7. D-Day (Detention Day)

It was 5 AM when Jieun's eyes fluttered open, only to realize she had hardly slept all night.

Thoughts of escaping from detention kept her awake, occupying her mind with desperate strategies.

Determined to make it through the long day ahead, she forced herself out of bed and quietly approached Yeongja, her roommate.

She got ready and gently shook Yeongja's body to wake her up, "Yeongja, Wake up."

Yeongja groaned in annoyance and replied to her "Ugh! What do you need bitch?"

Suppressing her frustration, Jieun smacked Yeongja's arm and spoke in a firm tone,

"You better drag your ass to get ready. We have detention at 6 AM. If you don't want to get in trouble, I suggest you move quickly." she said and left the room.

Yeongja heaved a deep sigh and got ready for the detention.

Jieun was sitting in the dimly lit room more like an attic when Yeongja stormed in, her face bore annoyance and frustration.

She took a seat next to Jieun's chair. Suddenly, Headmistress Kwon barged in, "All right, I see everyone is present. Mr Choi will keep an eye on you, I'll be back at 1 PM." she said in a firm voice and exited while locking the door.

"Ugh!! This is abuse, what if we have to pee?" Yeongja asked in annoyance. Jieun just pointed to the restroom which was situated at the corner of the attic.

"What about food? Are they going to keep us starving?" Jieun asked looking around to see if there was something to eat.

"Fuck this shit! It's embarrassing. It's all because of you! I've never been into detention until you came along." Jieun just rolled her eyes and got up from her seat to find ways to escape.

In the shadowy and cramped confines of the attic, Yeongja and Jieun searched through forgotten relics and dusty artifacts, their curiosity overshadowed only by their subtle bickering over their discoveries.

"Yahhh you bitch, can you be a bit more careful with that?" Jieun chastised, peering over Yeongja's shoulder as she rummaged through an old chest containing old documents.

Yeongja rolled her eyes. "Relax bitchass, I'm not going to break anything. These documents are so old that they'll crumble at the slightest touch."

As they explored, they stumbled upon a peculiar rug that seemed out of place amidst the attic's disarray.

Intrigued, they tugged at its frayed edge, revealing a hidden trapdoor below.

Jieun glanced at Yeongja. "Should we even be doing this? What if we get in trouble?" Ignoring Jieun's caution, Yeongja grinned mischievously.

"Come on, live a little. Who knows what secrets are waiting for us down there?"

The trapdoor creaked open, revealing a foreboding staircase spiralling into darkness.

The flickering torchlight cast ominous shadows as they descended, their steps echoing in the chilling silence.

At the foot of the stairs, they entered an expansive chamber adorned with ancient artifacts and cryptic symbols etched into the walls.

A sense of foreboding hung in the stale air. "Looks like we've stumbled upon something quite enigmatic," Jieun whispered, her voice echoing eerily.

Yeongja scoffed. "It's just old stupid junk. I don't see anything special about it. It's just a bunch of old artifacts that someone forgot about."

As they uncovered an ornate chest, a distant noise made them freeze in fear. "Did you hear that?" Jieun's voice quivered.

Yeongja shot back, "UGHHHHH!!!! Can you stop being so paranoid? It's probably just the wind or something."

"The air.....Why does the air smell like this? It smells like something is rotting here, more specifically like a corpse." Jieun said looking at Yeongja,

"Bitch can't you just stop? There is nothing here. You're definitely hallucinating. And about the air, I don't know, it's probably just a rat or something that died."

As they were discovering further, Jieun saw a pool of blood in the corner of another staircase, the stairs were leading down somewhere else.

"Yahhh whore! Look! There is-" As Jieun was about to complete her sentence the noise grew closer, the sound of footsteps echoing through the hidden chamber.

"We have to leave, now!" Jieun urged, her voice urgent. Fumbling in haste, they closed the chest and hurriedly ascended the stairs, their hearts pounding with fear and exhilaration.

As they were making their way back to the attic she saw a handkerchief that was covered in dried blood, she took that handkerchief and hurried towards the stairs.

Back in the attic, they hastily concealed the trapdoor, their hushed squabble forgotten in the face of their eerie discovery.

"That was too close," Jieun whispered, her eyes wide with adrenaline. "Agreed," Yeongja replied, a hint of uncertainty in her voice.

"But, I can't help but wonder what else might be hidden down there. We need to explore further and uncover the secrets of this mysterious chamber."

Jieun hesitated but nodded in agreement. "Okay, but let's make sure we're better prepared next time. We don't know what else could be down there. We'll need to be careful."

The enigmatic chamber they'd unearthed sparked a mystery that neither of them could ignore.

Despite their bickering, the allure of the hidden secrets beneath Crown Lake Academy lingered, leaving them both intrigued and apprehensive about the dark enigmas lurking beneath the surface.

Determined to find more clues, they continued searching through the dusty relics. "Jieun, look at this!" Yeongja's voice broke the silence as she held up an old yearbook. Curious, Jieun peered over her shoulder. "What did you find?"

"It's an old yearbook from Crown Lake," Yeongja replied, flipping through its worn pages. As they scanned the faded photographs, Jieun's eyes widened. "That's my mom?!" Yeongja's brow furrowed. "Wait, really?"

"Yes," Jieun confirmed, pointing at a black-and-white picture. "Here, she's with a group of other girls, and one of them is Miss. Lee!" Yeongja's eyes widened in surprise. "Miss. Lee? The dorm supervisor?"

Jieun nodded. "Yes, and she's young here, just like one of the students. But why is my mom's face scribbled like that?"

The mystery deepened as they studied the photograph, trying to unravel the enigmatic connection between Jieun's mother and Miss. Lee during their time at Crown Lake.

"It's bizarre," Jieun murmured, an enigmatic puzzle forming in her mind. Yeongja glanced around the attic. "There might be more hidden clues here. Let's keep searching."

Their curiosity heightened, the attic became a treasure trove of enigmatic secrets waiting to be unearthed, and the mysterious ties between Jieun's family and Miss. Lee remained an enigma waiting to be solved.

's POV

DIE YOU FUCKING MOTHERFUCKER! I was constantly stabbing my butcher knife, right into his heart.

This fucker thought it was a good idea to snitch on me, so I'm just showing him his fucking worth and what happens to the people who backstab me.

The blood oozed out of his body like thick, red syrup. I kept on stabbing his body, thankfully I wrapped a cloth around his ugly-ass mouth to keep his voice muffled.

Junghwa was barely alive, his body was shaking and tears escaped his eyes, I took my handy hammer and smacked it right onto his face.

The blood from his head poured all over the floor, his stupid little brain was now crumbled like a house of cards.

I took my knife and ripped open his chest, I took his heart out which was beating for a few minutes. I squished it like a stress ball releasing all my temper.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! WHAT A WEAK ASSHOLE YOU ARE JUNGHWA. As I was picking up his body to put him in my chamber with the other corpses, I heard voices coming from a distance. I dropped his body on the ground and took my knife with me.

I tried to hear their voices trying to recognize them. Then I heard a familiar voice, it was Jieun's voice.

"What is she doing here?" I thought to myself and followed their voice. I quickened my pace to see what she was doing and whom she was with.

I heard the sound of shoes tapping against the chamber, they definitely were running away now.

When I reached the spot I saw the attic's trapdoor, they were hastily locking the door. SHIT! How the fuck did they found out about this passage?!

I quickly took some wooden planks and sealed the door shut. FUCK YOU JIEUN! You have to pay for your behaviour.

I hid Junghwa's body in one of my freezer rooms along with the other corpses that I killed.

I cleaned myself, disposed of the bloody clothes and went out of the chamber.

End of   's POV

Jieun was now just sitting on the chair, looking at the handkerchief she had found a few hours ago.

She saw the word 'Park' inscribed in gold letters on the corner of the cloth.

"Park? Does this belong to Jay or Sunghoon? But why would any of them be in a chamber, in the first place?" she contemplated silently.

Meanwhile, Yeongja was finding some more clues about the hidden passageway "Yeah you slag, come and sit down. Headmistress Kwon would be here any minute." Jieun said annoyingly to Yeongja.

"Yahh! You bitch, how dare you call me a slag?!" Yeongja was about to punch her in the face but Jieun dodged her punch effortlessly and kicked her in the stomach.

She then held her collar and slammed her on the wall "Listen up you slut, don't you fucking dare lay a finger on me. You'll definitely regret it, I'm heartless when it comes to taking revenge and killing."

Jieun then released Yeongja as she heard someone opening the door to the room.

Headmistress Kwon unlocked the door and stepped in "You are free to go, ladies. I hope it's been a productive day." As Miss. Kwon completed her sentence Yeongja stormed out of the room in frustration.

"You have some explaining to do, Miss Hyun." Jieun just nodded her head signalling Headmistress Kwon to continue, "Usually, in detention, Yeonnja is ruthless. I find girls sobbing more like getting murdered at the end of the day. But you're as cool as a block of ice in the blazing inferno."

Miss Kwon then smirked and whispered into her ears "Perhaps, she's met her match." she said and left the place.

Jieun also left the Attic taking one last glance at the yearbook and bringing the book with her.
