Chapter 1
Dr. Fox ran down the hallways of her school. How late was she to class? 2 minutes? 10 minutes? An hour? She finally barged through the door of Science Room 1 and sat down, making a big scene about it and flailing her binder down on her desk. Mr. A, an anthropomorphic monkey, looked at the clock that hung up on his blue walls.
"You are 5 minute late, Ms. Fox. AGAIN. What was the emergency this time?" he questioned with authority to Dr. Fox.
"Nothing, sir." she replied while looking at the ground in shame.
"Well, then. Let's continue." he said sternly and began again with his long lecture.
It was one month ago, just one month, that she, Dr. Fox, was so close to doing the extraordinary. That was also the same day that science backfired on her. LITERALLY. The day that an explosion so impactful and strong found a way to knock off her right arm, and then she ended up in the hospital. The day that the tables turned on her. After that day, she shut herself up in her lab and never spoke to anyone ever again, the day she forbade any feelings to come to her. No sadness, no anger, no love. Only determination to accomplish the impossible in the world of science. To be one of the best scientists in the Unikingdom...no, in the WORLD. All of the awards she would win, all of the praise she would get, it was just one experiment, one dream away...
"MS. FOX! Are you listening to me or not?" Mr. A's voice cut through her train of thought. She dozed off again, dreaming about the brilliance of what she will do when she gets out of this school forever, when she graduates. Man, the teachers were strict here. Well, it is the UOS, anyhow. She doesn't even know how she got into this school. The UOS,(University Of Science), was one of the highest, most prestigious university any scientist could go to. It was her dream to go here, just like her mother. Maybe that's why she got in. A dream.
"I'm listening you, sir." she replied in a timid voice, although she only took notes that took up an eighth of the page. "Boy, I can't wait until I graduate from this school." she murmured.
There was a sudden knock on the door. Without warning, the princess of the entire kingdom burst in with a big, cheery smile on her face. It was the princess's duty to check up on the students every day, so she went to one classroom every day. Ironically, she had chosen Dr. Fox's. All of the students, including Mr. A, bowed down in respect. Princess Unkitty scanned around the room and took a quick glimpse at Dr. Fox, who bowed down in respect. "DR. FOX!" Unikitty yelled at the top of her lungs.
"Yes Mam?"
Unikitty gave a small laugh. "Doc, your my friend! My BFF! Quit acting like a hoity-toity and say hi to me!"
"Hey, Unikitty." she replied shyly.
"Now THAT'S MORE LIKE IT! So, howyadoinwithyourbigopportunityinscienceandall?" She excitedly squashed her words together.
"Oh, it's fine, I'm just trying to get used to the new stuff..." she said while she looked down at her prosthetic arm. The class murmured and whispered. Dr. Fox tried to block out the sound.
Unikitty must of noticed, because she floated over and spoke to her.
"Aw, it's fine that you're different from everyone else, Dr. Fox. Real arm or not, I still consider you my friend."
"Thanks, Unikitty." Dr. Fox said, slightly blushing.
"OKAY! See you all soon!" Unikitty exclaimed, and she pranced out of their room and down the hallway.
"Well. THAT went by fast." Mr. A said while staring at Dr. Fox, as she hid her face in shame. "Continuing with my lecture once again..."
But Mr. A was interrupted by the bell.
"Never mind. Class dismissed. See you all tomorrow." he said with his monotone voice, as the class, Dr. Fox in the lead, rushed out the main doors of UOS.
