New Friend
Third Person POV:
"Good morning everyone, I'm Mr. Trad. Today, well just be testing your powers and skills." said the teacher.
Everyone, including Free, went in a horizontal line on the side of the court. Valt went first and attacked the hay dummy with his sword skills, Rantaro used a basic sword and shield quite impressively, Wakiya used daggers and throwing stars and eventually ripped the dummy to shreds. Lui made sharp ice crystals and sent them flying towards the dummy, then he froze the dummy completely and shattered it afterwards with a single kick. Shu sent fireballs towards the dummy and it had a few burn spots. He walked closer to the dummy and touched it, making it burn to a crisp. The teacher just nodded at their work and wrote something down. Yuna went up next and floated another dummy to the center of the court with water from her canteen hanging on her waist. She then closed her eyes for a few seconds and then opened them suddenly, revealing her fiery spirit within. She made a water trident and sent them flying towards the dummy, making it go through its chest. She then lifted the dummy with water, submerging it in, and made it hit the walls, mashing it to pieces and leaving it soggy. Yuna barely moved a muscle doing so, which made the teacher and the rest of the class slightly shocked. She then went back to the line and acted like nothing happened.
The last student to do the test was Free. They all just met him and were curious what power he holds. He was a few meters away from the hay dummy and he closed his eyes. He focused on the silence and paid attention to his surroundings. He opened his eyes and a bright yellow light appeared on his hands. His eyes when from pure black to gold and then he blasted the dummy. It then began to shrivel and eventually became dust. Free went back to the line as everyone looked at him with shocked and impressed faces. He just stood there in the line and didn't make any eye contact.
When the class was over, Free started hanging out with us and began to build a friendship with the group. "So Free, what is your power exactly?" asked a bewildered Rantaro.
"I was given the power to drain the energy or even the life of a being. It's quite deadly but if controlled and mastered, it can be a very useful tool that can save many lives rather than destroy them." Free replied with an aloof tone. They were all impressed, but Lui just scoffed and looked away. No one noticed, but Yuna did.
"What's wrong Lui, jealous of Prince Free?" Yuna asked with a smirk on her face. Lui just got angry. He went up to Yuna and just stood inches away from her.
"And why in Shimo would I be jealous of him?" Asked Lui, glaring at her. He was covered in a light blue aura with hints of purple. Yuna was engulfed in her own aura that was the same turquoise as her eyes with accents of blue and green. She eventually just calmed down.
"C'mon, we don't have time for this." said Yuna, walking away as the others followed her without saying a word. Lui just scoffed (again) and eventually followed her to the classroom.
Shu's POV:
Throughout the whole argument, I was a blushing mess. Unlike most girls that I've seen, Yuna was... Different. She has a fire in her that not many have. My heart was beating so hard that I thought it would jump out of my chest any second. During class, I was thinking about her the whole time. I would occasionally glance at her, but not enough for the others to notice. I can't get her out of my head. It was bothersome. I always pay attention in class and got high grades, but not this time. After our class, I was about to leave the classroom when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned my head to see Wakiya.
"Hey Shu, can I have a word with you please, in private?" asked Wakiya, hinting me to go to the back of the classroom. We waited until everyone left, and that's when he started talking.
"So what's up with you and Yuna?" He asked skeptically. Wakiya was always so arrogant and proud, but he is good at reading body language and he really does care for his friends even though he doesn't show it often.
"I don't get it. What do you mean? There's nothing between us." I said in a hurry like a brain-dead person. I mentally slapped myself when I saw his expression change in a more suspicious one.
"Are you sure though?"
I sighed, there was no use in hiding it anymore. Besides, it would be nice to talk about it with someone. "Fine. I like Yuna, more than a friend okay? It's kind of problematic since our kingdoms dislike each other."
"I get what you mean." Wakiya said, scratching his chin while deep in thought. "But our feelings are something we can't control. So I can't exactly blame you." Wakiya said. Shu nodded in reply, but kept in thought what he said they walked to the halls and spotted their friends. They walked over to them and started walking together to their next class.
Free's POV:
Class went well and I just started a friendly conversation with the others.
"So Yuna, I'm not surprised they invited you to study here since your good at fighting." Yuna just smiled at me and said a small thanks while looking away. Wakiya and Shu eventually caught up to us and we walked along the halls to our next class. The other classes were boring as ever and I fell asleep in one of them. I'm surprised Yuna was able to stay awake the whole time given the lever if interest the lectures have shown. Shu was also pretty focused and Yuna also snuck some occasional glances at him. A pang of jealousy rose in my heart because I had feelings for Yua. I know it's sudden, but it just 'clicked'. I want her to be with me but I'm not going to force her. I wonder how she thinks of me. Are we just friends, or could we be something more than that?
Yay, I finally updated. I'm so sorry for not doing it sooner.
I was stuck with exams, and now a 2 hour screen time limit for the summer.
Tbh, I'm worried people don't like my books, but I'll keep working as soon as I can and hopefully gain more readers.
Stay safe, stay home, and wish me luck!!
