"You will be assigned a partner."

God, those were the worst words Raven could ever hear.

She just sat in her seat and read a book, trying to hide herself from her current position. Maybe if the teacher couldn't see her, she wouldn't be assigned a partner. The teacher glazed over her, but realized she had no partner.

"Raven Roth with...." The teacher's eyes glanced over her clipboard, "Garfield Logan."

All eyes turned to Garfield. He jumped out of his chair.

"Miss, but why?" He whined, "Do I have to work with her?"

Raven stuck up the finger at him. He saw, but didn't act on the gesture.

"I'm sorry, Garfield. This project counts for thirty percent of your grade." The teacher said

"It's only a get to know you thing!" He countered

"Yes, but the principal feels that getting to know other peers you would normally not be associated with could lower the bullying rate in this school."

He threw himself into his seat, "This sucks!"

"You're not the only one being affected by this." Raven glared at him, "Does it look like I want to work with you?"

"Touche." He said simply

"That's all the partners. Now, this project, as I said, counts for thirty percent of your grade. It's due at the end of the school year, with advance time." The teacher said

A student raised her hand, "What's the latest we can turn it in?"

"Good question. I will accept it next year, but only if you include things about your summer vacation." The bell rang. "Go have your lunch." She dismissed

Raven gathered her things, lagging behind everyone a little. She was the last person leaving the classroom again.

But who cared? She figured

She picked up her things and exited towards the door.

"Raven, I have a suggestion for you." The teacher called

She craned her head backwards in irritation and turned to her, "Yes?"

"Spend some time with Garfield. I advise you to sit at his table during lunch. I know you don't get along with him very much, or anybody, for that matter. But, the project is thirty percent."

She left without saying anything and sat in her normal spot in the cafeteria; the smallest table placed in the corner of the room.

A blonde boy approached her, "Wanna sit with me?" He asked and put his hands in his pockets

"Garfield, I assume the teacher made you do this."

He chuckled, "Maybe."

"I knew that. I don't want to sit at that damn table, leave me alone."

He shrugged, "Fine."

Raven bit into an apple and turned a page of her book.

A tray clanked down next to her and she saw Garfield looking down at her book.

"Didn't I tell you I didn't want to sit with you?" She raised an eyebrow, keeping her eyes glued to the words of her book.

"No. You said you didn't want to sit at my table." He smirked

She slammed her book shut, "You obviously don't want to be my friend."

"You heard the teacher; this project is thirty percent of our grade."

She sighed, "I don't want to get to know you. I'm going to write down what you need to know about me and you're going to do the project. Understood?"

"That's very unfair, Rae."

"First thing you're going to have to know about me; never call me Rae."

Two weeks later, Garfield approached Raven. He had been doing the entire thing on his own, and he needed help.

"Rae, I mean, Raven. Can you come over to my house?" He said as he caught up to Raven

She raised an eyebrow, "We discussed this."

"No! I have to write about your preferences and I honestly don't know about them."

"I refuse to visit your house, Garfield."

"What! Why?"

"Because, I don't want to be associated with you."

"Why not?"

"Because I don't want any friends, I don't want a boyfriend, and I don't want to get attached to anybody here."

He groaned, "Rae, it's thirty percent!"

"Then make some stuff up about me!"

He thought about it for a bit, "I will, thanks!" He ran off

She sighed and rolled her eyes. Walking down the halls alone, as usual, she reached her locker and began putting her things inside her bag.

"Do you have a crush on Garfield?" A blonde girl asked and leaned her shoulder against the wall in front of Raven

"I would never." She answered, "Relationships are pointless."

The girl chuckled, "Garfield's my boyfriend."

She finished packing up and slung her backpack around her shoulder, "I honestly don't give a fuck."

The girl widened her eyes, "I'm Terra."

"I totally wanted to know." Raven stated sarcastically and turned around, ready to leave

Terra caught up with her, "What's your name?"

"I don't want to be your friend. I don't want to be anybody's friend. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be on my way."

Terra stood in her spot, taken aback by Raven's attitude.

Raven smirked, knowing she left Terra without words and continued on her way.

At home was often no better than school. She was alone most of the time; her mother being dead, her father being away in business trips frequently.

She prepared herself a meal. Of course, she was very wealthy and had a couple servants to do that for her. Her father ran a business that controlled most of the city

But they'll never know how evil he really is

He was abusive. Whenever he got angry, he let his anger out on her. It's how her mother died. She tried to stand up for her, but to Trigon, she was just another obstacle.

She took a bite of her fruit salad and swallowed the fruits along with her tears. She forgot she was alone and choked down her tears, something she often did around her father.

Taking another bite, she grabbed the remote and changed the television show.

Ding

The phone beside her rang with a text message.

She unlocked her phone and checked who it was from. An Instagram DM. Of course.

Iamnotacat: When is your birthday?

Raven_Roth: Who is this?

Iamnotacat: Garfield

Raven_Roth: How did you get my Instagram?

Iamnotacat: School directory

Raven_Roth: Why do you need my birthday?

Iamnotacat: Project

Raven_Roth: Make one up

Iamnotacat: I can't. The teacher's going to check on it through the school records

Raven_Roth: February 12th

She didn't wait for him to respond and shut off her phone.

Revealed.

She revealed a part of herself to somebody.

It didn't matter what it was, he still knew it.

What if he acted on her birthday? What if he gave her a present? What if he threw her a party?

I never should've said anything.

But it was still thirty percent. She had to or she could fail junior year.

What else would she need to reveal?
