The bright morning sun was filtering through the curtain into Prince Shu's room. You would have expected him to eb dreading another day and him to be stuck in bed until the butler came, but no. When Shu woke up the next day, he didn't feel any dread. Instead, he felt excited that he will go to a boarding school with all his friends who are princes from other kingdoms. His stomach is filled with butterflies and his mind is filled with anxiety. Not the best combination, but he is anxious/excited. Besides, you will never know what will happen when you do something until you try.
He carried his trunks outside (of course, with the servants insisting that they should do it themselves) and rode in the red, white, and gold carriage all the way to the academy. Shu felt nervous if other people will like him 'will the teachers like me?' 'Will I do good in school?' 'What if my friends find new friends?' 'What if Lui just got more annoying?' He asked himself internally. He felt the feelings increase drastically with each passing minute. He decided to just distract himself by looking out of the carriage. He saw the green fields with rolling hills zoom by as the carriage moved. He saw the occasional tree, but that view of fields soon turned into a lush and thick forest. He saw sunlight shining through pockets of the trees, creeks, rivers, more fields, and more. He soon saw the large gates of a huge castle. The gate was shining gold and was opened by guards as they passed through. The castle, or the academy rather, had a gray-stoned structure and multiple towers around it. He looked around and saw a huge crowd waiting for all of the nobles, royals, and sons of commanders.
"Prince Kurenai Shu of Atsui!" the announcer shouted.
When he said that, the crowd broke into cheers. He stepped out of the carriage with his parents and went to the center stage with his friends: Prince Valt of Nogyo, Prince Rantarou of Kyandi, Prince Xander of Chikara, and many more. When he stepped there, he found countless other boys there that are also to be students of the academy.
*-*-*
As Yuna was riding in the carriage, she was nervous if the boys would accept her, considering the fact that she was the only female student in the entire school. She was used to being ostracized from society since that was what had been her life ever since she was three years old. She quickly calmed her racing mind enough to think clearly as she entered the gates of the academy with my whole family. She has dealt with problems before, this was merely another obstacle in her path of life. But, it was still different. She rarely went out of the castle grounds since her parents discovered me getting panicky and phenomenal health issues since she was three years old. They thought she was fragile like a porcelain doll, but she is much stronger than that. When I showed them that I could fight, they started letting me train in combat but still didn't let me leave the kingdom unless absolutely needed.
I became a nervous wreck when I heard the crowd whispering. But I quickly collected myself as I stepped out of the carriage.
Shu's POV:
When I went to the central stage with my family, I found comfort seeing my best friend, Valt waving his arms frantically to me as if I was blind.
"He can see us perfectly well you idiot." said the slightly snobby voice of Komurasaki Wakiya. The prince of the richest kingdom, Yufukuna. Shu just rolled his eyes at him and looked at the crowd as the gates were closing. The gates were about to close when they heard the loud whinny of horses outside the gates. He was pretty sure he was not the only one who heard the horses seeing everyone look out the gates too. When the gates opened, they looked to see a carriage of bronze metal and blue green and turquoise gemsotes making it glitter like the surface of the ocean on a spring day, and two white unicorns who sparkled in the sun. The whole crowd grew silent as the doors opened revealing an emerald-eyed king, a sky blue-eyed queen, a very young blue-eyed prince, and lastly, a turquoise-eyed girl who seemed to be a princess around his age. She had sea-green eyes, reven black hair like ocean waves up to her waist, tan skin, a beautiful long turquoise dress reaching the ground and a cyan crystal tiara on top of her perfectly styled tresses. When Shu looked at her, he immediately felt his father tense up at the sight of his rival kingdom. But there was no hate in Shu's eyes, just curiosity lies behind those crimson orbs. Who is that girl? What is she doing here? The announcer shouted her name.
"Princess Yuna of Kiyomizu!" the whole crowd was whispering, including the royal families, the nobles, and the commanders.
"A girl?"
"What is a princess doing in a school for princes?"
"Girls can't fight can they?"
Shu was confused as a chameleon in a bag of skittles. He wanted to know who that princess was.
YUA'S POV:
As I stepped onto the central stage, I could feel the glances people are giving me. I felt uncomfortable and silently whimpered at he sounds of whispering. I was about to ask my parents why they are whispering when someone caught my eye. It was the prince of Atsui. He was wearing a long sleeved pink shirt, a black tail-coat with red highlights, black pants, black shoes, and a silver crown with rubies. He had white hair up to his shoulders and blood-red eyes. She stared at him, and he stared at her. sea-green met crimson. They didn't break away, not for a few seconds. The crowd begin to exit the gates as the students and their families went inside the academy.
THIRD PERSON POV:
The school was simple, yet elegant. It had carpets, torches on the walls, and a man around his 40s was waiting for them in the center of the room. He introduced himself as Headmaster Hiroto. The headmaster looked all around the room and stared at Yuna.
"I have heard about your intelligence and combat skills, Princess Yuna." the princess just smiled and bowed her head as the whole room looked at her. The families said good bye to their children with hugs and kisses.
"I will take care of myself and study hard. I promise." said Prince Shu to his parents with excitement in his eyes. His parents said their goodbyes and parted ways.
"Please take care. Do you know what to do if you have a panic attack or body pains?" asked the queen of Kurisutaru looking at her annoyed daughter.
"Yes mother, I'm thirteen now. I can take care of myself." once they parted ways, she waked toward the other students and introduced herself.
"I'm Aoi Valt. Nice to meet you." said the young prince, grinning ear-to-ear. Yuna just smiled as the others greeted her.
"So what's a pretty princess like you doing at a school for princes?" asked a cold, rough voice that belonged to Prince Shirosagijo Lui of the Shimo kingdom. He just had his usual smirk on his face as his bonfire-like hair just flowed on his head.
"Is it not obvious? I'm a warrior like all of you." said the brunette with boredom in her tone. The ice prince just smirked. He was about to throw another insult at her when a voice said
"That's enough Lui." that deep voice belonged to Kurenai Shu. He had his usual serious face and just glared at Lui.
"Oh come on Kurenai, I was simply just stating the facts. Besides, isn't she supposed to be your enemy or something?" asked Lui glancing at the albino.
"Our parents may dislike each other, but that doesn't mean we have to do the same." said Shu glaring at Lui. The flame-haired boy just put his hands up in a surrendering gesture as he backed away. Shu rolled his eyes a he turned back to Yuna.
"Are you alright?" asked Shu with a soothing tone of voice. Yuna just nodded her head as she glared at Lui. She looked at him as her hand began to bend the water out of a small canteen of water on her waist for emergencies. She made Lui still as a statue and waked up to him.
"Talk trash about me or my family again and I will make sure you will never see the light of day again." said Yuna as she let the ice prince go. She walked away from Lui ad the others just stared at her. She walked to Shu again and apologized about that.
"It's OK, he can be a jerk sometimes." said Shu with a sweet smile. Yuna felt heat rush to her cheeks and she quickly turned her head away. What is this feeling? She asked herself internally. She said goodbye to her new friends and walked to her trunks. It's probably just nothing. My mind is playing tricks on me. She said to herself as she and her new friend were being escorted to the dorms.
