It couldn't be...she was the "assailant" all along, the one who continued to kill Subaru. Rem?! This plan of his---won't work anymore. After, figuring out two humans aren't enough to face her. We are so screwed...

Subaru: REM?!

Jiro: (Angry) Why?

Rem: If you do not resist, I will grant you a painless death...

Subaru: Is that really how little you trusted me?

-She remains quiet...even after he gave her an honest question-

Jiro: Yes...she doesn't seem to trust you enough.

Rem: You still have a chance to walk away, Jiro. I am not here for you...

Jiro: Screw that...I won't let you touch a hair on his head.

Subaru: (Worried) J-J-Jiro?! Get out while you still can...

Jiro: Not an option. I don't back down from a challenge...especially when my best friend's life is on the line. 

Subaru: Well, I won't let it stand either...I'm sorry...<smiling>

-Walking up to Rem slowly, I knew he was bluffing...taking out his phone...he wanted to blind her-

Jiro: RUN SUBARU! I'LL HOLD HER!

-Seeing as he smacked Rem to the ground, allowed time for me to restrain her-

Rem: Let go of me, Jiro! He's the enemy...don't make me kill you! 

-Pulling her arm up behind the back, I held Rem there and whispered something-

Jiro: Please...just leave him alone. There's no need for Subaru to die...we can figure this out together, just stop....

Rem: I'll be honest, you are quite persuasive but...that could only get you so far...and both of you are in my way!

-Using the back of her head to hit my face, Rem stunned me..., panicking to her weapon...I crawled over to grab Rem's ankle until she kicked me away...brutally-

Rem: Now, you will die...

-Swinging her chain ball at me, I ducked in time and roll over to grab my blade and ran off into the woods-

Rem: YOU CAN'T HIDE FROM ME!

-Running off, I looked behind me but couldn't find her anywhere which made me scared-

Jiro: FUCK! WHERE DID SHE GO?!

-Seeing as Subaru ran off ahead, he waved towards me...with a worried look on his face-

Jiro: YOU IDIOT! I TOLD YOU TO RUN!---AH!

-Feeling as the spike land into my spinal cord, there came across a gust of green wind-like energy coming at Subaru...and as he turned around...it was too late-

Jiro: SUBARU! <groans in pain> I CAN'T FEEL MY LEGS!!! <crying>

Rem: That's enough out of you, Jiro. <Bang> 

-Hitting me in the face repeatedly, she dragged me across the grass...and dropped me next to a crippled Subaru...

Jiro: I told you to---<coughs blood> run?

-Taking ahold of the kitchen knife, she stabbed me a couple times in the ribcage. Throwing it behind her, it was over for us both-

Jiro: AHHH!

Subaru: STOP IT, REM?! 

Rem: No...I warned you both before...this would've been over quickly if you didn't resist. Now, it is your turn to die...

-Holding onto her ankle, she pulled me closer to Natsuki...and crawling in front of him, I drew out my blade...until she crushed my wrist with her heel-

Jiro: (Crying) WHY?! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?! WHAT HAS HE EVER DONE TO YOU?!

-Placing her foot on top of my neck, she strangled me slowly to death-

Subaru: STOP IT PLEASE, REM! I'M BEGGING YOU!

-Seeing the tears coming down his eyes, I notify him that everything was gonna be alright...closing my eyes, Rem twisted her foot---snapping my pretty neck-

Rem: Mana of water, heal this damaged body...if you die so easily, I cannot get any information from you. 

Subaru: My heart belongs to Emilia-tan forever---AHH!

Rem: Who hired you, and under what conditions?

Subaru: Where did I got wrong!? Why do you hate me so much!? I've loved you both so m---

-Cutting deep...Rem sliced his throat clean to finish the kill...and as his body fell. Everything became pitch-black-

-RESTART-

Rem: Sir, have you awakened?! 

-Listening to the room next to me, I could hear awkward breathing...as if someone was having a panic attack-

Jiro: I must go...help...gaaaah! <puking out forms of spit/blood> 

-I collapsed onto the floor, only to raise my head up to find Ram at the door. The other twin sister-

Ram: Sister...Sister...This boy needs help! 

-Why am I so weak? <shutting my eyes> I could feel the pink haired maid tug on my sleeves-

Jiro: Leave me alone...please...

Ram: But, sir---

Jiro: Did you hear me? <curling up into the sheets> I told you I wanna be left alone.

Ram: (Bowing) As you wish...

-Closing the door, she stood outside and was able to hear me cry-

Rem: What's gotten into him lately? 

Ram: I don't know, sister...

AN HOUR LATER

Emilia enters my room, seeing as how the bedsheets lain across the floor and the pillows stained with blood...she walks over the misplaced items, the silver-hair girl sat on the bed...looking at me.

Jiro: (Polite) Do you need something, Emilia? I must apologize for earlier...I haven't been feeling good lately...especially after--- <pausing>

Emilia: After what, Jiro? The attack?

Jiro: What are you talking about?

Emilia: Oh, you probably lost a bit of memory...you and another man was attacked while you tried to get here...unfortunately, we weren't able to find out whom was responsible.

Jiro: ....... <rubbing his wound> Is "he" alright?

Emilia: Yes, he's actually fine...just resting in Irlam village at the moment...

Jiro: That's good to hear... <remaining quiet>

Emilia: Could I ask you a question, Jiro?

Jiro: Yeah.

Emilia: Why does Subaru keep secrets to himself, does he not trust me enough to share them? Because, I'm just worried that...maybe...maybe he's gotten hurt before.

Jiro: To tell you the truth, Emilia. Subaru has this ability to-- <reflecting whether or not he should say it>

Emilia: The ability to do what, Jiro? <curious>

Jiro: To Return---gaaah!!! <feeling as someone was squeezing his neck>

-I began to choke uncontrollably, and couldn't let any words after, "Return" come out of my mouth-

Emilia: JIRO! JIRO! <shaking me> ARE YOU ALRIGHT?! 

-Calming down, I turned my head to her in sadness...and said something-

Jiro: He's just going through something from his "past"...nightmares can really affect the person mentally. 

Emilia: I suppose...But, if there's anything you want to discuss. I'm always willing to listen...Jiro.

Jiro: Thank you, Emilia. I'm sorry if I worried you...

Emilia: Don't mention it! I am glad we had the chance to chat this fine morning.

-Getting up off the bed, she went to the door-

Jiro: Oh...

Emilia: What is it, Jiro?

Jiro: I wanted to let you know how "kind" you are to others...also, don't worry about Subaru. I'll keep a close eye on him.

Emilia: (Smiles) Thank you, Jiro. Your words meant a lot to me...I just wish "others" could see me the same way as you do... <closing the door>

-Exiting the room, I got up quickly to put on some clothes...seeing as my outfit is stained with blood, I needed a new appearance. Choosing something else, I went outside into the hallway and walked over to Subaru's chamber. Knocking on it three times, no answer.-

Jiro: Subaru! If you're in there, I'm gonna come inside...

-Cranking the knob, I open the door to see Subaru staring up at the ceiling-

Jiro: Damn. It's worse than I thought.

Subaru: Why are you here?

Jiro: Me? Hah, you ask that! Well, if you might be wondering...I came to check on my friend.

Subaru: What good are "friends" anymore, the only thing they'll do in the end is betray you.

Jiro: Can't argue with that statement, but to say what is the point in having friends? I still can't believe Natsuki Subaru lost hope so easily. 

Subaru: Hope? What is left for me now? There's no way out of this, none? You could barely protect me from Rem so...why should I trust you to do anything?!

-Sensing that he was furious with me, I wasn't going to respond back in anger-

Jiro: I did tell you to "run"...<sitting on the bed> I gave you enough time to get away from her but it's really surprising when the people closest to you, "stay"...to make sure you're doing fine. 

Subaru: But, I don't get it. Why would you sacrifice yourself to save me?

Jiro: Don't even bother asking...because you already know the answer.

Subaru: ...............

Jiro: Anyways, your "girlfriend" was telling me about how worried she was about you. 

Subaru: She--she did? Emilia?

Jiro: Yeah, who else? Rem...

-causing both of us to stay silent-

Jiro: Never mind, that was a stupid joke...

Subaru: It's fine...Jiro.

Jiro: But, really Subaru. Let's find out the truth together, please...for me...

-Hesitating to commit...Subaru held out his hand-

Subaru: (Hopeful) Alright! I'm in!

Jiro: Hehe, I knew you had it in you...

Subaru: But, I'll be leading...

Jiro: Of course, "brave" leader...lead on.

TIMESKIP

Continuing on about our day, I figured he has about four nights to live...meaning we had time to find out what's really going on. Speaking of which, Subaru asked to be a permanent guest of this profound household during dinner. Seeing as if I should take the role in his position, 

Subaru: I would like to be served as a permanent guest. With the finest clothes and the best food. 

-Listening to everyone pause for a second, I heard Ram's cute sneeze-

Ram: Ah-choo! Huh?! 

-Seeing as everyone looks at her crazy, Subaru was being serious-

Roswaal: Your request is accepted. You shall remain here as long as you want and welcomed anytime!

Subaru: Thank you...

Roswaal: Certainly...as for you...blondie <looks at me> What are you seeking?

Jiro: Umm, well... <scratching my head>

Roswaal: (Curious) Yes?!

Jiro: I want to serve as the Butler.

Roswaal: Hmm...you're an interesting young man, Mr. Ren.

Jiro: Please call me, Jiro....

Roswaal: Of course, so beginning today...the maids will instruct you to cook, clean, and trim the edges!

Jiro: I will do my best! <bowing>
