Kai hated hospitals. That much was certain.
He hated the gross smell that burned his nostrils, he hated how everyone looked and judged you, and he hated how many people thought he was a nurse because of the black surgical mask he wore.
Today, those were all in minuscule in the grand scheme of things though. In fact, he could replace the word hate with severely dislike in the sense of what he did and did not hate. Compared to those, he truly could live with those.
What he hated most wasn't hospitals or confused old woman who called him hot, no. What he hated was being in the hospital for his sister. He hated knowing she was hurt and he was not.
He hated knowing she took hits for someone twice her age. Kai didn't care if that was her teacher or not. Her radius was absolutely shattered that it took three different healing quirks to even get it salvageable. There would be no scar, but the internal damage had been done. Not to mention the mental trauma. She had a relapse late in the night, snapping on any nurse that tried to touch her. Kai had to come in and calm down-- the only reason he left in the first place was because visiting hours were over.
Deep down, Kai knew that her relapse and injury was no ones fault but the villains', but he still wanted someone else to blame. Someone he could look at and yell at and make feel the pain and worry he did, and countless other guardians did, when they found out that Class 1-A had been attacked.
Signing the final papers for Adaliah's discharge-ment, he took the bill (which accounted for thirty percent of the overall hospital stay) and waited for the nurse to bring out his sister. She stumbled out in sweatpants and a sweatshirt, bags under her eyes, hair in a greasy bun and a black cast around her forearm. She looked tired, smelt miserable, and looked like she wanted the world around her to burn. She seemed so overstimulated that everything around her was most likely a buzz.
Good thing Kai brought his secret weapon.
Though not fully licensed yet, the white furred pooch beside him yipped in excitement, blue vest nearly slipping off of her as she bounced in spot; excited for her first day on the job.
At the sound of the yip, Adaliah immediately perked up, crouching as Aspen ran into her awaiting arms, licking her cheeks and allowing the girl to find comfort burying her face in her fur.
Aspen was a spur of the moment find; a stray dog Adaliah took home and just recently they signed the dog up for training to be a psychiatric service dog. It seemed to be a good idea, but it would be a few months until Aspen was ready to assist Adaliah with her day to day struggles.
Kai could see they were both more than ready for that day.

The day before school was back in session, Adaliah was going over things she was still uncertain of in her classes. They were due for a pop quiz soon- despite it being early in the year. It was high school, it moved fast, so she would be more surprised if they didn't have a quiz in the coming week.
Though, the sports festival was coming up too. She remembered watching that during the breaks in her training, when Tsunagi-- her, then, handler-- gave her a break, starry eyed and excited as she watched the variety of competitions and how many different ways one person could use their quirk.
Shaking her head, she refocused on her notes, hand threaded in her hair as she struggled to remember her bio notes.
"The peripheral nervous system splits into the somatic and automatic systems, which are further split then. The automatic are further split into the..." Her brain blanked, eyes staring up at the roof as she refused to look at her notes.
"Sympathetic and Parasympathetic branches."
Looking down, Adaliah found an indigo haired male staring down at her, a coffee scent a lot stronger than the cafe wafting around him. He had eyebags dragging down his eyes, which were unyielding as they stared at her.
"The automatic system splits into those two branches," he finished, taking a drink out of his beverage.
Adaliah paused, with her mouth open before shaking her head, instead smiling brightly."Hey, thanks! I'm Adaliah!"
The male rolled his eyes. "Good for you."
"Do you wanna sit with me? I'm sure this could do us both some good?" Adaliah offered, ignoring the tone the alpha took, kneeling on her chair and turning to face him. Her weight was distributed between her hands, making the male question if she was any pain (One of her hands still in the black cast until she could get it removed-- which she had an appointment to do tomorrow).
"Sit with a 1-A student? I'll pass." The alpha growled. He watched as she lost her smile, looking down to her notes.
"Okay..." She paused, peeking up once more with a smile. "Hey, wait. If you know I'm in 1-A that means you go to U.A.!"
This time the male paused, looking back at the preening omega. "You're smart Adaliah."
She seemed the beam even brighter, bouncing in her chair at the praise. Was she ignoring his tone or was she just that dense?
Hitoshi didn't know how he felt about either option. On one hand, that means she just really wanted to him to sit with her. On the other, she was fucking with him, using the time he sat there (If he sat) to constantly ridicule him for being in general studies.
His alpha growled at him with that thought. 'Look at her! You really think that sweet little thing is capable of anything malicious?'
'She's still in class 1-A. Meaning she's smart. It could all be a ploy to get into his head.'
His alpha snapped on him, a gross feeling of sharp pain striking his temples. What he wouldn't give to have a more reasonable inner side of him. His alpha was harsh and mean, always snapping to get what he wanted; but maybe that was due to sleep deprivation.
"Are you okay? That looked like it hurt." The omega was by his side in a second, her free hand lightly tracing his forehead with feather-like touches and cool hands. They were a welcomed relief, even if the pain was gone as soon as it happened. "Was it your inner alpha?"
He looked at her as if she told him the sky was green. He knew 1-A was smart, but holy god, that was off charter quick in connecting the lines. He hummed an affirmation nonetheless, watching as she nodded, soon purring into his chest.
What the fuck number two.
"Sorry, but my best friend's alpha gets snappy too, and this calms him down. If you want me to stop just say the word." She murmured, head tucked into his chest. Her purrs vibrated against his chest, making his alpha already feel at ease. He was quiet with his head down, looking ready to take a well earned nap.
He deserved it.
The strangest thing, however, wasn't that his alpha wasn't nagging him like a hobby. It was the Hitoshi didn't want to let go. He relished in having her in his arms, knowing that she was so vulnerable to anything he thought of. It was a bit masochistic, but Hitoshi was nothing if not.
Wordlessly, his arms tightened a little more.
Maybe there was hope for class 1-A afterall.
