SPEYER LEGACY SCHOOL
new york, new york
3pm

the group of nine year olds sat quietly, working on their assignment as i sat at my desk correcting papers. "does anyone need help?" i asked as i looked up, glancing around the classroom. most of the children were diligently working away.

soon enough, a hand shot up. i looked over at the student, a sweet brunette named emma.

"what's up, emma?" i asked as i approached her desk, looking down at the paper.

"i don't know how to spell that word." she announced, pointing to the paper.

i looked down at the page and spotted the word, disoriented. i chuckled, "that is a tough word."

i helped emma with the word and she looked up at me with a smile before i turned my gaze towards the door where a knock came from. i called for whoever it was come in.

holden walked into the room, that charming smile plastered across his features.

a smile appeared across my face as he entered the room. i greeted him with a cheerful, "hey you!"

he chuckled as he approached me, one hand in his pocket, the other holding a bag. "i know school's almost over but i wanted to come by and check on ya...and maybe walk with you after school gets out?"

i nodded with a smile, "that sounds good. i have dismissal duty today, but i should be out around four." i glanced down and spotted the bag he was holding. curiosity soon got the best of me. "what's in the bag?"

his smile widened, "i brought chocolate chip cookies, but i figured i should ask if any of the kids are allergic to anything first." he chuckled, "i remember what happened the last time."

i couldn't help but let out a chuckle at his reference to the past. "i'm glad that we can at least laugh about it now." i replied. "no allergies here." i informed him.

"perfect...i know these can be a little controversial but kids seem to really love them." holden said as he began passing out the cookies to the kids.

the children gasped, "cookies?! i love cookies!" a boy exclaimed.

i leaned back on my desk, watching intently as the hockey coach handed out the cookies. "everyone meet my good friend, mr. andel who was kind enough to bring chocolate chip cookies!" i announced.

a chorus of thank you's came from the class as the kids began chowing down on the sweet dessert.

holden passed out the last cookie, keeping one for himself. "i figured the teacher should probably have a cookie as well." he teased as he handed me the cookie.

"thank you...that's why you're my favorite coach." i teased as i accepted the cookie, taking a small bite.

JAMIE'S BROWNSTONE APARTMENT
new york, new york
5:30pm

our lips were locked together in a heated kiss as we laid on the couch of my apartment, my body pressed between holden and the back of the couch.

suddenly, a knock came from the door that i chose to ignore.

holden pulled back, noticing the knock as well. "are you gonna get that?" he asked as he planted a kiss on my jawline.

"it's someone trying to knock on my door on a friday. it's not even dinner time!" i told him as i leaned up to reconnect our lips in another kiss.

the knock came once again, louder this time but we ignored it once again. holden ran a hand over my hip, his tongue exploring my mouth.

the knock came even louder. i finally pulled back, "what the hell..." i muttered.

holden chuckled as i got up from our spot, straightening out my messy hair before walking through the apartment. "coming!" i called out.

i opened the door and was surprised to see samantha standing on the other side. "finally." she said as she rolled her eyes before her gaze flickered at holden who gave her a wave. "well, i hope i'm not interrupting."

"no, just making out like teenagers." i said in somewhat of an embarrassed tone as i stood back to let her in.

samantha laughed as she walked through the door and into the hall, her designer heels clicking against the floor. "well i come in good spirits. with an invitation." she said as she came to a stop.

"an invitation?" i repeated, my eyebrows raised.

holden came up behind me, his chin resting on my shoulder as his hands came around to wrap around my waist.

samantha smirked at the sight, "remember that hit waiter from raw? well i'm in the process of transforming him into the hottest actor that new york has seen. so he'll be in a play tomorrow, and i'm hoping that you'll be there." she announced.

"an actor?" holden mumbled. "i thought waiters just serve food." he joked. i elbowed him in the stomach which earned a playful "ow!" from the man standing behind me.

"i'd be happy to go, sam." i told the blonde.

she nodded, "good. and you can bring holden. the more the merrier." she said as she handed me two tickets.

holden chuckled, "a little play action, count me in."

samantha sent me a smile, "great, then it's settled! i'll see the both of you tomorrow." she said before turning on her heel and strutting out the door. "i'll let you two get back to it." she said as she opened the front door.

"see ya, sam." i said as she disappeared behind the door.

holden let his arms go from around my waist as the door closed. "never really pegged you for a theatre girl." he teased as i turned to face him.

i rolled my eyes and lightly smacked him on the arm. "i can be. i go sometimes because of charlotte." i responded.

holden chuckled as he grabbed my hips, pulling me into him. "well who am i to judge my theatre nerd girlfriend." he teased.

"girlfriend?" i repeated, suddenly perking up. i hadn't heard that phrase from him recently.

holden chuckled at the way i perked up. "i mean, we've only really been seeing each other for weeks now so what else would you be?" he replied with a smirk.

i gave a sheepish smile as i slowly wrapped my arms around his neck. "maybe i'm just happy that you called me that." i mumbled as my fingers played with the hair at the nape of his neck.

FULL MOON THEATRE
new york, new york
8pm

holden and i stood on the long line to enter the theatre where the play would be held. "samantha really got all these people here..." i said to holden.

he let out a chuckle as we shuffled through the crowded entrance of the theatre. "samantha knows how to get an audience. she has influence."

i watched the various people file into the theatre. "samantha's damn good at her job." i mumbled as we shuffled onto the red carpet, though we both looked at the road as we saw a motorcycle speeding away.

once we stepped in the door, we were met with a wave of warm air. we handed our coats off to the coat check before proceeding into the main theatre.

as we made our way inside, i saw charlotte seated with dakota, miranda and her new boyfriend. "hey!" i said as we took our seats.

"hey! you made it!" charlotte said with a smile, standing up to give me a hug. "this is a full house!" she gushed as she glanced around at the filled venue.

"you're telling me!" i said as holden said his hellos to dakota and robert.

"guess what? i quit my job, i'm a full time mom now. isn't that great?" charlotte said with a smile.

"that's amazing, char! amazing!" i told her, truthfully.

just then, carrie and stanford came over, carrie looking a little upset. "hi" she said as she came over to us.

"sweetie, what's wrong?" i asked carrie who handed us three girls a post-it note that read: 'i can't do this- i'm sorry.'

"who-" miranda started to ask.

carrie rolled her eyes as she snatched the note back. "berger. he's mad over my success! for my book i got an advanced check and he got na-da."

"so he's jealous." stanford said as he shook his head.

"jealous, yes. it's ridiculous! i'm starting to think he never truly liked me." carrie admitted.

"mmm," the three of us hummed.

carrie tilted her head to the side. "spill. what's up with the 'mmm'." she said.

"it's just, calvin already told you all of that." i told her with a shrug. "and truly,  i'm sorry you're going through that...it's devastating and cold."

carrie sighed, rolling her eyes as she set her jaw. "i know, maybe it's for the best. it still stings though. i really thought he liked me. but he just had to almost kill me on the motorcycle, leave me on the red carpet with a breakup note. on a post-it!" she exclaimed.

samantha walked over and took her seats. "what's going on over here?" she said as she took note of carrie's face.

"tell you later?" carrie suggested.

samantha nodded.

almost done with the play, smith walked onto the front of the stage, slowly unbuckling his overalls. holden and i sat in our seats, watching as the young blonde man unbuckled the overalls. we all glanced at samantha, who was sitting up in her seat.

when his overalls dropped to the ground, leaving him completely bare, holden and i both began looking at the brochure. dakota and charlotte awkwardly looking down, miranda and robert looked around the room, carrie looked in a daze as her mind was focused on berger. but samantha and stanford continued looking at the nude man, a smirk on their lips.

"the rain came down, hard and soft. it hit the grass, green and wet. wet, so wet. it reminded me of you. you always smelled like the rain." smith jerod stated, his eyes focused on samantha.

once the play ended, the cast gave a standing ovation. "full frontal and he can act!" stanford commented.

"who knew?" samantha said.

"he is quite the actor. samantha, i'm impressed." i admitted as the curtains closed.

"i told you, he'll be the hottest thing in new york." samantha said with a nod.

"i'm already flushed." stated stanford causing us to let out laughs.
