Day Eight: Blind Spot

The news of his mother death really didn't affect him all that much. He knew how he should feel but couldn't muster the emotion no matter how many times he watched Endgame. Maybe it was because he already lost his father, Denzel Veins back when he turned twenty, that he couldn't reach the depth of the pain he felt then. Somewhere out there he knew his mother was scowling at him, most likely stating every action she had ever done to raise him lovingly while holding her needles fiercely. Damien found himself smiling at the thought, perhaps he was beyond the pain of losing someone. Maybe he had just lost too many, maybe he had killed too many, or more likely, he was trying too hard to summon an emotion that had long since died.

But, there was one thing that his mother death did to him.

It reminded him that he still had family. Blood relatives that he cut off after finding his true beliefs, to the point where he even disown his surname and never even talked about them to anyone who didn't already know.

This was further when he read her Will and dropped after reading that it said that Dionysus wasn't his cousin as he was lead to believe but his true blood brother.

It amaze him, how one single action can have so many repercussions and regrets. How he could rightly point to the exact day his whole life took another path and changed not only his life but the those he knew and would come to meet. He found himself pondering how different things would be if Maryse were alive. If all things went right, they would ended up married and maybe even adopted Dresden in some twist of fate and they would never even think of joining a satanic church.

Of course then, he probably wouldn't have had Latherna as a adopted daughter.

Damien sighed, as his Bentley took a left turn and he drove down a seemingly quiet street. Every house looked like the picture of a American household, they even had white painted fences and Damien couldn't believe that the big bad Dresden had ended up living in such a place.

Carsden was a classic town but this very street was the reason he hated the town. An emphasis on the fact that no matter what happened Carsden would move on and forget. It was beyond annoying when the town had so much history and the people here could be so much more than ordinary.

He parked in Dresden's driveway and shut of the engine. He took a moment to collect his thoughts but ended up remembering earlier last week when he couldn't even find this place.

Breakfast with Latherna, Dresden and Amarys at Latherna's house had been a hellish event. Meaning it was completely awful yet remarkable at the same time. Damien remember himself making some confusing and confounding comments, this resulted in the No Drinking Before Drawn Rule. But luckily he was saved by the fact that no one even noticed anything odd about him because he already acted strange on a daily basis. Ah, the brilliance of being the so called, Creepy Priest.

However the morning took a more exciting tone when Amarys found out about Latherna's pregnancy and nearly killed Dresden with her blades and glares. She also made Lat confess her pregnancy to Dresden who looked he had just see Mother undress after hearing the news.

Though he wouldn't admit it. He was worried about Dresden for the rest of the day, this resulted in him trying to find Dresden's house.

Damien felt like facepalming at the simple fact that he didn't know this information already. After thinking about the matter he decided not to ask Latherna,(He just imagine how terrified she would be to asked a question like that, mostly likely thinking he needed Dresden's address to do something horribly awful to him.) and instead phoned the school.

"Hello, I'm phoning in connection to a Mister Dresden Veins, I need his home address." This was the only place he could of in connection to Dresden. He realized that he didn't know that much about the man at all.

"Um, I'm sorry, who?"The woman on the other end sounded confused.

"Dresden Veins, he is a teacher at your school and also studied there." Damien answered in a clear voice.

"Dresden.." she muttered to herself, sounding like she was trying to remember something, abruptly her voice shrieked in understanding and exclaimed,"Oh! You mean Big Daddy!" She answered brightly.

Damien paused, took a moment to take in the name, then another one so his brain could process the information.

"No, no. I mean Dresden Veins." He stated,"You must he confused, dear." Please be confused, he prayed silently, please tell me I'm not related to a Big Daddy.

"Yo, Peter, there's this guy on the phone who doesn't know Big Daddy!"He heard the girl shout. Suddenly a loud exclamation came and the phone was being moved around.

"You don't know Big Daddy? He's the man, man, he's the man." Another man had taken the phone from the girl.

Damien let a long suffering sigh."Can you tell me where,"He paused, no, he could never call Dresden that."Where 'the man' lives?" That wasn't much better but it was better.

"I'm sorry sir, we are not at liberty to disclose that information." The guy answered, suddenly very professional.

He ended the call without saying goodbye, it was obvious those people were infected with something far worse than the Monster Curse.

Eventually he had found Dresden's house, after driving around and asking some people it wasn't as hard as he thought it would be, after all he grow up here and it was a small town. But what greatly disturbed him was (No, it wasn't finding Dresden drunk as hell and him ended up using a piece of bottle glass to cut words into his hand.)the fact that everyone he asked referred to Dresden as, Big Daddy.

So as he sat there in his car, pondering whether or not to reveal his relation to a man called Big Daddy, he came to a realization; it was too late.

After all this time, it was too late. There was probably no way he could possibly fix his relationship with his nephew. He let a breath, but he could make it better. Bearing that in mind, he stepped and walked to the doorstep before, almost silently, knocking on the door with a shaking hand.

If there's is a God, Latherna won't be here. He prayed, imagining how horrifying that would be. There was also the matter of him never telling her, he knew absolutely didn't want her to be there when he told Dresden.

Latherna opened the door, surprise written on her face.

Ah, this is why I worship Satan.

"Dam-Damien." She said, moving away bit so Dresden could see him in the doorway.

"Him," Dresden growled from the the livingroom, he looked less pleased to see Damien than he would be if he saw monstrous Mother standing in that entryway.

Damien sighed, the night's chilly air moving his robes."Latte, you are here!" He said, overly cheerfully and tried desperately to hide his dread."I need to speak with Dresden." Alone was on the tip of his tongue but he couldn't find it in himself to say the word.

Latherna blinked, still surprised and a bit wary,"Oh, I see." She looked unsure for a moment before moving aside to let him in."Sure, come in."

Damien could almost hear Dresden's sigh and realized this was going to be much more difficult than he anticipated.

"Love, Damien is here." Latherna announced, almost in warning and shut the door behind him.

A question of 'why?'came from an annoyed Dresden.

Damien looked around awkwardly then walked up to him,"Dresden." He said in greeting and took a seat next to him,"Because I heard some very upsetting news, Dresden." It wasn't what he planned but they were both here now and it irritated him beyond belief. He might as well unleash another topic that may end up in them murdering each other.

Dresden shifted an inch away."What do I have to do with that?" He questioned, glaring at him.

Damien spotted Latte looking at them with dread and anticipation from the doorway."I heard, well, I heard you two are engaged."He said the word like a curse, Latherna was too young for this nonsense."Tell me this was a lie spend by fools." He begged, but he was slightly happy about it, no more boyfriends he had to murder because of their incompetence, now all he had to do was put up with Dresden.

"No, it's the truth." Dresden mumbled, looking like he rather be doing anything but having this conversation.

"Damien." Lat approached and he narrowed his eyes at her,"I'm sorry, I was going to tell you."she sounded nervous, like she afraid he might whip out his book of curses then and there to start a ritual to sacrifice Dresden.

He let out a breathless sigh, he didn't think that was possible, but in that situation he did it."No, I...Latte when? When were you going to tell me?" He demanded not even looking at Dresden and trying to hide his hurt.

Dresden took a deep breath and clenched his fists. He tapped his foot and Damien immediately found this noise annoying.

Lat blinked as she wrung her fingers."I..the morning after." She said, looking guilty.

Damien turned his attention to Dresden."Impatient, are we?" He asked, letting rage enter his voice, in that moment it didn't matter how Dresden was related to him. He looked up at Latherna and sighed heavily.

"Very impatient." Dresden mumbled, clenching his fists even tighter turning them white. Damien eyed him, this wasn't how he wanted his relationship to be with his nephew but he had no one else besides himself to blame for it.

"I..I'm so sorry, Damien." Latherna's voice lost it's usual fire and she hung her head in shame.

Damien felt rage again, this was unusual, he had prepared for this but somehow he was feeling madder than ever."So impatient you had to get her pregnant before you even wed!" He snapped at Dresden, feeling nothing but anger burning within him. No, no, he had to control himself. This was Toby's game, he was sure of it. He glanced at Latherna's guilty face, the anger melted somewhat."I forgive you Latherna, I just wish you had made better choices." This was true, if only she never returned to this cursed town.

Lat had no words, perhaps surprised he had forgiven her and insulted Dresden along her life choices in one go. Ah, the power of being a parent.

"You..."Dresden started, a look of repulsion and rage claimed his face."You may bet the father of my future bride but I won't tolerate one second of your foolish buffoonery." He finished, raising to his feet.

Lat wiped her eyes before her tears could show as she sat on the couch across from them with her head in her hands."Dresden, please, calm down." She said weakly.

This time Damien was the guilty one."I'm sorry." He said, he never did like seeing her upset and that didn't change with time.

Dresden saw Lat, looking dejected. He nodded, and with a sigh, he sat down again."I'm so sorry, hun." He mumbled as he stared down at his feet.

"Forget it." Was all she said as she leaned back and sighed sadly. Damien immediately felt like jerk but couldn't help but wonder why she was so sad. Dresden and him arguing wasn't anything new and shouldn't have caused her to be so depressed. He wondered if it had something to do with the child.

"Don't you see? Dresden isn't worth your affection"or your tears, he added mentally,"You could have done so much better if you never returned to Carsden." He thoughtlessly said and glanced at the ring on Lat's finger, unaware of the effect his words had on Dresden who looked distraught but kept staring at the ground.

"I.."Lat looked at him with teary eyes, her face pale."I'm..sorry, I know you want what's best for me, believe it or not, I still respect you, it's just that..." she trailed off, looking even more saddened then shook her head and muttered under her breath,"Shut the fudge up, Ara." Could that be it? It was her monster messing with her emotions? Somehow Damien doubted this.

"He's just like his father, I've seen the way he drinks." Damien remembered a particular night he went to confront Dionysus about his drinking and driving and ended up with a black eye and comforting a girlfriend of Dionysus' whom he ended up hitting in the heat of the moment."That's just not the future I wanted for you, my dear." He had no idea the just how painfully the statements he made were hurting Dresden who hid his face in his hands.

Latherna didn't reply, but looked like she was starting to believe him. That alone throw Damien off, what was going on with her? He turned to Dresden and saw tears running down his arms as he covered his face with his hands.

He
Was
Crying?

Damien felt like he somehow entered the Twilight Zone. He beginning to realize how his words may have sounded exactly like what Dionysus would have said about Dresden. He let out a long sigh, how could he turn into his brother? The one thing he swore never to do.

So lost in his thoughts was he, he didn't realize that Lat was speaking to him,"How did you even find out?" She asked, he could sense her anger and murderous intentions and realized this was the perfect way to end another of his annoyances."Was it the reporter? How did this spread?" She continued,"Tell me, you know I've done things worse than murder."She added,"Who was the informer?"

Damien nearly with glee but managed to control himself."Mrs. Hall, the town's gossip girl." He said, it wasn't the truth but not exactly a lie either.

Latherna sighed, standing up, a single knife appeared in her hand."I'll be back." With that she left and exited the door.

Toby was practically dancing and Damien rubbed the sore spot on his neck. Why? Why? Of all the monsters did his have to pop out of the side of his head?

He shifted uncomfortably realizing it was just him and a upset Dresden now. Oh fudge.

Dresden was trying to be discreet but Damien could his tears and that just made it more awkward.

"Oh come on," Toby complained,"Are you just going to let him cry forever? Where are your meaningful words and inspiring prayers, huh?" Damien nearly choked, was Toby telling him to be nice to Dresden?"Of course I could just kill him for you?" Toby offered with a sly voice.

Damien inwardly cursed at him.

Dresden had always been kind of a blind spot with him. Damien knew he was there, that he existed, but found he could never really focus on him. When he was with him, he didn't how to speak or act, the words died and he felt the only way he could deal with it was through anger. Being with Dresden, talking to him, was like looking into the past. He just wasn't sure if he was ready to face that just yet.

"Dresden." Damien spoke with uncertainty. He wasn't sure what to say but knew they couldn't sit in slience. He decided then to act exactly like his father would, surely that would help.

Dresden didn't lift his head, he just nodded.

"Son, what's wrong with you now?" He started, remembering all the talks his father had  given him. He gave Dresden a look,"You are getting married to my bloody daughter, they better be a fudging smile on your face."

"I don't deserve her, just like you said. I don't deserve love, I don't deserve her," Dresden mumbled, his voice cracking."I am a messed up man and I ruin everything. I don't deserve any good thing in life."

Ah, Dionysus, you fudger.

Damien steeled himself, maybe some hard hearted remarks would make Dresden back to himself."You are absolutely right and I will tell you otherwise, but you are quite frankly being a whiny wuss. Come on, stop being so self hating, it serves no purpose." That was little harsher than he tended but he was sure Dresden would have a witty reply.

"I have no purpose, Damien." He said instead,"What's the point of it all if I will just ruin it?"

Before he could reply, Latherna walked back in. Her dress stained with blood as she scooted off to the sink and washed up."Don't worry, I made sure to save the blood!" she said from the kitchen sink before disappearing into the bedroom to change.

Dresden lifted his tear-stained face from his hands while Damien glanced at Latherna's blood soaked dress and smiled. He looked back at Dresden and said,"You are really nothing like him, I can't believe I ever thought you were." He mumbled the words, to him this was a great admission.

"I am, the apple doesn't fall from the tree, remember?" Dresden said," And you were the one said I was. Don't lie to me."

Damien awkwardly placed his hand on Dresden's back. He wasn't sure if it was act of comfort or fatherly affection but it did make him something was very wrong in the universe."You really aren't. I was a fool, Dionysus never expressed remorse after Maryse-" He broke off, the world was spinning back into memories."You are nothing like my brother." He choked out the simple words.

. . .

Damien blinked, realized what he said and how he said, then cursed mentally. It wasn't supposed to happen like this! There was supposed to be a moment of emotional connection, expressed through happiness or joy preferably. He cursed again and sighed, at least it's out now.

"Your BROTHER!?" Dresden said, looking at Damien with wide eyes, the expression on his face was priceless but Damien wished it included joy and not disbelieving dread.

Then the nightmare began.

Latte walked back in, having heard Dresden's exclamation of 'Brother' and looked utterly bewildered."You guys are related?" She asked, and Damien should known shit was going to go down soon.

Damien played dumb, (it wasn't that hard) and said,"Um, I wasn't supposed to say that." He coughed and looked away from both of them. This wasn't how he wanted this talk to happen, he should have kept quiet.

"Hey, dad, you are related to him?" Lat asked again, now solely looking at him with wide eyes."Heavens." She breathed, and Damien imagined what it would be like to tell her that Daniel had been his cousin's son twice removed.

No. That would be nightmare for another night.

"Yes. I am Dresden's uncle and.." He paused for dramatic effect,"and my full name is," Another pause, more dramatic,"Tobias Damien Veins." He finished and noticed how Dresden's mouth was hanging open and he looked rather sick.

"No,"Dresden shook his head in denial,"No no no, just NO!" He said, covering his ears as if it would stop the living nightmare he was experiencing.

Latte just stared, she was at a lost for words.

"That means I am dating...my.." Dresden's mouth was hanging open again, a fly speedily flew in and out before he could even notice.

"Wait, so that means, oh my God!" Latherna said as she sat down on the couch, and Damien nearly scolded her, now wasn't the time to pray to God."Whoa, Damien this is ridiculous."

He gave the two youngsters a pointed look,"Yes, it does." He almost laughed at the expressions on their faces and thought he might as well have some fun.

"Why did I never know this?" Latherna said with accusation in her tone."I thought you told me everything."

Damien shrugged in a very un-priest like way."You never asked." Was the first excuse that popped into his brain.

"Why would I?" She said with disbelief and exasperation."You hate him!"

"I do, because he acted like my foolish brother, but the past is painful and better left alone, Latherna." Damien found the truth leaking into his voice. He didn't like how he always had the desire to say the truth in her presence.

Dresden looked at the ceiling, his eyes still wide. He couldn't bring himself to look at either of them, he just sat with crossed legs on the floor like a kind of confused puppy.

"It would be strange if I suddenly, hey, are you related to my lover?" Latte continued, not taking in Damien's reply.

"No it wouldn't, we live Carsden dear." Why Damien could recall many occasions of family drama that included lost members finding each other and wedding before they knew they're relation. Mrs. Hall and her husband, Emanuel, being one of them. Damien smiled remembering what Latte just did. Ah, maybe today wasn't a complete failure yet.

Dresden slowly laid on the floor and closed his eyes as if it deep pain."Death would be better than this." He said as his face twitched.

Lat turned to him for a second and said,"That means, technically we are, cousins?"

"Yes," He replied, unable to meet her eyes.

Damien found there was a lesson to be taught here."Yes, that's why I tried to keep you two apart." See, always listen to your father, Latte. "But no, you just had to fudge." He partly sure that Toby was having more involvement in his speech lately and that was a worrying thought.

"I...fudged my own cousin." Latte said, dismay deep in her tone.

"I fudged my cousin." Dresden looked deeply distressed as he slammed his head against the floor."Nooooo." He bemoaned, hitting harder.

Abruptly fire lit up Latte's eyes, she turned the full force of her glare at Damien."If you had told us, this would not have happened to begin with!"

Damien edged back, the burning Latte was being set free. Instead of apologizing or stating a reason, Damien decided to put the Latte in a microwave and make it warmer."I wonder how the baby will be," He started as Lat's glare intensified and he pretty sure the gold turned to flames."You know, birth defects and all." Damien facepalm mentally, this settled it. There was definitely an outside force making him say stupidity. Now the question was whether it was Toby or....

Damien suddenly felt like if he had been hit on the head. His thoughts scattered, what had he been thinking about again?

"No NO no." Dresden continued to moan and slam his head against the floor."THE BABY!" Dresden shouted when he realized what Damien had said.

Damien just shook his head for the thousandth time."Honestly, you two need to come to church and pray for forgiveness."

"Dresden, I swear, I will kill you first before I let the floor kill you." Latte snapped at Dresden and then stared at Damien with a blankness in her eyes."Maybe I should do what Susan told me, get the abortion."

Damien waved off her words, that was complete crazy talk."It happened, we deal with it." He said, quoting the family matto."The child will be fine."

Dresden sighed, he felt the world shake. He closed his eyes, he had passed out. But Damien paid him no mind, was to busy trying to stop Latte from killing his future grandchild."Besides you are not biological related to me." He said, hoping to knock sense into her with his words."Or Dresden." He added.

But Latte was too occupied with her own thoughts."But, this is so," She groaned loudly,"my goodness, I am a worse mother than Quivlyyn." She threw her head in her heads and screamed into them,"Why!?" More or less asking the unknown forces out there what the hell they were doing to her life.

Damien huffed, she had always been so overwhelmingly dramatic at times."Stop being so overdramatic, it's not the end of the world."

"Dad why!? Why was I never told about this!?" Latte asked in almost hysterics, her eyes gleaming gold she tugged at her clothes violently."Why!?"

"You never needed to know." He answered sternly as he began to pace."For heaven's sake, you two are not related biologically!" He felt like he was going insane...again.

Meanwhile, Dresden's body began twitching while he remained unconscious. He did that back as a child, Damien recalled, it was back. His whole body jiggled against the floor. He crashed into the couch and kept shaking.

"Gods!' Latte said in shock as she quickly casted a spell steady him. The magic hit him but he remained jittery,"Still!" She commanded but it was of no use.

Damien poked the tip of his shoe against Dresden's side,"is he dead?"he asked, adding a hopefulness to his voice. Dresden kept twitching and then he started screaming,"NOO." in his unconscious state.

"Jesus Dresden, you don't have to yell, I was only joking."Damien mumbled, backing away.

Latherna turned to him with fire in her eyes,"I hate you."she finally said, and Damien would been more upset if she didn't say that at least twice a day when she was sixteen."That is it, I am definitely getting the abortion!" She cried, rushing to the landline and picking up the phone.

"I'm a horny casserole of a person." Dresden stated in his unconsciousness and Damien wished he thought of taping this.

At this point even Toby didn't know what the heck was happening anymore, this was madness.

"Latherna, you are my daughter in every sense of the word, but, you aren't my biological daughter no matter how much it pains me to say that." Damien tried defuse this hellish situation.

Latherna didn't answer and smash numbers on the phone and called who he could only assume was Susan."Get me the appointment!" She said into the dial.

Dresden kept twitching, no paid any heed to him till Latherna off handedly casted another spell at him."Make the appointment tomorrow, morning!" She continued ordering Susan then slammed the phone down.

She walked over to Dresden and kneeled down beside him."Dresden, you okay?" Concern laced in her voice.

Damien threw up his arms in exasperation."Children, clam yourselves. Latherna are you actually going to punish your own child over your mistakes?" He turned to Dresden's twitching form."Dresden, are you just going to sit there and let her?!" Dresden's body just twitched and a little drool came out of his mouth.

"Do you two even care for this child?" He demanded,"or am I the only one who here who does?"

Latte's head snapped up at his words."Of course I do!" She said, fury flaming in her tone."I would have killed it long ago if I did not care!"

Damien didn't reply, he stood up and walked to the kitchen. He grabbed the first dish he saw and filled it with water. As much as he hated to admit it, he was going to need Dresden to help calm Latte down. He heard her cast a fire charm to wake Dresden. He shuddered, he was definitely doing his nephew a favor with the water.

He stepped back into the room and stood above Dresden, trying to savor the moment of dropping ice water on his face. Something he wanted to do since he saw him kissing Latte's cheek."Now is not the time for sleep!" He said, dipping the whole dish over his head."God gave you the night, use it!"

Dresden woke with a start, he blinked. His shirt wet and dusted with ash from the fire Latte used before. Good, it was a improvement of that thing he called a shirt.

Dresden slowly rose to his feet and Latte did the same before beginning to pace about the room."This is not true, this is not true, Ara is just messing with me." She muttered to herself over and over under breath.

Damien blinked, he had no idea that Dresden being his nephew would effect them so worryingly."Dresden." He spoke, eyeing Latte worryingly.

'Yes?" He basically growled out the word.

"You pass out too often, go see a doctor." Damien eyed him with slight worry. He was awfully bruised up too, he should really go to see a Doctor. Maybe Damien could take him to the ho-

.
.
.

Where in heaven's hell was these thoughts coming from?!

Dresden glared at him but Damien's attention was drawn by Latte crying out."Damien! Please tell me this is a complete joke!" She begged,"Please!" Looking more distressed now than she was when he first started calling her Latte. She gave him pleading eyes and Damien was tempted to say yes but instead he gave her a look that said it all.

Dresden, seeing her distress, composed himself and stood by her side trying to calm her."it'll be okay." He whispered comfortingly.

Damien himself crossed the room and gave her a hug..odd, she looked even more distressed after receiving it."Your last name should already be Veins." Damien noted, okay he was ninety percent sure whatever force possessed to say that, wanted everyone to hate him.

"I'm sorry for everything."Latte said, crying into Dresden's arms.

"You are making it worse."Dresden fumed at him then to Lat with a loving look."You have nothing to be sorry for, my love, shhhh, it will be okay. It will all be okay."

Damien gently touched his jaw, it was still sore from going to the dentist to fix his teeth and wonder if getting into another fight with Dresden was worth looking like he was sixty.

"Damien, please, why now? Why now of all times? Is this some kind of sick scheme between you and Joseph?" She asked, practically staring into his soul to see any lies.

Damien sighed, for like the thousandth time in his life. He shrugged in a very teenager like way and mumbled,"Latherna, it's okay. You two aren't biologically related."

"I still can't fathom, marrying my cousin, much less carrying his child."Latte muttered, obviously his words lack the power to calm her.

"It may be okay for you, you Satan priest but it's shocking news. Show some compassion, you sack of pineapples." Dresden said and Damien wasn't sure if he should be angry or not. So he just frowned and tried to look like he understood.

Pineapples? He liked pineapples, it went great on pizza.

Somewhere inside him, both Toby and Maryse shuddered.

"Dresden." Latte's voice cut through the air faster than a whip as she gave him a sharp look."As much as everything he done, he's still my father. Please, I'm the only one allowed to yell at him and insult him." Latte stated and Damien nodded along in a Ha! sort of way.

"Ah, whelp he is my uncle, Love."Dresden pointed out and Damien inwardly cursed, oh great, how he accepts I'm his uncle.

Latte raised an eyebrow,"What's closer? Uncle or Father?" And Damien nodded again, satisfied.

"You aren't allowed to insult me, I am not the one who raised you!" Yes, go worry Dionysus grave with that nonsense.

Dresden paused, collected his teacher voice and explained clearly."Since my father was a sinkhole he should have been a father figure for me which he failed at so.." he gave the glance teachers give you when they look at your exam paper and know they're going to fail you."I can insult him." He finished.

Latte just rolled her eyes."I don't give you permission." She stated simply. "I suppose he was busy being a father figure to me."

"Oh...my love, this is the only thing I get to do without your permission. I have heard alot today, let me have my way." Dresden said with pleading eyes before sighing,"maybe he was."

Latte blinked."Okay, I am not allowed to be mad at you right now." She pressed her fingers against her forehead.

Dresden sighed."You can be mad at me anytime, love. No matter what happens."

Some out in the world above several girls and woman awed and made plans to abduct Dresden.

Then Damien had an idea. He bought out his cross,"You wouldn't need to take your anger out on me if you went to church." He hinted gently. He remembered the papers he drafted before coming here, it was honestly the best way to bring them together."Which reminds me, we still have to make you a Pastor." He handed the papers to Dresden who blinked and took in sheer reaction of being pasted something.

Latte stared.

"A what?"She gave him an incredulous look."What the fudge?"

"The church is a family tradition, he must become a Pastor now." Which was true, Damien's father had ran the church before him. Back when it was still a catholic one that is.

Dresden limply dropped the papers."I..no...I don't even care about God, you fool." He growled out.

"But God cares for you." Damien stated simply as he pulled out another cross and handed to Dresden."Here is your first cross." He said with pride.

Dresden stepped back and glared at him. He sighed a cosmic sigh and gave Damien a tired look, a snap in his eyes told him Darling wasn't far behind.

How wonderful.

"I'm not even going to bother with this," Latte said as her phone rang as if on cue."Hello, yes, doctor I shall have the appointment tomorrow morning. Yes, yes, eight am it is." Latte said into the receiver,"okay thank you, bye." With that she put the phone down."Okay done, appointment set." Sounding a little too cheerful for Damien's liking as he reached and grabbed the phone out of her hand.

"No, this is a sin!" He cried, thinking of the first excuse he had to save his grandchild life."No unborn life should be killed before having lived."

Latte gave him a blank stare."My mother literally sacrificed two of my older siblings to the fire."

Damien blinked, well damn, this was making him appreciate his own mother.

"And my younger brother she sold to some rich family!"

Damien coughed, very glad her taken away from that family, he remembered Aurthur as a kind man. Someone to go to in a time of need which Damien actually did after Maryse vanished and Dionysus grew distant. They weren't that close but everyone in town know of him and everyone suspected his craft. Damien would be lying if he didn't say that Mayor Jason deserved Hell on earth for what he did. Which is why it surprised him greatly that he would allow his wife to do such things to their children.

"Dearest, I raised you better than this." His voice sounded far off even to him. Damnit, he got stuck in the void of memories again.

"No, we will keep the baby." Dresden said, making Latte look at him with surprise and Damien let out a sigh of relief.

"How did you raise me, exactly?" She said to him before looking at Dresden again,"But, you hate kids."

That was a simple fact in Carsden. Just like how Daily Doughnuts would be put out instantly if Starbucks ever came here.

"It's a kid, Lat. A kid, our kid. Our little bundle of joy. Don't do that to him." Somewhere in town, each child that had a class with Dresden felt a chill. They were happy with him hating them but if he gave occasional affectionate pep talks, they might drop out."Let his life be wonderful. Give him everything my family couldn't give me. Give him love."

Damien handed Dresdsn a bible."Take this and pray for Latte, so she may regain her senses through the fantastical process of the healing grace of God." The book was actually called; Satan, Where To Him In Your Home. It had absolutely nothing to do with God.

Dresden placed the bible on dask, never to be touched again. Or so he thought, later April would be visiting and she would read through it and decide to keep it.

And so something wonderfully awful would begin.

"Um...well, I mean..." Latte looked unsure than sighed,"Fine, we can keep the damn thing." Dresden smiled but Damien still glanced at her worryingly.

Did she really not want this?

"But don't blame if I burn down a hospital when I give birth." She started, remembering the many times Sister Bertha was called in to help assist bringing in a new life and she had gone to watch a few times."You have no idea how painful it is." She finished.

"I won't blame you." He said, with another smile."You can use your magic to put me through that pain, I want to share that pain. I don't want you suffered it alone." He said, many, many people who asked themselves daily if there was such a thing as a perfect man sneezed.

She shook her head and collapsed on the couch."Can't you just leave me alone?" She looked down at her abdomen."you little demon." There was a slight smile on her face.

Damien however, was still concerned."Do you really not want this child?" He asked sorrowfully, it was her choice after all."The church can raise him if you wish." He offered.

Latte looked up at him," Would you really want another of my kind in existence?"

For once Damien allowed the memories to take him. Every moment with Latte flashing in his eyes."Absolutely." He said without hesitation and with conviction.

"Another warlock?" She continued, trying make sure he got her point."Bound to the powers of hell and death. Do you really want him to suffer my fate of perception and worlds unfathomable?"

"Darling, if he hates it than we can bind his powers." Damien stated then added,"Have some faith, the Lord is great." He said with an almost rhythm.Which is exactly why he was always picked to write the Christmas cards.

But Latte just frowned."The world celebrated at the death of my parents, at last, one was left to wield our ancient powers. But they forgot that I lived, my younger brother and i." She said seriously but Damien couldn't help but think that she was saying a great burb for a book."Now this child, what now? The realms are wounded enough." She looked at him, dead serious."Do you really want the world to end?"

"The child will build our world, Lat."Dresden said smoothly, almost like a criminal."Build a little world with me."

"The legacy could die with me." She gritted her teeth as she stood up."My brother knows nothing of the arts, he carries none of our legacy. I am really the last of the household. Let me die and the legacy will die with me. The world will continue to thrive and survive."

Damien having none of that, die? Bruh death was for the weak."You are as overdramatic as always. The world will survive, it survived this long. Global warming is more likely to end us than you." He nearly rolled his eyes.

"Global warming?" Latte turned her fury at him. The burning Latte was set free again,"Fudge you, it's the very reason why it happened in the first place."

Damien highly doubted that."Yes, of course¿" he replied sarcastically then thought of something that might cheer her up."Latte, why don't you eat a doughnut?" He pulled a daily doughnuts bag from his robes and offered them to her.

"Fudge legacy, fudge everything. I have destroyed everything all my life and now when I finally want to build something I don't even get a say in the matter. I was terrified of being a father but agreed because of you. Right when I learnt love the child, you are going to take him away from me?" Dresden said and Damien stared at him.

Definitely nothing like Dionysus.

Damien threw him a doughnut which he caught in surprise. It was good to reward kids when they did something right.

Latherna could only give him a look of sorrow. She clenched her fists and looked into his eyes. "Why do you want this child even? Why?" She couldn't understand it."Why Dresden? How could you love a child who will one day perhaps be the cause of our ruin?"

Dresden stared right back at her with emotion."Because it is ours. It shares a piece of us both. I have loved you for so long it that only took an instant to love the child." Damien remembered something slightly different where Dresden cut open his hand and was drunk but chose not to say that. His words were finally getting to Latte."Love is a crazy thing, Lat. We both know it well.

Damien took a book out from his robe titled; Mummy And Me."Latherna, you will be a great mother and I trust you two to raise this child so it may never be our ruin." He handed her the book.

Latherna took the book, Damien could see tears in her eyes."Fine." was all she said as she glared at the floor. Dresden closed the distance between them and hugged her tightly. He mumbled something in her ear Damien couldn't hear and kissed her cheek.

"I'm doing this for you, but don't blame me if it ruins the world before our eyes." She said emotionlessly as she wiped her tears away with the back of her hand.

"I won't." he said, softly.

Damien stood awkwardly. Just, kinda there.

"Well, I learned something." Latte broke away from the hug and looked at him.

"You did?" Damien asked, interested. Was it some meaningful lesson about love and legacy? About trust and hope or-

"You were the culprit you killed them all." She stated."How ignorant was I to not notice the pattern?" She began listing off,"The bear, the campfire, the wolf!" Damien wanted to correct her, timber wolf, Lat, timber wolf. But he froze.

Shit.

How could she have finally figured it out? Damnit, best to play dumb.

"You and Joseph, I don't even know what to do." She narrowed her eyes at him but he looked away. Damn, the wall looked nice.

"I'm not sure what you are speaking of."

Latherna just crossed her arms and glared deep into his soul."Dan, Phillip, Eric, etc." She enumerated."You..you murdered my lovers!

Damien coughed, lovers? definitely, keepers? Definitely not, over his dead body.

"Mind explaining, dad?" Her emphasis on the last word.

Great, he knew he was in deep shiz when Latte called him dad and not Damien.

"Well, uh, fate just wasn't kind to them, Dearest." Damien began to look up at the ceiling, Damn, what a nice ceiling.

Dresden looked at his feet, a smile slowly forming on his lips. He must have been glad Damien got rid of the competition.

"I do not buy it." She gritted out.

"The bear that ate Eric alive sure was awful but we move on, because he didn't matter that much." Damien stated, at least he thought it was Eric, he couldn't remember anymore.

"Not matter that much?" Latte spoke with withering rage."You! He was my boyfriend! You have no idea how much money I spent on icecream!" She yelled," I swear, why!?"

Dresden smiled sneakily.

Everyone in the room noticed it.

"He was OC in our book if life, didn't even deserve so much as a paragraph here."Damien pulled out some money and handed it to her."He wasn't worthy." Suddenly he felt rage too,"He was the bloody cleaner!" Why exactly Eric relied on Latte to buy Him icecream was beyond him.

Latherna slapped her plam against her face.

"Honestly, where was his life going anyway?" Damien continued, by all means he done Eric a favor by granting him death.

"Still!" Latherna wasn't letting this go."Also, why of all people, did you kill Philip?" She shouted and threw a hand out to point at Dresden."Dresden is smiling right now, but I am serious. Why the hell!?"

Dresden immediately wiped the smile from his face and tried to look innocent.

Damien walked over and kissed her on the forehead."Just be glad I didn't plant anything for Dresden." He smiled,"The world is a better place now!"

Latherna paused for abit.

"See, I'm nice. Dresden is my nephew, I wouldn't actually hurt him." Then he remembered their fight at the church,"Starting now." He checked his watch.

She looked up at him, glaring." I am not buying anything you are saying."

Dresden looked at him."Oh, how nice of you."he said sarcastically,"Uncle dearest."

"I'm not selling anything." He stated to Latte. It's not like he was even denying it.

"Also, Damien and nice do not go well with each other." Latte simply said, this was another one of Carsden facts.

"True." Dresden agreed.

Damien stared down at his watch again. Trying to find a way to leave this conversation.

"Don't even try that."Latte noticed immediately what he was up to."I am still going to follow you."

" But I am nice and friendly." Damien grinned at them creepily. Didn't they think so? And to think he was being his kindest to them and they didn't even notice.

"Nice and friendly?" Latte scoffed in a hell-no-kind of way."More like murderous and overprotective."

"More like satanic casserole." Dresden added in.

When was Dresden going to understand that calling him Satanic wasn't exactly an insult? But now Damien really wanted to try out an satanic casserole.

"Admit it, you are an overprotective dad."

Damien huffed, he definitely wasn't. He reached into his robe and pulled a teddy bear that Latte used to love."I am not, I completely don't carry this around to remind me of you!"

"A bear?" Latherna stared, probably having flashes of Eric getting eaten by one."Do you seriously miss me that much?"she raised an eyebrow while Dresden rolled his eyes.

"You barely talk to me anymore!" Damien cried, the bear safety in his arms. "We closed to be close!" He said,"Now you ghost me most the of time."

"She has better things to do." Dresden said matter of factly.

This time Latte rolled her eyes."Hello, pregnant and busy!" She answered,"It gets heavier to breathe and I'm always tired." She said,"I'm cold to everyone, even Dresden."

Then Damien got another great idea.

"Come live at the church. It would he perfect." He suggested, plus free babysitting from the nuns, he nearly added.

Latherna just smacked her hand against her forehead again.

"We will never do that." Dresden looked horrified, like someone had shown him a video of him, Lat and Damien dancing together."We will never go to that hell, you overselling teleshopping network-trained satanic priest."

. . .

Damien had no idea what he just said, but he assumed it was yes."I wasn't inviting you, Dresden." He smiled coldly at him."You can't keep pets at a church." He remarked.

"I would actually consider it, with a caveats." Latte answered, surprising him.

"You..."Dresden gritted out, his fists turned red, his eyes were turning red too.

Darling was coming.

"Um, I had a ribbit when I was nine." Latherna coughed, not noticing how they may all die in a few minutes.

Damien flushed,"Uh." He didn't want anyone to know he gave her special treatment. He looked at the floor, Damn, what a nice floor.

"You also bought me a cat when I was ten." Latte continued, ignoring his pleading looks." And I recall several hamsters."

Damien tapped his knee nervously.

"Also, you bought me a PC when I was twelve." She added thoughtfully.

"Well, you very good child." He said, chuckling nervously."Santa claus loved you."

"Erm, no." Latte replied, remembering her legendary pranks.

Darling broke free with a smile."Oh hello, uncle and cousin. Lovely to see you."He said, his eyes glowing green and his teeth visible.

Ah.

Shit.

Latte looked at him as her eyes widened."Oh my god, Dresden?"

Damien glanced at Dresden again. Might as well anger him, he thought,"Um hello? Again." He gave Darling a confused, what the flip look and acted like he didn't notice.

Lat took a few steps back."No, your not him."she shook her head,"You-you are Darling!"

So Damien was finally meeting Darling. He wondered if Maryse could actually protect him from Darling's control. He stood to his feet and stepped in front of Latherna."I think we should go." He said, there was no way to tell if it would beforehand and he wasn't willing to risk Latherna's life on that. He got his silver and green blades ready beneath his robe.

She didn't answer, her eyes were focused on the monster."Arachne, you can take over." He heard her whisper from behind him.

He turned slowly around."Latte?" He asked tentatively. Her hair had gone white and her eyes turned blue, she eyed Dresden with curiosity.

"Hi there, I always tell Eric to listen to you, but she never listens." Ara greeted and Damien immediately liked her.

"That's lovely, dear." He said, meaning it, before turning back to Darling." But I'm more concerned about how Darling looking at us with hungry inhuman eyes and licking his lips."

Ah.

Shiz.

A/N: Ah, finally. Now I'm about to kill you with even more writing! You will be missed, blue flowers lyss?

OMAKE: Mirror Mirror On The Wall let's all watch as Joseph falls.

Carsden cloudy sky began to to darken further. Thunder clouds clapped and rain began to fall on windy grounds. A steady beating beam of water hit the church's basement window.

Climbing down the stairs and creating a cloud of disturbed dust was Pastor Joseph and Father Damien. They walked in slience till they reached the last step.

"What are we doing here, Damien?" Joseph broke the silence and clicked his pen flashlight on due to the low lighting.

Damien didn't reply, he simply walked to the end if the room and pulled a thick white sheet of a large framed mirror.

"This is The Mirror Of Reflection. It show whoever steps in front of it their inner demeanor and greatest desire." Damien gave Joseph a meaningful look," do you know what this means?"

Joseph blew air out of his cheeks."... you've turned into Dumbledore ?" He answered uncertainly.

Damien face darkened,"This mirror is nothing like that fake fantasy one! This is the powerful mirror of reflection-"

"But all mirrors reflect." Joseph stated flatly.

"Yes but-"

"Damien, is this why last week you left me to handle Sunday service? You been looking at yourself in the mirror!" Joseph accused, he spotted a red wig in a half open box."And you been dressing up as IT again! Look, IT was cool when you used that costume to sacrifice Philip and scare Dresden but honestly, I think you been became a little obsessed." Joseph fumed and Damien quickly rubbed his cheek to get out the white face paint.

"Joseph, stop your nagging! Why can't you ever be like Watson?" Damien hid a balloon behind his back." Besides I came here to show you the mirror because we can use it to see how monsters look fully formed." He huffed and started clicking buttons on the side of the mirror.

Joseph watched confusedly as the mirror first showed a black scene then Damien began to move an aerial trying to catch a good signal. He caught a glimpses of movies and series and he finally realized why Damien loved the mirror so.

He should have bought popcorn.

"Ah, its always been a bit frustrating. There, there, almost!" Suddenly the glass lit up and Damien exclaimed a satisfied noise that Joseph never wanted to hear again.

Damien stepped in front of the mirror and waited with baited breath. The glass flashed before showing Damien, with two heads, midnight colored skin and melty flesh. He nodded at his reflection, looking satisfied. If only I looked like this when Latherna was dating around.

"Damn, this is how I look? What the fudge Tobias! I look like Deadpool, and oh my God, WE'RE BLONDE!" Toby gave a horrified speaking voice.

"Come Joseph, it's your turn." Damien placed a hand against his forehead.

Joseph took a breath and stepped in front of the mirror. The glass darkened then brightened, the figure began forming, long legged and large shouldered, the facial features could almost be made out perfectly.

Damien gave a gasp.

Standing in the mirror was, a very none feminine looking Nicki Minaj.

Before anything could be said, the mirror shattered into million pieces and Joseph stood clenching his fist which he wrapped up in the ends of his robe.

"Mother must die." He said dangerously.

It didn't matter, somehow Damien managed to get a picture of Joseph in Nicki state and lacked it to the press. Rumors of Nicki minaj's brother/son spread with some even claiming that the CSI was trying to make a clone of her to be Donald Trump personal therapist.

Damien never get find out how Joseph managed to never show his monster again but he figured pure hatred against it worked for him.

A/N: Yeah, that happened. I have no idea why I wrote that, how that even came into existence but...it happened.
