暗い路地

Cars passed with a hissing noise as the rain poured down. The highway jerked through the suburb nuzzled by railways in a deathly grip.

The small sidewalk turned into a dark alley, not a single soul to be seen. A plaid, grey dress underneath a black coat, both drenched in water. Small hands, that held errands flat against the chest. Short breaths escaped her lips as she stared at the alley. Pulling out her phone, she dialed a number.

“Yes?” Gruff, tense voice. She could imagine him sitting in the main apartment, wearing a suit. Long fingers, like the ones of a piano player, holding the phone while waiting for her to show up. “I'm home in ten.” A short silence followed, then: “Where are you?” The rain got heavier. “Near the railways.” She could hear him breathing. “Be careful. If you ain't home in ten, Junhui and me are coming.” With that, he hung up. No 'I love you'. She didn't expect it. Donghyuck's and hers relationship didn't need constant body contact. Sometimes, they could be found just laying next to each other, enjoying the presence of each other. It was his way of telling her to stay safe. That he loved her. They didn't need to say it constantly.

Maybe it was dangerous, if she would go alone after the incident at the club yesterday. She couldn't help herself. The independence, when she worked as a nurse helped her to breathe. To keep her mind of their real business.

With one last longing look at the yellow lights she stepped into the dark alley. The girl listened carefully. Not just to the song of the rain but also to other sounds. If they would grew closer she'd make a run for it.

Wang Chialing knew that someone was watching her. Someone was watching every step she took. And it frightened her. Suddenly, her whole body froze. It reminded her of that dreadful night three years ago where her brother and his goons had saved her just in time.

Eyes watering, she fastened her steps until gunshots rang through the night. It wasn't one of theirs, of that she was certain. Otherwise, Donghyuck would have picked her up after her shift. She was the only one, who tried to maintain a normal life.

She pulled her phone out while frankly looking around. The shots might be fired a few streets down but she wasn't certain.
A sharp pain surged through her shoulder, another one soon following. It sent her to her knees. The legs were violently shaking as pain ate her alive. She could barely walk so she tried to pull herself into safety.

Two hands pulled her roughly up, hard, unforgiving, unfamiliar. A scream rippled past her lips as fingers dug into her injured shoulder. The following blow left her in the stunned moment of shock. Lights danced in front of her eyes and the world went out of focus. “Did she see your face?” Male, sharp like a bullet. “No, what should we do?” “We can't kill a civilian, knock her out and beat her up.”

Again, she was hit. There was nothing but hard aching white lights. Then there was darkness with red. And then, there was nothing bright, just darkness and a falling as of great trees.

“You're overprotective” the female voice hissed as she followed the males through the rain. The first male turned, eyes ablaze. He had hard features, hair dyed red. In his eyes, something dark was. The other male wore a suit, sharp cheekbones while checking his gun. The woman with raven hair and red coated lips was bored.

“Fifteen minutes passed and some idiots thought it was a wise idea to fire in our city!” the redhead nearly yelled, accent hard. “Donghyuck, Harin, cut it!” Wang Junhui's voice was sharp, as the second in command scanned the dark alley ahead of him.

He didn't need to say more. They immediately shut up, knowing, that they could get a rant from him. And deep down, worry blossomed in his heart. What if something had happened to his baby sister? She was the last of his family members.

A soft groan alerted them and they shared a glance. All three carefully entered the alley, which was only illuminated by moonlight. He felt his heart breaking as he saw the body. She had pulled herself a few metres before her body gave up.

Face already swollen and turning lilac, blood was splattered over her coat like a pattern. “Gē ge” the voice whimpered in Mandarin. His walls broke at that. Harin was already on her way to the girl, footsteps rushed just as her limp frame collapsed. Harin caught her, staring at the closed eyes and the blood.

“Call Bora or Kangdae, they're somewhere near here” she spat at the two males. Junhui didn't listen neither did Donghyuck. It was Donghyuck who ripped his girlfriend from Harin's grip leaving the girl to call the others. Junhui stood there, blood boiling. Whoever thought, that it was a wise idea to attack one of theirs , was dumb.

Especially when it came to the youngest.
Even more when she was the sister of Junhui and girlfriend of Donghyuck, the two roughest members. They had no problem with getting blood on their hands.

He bent down, laying a finger against her neck. Pulse weak, but fast beating. No serious injuries from what he could tell. His eyes softened as he noticed Donghyuck's anger. He could already read the thoughts in the man's eye.

Tires screeched and a black SUV came to a halt. Donghyuck lifted her up, body fragile in his arms. Only once they were in the car, Harin started to treat the wound while Bora assisted. The two males were to enraged as well as the driver of the SUV.

Junhui grabbed her hand, holding it tight.
His eyes darkened as he and Donghyuck made a silent agreement.

That male from the club was still in the cellar. Time to get some answers. Even if he wouldn't know something.

Blood was to be spilled.
