At a large soccer field in the park, a small group was playing soccer; well to be more precise, Katelyn and her brother were playing soccer.
Kicking the ball forward, Katelyn watched as her little brother tried to kick it back, but missed and he watched as the ball soared past him.
Walking towards her little brother, a small groan left Katelyn's lips.
'Ughh, Kacey',Katelyn groaned and an underlying tone of disappointment shone in her voice.
Turning around, Kasey faced his sister and looked towards the ground, his lips pulled down into a frown.
'S-Sorry Katelyn',Kasey apologized.
With a small sigh, Katelyn placed her hand on her hip and slowly shook her head.
'Soccer tryouts are tomorrow after school',Katelyn explained,'We've had a whole month to practice for them'
Staring at the ground, Kacey sighed and shook his head, disappointed in himself that he was upsetting his sister.
'I'm just not good at this..',Kasey stated.
Suddenly feeling bad, Katelyn shook her head and tried to cheer him up.
'Oh, don't say that, Kasey, it's not that you're not good at it',Katelyn said,'You can he if you try and you have improved! You're just not good at kicking the ball'
Furrowing his eyebrows, Kasey tilted his head and frowned in confusion.
'Isn't that the whole point of soccer?',He questioned.
With her mouth gaping open and closed for a moment, Katelyn slowly nodded her head and tried to help her brother become more confident.
'Yes, but.. I-I've seen you do it!',Katelyn exclaimed.
'Yeah, like once or twice.. by accident!',Kacey retorted.
With a small groan, the beautiful bluenette looked around and her ocean eyes swept their gaze along the field, looking for her friends.
Why weren't they here yet.
'Ughh, where are they?!',Katelyn exclaimed.
Looking towards his sister, Kasey began to speak up and this caused Katelyn to turn his way as he looked down at the ground.
'Katelyn, I.. uh, I appreciate you trying to get me into doing sports and everything',Kasey admitted,'But I'm not like you! Or dad. I just don't think joining a sport is going to make me as confident as you want me to be'
With a small groan, Katelyn turned away from her brother and shook her head, causing Kasey to continue with what he was saying.
'Katelyn, I understand if you're disappointed—'
Having not heard a word he was saying, Katelyn turned his way and a confused look formed on her face, as she rose an eyebrow.
'Huh?',She questioned,'We're you saying something, Kasey?'
Seeing that his sister didn't hear a word he had said, Kasey froze for a moment and blinked in shock since she was clearly paying attention to something else.
'Ughh.. yeah, yeah',Kasey started to say,'I said—'
Seeing that his sister had pulled out her phone, a small groan of aggravation and annoyance left Kasey's lips.
'Ughh, are you even listening to me!?'
He didn't know how he was supposed to get through to her and let her know that he didn't want to play soccer if she was just going to keep ignoring him.
Turning towards her brother, an apologetic look formed on her face and she slowly shook her head, putting her phone down for a moment.
'Uh, sorry Kasey',Katelyn apologized, 'I'm waiting for your new coaches to join us'
Hearing about a new coach, a confused look formed on Kasey's face and he was wondering just who his sister had asked to help him.
'New coaches?',Kasey questioned,'What!? You didn't tell me about this!'
With a soft look on her face, Katelyn shrugged and slowly nodded her head.
'Well, yeah, 'cause if I did, you wouldn't have come to the park with me',Katelyn stated as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
And it was.
Her brother had the worst social anxiety.
'But Katelyn, you're training me!',Kasey exclaimed.
'I am, but it's not working',Katelyn stated,'Besides, your new coaches are great!'
Slightly muttering to herself so that Kasey didn't hear her, she pretty much said that she wasn't as amazing as her in physical ability.
Which could've definitely been become a challenge.
Clearing her throat, Katelyn smiled brightly at her little brother and watched as he sighed in aggravation.
'But, they're amazing at soccer! Probably better than me at that sport',Katelyn stated.
'Katelyn, I can't train with anyone else! You know I have a hard time even training in public at the park like this!'
Stepping forward, Katelyn placed a reassuring hand upon her brothers shoulder and looked into his eyes, a gentle smile on her face.
'Kasey, calm down, you'll be fine'
Shaking his head, Kasey immediately disagreed with his sister and couldn't believe that she had gone behind his back, asking someone else if they could help him.
He didn't want some strangers to help him.
'No, Katelyn! This is where I draw the line!',Kasey exclaimed,'I'm going back home! I—'
Walking away, Kasey immediately bumped into someone and almost fell to the ground if it weren't for the person catching him.
Looking up, eyes of the ocean connected with that of a winter's flame and they widened upon seeing a familiar face smiling down at him.
There in front of him, stood his sister's werewolf friend.
Her hair was in a ponytail with her curls spiraling down her back in a wave of brown and her ears and tail were neatly groomed; the fur of her ears were clearly brushed down before she got there.
She was wearing black soccer shorts that tightly hugged her curves and clung to her skin like a soft pillow, paired with that she wore a white, cap sleeved crop top with black tennis shoes with white colored lining at the bottom.
A large blush spread across his face and his heart pounded in his chest upon being so close.
"Why hello there, Kasey",Rosemary said, a bright smile on her face.
With his eyes wide, Kasey looked between her and her sister as she walked up beside them, wondering if he was alright.
'R-R-Rosemary!?',Kasey stuttered, his face burning red,'A-Aphmau?!'
Walking closer to the three, Teony had a very concerned look on her face and her chocolate brown eyes gleamed with worry.
'Are you okay?',She questioned.
Standing up straight, Kasey backed away from Rosemary's embrace and his heart pounded within his chest as his face was beet red with embarrassment.
'There you guys are!',Katelyn exclaimed.
With a nervous chuckle, Aphmau scratched the back of her head and glanced towards Teony.
'Sorry it took so long, Teony took forever trying on clothes at the mall',Aphmau stated.
With a small blush on her face, Teony looked between the twins and Katelyn, a nervous laugh leaving her lips.
'W-What?',She stuttered,'I needed to find something nice!'
With a smug look on their faces, the twins only Uh-huh'd the girl and slowly shook their heads.
Everything looked amazing on the girl, but she thought it all looked awful.
'Teony trying on new clothes?',Katelyn asked,'That's a new one. You usually know what you want'
Slowly looking to the side, a nervous look formed on her face and she knew that she couldn't trick her friends.
They knew her way too well.
'Yeah, but I wanted to try a new style'
Confused as to what was happening, Kasey looked between the group of girls and frowned slightly, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.
'Wait, what's going on here?',He questioned, looking towards his sister for some answers.
With a small smile, Katelyn gestures between the twins and watched as they smiled as well.
'Kasey, meet your new coaches',Katelyn said.
Looking towards the mocha haired girl, Kasey furrowed his eyebrows and glanced between the three girl's.
'Teony?',Kasey questioned,'Rosemary?'
Bursting out into laughter, Teony shook her head and her beautiful mocha colored curls swing through the air, some of it covering her left eye.
'Heavens no!',Teony exclaimed,'My strength is in my smarts'
With a bright smile, Rosemary nodded her head and her tail ecstatically wagged behind her as she perked up.
"Well, you got one of them right",Rosemary stated.
'Th-Th-Th-Then..',Kasey stuttered.
Seeing that Teony wasn't his second mentor, a large blush flushed across the boy's face and he turned towards Aphmau.
The booming was furious and incessant. It was his heart, which seemed to swell into a mallet and swing against his rib cage, a drum full of dirt that might burst at any moment.
'I'm also your new soccer coach, Kasey!',Aphmau exclaimed.
Hearing his heartbeat slowly accelerate, Rosemary's left ear twitched and she looked at the boy worriedly.
'Y-You!',Kasey exclaimed,'Ueghh'
It was as if his heart had suddenly stopped beating and all the blood in his body had rushed through every capsule, causing his vision to go black. He swayed for just a moment before falling to the ground.
'Oh no! He's fainted from heat exhaustion!',Teony exclaimed.
Knowing that wasn't the actual reason he had fainted, Rosemary looked down towards the boy and her tail stopped moving as she stared at him, seeing the cherry coloration that coated his cheeks.
'Nahh, he's just frustrated because he doesn't want a new coach',Katelyn stated.
Feeling her face drop, Aphmau glanced at Rosemary with a sad look on her eyes and the werewolf frowned.
Looking back towards Katelyn, Aphmau looked the saddest she's ever been and a small sigh left her lips.
'He doesn't want us to coach him?',Aphmau questioned.
With a small sigh, Katelyn slowly shook her head and a small frown tugged at her lips.
'I'm afraid not, I—'
Before Katelyn could even finish her sentence, Kasey's eyes snapped open and he hurriedly stood up, his face no longer red.
'Wait, I've changed my mind!',Kasey exclaimed,'I need a coach!'
Jumping back, a noise of shock left Katelyn's lips and she stared at her younger brother with wide eyes.
With a confused look on her face, Aphmau asked the boy if he were sure and that she didn't know what her or Rosemary could do for him.
'I'll take the coaching from you two!',Kasey exclaimed.
With a small frown, Katelyn realized that the try outs were tomorrow and she didn't know if it would work.
'I don't know, Aphmau might be right..',Katelyn said.
Looking towards his sister, a new form of determination settled within his eyes and he nodded his head, making it clear that he wanted to do this.
'I got this, Katelyn!',Kasey claimed.
'Well, if you're sure then go for it',Katelyn said, before looking towards the twins,'Are you two sure that you've got this?'
With large smiles on their faces, the twins reassured the blue-haired beauty that they had everything under control.
'Perfect!',Katelyn gushed,'Then Teony and I will leave you guys to it. We'll be sitting on the bench over there if you need us. Now Teony, what's with the sudden wardrobe change?'
Laughing nervously, Teony began to walk away with Katelyn close behind her and told the bluenette that since it was a new year and all, that's why she had changed her look.
But she was lying since her heartbeat accelerated.
Turning towards the boy, the twins smiled brightly and gave him a small burst of confidence.
'Alright Kasey!',Aphmau exclaimed,'Are you ready for our coaching?'
With a sharp nod, a look of determination settled on Kasey's face and he smiled at the girls, his eyes glistening.
'Ready!'
🐾
Kasey had tried to kick the ball into the goal and sadly, the ball didn't get very far.
And so, they all decided that it was best for Rosemary to show him how to kick the ball and Aphmau was standing in the goal, while Kasey watched.
'Alright Rose, give it all you've got!'
Taking in a deep breath, neither the three behind her or Rosemary noticed as her eyes glowed an electric blue for a moment and running forward, the beta kicked the ball as hard as she could.
Suddenly, the ball was sent hurling towards the net and seeing it coming at her full speed, Aphmau let out a shriek of fear and dove to the side, the soccer ball soaring past her with a harsh sound as it ripped through the air, tearing through the netting of the goal as if it were paper.
Shock filled everyone's veins; even Rosemary's, as the ball hit against a tree and fell to the ground, rolling to a stop.
A drop of sweat fell down the side of the beta's forehead, but hearing cheers from her friends and her sister, she slowly calmed down, turning towards them with a smile.
'And that's how you play soccer!',Katelyn exclaimed.
Running to get the ball, Aphmau brought it back and gently kicked it towards Kasey, causing it to hit his leg with a gentle thump.
'Woahh.. what was that?',Kasey questioned, looking towards Rosemary.
With wide eyes, Rosemary's lips parted and a small drop of sweat slowly trailed down the side of her cheek.
What had happened wasn't on purpose, she didn't even have a name for it.
'That was her special shot, but she doesn't have a name for it yet',Aphmau stated, helping her sister out a bit,'So I decided to call it the Sublimely Brilliant Majestic Mary Shot Mark Two!'
Raising his eyebrows, Kasey tried to remember the name as Aphmau said it as quickly as she could and he felt a small smile twitch at his lips.
'That's an interesting name..'
With a small laugh, Aphmau told the boy that it was his turn and Kasey took a deep breath.
Soon, the two got to work with helping Kasey become better at soccer.
🐾
As the two were walking home, Aphmau suddenly stopped and pulled out her phone, causing Rosemary to come to a halting stop.
Gesturing for her sister to come closer, Aphmau watched as Rosemary came to her side and peered down at her phone.
Aaron.
Hey, I'm on my way home! Would you be free to talk tonight?
Hey! You know I would love to! But, I have this group project I'm working on and we're planning on staying in the library until it gets done, we may be here until midnight.
With a small frown on her face, Aphmau let out a small sigh and began to text him back.
Wow, college sounds brutal.. it's only been a month and you've had so much homework!
Yeah, and it's been all group projects.. I have a hard time being social so this has been a major stress
Knowing how he felt, Rosemary wished that she could jump through the phone and give her alpha— her brother-like figure, a hug and knowing that she couldn't, caused her to let out a small huff.
No worries! How about we try to call tomorrow? I have so much I want to update you on!
Sounds good! Talk to you tomorrow then! Hope you have a great night—
Stopping where she was reading when she saw the red heart Aaron had sent, a small chuckle left Rosemary's lips at the irony and she slowly shook her head.
Red was Aaron's favorite color.
Continuing to walk home, Aphmau grabbed Rosemary's hand and the two rushed home, trying to get there before it was too dark.
🐾
Just as Rosemary was about to get under the covers, the ping of a notification filled her room and her left ear twitched at the sound, causing her to look at her phone in confusion.
Who would text her this late at night?
Picking up her phone, Rosemary unlocked it and seeing that she had a message, she clicked on it and it brought her to a message from an unknown number.
Hey Rose!
Being beyond confused, Rosemary began to wonder just who this was that was texting her and slowly, she began to text back.
Who is this?
Seeing the small bubble that appeared, which meant that the person was typing, Rosemary patiently waited and wondered who it was.
Many possibilities ran through her head.
It's me, Daniel!
Daniel?
Confused as to how he had gotten her number, Rosemary furrowed her eyebrows and tilted her head.
Oh, um, hey! But, Daniel.. how'd you get my number?
Seeing the small texting bubble pop up once more, Rosemary waited for a moment and gently tapped her nails against the back of her phone.
Finally, the message was sent and a small sigh left her lips at what was there and she slowly shook her head.
Oh, Dottie gave it to me!
She should've known.
Of course Dottie would've given him her number. She had seen that they were getting along and knowing Dottie, she most likely thought they were cute.
Just wait until she saw her tomorrow.
Seeing another notification pop up, Rosemary clicked on it and seeing that it was a message from Dottie, a low growl left her lips.
You're welcome ;3
Tightening her grip on her phone, Rosemary's eyes narrowed in on the message and slowly, she began to calm down as her grip loosened and a small sigh left her lips.
She supposed that it wasn't the worst thing in the world. Her and Daniel had become friends, so it would make sense for them to have each other's numbers.
But she would've preferred giving it to him herself.
The two had talked for a bit, discussing random things and even got to know each other better; while Rosemary changed his name in her phone to know who it was.
Daniel ✨
The two had found out quite a bit about one another; he had had found out that her favorite color was violet and he actually liked the color pink; since it was a pretty color.
Which she found adorable.
They both loved chasing Meif'wa; except her friend Kawaii~Chan, his favorite sport was soccer and her's was track; but he only liked watching it while she actually participated in it.
And they both felt calmer when it was night; when it was so dark that the stars were the only thing that lit up the sky in a beautiful glow.
That night, the two began to grow closer and little did they know, that in the future; these memories would be their favorites.
