Delyse Keire wasn't dumb.
She didn't think she was, anyway. She was intelligent enough to understand the basics of Riemannian Geometry and was capable of reciting the whole 1670 version of Fermat's Last Theorem of the top of her head. She knew she was quite intelligent for her age category, yet she couldn't understand one simple thing.
Why the hell was her Hobo-teacher-guy-thing staring at her relentlessly like she was some sort of Pandora's Box?
Ever since he'd announced to the whole class of their unpleasant predicament, he'd taken the last four uncomfortable minutes of the tests to glance at her from across the field, thinking that she was too dumb to not see it. It was hella weird, and Delyse didn't like it. He was no pedophile, for sure, but she still didn't feel too secure. No-one was allowed to analyze her like that or they had hell to pay--
"Ochaco Uraraka, 7.15 seconds."
There was a content sigh from the girl before smiling brightly over her shoulder at her teacher. Delyse hummed slightly in thought. She was intrigued. Ochaco Uraraka, she'd seen that name as well. She was the one who'd apparently gotten trapped under some rubble at the entrance exam and nearly got crushed by robots if it was not for some weirdo broccoli with a strength quirk. She looked like a pretty bubbly person, but you could see that Ochaco was giving it everything she got despite her less-than-suitable quirk. Delyse considered her as a future close friend to make.
"Delyse Keire and Jirou Kyoka, please come forward and stand behind the white line."
Okay, so it was her turn now. All she really needed to do was focus the energy into the balls of her feet and she should be fine. She didn't really want to stand out too much in the first couple weeks of school, so she'd make sure to be somewhere in the top ten but not in the top five. She smiled to herself, now all she needed to do was tell Eijirou and Mina her plan-
Where were they, anyway? She looked around the area to see if they were close but froze the moment she saw them conversing with the dumb-blonde-Pikachu-fuckhead-charger-thing. Had they just left her there to go talk to someone else? There was a sharp sting in her chest. Of course, she was fine with them going off to make friends, but she would've liked it if they told her first! Now she felt like a third wheel...
"Umm, you're Keire right? Mr Aizawa's just called you to the front."
Startled, Delyse turned to look at the cause of the abrupt noise. The boy who she'd seen earlier by himself was staring at her, arms folded over protectively over his chest.
"Ah, thank you..."
The boy nodded in acknowledgement. "Fumikage Tokoyami."
"Tokoyami, huh? Well, you can just call me Delyse. Keire sounds too weird for my taste."
He nodded again and watched her as she slinked off towards Aizawa. There was something about her that bugged him- not in a completely bad way, of course, he could tell she meant absolutely so harm whatsoever. But Tokoyami prided himself in being able to measure how much a person is to be trusted, yet he couldn't pinpoint anything about the girl except the fact that Japanese wasn't her first language. He scratched his beak.
'What a Mad Banquet of Darkness.'

The girl she was running against was standing there, stretching her legs in preparation. Delyse waved at her and received a friendly nod in return.
"My names Delyse Keire, but you can call me Delyse!"
"Jirou Kyoka. Likewise, you can call me Jirou."
They smiled at each other and bowed in sportsmanship
Jirou turned away from the girl and stuffed her earphone backs into the ground. Delyse smiled and began to concentrate on a particular spot on each of her feet. A steady flow of pulsing energy rushed to her feet like a raging waterfall.
"On your marks-"
A bright silverish blue glow surrounded her, and she got ready to sprint for her life.
"- Get set...
... Go."
"4.02 Seconds."
Delyse whistled. That was, like, Two. something-she-didn't-really-give-a-fuck seconds more than her school record! This would be groundbreaking if she gave bullshit about it! Now all she had to do was ask Jirou about something. She turned towards her.
"Hey, Kyo-"
"It's Jirou."
"-ka, I know we only met just a second ago, but you sound pretty cool! Maybe we could be friends, only if you want to of course! I'm not forcing you to do anything out of your willing to, of course."
She smiled. "Well, I'm flattered you want to be my friend so much."
"Look, ma-" She did a double-take. "Wait, you really want to?!"
"Uhh, I guess?" Her jaw dropped.
"Aww man, I have an older half-sibling- she's like, 15 so it's not illegal or shit - and like I'd be glad to set you guys up if you're interested! I always wanted another sibling-"
Her face turned crimson and she covered it, embarrassed as hell. "If you w-want to be my f-friend, just ask! You don't need to s-set me up with your s-sister!"
She pumped her fist. "Okay! So no sister-in-law who looks cool, but a classmate who looks cool? Kudos to myself for having great taste in friends!"
She sweatdropped. "Yeah, umm, okay. Whatever."
Alright, this was gonna be fun! Now she just had to convince Birdy ( Was it Tokoyami? Birdy sounds better though, so she'll stick to that ) to chicken dance-

"Author, You're a horrible person. I hope you get Sasu-choked."
Aizawa sighed. First, a guy who was practically killed his arm 24/7, a french dude who couldn't stop giving him cancer, then a girl who spoke to thin air? He should've become a bed-specialist like his dad told him to.
"Okay, time for the results."
The whole class went silent in desperate anticipation, the huge contrast between this and before made Aizawa practically choke in relief. To them, this was one of the biggest moments in their lives so far, their whole future hanging in the balance...
"Also, I was lying about expelling someone."
... ?!?
Delyse clutched her heart and fell into the arms of her new bird friend, who was practically trembling at the weight and taken aback by her familiarity. "I'm Jungshooketh."
Jirou gasped, "You did not just say that."
"Oh but I just did."
Tokoyami sighed, "Both of you, shut up."
"What're you gonna do? peck me?"
"Try me- "
"Guys!" Jirou smiled and grabbed them by their ears. By now, she was too tired to mention the fact that the whole class was staring at them like they were aliens. "We all passed!"
They looked at the scoreboard, faces filled with shock. Tokoyami was fifth, Jirou was seventeenth, and Delyse was seventh. All good scores!
This was it.
One step closer to her goal and future...
... but why did it feel so wrong?
