"So I have like a month to live?" Chaeyoung asked the doctor as he said, "no, the surgery might go well," and she interrupted, "it won't, just like the others before!" Giving a painful smile a sigh escaped the girl's lips as she got up from her chair and went outside.

Looking up at the sky a sigh escaped her soft lips as she licked them. Instantly the taste of medicines hit her mouth but she has already gotten used to it by now. She kicked a stone in her path as she walked back towards her home to pack the clothes, she is leaving for Korea tomorrow, to attend college.

By now Chaeyoung has accepted her approaching death and she entered the house quietly, closing the door behind. She soaked in the walls of her house, her childhood home, in Australia. The home where her mother left the home where her father died due to constant depression.

Technically it contradicted the idea of home and she went to her room. While packing she just made one thing sure, she had to do it before the month ends, she has to confess to Jungkook.

The next day, the flight landed, and Chae found herself walking out of the airport with her bags towards her college dorms. However much she wanted to be lively this month some recurring force pulled her back and she couldn't even think properly.

She took out the keys as they jingled in her door lock and was welcomed by the familiar sight of Jungkook, her roommate, playing games and screaming at the television.

Exhaling, she kept her bags down as she walked towards her room in the shared apartment. This boy won't get off the darn game even if a volcano erupts, she thought to herself as she started to wash.

The familiar smell of soap filled the apartment and that is when Jungkook realised Chaeyoung was back, as he put the game to an end and went towards her room. He saw the suitcases outside and decided to help her and took them inside.

He opened one of the suitcases and saw a pale yellow file placed neatly on top of every clothes. Curiosity got the best of him as he picked it up and opened it.

"Ductal carcinoma in situ-" his voice faded off as he realised Chaeyoung had cancer. Listing up all the symptoms he realised why Chaeyoung always wore dark coloured clothes, to hide. "She has breast cancer," Jungkook whispered to himself as he turned the pages fast just to see the thing he had dreaded- she is in the fourth stage.

Disbelief swam in his eyes as he felt anger and sadness build up inside him- anger because Chaeyoung never told him, her roommate, sadness because he knows now that he has only one more month left with her.

"Jungkook what are you doing?" Chaeyoung screamed internally as she saw him holding the file. Tears threatened to fall from his eyes as he looked down and gave Chaeyoung back her file. He hurriedly left the room as Chaeyoung just stood there not knowing what to do.

Hurriedly putting on her clothes she came outside and scanned her eyes just to see Jungkook sitting on the couch staring at nothing. "So, how are you?" Chaeyoung tried to strike up a conversation as Jungkook looked at her with bloodshot eyes.

"Do not talk to me," he pouted as Chaeyoung giggled. God, why had she fallen so hard for this boy? "Well quit being a baby Jeon, let's enjoy the time we have," Chaeyoung suggested.

"How could you not tell your best fucking friend, your roommate that you had cancer?" he wanted to scream but his voice came out meekly because of the lump in his throat.

"Jungkook, I didn't want you to worry," she looked at him just to see his doe eyes filled with water. "Get on the damn couch, we are going to watch movies," Jungkook commanded as Chaeyoung raised her eyes.

"Excuse me?" Chae asked and Jungkook said, "You heard me, I am doing this because I will recreate everything in this month so you better get your ass to sit here." Also because I love you and don't want to lose you, Jungkook's inside voice said as he kept quiet.

"Yes sir!" Chaeyoung said laughing at his childish instincts and went to get her small blanket to wrap around herself. For the past three months, Chaeyoung had been chasing Jungkook.

Well not exactly chasing, but she kind of made sure to mess up his dates with other girls and even though it was not the best thing she enjoyed it as he ranted to her about the messed-up date.

But now the time had come for her to be mature, to tell her feelings to him. But she was very afraid, afraid of rejection, afraid even if he loves her back. Because at the end of the day she is going to leave.

Brushing these thoughts aside she plopped herself down on the couch beside Jungkook as he searched for a movie. The month flew by as they did everything they could. They went to their favourite café, amusement parks, and movie halls.

One day, Chaeyoung got a notification on her phone, her diagnosis date, which was after three days, as she was lying on the dorm couch. She got up and sighed as she sunk in the walls. This was her real home, the plastered walls made her feel more at the hearth.

The next day, Jungkook skipped towards the apartment door and as he opened it he felt something missing, someone's presence. He went towards Chae's room and saw everything in its place except Chaeyoung. He saw a small note on her table and saw Chaeyoung's writing, "Off to Australia for surgery, take care!"

Jungkook almost screamed as he quickly searched for a flight and instantly ran to an airport. As soon as he reached Australia he gave a call to Chaeyoung as she picked up. "Hey Jay-"and Jungkook cut her off, "send your location, no questions asked."

Jungkook reached her house as he repeatedly rang the doorbell and Chaeyoung opened up and before she could say anything he said, "I love you."

"what-"Chaeyoung asked as Jungkook cut her off again saying, "I love you Chae and I know you love me too and I just don't want you to leave."

He broke down as Chaeyoung slowly dragged her to the couch and she made him sit down as he continued crying. "Jungkook, look at me, listen promise me one thing, whatever happens, be happy alright?" Chaeyoung said as Jungkook looked at her.

Tilting her face up he leaned in as he placed a kiss on her lips, soft like feather as Chaeyoung kissed back. Their salty lips mixed into a loving moment. Maybe living the moment is the best thing they could do right now.

Now, you can imagine it yourselves, either Chaeyoung died or she lived with Jungkook happily. Yeah, the second choice sounds like a fairy-tale lol.
