"solstice" ; no, he actually doesn't have a proper codename. why? because it's the ultimate middle finger to his family if he uses their name as a hero to fight them and their villainy. also, he's lazy to think of a new one.

well first of all, solstice is a haughty son of a- to most, solstice is a stuck-up prettyboy who spends his time being a total bleephole and drinking. he appears to most insensitive and callous, and he's notorious for his personality's sharp contrast to his gorgeous features. solstice likes to think he's all that. he portrays himself as heartless because it's easier to be cruel and mean than it is to acknowledge that he's a living and feeling person, too. it's easier to pretend he doesn't care than it is to admit he does. people tend to meet solstice, then write him off as a rich prettyboy who won't even give you the time of day. and they'd be right, i suppose; that's exactly who solstice is, because that's exactly who he tries to be. he's very good at putting up fronts, you see. he's a drinker, smh. it's against his better judgment - solstice is a sharp individual, even if he doesn't quite reach his full potential in terms of intellect - but it makes it easier to dull the pain of loss and hurt that's crippled him for years... but more on that later. suffice it to say that he's portrayed himself as the kind of guy who's charming at first glance but quickly becomes intolerably rude and mean-spirited to the extent that it's more than an act. perhaps if his life had taken a different course, he could've turned out as a well-spoken young man with a bright future... but alas, that does not seem to be in store for solstice.

before solstice was the half-drunken incredibly well-dressed mess he is today, he was a charming, bubbly youth. you might wonder how he got from there to who he is today.

grief can do so much to a person.

solstice's life was alright. his family owns a business involved in just about everything you can think of; the solstice influence is seen everywhere. in the market, in media, in politics, in humanitarian efforts. they're everywhere. solstice's life promised prosperity and good fortune. he was charming and managed to get everyone wrapped around his fingers- well, everyone except the people who really mattered: his family.

solstice's father was hardly around often enough to develop any relationship with him. and when father was around, he was talking with solstice's older brother heathen, who was getting ready to inherit the family business. heathen wasn't very kind to solstice, either. he scorned his younger brother, perhaps jealous of solstice's gift with people and words. you couldn't keep the two in the same room for longer than a minute; they'd tear it up in their arguing that would quickly turn to exchanging fists. heathen would always win when they got to physical fights, like he was making up for how unskilled he was with verbal beatings when compared to solstice.

but it was tolerable.

they say all good things come to an end. solstice's life wasn't necessarily good, so maybe that saying to be revised to 'all tolerable things must come to an end.' because solstice's comfortable life sure did. it was a night like any other, like most nights are. solstice and wisp were on their way home from school. they were walking that day, because the car sent to pick them up had broken down and solstice had insisted he could guide wisp home from school. wisp and solstice were always very close. wisp was gentle. everyone loved him. solstice wished he was naturally likable, too, but he had to learn how to be charming like that. he learnt a lot from his little brother. whenever solstice and heathen got into one of their frequent fights, it was usually wisp who broke them up. wisp wouldn't be around to do that anymore, after that night. it was a drunk driver who did it, just like how a drunk driver cause so many other tragedies all over the world. in any case, it was wisp who died from the accident when solstice got out of it, just injured.

it should've been him.

it wasn't his guilty conscience that had to say it, because everyone around him said it for him. heathen took every chance to tell solstice that it was solstice's fault for what happened to wisp that night. even solstice's parents abashedly admitted that they'd rather have seen solstice die than gentle, wonderful, beautiful, perfect wisp. it's no wonder solstice went bitter after that. his mother started drinking away her worries, so he followed her example. inebriation was an escape. a sharp, cruel tongue was a method of refusing to acknowledge the emotions that plagues solstice.

father ; kronus heathen halcyon solstice ⸻ age ; 55 ⸻ info ; the inheritor to the solstice family business, a long-standing corporation with shared in just about everything and involved in even more, particularly in media and humanitarian efforts... and, less known, underground crime circles. kronus is incredibly well-of and has guided the company through prosperity set up for him by his father and grandfather, who were men just as shady as kronus. as a father, kronus is distant and never really got to know his sons ⸻ status ; alive

mother ; wyren poetry solstice-smith ⸻ age ; 49 ⸻ info ; once a supremely successful model and actress, wyren is happily married to a rich man. a marriage of convenience, but worth it for wyren. she isn't one to complain, even with the knowledge that her family is involved in weapons trafficking and grotesque sciences. as a mother, she's dedicated and somewhat infatuated with her husband, more than happy to take care of the sons. but when tragedy struck and her youngest died, she turned to drinking... not unlike her middle-now-youngest son ⸻  status ; alive

older brother ; heathen aerin halcyon solstice ⸻ age ; 21 ⸻ info ; heathen and solstice have never gotten along, which isn't surprising considering how different they've always been. heathen is slated to inherit the various family businesses, which is just fine- the only problem is that he's an arrogant twat with no respect for anybody, especially not his younger brothers ⸻ status ; alive

younger brother ; wisp caprice halcyon solstice ⸻ age ; 13 ( at death ) ⸻ info ; out of all solstice's family members, he was always closest with wisp. the youngest in the family was gentle and got along with just about everybody. he was almost too good to be true. solstice misses him... so much. it's no wonder solstice's life has taken such a dramatic turn since wisp died ⸻ status ; deceased ( 3 years )

charmspeak ; solstice's natural affinity for words is augmented by his developing powers of charmspeak, a supernatural compulsion for people to do as solstice says... so long as he does it with subtlety. in fact, most of solstice's powers are best used subtly. which suits his character; he's not confrontational whatsoever ⸻ enhanced beauty ; of course, solstice hardly needs any kind of glamour effect, though what he's given is useful and synergises with his charmspeak. he's already one of the most beautiful people you'll ever meet ⸻ hypnotic presence ; almost like the alcohol that solstice consumes so frequently, his very presence is intoxicating and alluring... when he wants to be. he doesn't usually care enough about people to present himself as likable.

| 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐦𝐞 ;

very victorian gentleman inspired, with a nice waistcoat and pimp cane. he just looks good okay. i couldn't find any decent reference pics, but if you take a look at his pinterest board you'll get an idea. solstice doesn't have an obnoxious latex suit like the stereotypical superhero might; his powers are subtle, and his costume reflects it. he's obviously not a superhero. he wears a dark victorian-style suit with gloves, it's quite simple. he doesn't cover his face, either, since it's a potent part of his powers.
