location: amara and jasmine's flat- london

when amara had returned to her flat, she had been in bombarded with questions by jasmine, marcus and aaliyah. she just tried to ignore them, but she feared she gave away that going to dave's house went well; as she couldn't stop smiling at thought of him kissing her. although it still confused her where they stood, she didn't dwell on it too much ( which is unusual for her ); especially after she received a good night text from the man who occupied all her thoughts.

that didn't stop the questions either. jasmine refused to let go of the situation, insisting that amara tell her what happened. it wasn't like amara didn't want to tell her best friend something, she just didn't know why to say. she didn't know how to say to her friend, that she confessed and kissed the guy she likes, but has no idea where that stand.

marcus and aaliyah were no better, they resorted to teasing amara about dave the whole night, and into the morning. in response all amara could do, was blush and roll her eyes, further fuelling their belief that the 'damara' ship has finally sailed.

"so...marss....what happened?" jasmine dragged out, nudging amara as the two made lunch together.

"i'll tell you. but not in front of marcus and aaliyah, they have big mouths. all of london will find out if they heard." amara whispered back, looking behind her to see the two in question, frowning at her.

"hey! i heard that. mars that really hurts." marcus teased, clutching his heart sarcastically.

"that's not true. i know how to keep a secret!" aaliyah exclaimed back at her, pouting at amara.

"no. you can't. tell me why i got a message from my dad asking why dave said he likes me? cause you guys were the only people i told." amara retorted, raising her eyebrows menacingly.

"listen yeah. i heard gossip. i spread gossip. i happened to say it to az and she can't keep a secret to save her life. i was too busy trying to kill jas to know about that. so please don't kill me and kill aziza instead?" aaliyah rushed out, hiding behind marcus' figure, using him as a shield.

"fineee!!" amara dragged out, pulling aaliyah towards her and crushing her into a hug. " i'll say it in front of you guys. but marcus if i hear a peep out of jesse, jadon or jude, you won't live to tomorrow. ok?" she threatened, watching him cower slightly under her glare.

"ok got it."

"i'm being serious rashy! and you too aaliyah. if them lot know i'll know one of you leaked it. so please don't tell anyone. i don't want other people to know right now. i want to actually process what happened first." she ranted, not noticing she was out of breath.

"ok mars that's cool, but we still don't know what happened." aaliyah deadpanned, not noticing the disapproving looks from the adults around her.

"so.. when i went to his house, i told him that i wanted to talk about the whole him liking me thing. he just kept diverting and avoiding the topic, which was so annoying. i just had to tell him i walked through the rain, with a faulty coat, to talk to him about it so he had to deal with it."

"yeah that tracks he has an avoidant attachment style and you have an anxious attachment style, it's why you guys argue," jasmine uttered absentmindedly, receiving confused looks from everyone around her, "is it surprising i know a fact? also i thought i told you guys i'm taking online uni courses in psychology. sorry, continue."

"so my girlfriend is both talented as a dancer and as an academic. i really did hit the lottery." marcus smiled at his girlfriend, before pulling her into a short kiss. he ignored the retching sounds from aaliyah and amara, flipping them off.

"you guys are actually disgusting." aaliyah fake gagged, as amara agreed with her, exchanging dirty looks with her older sister.

"ok miss flirts with amara's cousin. yeah don't think i didn't notice that." jasmine exposed, realising what she said after the words had left her mouth.

"YOU LIKE NY COUSIN?!! YUSEF??? ewww. why would you like him? you can do so much better!" amara retched again, not wanting to imagine aaliyah, whom she thought of like a sister, with her younger cousin.

"i don't- jasmine is- ugh jasmine!! you know what we're getting sidetracked. why don't you finish the story?" aaliyah questioned, not wanting to talk about yusef any longer.

"fine. but me and you are having a talk about this later." amara warned.

"sure, continue." aaliyah dragged out unconvincingly.

"so then i argued with him-" amara started.

"of course you did," marcus remarked, avoiding amara's attempts to smack him, "you guys always argue."

"shut up. now, je really started to piss me off, so i started ranting. like i was really going at it and i just started saying how much i liked him. and.....he kissed me." amara whispered, watching her friends start shouting and screaming. "alright guys could you keep it down, i don't want a noise complaint."

"fuck the noise complaint! the damara ship has finally set sail!! pleasee can i tell az and ari!!" aaliyah pleaded, pulling a puppy dog face at amara.

"no! especially not to them. i don't want another intrusive, protective question from my dad. also i don't know what it all means."

"mars, i'm not a genius, but i'm pretty sure that means he likes you." jasmine deadpanned.

"yes i know that! but like are we dating? is he a friend? is it a friends with benefits? a situationship? i don't know and it's driving me mad!" she ranted, pacing about the kitchen.

"alright mars, how bout you talk to him. today. to set the record straight." marcus reassured

"yeah that would work, if i hadn't told him i wanted to take it slow." amara admitted, avoiding eye contact.

"you bitch! i mean you realise you're ruining your own happy ending right? ugh mars do better!" jasmine exclaimed frustratedly.

"i'm sorry. i guess we're not really anything until we talk about it."

"ok cool cool cool. can we tell people now? since you've got it all figured out now?" aaliyah hastily asked.

"fine liyah! but you better come back here so we can talk about you and my cousin!" amara warned, pointing her finger at aaliyah.

it would be safe to say, the whole friendship group knew within a couple of minutes, and dave and amara were therefore bombarded with messages from their friends in excitement. however, with that came the questions of when the two would go on a date.

not that this was atopic they didn't think about, but they both found themselves getting really anxious for their first possible date ( they don't have even have one planned ). so when ria told dave and amara to come with her for her birthday drinks, they saw it as a perfect opportunity to talk to each other. even though a whole week had passed since amara's confession.
