Shoto didn't know why he felt so angry at the fact that Adaliah missed his final battle, he just was. He was angry she was hurt, angry she was unconscious in med-bay during his battle, just angry.
Yes, he was upset at his loss, but he wasn't angry at it. He didn't use his fire, so he had no reason to be angry. But the omega above and beyond her quirk and still came up on the losing end.
He was angry at that, he supposed.
He could do nothing but stand on the podium though for the minute being. Bakugo was still unconscious beside him, muzzled and chained to first place. He threw a fit at being first and had to be dealt with accordingly, even if Shoto didn't agree with their methods. Midnight and Cementoss thought is was for the best, obviously.
He wondered what Adaliah would think of the predicament he was in. The two obviously had a friendship that ran who knows how deep. Shoto didn't like thinking about the alpha being close to her in a way he could've been.
No matter. Sending the third place podium an off-handed glance, Shoto counted down the seconds until the omega would appear. Iida was gone, for family matters and someone had to take third.
Shoto also didn't agree with waking a patient from much needed rest just for her to accept a medal, but U.A. was unconventional from the get-go.
Slumped steps had Shoto watching Adaliah shakily try to stumble onto her podium. She didn't seem to be in any condition to accept the award, but the concepts of choices at U.A. was slowly slipping away from the alpha.
Little did he know how right he was.
Adaliah felt like absolute shit. Her stomach hurt, she was tired and drained (From recovery girl's quirk and her own drawback), and at this point, she was scared of her own shadow. She couldn't see very well, blurry doubles of everything in her field of view. Slowly her eyes were focusing, but still. Kai had to walk her there, keeping an eye out for her mother and Tsunagi.
Looking around, she suddenly felt all of her senses hit her at once. Her eyesight focused, hearing cleared and she could feel. Feel white-hot, bubbling rage boiling in her gut.
"Katsuki!"
Shoto watched as the omega skillfully scaled the side of the first place podium, holding the blond's head in between her soft hands. He apparently woke up between now and when Shoto last looked over at him. His eyes were wide from either fear or rage- most likely the former-- as he tried to yank his hands free from his chain. Adaliah's eyes widened as well, hearing footsteps from behind them. They were set to go on stage soon and Adaliah's quirk couldn't help her without mass damage to not only the environment around them but the three there.
She had only one choice left.
"Shoto-" Her voice was a quiet panic, eyes big and pleading and looking down at him. A whine softly escaped her as she gave a final yank to the handcuff. "Is there anyway you can freeze the metal locks?"
Shoto hummed as he weighed the pros and cons. Could he do it? Yes. Would he do it? That was a different story. Truth be told, he got a twisted kick seeing her depend on him to help her, knowing Bakugo's next moves depended on his decision. He almost said no, just to see what would happen; if the omega would beg for his help or not, but he knew she would most likely hurt herself trying to free the blond. So he said nothing, only clambering up onto the first place podium.
The smile the smaller girl gave him made his heart leap into his throat, the ice he was allowing to coat the handcuffs nearly freezing the blond's hands. His angry, muffled yells had Adaliah spilling apology after apology as she quickly unbuckled the muzzle around his mouth, massaging his jaw right after with his free hand.
He growled lowly leaning into her touch before slamming the handcuffs on the bottom of the podium, the metal shattering easily. Katsuki took the opportunity to roll his wrists and flex his fingers, his face already relaxing.
"They're not going to like this. I'm certain they put you in those restraints for a good reason." Shoto muttered, jumping to his own podium.
"And what would the reason be?" Adaliah huffed. "What reason could possibly justify chaining up Katsuki because he didn't want the medal?" Her hands were still on the blond's chin, making Shoto regret ever even thinking about helping him.
"Wanna ditch?" Whipping his head, Shoto nearly snapped on Bakugo for even thinking about dragging his oh-so-perfect omega down his tainted path. She was an angel, pure and untouched, innocent.
Was he trying to taint her?! Shoto wouldn't let that happen-
He was moving.
The podiums were moving. Holy shit- the podiums were moving upwards. They were getting their awards right now. With shattered bits and pieces of metal shackles and the alpha's muzzle in his omega's hand.
"Shit."
"Language, omega."
Adaliah didn't make a smart retort, too busy looking around at the silenced arena. People were just staring.
Staring at the concrete slab behind Katsuki, staring at the broken metal and ice pieces laying around them, the muzzle dangling lifelessly in her hands. They all just stared at the trio, no one daring to move.
No one but Adaliah of course. She jumped to her third place podium, then to the ground, throwing the muzzle away with an angry growl-- which echoed as it bounced of the arena walls.
"I'm sure there are plenty of options beside chaining and muzzling a child." She hissed. Katsuki, who never wanted the medal anyway, was quick to follow her, Shoto rolling his eyes before doing the same- all three walking out of the silent arena.

"You know, I met Endeavor earlier." Adaliah hummed, chomping on a piece of carrot.
"Did you now?" Katsuki chuckled, biting into his own carrot.
Kai had met with them when they walked out of the stadium, quickly taking them to their apartment where Katsuki (Who knew the place as well as the two who lived there) got to work on meal prep for dinner. His mother had most likely seen the whole debacle and he was not looking forward to going back there.
Not that it mattered, since Kai and Adaliah always offered him a place with them. He would sleep in her bed with her, and Kai would sleep on the couch, per usual. Though, now was a little different with Icy-hot sitting next to Adaliah.
They more-likely-than-not would all walk to school tomorrow together where there would be consequences waiting them.
Not now though. Now, they were going to sit, eating carrots and hummus and talk about the shit show that was Endeavor.
Adaliah nodded, swallowing her mouthful. "He pretty much volun-told me to marry Shoto."
"What?!"
Shoto and Katsuki both shouted at the girl, who only laughed in response, popping another baby carrot into her mouth. Her inner omega internally grimaced at the loud noise, Adaliah reminding her that it was just Shoto and Katsuki-- She had nothing to worry about, especially with Kai in the living room.
The other two, however had plenty to worry about.
Katsuki found his alpha growling in anger at the thought of his- his, only his, his- omega being mated to icy-hot. Or anyone other than him. He wanted to dispose of Todoroki then and there, his hands sparking against his palms. Kai would help him hide the body. Sure, they got off on the wrong foot, but Kai trusted Adaliah with him. Kai trusted Katsuki. He trusted him in his home, in his den, with his sister. Did icy-hot have that? No. Icy-hot had a good for nothing dad and matching daddy issues. He had his own issues to deal with. Adaliah didn't need that. She needed someone that was able to help her with her issues, not add to them.
Shoto, however, thought his dad was good for nothing. Well, he originally did. Though not necessarily some sort of badass heroic redemption arc, he supposed he had a sliver of reluctant respect for the man. He gave his omega a direct bridge for him to swoop in and claim her. To officially make her his. He was so much closer, practically engaged, to her, making her practically his!
"Tsunagi refused though,"
Wait- NO.
Shoto bit down his angry grumble, trying to focus on who this Tsunagi character was.
"Said if I were to one day take over for Hawks, I couldn't focus on relationships."
Shoto made a vow that day to take out whoever this Tsunagi was, as he was nothing more than an obstacle towards him and his omega.
Little did he know, there was already a line.
