adeline's childhood was not too unlike the average environment for a child - her family was very involved in each other's lives. every event, menial or important, was spent at a gathering filled with laughter, love and familial bonding. adeline remained an only child, though she had plenty of younger cousins to share her time with. most of all, however, adeline always had a very close relationship with both of her grandparents. every bit of free time would be spent at their farmhouse, whether she be helping her grandma in the kitchen, or hauling a pail of slop out to the pigpen to help her grandpa with nightly feedings. she loved every single second of these experiences.

adeline's life took an unexpected turn for the worst when she was 13 years old. she had been left within the care of her grandparents, as per usual, while her parents went on an anniversary trip overseas. the news of her parents' untimely death was delivered on one breezy summer evening, by two solemn officers. their plane's engine had failed, and there had been a fatal crash. adeline's grandmother was inconsolable - adeline, however, shut down then and there. she didn't cry, not for the first few days, anyway. she simply locked herself away in her bedroom, refused most meals, and didn't leave the house very much at all. this changed, clearly and fortunately, but it did take awhile of extensive therapy.

now, adeline spends her days working. for the most part, anyway. she still visits her grandparents quite frequently now that they're older, and she continues to help out on the farm - though, it's been downsized to mostly chickens, a few cows, and a pair of old horses simply for the fact that her grandpa can't necessarily manage a lot of livestock anymore in his older age. she also frequently goes out to bars, clubs, and anywhere with alcohol, really, simply to loosen up and forget about her problems - past and present.

marissa whitehead was born in brockton, massachusetts, and was raised by a single mother when her father died before she was even born. marissa had a good childhood, though there were times when her and her mother would argue back and forth for days on end. marissa was never one to believe in "love at first sight" - until she met adeline's future father on a study-abroad coarse in norway. the two stayed in contact, even when marissa returned to america, and eventually married and made a home together when they reached their early twenties, and marissa was able to return to norway. eventually, though, they returned to america so that adeline would have the rest of her family in her life.
