ about ¾ dead and 75﹪ possessed ❫, but when it comes to his consciousness and personality, there is no such thing as ❛ ruoxi⎯the⎯flesh ❜ and ❛ saint⎯the⎯spirit. ❜ rather, he takes on the heartless entity's affinity for, i don't know, human suffering, and combines it with the fragility and unstable mind of some random guy who was sacrified and brought back to life. the resulting personality is quite unique and almost para⏤human, caught and torn between worlds. so much so, ruoxi essentially has to ❛ re⎯learn ❜ how to be real; he's seen in the background of so many scenes just . . . staring, carefully observing human behavior and mirroring it. this is even recognized by those around him, who describe him as, ❛ a traits collector, like he picks the shiniest parts of everyone and puts them in a pile. ❜ 

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅⠀𝄒 it's most likely a tactic to attract victims, but it works! ruo⎯xi's aligned qualities of charm and allure, with what must be his ❛ natural ❜ traits ⏤ reserved, responsive, spontaneous, independent  ⏤exist in surprisingly perfect harmony with saint's predatory, attractive, and, arcane physicality. it makes him ❛  addictive,  ❜ which allows him to draw in prey, but ❛ sensitive, ❜ which is his weakness. both bear a name, that is, a certain uni student, se⎯kye. ruo⎯xi's involvement with any human is dangerous enough as it is, but romance is like a poison. it is a balance game of truth⏤ where is the line drawn? ⏤and desire⏤ how does one manage an addiction when they are a drug themselves? ⏤that gets increasingly more dangerous as ❛ silent sun ❜ grows in their worship of what's plaguing ruo⎯xi. his psyche is toiled, and he crashes into a monstrous creature of pure desire, but his intelligence remains high. he makes his tricks and avoids every trap, but is slowly hunting himself.

﹝݁ ⋆ ˒ color name ── feel safer now? ⍈ the essence of ruo⎯xi is falling into a false sense of security within beauty or desire. ruo⎯xi eats his prey from within, in that kind of strain, which can give someone the false idea that they are safe when they are not killed immediately, when in reality, it is a slow and grueling pain. in rui's case, it is the inverse⏤ he can never feel safe anywhere, and there is no escaping danger when you yourself are the enemy. the color #9adbcb is a pastel minty blue⎯green hue, typically associated with motifs of ❛ tranquility, ❜ ❛ foliage, ❜ and ❛ disarm, ❜ all reminiscent of safety. it is, again, a trick towards prey⏤ there is no safety, no peace, here.

﹝݁ ⋆ ˒ element ── drug ⍈ as frequently referenced, ruoxi is like a drug to his victims, as is beauty in general. the japanese of drug is ❛ 薬 ❜ ❪ kusuri ❫, which looks very similar to ❛ 楽 ❜ ❪ raku ❫, meaning comfort and ease. essentially, he is disguising a dangerous ❛ drug, ❜ himself, as something to be trusted. in literal terms, drugs eat you from within, as can desires and rot, which are tertiary things that saint represents in general, and as the only embodiment of it, they represent ruo⎯xi as well. basically, it is something under the table and under the flesh, that tells you, ❛ peace is hidden violence of mind. ❜
