"I'm starving!" Copper, Scarlet's MudWing gang member, groaned as they walked into the SAMB's dining hall for breakfast. Though it was still very early in the morning, and the dining hall had just about a handful of SAMBers in it, the MudWing was complaining about being hungry. Again. "Don't worry," she reassured him, we'll be eating soo--" She was cut off at the sight of several SAMBers gathered together in the corner of the almost-deserted hall. Changing from a SkyWing to her human form, Scarlet rushed over to them, her dragon gang members close behind.
"What's wrong?" she asked. The first to respond was Elvina, who spun around with wide, worried eyes. "We can't find Tree." "We were planning to go on a quest together, but she never showed up!" shouted Rain frantically. "Where was she last?" Scarlet questioned. "We saw her in the library last night. She said that she couldn't sleep so she decided to do some reading," Aerca added as she walked up to Scarlet with the book Throne of Glass in her hands. "This was abandoned in a chair near the fireplace." Elvina squinted and then gasped, "That's her book! But I know her; she would never do that to a library book."
Scarlet then heard a sharp, eager whisper in her ear: "Can we eat now?" Copper stared at her with a pitiful gaze. "You guys go eat, "Scarlet said to the dragons, "We're going to figure out what's going on."
"SOMEONE HELP!!!" a scream suddenly echoed through the hallway. All eyes of the dining hall darted towards the figure sprinting into the room. Esmerelda narrowed her eyes as she strained to see-- "It's Destiny! I wonder what's wrong?"
A wide-eyed Destiny ran up to them, panting hard, "I was just in the library with Ice. One moment he was reading and the next he was gone!" Gone?! Scarlet thought wildly. As if reading her mind, Esmerelda, gently but sternly, grabbed Destiny's arm, "He's gone? Disappeared?" Destiny gulped and nodded, "He was reading something about dogs. Oh, what was it called? Surfers? Swimmers? Survivors-- yes that was it: the Survivors series."
"We should go summon as many SAMBers as we can and figure out what's going on," Scarlet suggested. Something really weird is going on, she added to herself.
The others nodded, but just as they turned around to leave the hall, an eerie howl, followed by a horrible, cackling voice, filled the air. "REALITY IS OURS!" it screamed, and then there was darkness.
