3rd Person's POV :

"I'm telling you, Noelle. This is sure the last time for him. I'm telling you,
if he comes first in class again, I'm gonna make him regret the day he was born," Freya groaned as she bumped her fist on the table, hitting it so loud that it shook and jingle under her touch.

However, the raven haired girl, who was sitting opposite her, remaimed unfazed at the noise and vibration, as she hummed softly, and kept on typing on her phone, while chewing on her chewing gum.

"Noelle!! Are you even listening?"
"Yeah?" She hummed, not even bothering to look up.
"NOELLE!!"

She finally looked up from her screen and focused at the fuming brunette sitting two feets away from her.

"Dude, this is literally the 13th time you said the exact same words today. And, in addition, you've been saying this exact same words on every single result day for the last 3 years!!" She exclaimed, blowing up the bubble she created from her chewing gum.

"Ughh!! I just hate him! It's been 3 years! 3 fucking years of him snatching my position! Who the hell told him to move here in this high school? Ever since he moved here, I lost my position!" Freya buried her face in her hands.

What would her parents say? She had failed them.....again. For the third year in a row.

Noelle, on other hand, sighed. Noelle, personally, never hated Hayden. But for her, her friend always came first, so she sided with Freya anyway.

Thr raven haired girl poked the brunette,
"Come on Freya, don't be like this. You stood second in one of the best high schools in the city. People would kill for this position." She let out a suppressed laughter, "Besides, don't forget why I dragged you in this cafeteria now."
For which a part of her was regretting then, but she decided not to mention that.

"Huh?"
"Freyaaaa! Don't tell me you have forgotten."
"No, I was just-" Her head was finally processing.

She was supposed to meet Noelle's boyfriend that afternoon.
The Edward Stephen, president of English and Harry Potter club, whom Noelle met while working in the clubs, her being the vice president. It was crazy how the love for Harry Potter brought them this close.

Edward, who was Noelle's boyfriend, and who was also supposed to be Hayden Kaczynski's best friend.

Oh no!

There must had been a clear impression of reluctance on her face, because a few seconds later, she found Noelle sighing.

"No, don't say no. Everyone met him already! Nora, Myrah, Aurora,Mattie, Fiona and her boyfriend, James, everyone! Even Nora's boyfriend met him, and he goes to W&M Uni!"

Okay, so if Kim met him despite going to William & Mary University, then Noelle must had been really serious.

"And you haven't met him, even though you guys are classmates! Why? Because for the last 2 months you had been preparing for exams, then the exam days passed and you told me you'd meet him on the result day. You promised, Freya!" Noelle threw Freya her "special puppy dog eyes nobody can resist".

Freya was about to reply something like, "Don't give me those eyes, I'm not Edward, they won't work for me," but she stopped herself from saying so.

Noelle was her best friend, and despite how much she hated Hayden, and Edward too for always hanging out with him, she would give him a chance.

"Hey, of course I'll meet him today. Where is he, anyway?"

Noelle grinned from ear to ear.
"Club works, but he'll be here in a few minutes."

Freya leaned backwards on her chair, chewing on her bottom lip.
What was the worst thing that could happen, anyway?
It was not like Edward would bring Hayden there, right?

Ironically enough, to answer Freya's question, Edward entered the cafeteria at the very same second. Noelle's face lit up like a thousand watt light bulb, while Freya's jaw clenched as she saw Hayden, following Edward towards the cafeteria.

What a lovely way to spend the afternoon!

"Hey babe," Edward kissed on top of Noelle's forehead, before sitting next to her and finally focusing on the brunette sitting in front of him.

"And you must be Freya. Noelle talked a lot about you."
"Only good things, I hope." She laughed softly.
"Of course not! Is there anything good about you?" Noelle joked.

"Sorry to interrupt, but can I take your orders?" An waitress asked.
"A chocolate muffin and cuppchino." Noelle said immediately.
"Same as her." Edward nodded.
"A coffee & a blueberry muffin." Hayden said.

"What about you?"
"I don't want anything."
"Treat's on me." Hayden met Freya's eyes, for the first time since he came.

"Really, why?" Noelle asked.
"Because he stood first again." Edward said in a matter of fact tone, throwing his arm around Hayden's shoulder.
"Oh right! Congratulations Hayden!" Noelle chirped.

"A black coffee, then." Freya told the waitress, fist clenched from anger. Was her best friend seriously congratulating her enemy?!

"Only that?" Hayden asked.
"Yeah, I thought I might take something bitter like you when treat's on you."
"Oh, thanks for clearing. Because if you didn’t, I would've thought you take coffee that bitter to speak this bitter stuff. How can someone manage to speak like you do, otherwise?"

The middle aged woman sitting across their table looked at the group, well, Freya and Hayden to be exact, as Hayden's voice rose a bit high at the end.

"Lower your voice, someone from school might see us and actually think we're friends. That would be super embarrassing." Freya leaned forward and mumbled, audible enough for Hayden to hear.

"Ugh. Seriously, who do you even think you are?"
"I don't know - maybe someone better than you?"
"Yeah right. That's why you're so jealous of me."

"Stop! Both of you. I brought you guys here to be friends with each other, to get to know each other, not to quarrel like immature people!" Noelle sighed, "You know what, I'll go home right now. Ed, can you drop me home?"
"Yeah, sure."

Casting one last look at Freya, Noelle got up. Guilt took over Freya as she realized she had saddened her best friend.

The day was already ruined, and she hadn't even reached home yet......
