✶。࣪˖ 𝂅︐ after six whole years of this unhealthy behavior, something finally snapped. arisu was hospitalized in a mental institution and subsequently retired from surfing. he flew out to south korea in 2012 to audition for sm entertainment, which was suggested by his therapist. after that was a bust, he eventually met riei at a coffee shop and became a trainee.

❚ ゅ⭑ even though ro–se–na lives closer to arisu than any of his other family members, they are the least close in terms of their relationship. in fact, they have not talked since 2015 ❪ that last conversation also happened to be argument ❫. growing up, ro–se–na was the origin of many problems for the family, especially after kyung–su's death. the way arisu sees it, she caused unnecessary problems because of her lack of emotional control and added stress that no one needed to the family– the way she sees it, she knows she was wrong, but just needed to be comforted in her emotional expression, not berated with pointed fingers. after all these years, arisu still doesn't like her.

❚ ゅ⭑ korean ❪ 100% ❫ ๋ ˓ after growing up in a korean-speaking household his entire childhood, it's only natural that this is the language that comes easiest to him. in every situation, despite having lived in japan for six years, his brain defaults everything to korean. as of now, he currently speaks a weird, japanese-tone influenced version of the busan dialect, which is native to where he grew up and was the dialect he used at his house. he's also good at korean on a scholarly level ❪ hello overachiever ❫, and is quite skilled in the linguistics of the language, as well as proficient in reading.
❚ ゅ⭑ english ❪ 100% ❫ ๋ ˓ over the course of some-thirteen years he spent with his uncle, in addition to surfing lessons, he also learned how to speak english. now, earlier in his life, the way he spoke english was a thousand percent influenced by the 26-year-old surfer that he lived with, meaning the socal surfer dialect was strong and very noticeable. also, quite hard for him to learn on his korean-trained tongue. eventually, he got the hang of it and easily slipped into fluency. he thought he would lose his skills by becoming a trainee, but there is quite a large community of english-speakers ❪ and californians ❫ at the happy star.
❚ ゅ⭑ japanese ❪ 96% ❫ ๋ ˓ literally everyone at the happy star is required to know at least basic japanese, what with it being a japanese company and all. a large majority of the members in the group have japanese as their primary language, and communication is extremely important to arisu. he isn't the greatest at speaking japanese ❪ usually he just mixes the words up from korean ❫, but he is understandable and generally well-spoken if he talks, like, a word a minute. on paper, he's fluent, and really, that's all that matters, even though he, once again, literally lives in japan.

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅︐ fashion style. when arisu dresses himself ❪ read: when he doesn't lose to his practically government assigned stylist ❫, he always opts towards things that are clean, simple, and straight. he rarely accessories past a jacket, to be honest; he doesn't even have a bag, and just carries everything he needs in his pockets, which is a bold move. as for the color palette, it is predominantly muted tones upon muted tones– browns, tans, cool grays, mixes of subdued blues, and, of course, blacks. arisu's clothing requirements are ... unique, to say the least. everything has to be loose-fit and thin, or slightly thick and oversized, except the jackets which he wears in just-right sizes; he cannot wear anything skin tight or figure-hugging, it literally makes his skin crawl just thinking about it. overall, he likes his clothes to be easy, not something he has to unwrap like a russian doll. ⍈

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅︐ shoes. his range of footwear choices is extremely narrow, especially when compared to the other members. he has a whopping amount of about ten ❪ actually 8 ❫ shoes in his entire collection, but he moslty rewears the same five: white sneakers, black loafers, brown sneakers, black boots, or some ridiculously comfy crocs. he buys basic shoes because, one, he dresses basic anyways, and two, well, it's easy. ⍈

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅︐ accessories. to put it simply, arisu is not the accessory type. if you want details, he doesn't carry a bag because he would rather use his pockets to their full capacity, and he doesn't like to wear bracelets or necklaces often because they feel cold on his skin. when he does decide to wear jewelry, they are generally simple and ❛ dainty ❜ little pieces, without any charms or weight to them. aside from that, he does actually have a bag ❪ which is puffy and brown and from my mum made it ❫ that he only uses for trips and exceptionally long days at work. he also has an apple watch and a prada airpods case, if that counts for anything. ⍈

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅︐ hairstyles. arisu prefers to leave his hair marginally long, either cradling his face or past his shoulders── it's just how he grew up styling it and it's the most familiar to him. longer hair, he's also figured, has always suited him better than anything else. he's had his hair short before ❪ riei's choice, definitely not his ❫, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. it was when he first debuted, and earlier wounds were still quite fresh, so when she cut it, it felt like the equivalent of his arm being torn off; in reality, he didn't recognize himself with the short hair, and felt like he had become something wholly unfamiliar. even since then, arisu hasn't touched it unless to give it a slight trim. he likes his hair best in dark colors, but he thought blonde was ❛ okay ❜. ⍈

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅︐ background information. though a key character, bon–jil's parents are never referenced in the show, and he remains one of the few characters whose childhood details are unrevealed. according to his character introduction in the fourth episode, he ends up as a member of silent sun via invite, courtesy of one of his fellow teacher coworkers ❪ episode 4 – ❛ california motel ❜ ❫, when he was still relatively new to the school. the coworker ends up being killed, but by then bon–jil has already been integrated.

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅︐ personality. bon–jil is an extremely intelligent and observant character. prior to attending silent sun, he was a bright, well–rounded and resourceful man, though quite reserved and aloof. he made his decisions with rationality with bias of neither heart nor instinct. the observant type, he was well–liked and popular amongst his coworkers, though mostly alone. upon integrating himself into the sect, bon–jil takes a nosedive into his distanced behavior. he begins to use his ingenuity as a tool, only working for himself and doing what will benefit him the greatest amount. he becomes, self-admittedly, a selfish person, seen through his manipulation of several characters ❪ such as ri–bon ❫, and his apathetic approach to various scenarios, including those that involve the risk of his own life. 

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅︐ other than the real world, it is clear that bon–jil is not loyal to much else. as he works against his curiosity and wants, he focuses on getting out of silent sun, carefully calculating every possible outcome, rather than creating useless hypotheticals. bon–jil's dedication to these processions, however, render him blind to the other events that happen around and within him– such as his withdrawal from others and depleting general enjoyment of life. 

✶。࣪˖ 𝂅︐  following his subsequent possession by saint ❪ episode 12 – ❛ time of hate ❜❫, his grip on what he believes is true and reality slips a bit, and he becomes deeply involved in pursuing the entity, rather than attempting to leave the sect. this causes him to doubt the reality he has put a great deal of support and loyalty into, leading him into several self-destructive and self–contradictory afflictions. different from the other characters, bon–jil does not have a specific desire that leaves him vulnerable to saint; rather, it is his blind faith in empirical evidence that leads him into dangerous curiosity, and, eventually, defenseless.

❚ ゅ⭑ color name ── take it ⍈ the color #ad2a2a is a deep red with orange undertones. this color is not supposed to represent blood, despite popular opinion; actually, it's intended to represent a sunset, or, more specifically, the waning period between day and night. this red-orange represents an in-between period of darkness and light. bon–jil, as a person, is a representation of this color, because he is caught between the darkness of reality, selfishness, and the light of desires, curiosity. both sides call out to him, tempting him to reach out and ❛ take it, ❜ hence the name.

❚ ゅ⭑ object ── vanilla cake ⍈ both arisu and bon–jil are allergic to vanilla. concurrently, both lose to the temptation of simple curiosity, which for arisu might be sneaking in a bite of cake or a lick of a sundae, and for bon–jil is the entering of a cult and pursuit of a wordless being. the vanilla cake signifies the danger of curioisity, and the lack of control over human temptation that they share. it demonstrates human weakness that is present even in the case of something as inconsequential as dessert.

❚ ゅ⭑ element ── blood ⍈ if it hasn't already clicked, bon–jil represents weakness, curiosity, and realism. in that same vein, another of arisu's weaknesses is highlighted: his fear of blood. it's contrary to his character, who has a strange, self-destructive fascination with the potent red color. bon–jil's element is blood because it is common to all humans, and a weak point of all humans. this is represented by his post– and pre– possession affliction of creating injuries on himself in order to prove his reality.
