FLASHBACK

"You never really explained how the almighty Caroline Kingsley, captured Captain America's heart? Or more importantly how you even got the nickname Bloodlust?" Clint asked stuffing his mouth with food and Caroline putting her head down. Natasha saw what Clint't comment did to her and instantly elbowed him in the side. He grunted hard almost making the food in his mouth exiting his body.

"First of all, ouch." Clint said rubbing his side, "Second of all, I'm sorry Care. I know how that topic is very sensitive to you."

Caroline knew that Clint didn't mean it on purpose and surely knew that Steve was a topic that wasn't discussed very often. The only people whom she talked to about Steve was Phil, Peggy, and at times Natasha. Of course the only person who knew the whole story was Peggy but with the others she would leave out major details. Especially of how she was manipulated and how that made her pain, especially memories disappear from her existence.

Sure after everything that happened Caroline should be happy that she repented her mistake and got those memories back, or who knows how long it would've been since she remembered Steve again?

"It's okay... For sometime I've always thought that it was better to keep it to myself because my story isn't an easy one. I mean both of you weren't even working for Shield before I convinced Fury to let you in."

"I don't know how we even accepted it," Clint joked. "I'm sorry back to your story."

"Before I was rudely interrupted, Steve and I were the most tight knit bunch and would always go anywhere together with Bucky. I don't know exactly how I captured his heart, I guess you would have to ask him." Caroline said once again gaining her somber tone before Clint asked once again.

"And the bloodlust?"

Natasha once gain took another shot at Clint, giving her the death stare again from the punch.

"Stop hitting me!"

"Natasha, it's okay." Caroline told her to keep her from hitting him. The full story of her descend was as long as the Bible itself. Being alive for 94 years was certainly something that not a lot of people would believe. Then again nobody really believed in vampires. Caroline's file is only meant to be seen by Level 9 agents and last time she checked Natasha and Clint were Level 7.

"Starting at the beginning seems like the perfect route to go in."

PRESENT

Caroline was going to show Steve around the sites and what she's been up to all this time, until they received a call from Phil. They were needed to talk to Dr.Banner about the possible site of Loki or the Tesseract.

The two boarded the Quinjet to help Steve get up to date with the files. Yet Caroline knew that Phil was looming around and probably trying to contain his excitement. She saw from a distance and also heard Phil giving himself a pep talk on being cool around Steve, his idol Captain America.

Caroline tugged Steve closer to her, "Steve just so you know, Phil is a big well, huge Captain America fan. Also, Phil is like a father to me, he helped me contain the inner monster in me. What I'm trying to say is if he says something weird don't make your awkward face."

"What awkward face?" Steve asked before Caroline elbowed him in the gut, seeing that Phil was coming closer.

"Phil!" Caroline greeted him letting go of Steve's hand to hug Phil. But almost instantly went back to grasping Steve's hand.

"So you're both on board then?" Phil asked seeing the two together with a clear nod. Seeing Caroline and Steve, Phil knew the joy that she must of felt to see him again. He smiled at their hand holding before handing a tablet to Steve so he could review the files.

"So this Doctor Banner was trying to replicate the serum that was used on me?" Steve spoke while quickly reading the files of the Avengers, with Banner being first.

"A lot of people were, you were the world's first superhero." Phil answers his comment with Caroline picking up where he left off.

"Banner thought that Gamma radiation might be holding the key to unlocking the original formula."

"Didn't really go his way did it?" Steve whispered, not wanting to sound to like a mean guy into Caroline's ear.

"Not so much. But he's got that thing though, that guy is like a Stephen Hawking." Caroline said looking at a very puzzled Steve, who squinted his eyes not catching her flow.

"He's like a really smart person." Phil said with Steve still confused and Caroline just patting him so he can let it go. The two lovebirds sat next to each other with Phil across from them. It was in this moment that Phil couldn't contain his fangirling inside him anymore.

"I got to say it's an honor to meet you, officially. I mean, I sort of met you. I watched you while you were sleeping." Coulson tells Steve, with Caroline ducking her head into Steve's shoulder. She could still notice the embarrassment on Phil's face. Everybody knew that if nobody stopped Coulson, he could embarrass himself for the rest of his life. But trying to stop the conversation to stop Phil from sounding like a creep ended up backfiring, "I mean I observed you while you were unconscious under the ice."

Caroline was at the point of laughing when she mouthed,"Phil that's enough"

"What he was trying to say is that it's a huge honor having you onboard." Caroline finished for Phil, who wanted to say more before Caroline shushed him to save himself for embarrassment.

"Well, I hope I'm the man for the job." Steve smiled at Caroline who blushed brightly before Phil interrupted the pair's flirting.

"We made some modifications to the uniform. I had a little design input."

"The uniform? Aren't the stars and stripes a bit too, old fashioned?" Steve looked over to Caroline, wondering what she thought of the uniform.

"With all due respect Captain, with everything going one, with things that are about to come, people might just need old fashioned." Phil answered with Caroline nodding along before whispering in his ear

"I think it looks sexy." Caroline teased with an innocent Steve Rogers insanely blushing and Phil awkwardly standing and watching the interaction.

Once the quinjet landed on the helicarrier, the trio was greeted by Natasha. It was the only person in which Caroline forget about her hand holding with Steve. She squealed at the sight of Natasha and quickly ran to her for a hug,

"Someone seems to be happy," Natasha whispered into Caroline's ear before being introduce to Steve by Phil.

"Agent Romanoff, this is Captain Rogers."

"Hi, they need you inside." Natasha gestured to Phil, who went ahead leaving the three alone.

"It was quite the buzz around here finding you in the ice. Did he ask him to sign his trading cards yet?" Natasha asked taking Caroline away from Steve, and linking her arms around hers.

"No, he was too busy being a creep and explaining how he was watching my boyfriend sleep." Caroline giggled knowing that Phil would kill her later for that but then started to realize what she said.

"Boyfriend?" Natasha raised her eyebrows with Caroline instantly quieting Natasha down hoping that Steve didn't hear.

"Trading cards?" Steve asked, giving Caroline instant relief that he didn't hear the term boyfriend.

"They're vintage, he's very proud." Natasha smiles knowing that Caroline knew how much Phil loved those cards.

From a distance, the three could see Bruce Banner slightly lost, "Dr.Banner!" Steve screamed calling him over with Banner looking in their direction.

"Oh yeah hi, they informed me that you'd be coming" Banner shook Steve's hand firmly.

"Word is that you can find the cube"

"Is that the only word?" Bruce asked

"The only one I care about."

"Ladies and Gentleman you might want to step inside in a minute, it's going to get a little harder to breathe." Natasha informed everybody which signified they were ready to take off. Sirens started going off and workers started locking the aircrafts onto the deck. Steve and Banner were confused, which was kind of hilarious because their faces were priceless and Natasha and Caroline enjoyed this.

"Is this a submarine?" Steve asked Caroline, while they walked towards the edge of the carrier,

"Really? They want me in a pressurized metal container?" Banner groaned with Caroline smiling at Banner's disappointment. Caroline looked over to Banner, "this thing isn't going underwater, it's going up."

"Oh no, this is the worst."

Caroline laughed slightly at Bruce's comment before Steve lead them other inside. Still hand in hand, Steve took the liberty to explore more of the Helicarrier with Caroline.

"Are you finally going to explain to me, how you're still here?" Steve asked pulling Caroline into a secured room. Caroline looked down at her feet before finally accepting that it was time to tell Steve. She made sure that the doors were locked, not wanting anybody to ruin what she was about to say.

"What I'm about to show you isn't who I am, well not anymore." Caroline kneeled down in front of Steve, taking his hands into hers.

"Care, you're scaring me," Steve cupped her cheek feeling his reassurance before Caroline did her next action. She got up off the floor and turned around, pushing her hair back and letting the veins around her eyes seep through and the fangs peek out a bit not wanting to give Steve a heart attack.

Turning around slowly, Caroline could see Steve's reaction to her form. A vampire. Vampires existed. His unsteadiness to what she looked like in this form, the fangs, the veins, and God forbid he saw blood. He couldn't have imagined how she could've handled being a vampire. Stepping closer, Caroline kept taking 10 steps back. Once her back hit the wall, she knew that she couldn't hide it anymore.

Steve slowly just as Caroline did, lifted his hand to touch the veins that were surrounding her eyes. What she saw as burdens, he saw as battle scars of how she managed to survive so long. His touch managed to calm Caroline down and just as quickly as they appeared, they were gone. Caroline kept her head down while it bashed with Steve's chest. He knew how hard it must've been for Caroline to confess something like that and how she must be feeling but the simple action that he took was wrap her in his arms.

"You are still the same Caroline that I know." And the one that he loved.
