6.The Escape Plan
It was Friday, and Jieun was lying on her bed with the Guide Book in her hand. She opened the book to resolve some of her issues.
"Now let's talk about getting in trouble. That's already happened, right? Saturday detention is as boring as a history lecture. Here's my advice, ESCAPE. All the cool kids do it!"
Seated together in the vibrant hub of Crown Lake's Grubber, Crown Lake's version of a cafeteria, Jieun engaged her newfound companions, Sunghoon, Jay, Jake, and Sunoo, in a conversation tinged with curiosity and a hint of mischief.
Sunghoon was practising his new poem "Bang! Bang! Shoot your hate down, it's the Queen who holds the crown." "That is so amazing, I can't wait to hear your poetry next week" Sunoo said cheekily, beaming towards Sunghoon.
"Hey, guys," Jieun leaned in, her eyes alight with a spark of intrigue. "Ever had detention here? Did you ever try to escape?"
Sunghoon chuckled lightly, shaking his head. "I've been caught once, but with Miss. Kwon's strictness, there's no escaping."
Jay nodded in agreement, a cryptic smile playing on his lips. "Yeah, got in detention once. But trying to escape? Not a good idea with the Headmistress keeping a close watch."
Jake joined in, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "I've avoided detention so far. Escaping sounds risky with Miss. Kwon around."
Sunoo, quietly observing the conversation, finally spoke up. "Detention's a no-go zone for me. Escaping? Never dared."
Jieun's curiosity was piqued as she directed her attention back to Jay. "So, Jay, what landed you in detention? Anything exciting?"
Jay's enigmatic smile remained, a subtle mystery in his gaze. "Nothing thrilling, just a wrong move in the wrong place."
Jay leaned back in his seat, an enigmatic edge to his tone as he addressed Jieun's curiosity.
"There's no way you can break out. Miss. Kwon locks you in with those detention rooms. It's like she's got eyes everywhere, and the doors might as well be guarded by those fucking guards."
Sunghoon chuckled, nodding in agreement. "Exactly! It's like an impenetrable fortress in there. No sneaky business with her around."
Jake added, "Yeah, Miss. Kwon's detention room is like Fort Knox. Getting out? Impossible."
Sunoo, usually quiet, chimed in, "Better not mess with her. She's got a sixth sense for troublemakers."
Jieun leaned in, intrigued by the conversation about Crown Lake's infamously secure detention rooms.
"So, what exactly makes it so hard to escape?" she prodded further.
Sunghoon glanced around, lowering his voice. "Rumor has it those rooms are locked tighter than a safe. Cameras, guards—Miss. Kwon doesn't mess around."
Jay nodded in agreement. "Yeah, tried a window once, but they're sealed shut. The whole place is like a fortress."
Jake chimed with a mischievous glint in his eye. "I heard there's a secret passageway, but it's just a rumour, really. No one's ever found it."
Sunoo shrugged a hint of caution in his tone. "Best not to test it out. Miss. Kwon's got eyes everywhere."
"By the way, when's your detention?" Jay asked leaning back into his chair and looking at her with a smirk.
"Tomorrow, I'm so not going to spend my whole day with that Yeongja hoe," she said annoyingly,
"You got into detention with THE YEONGJA? You should better get ready for what's coming up to you, I've heard that she's so brutal with her classmates in detention, like one time she almost stabbed a girl with her pocket knife. That girl was barely alive, if it was not for Headmistress Kwon she would've died there." Jake said looking at her with a hint of concern.
"She would never dare to stab me, if she does she'll have to suffer the consequences," Jieun said calmly looking at them with a hint of mischief.
"Just be careful, Yeongja is not that easy to deal with. I'm pretty sure she's plotting something against you as of right now." Sunoo said sassily,
"Don't worry Sun, I've got this!" As they finished their breakfast, the bells chimed signalling the beginning of their morning classes. They all went together to their first lecture because they were all in the same class.
Little did they know that someone was eavesdropping their whole conversation. "Get ready for the game Jieun. It's gonna be fun! HAHAHAHAHAH!" the person said to himself and went to the class.

It was night, and Jieun was sitting on the couch of Crown Lake's TV room with her movie tape "The Breakfast Club? I'm pretty sure that movie isn't a part of Crown Lake's catalogue."
Heeseung said standing behind her, "Oh it's you! You almost gave me a heart attack."
Heeseung let out a little laugh and gently shook his head, "Yeah, right, the movie tape is mine. What are you doing here tho?"
Jieun said being shocked to see him, this late at night. "I was just- playing around I guess. A little tip, don't get caught by the security guards, R rated movies are not a thing in Crown Lake." she just nodded in agreement.
"By the way, I'm Heeseung. I'm sorry I forgot to introduce myself last time when we were at the lake." He said putting his hands forward in an attempt for a handshake.
"Oh it's totally fine, I'm Jieun. So, do you want to watch this together?" she accepted the gesture and asked him politely.
"Sure, why not?" he said making his way towards the couch.
It was around midnight, the movie was almost over as they were showing the credits.
As the movie ended, Heeseung spoke with a tinge of amazement "Detention movie of the century!"
"There is no way I'm gonna climb through an air shaft," Jieun muttered under her breath shaking her head.
"You said something?" he asked curiously, "Uh, nothing." she replied "Do you wanna do a movie night again, Jieun?" he asked with a mischievous smile.
"Sure, but uh, maybe not here tho," she replied, hesitating a bit. "Well, there is a classic movie theatre, right behind the Lake. I'll buy tickets if you get candy," he said excitedly.
"Yeah, sure," she said accepting the offer. "Maybe, I should call my friends too. You are quite familiar with them," he said leaning back on the couch, with a smirk on his lips.
"Do you mean Jungwon, Sunoo and the others? I didn't know they were your friends, they never told me anything about you or you being their friend."
She said feeling confused, "You see Jieun, I have connections with almost the whole Crown Lake Academy, I just like to keep myself and my life a little bit private. That must be the reason why they haven't told you about me, we all have been friends since primary school." he replied calmly, she just made an 'O' face and nodded.
"Well, I guess I'll see you around. Good night, Jieun," he said getting out of the couch and leaving.
"Good night, Heeseung. See ya around!" she replied and went towards the corridor of the girl's dorm. Heeseung watched her disappear from his sight and a devious smirk appeared on his lips.
"You better be prepared for the movie night Jieun, it's going to be a hell of a ride for you!" he said to himself and left the place.
