[OVERFLOWING]

2

[Name] and Shoto sat down panting both exhausted, both their fathers had been forcing them to train like this for the past year and if they weren't close enough to be friends it would have been almost the same as torture. And yet it wasn't it confused them both that they were even close at all, considering the situation it most definitely shouldn't have been that easy for them to just click. [Name], before meeting Shoto, was constantly bullied, referred to as quirkless, publically humiliated and was seen as a charity case just because she couldn't easily use her quirk. [Name] would've still been crying all alone if it weren't for the other tortured child and yet the other never knew anything about the other's personal torment. "Sho~kun" [Name] paused to pant "You're getting slower with... your fire and... you're using your ice a lot" [Name] fell onto her back smiling and looking over to her friend who was currently staring at her concerned. He quickly surrounds her with as much ice as he could, which due to the young Todoroki being extremely tired and physically strained wasn't much, but [Name] was still glad for the quick relief from the heat.

"[Name] you need to stop going all out physically and use your quirk more." Shoto deadpanned, Shoto had seen her get like this so many times before and it was becoming a horrible habit. It was also concerning that she always was more exhausted and determined to become like this whenever she had school, it became a noticeable trigger and Shoto was getting on edge, he wanted to know why, and yet he didn't. [Name] gave him a soft glare,

"Shoto, you remember what happened last time!" she huffed turning away from him. It was a difficult match between them and [Name] had to constantly use her quirk to extinguish the fire that was constantly lit around her and to shatter any ice that came near her, and after a few minutes, she couldn't even whisper. While she was too distracted trying to get her voice back, Shouto had managed to freeze her to the ground and flick her on the nose. If she could've screamed at Shouto she would've, the two spent the rest of the day trying to figure out anything to fix it. The two children raced around the house desperate not to be found out for their mistake. As payback [Name] forced Shoto to learn sign language with her in case it ever happened again. Shoto smiled thinking back on it, just another time something went horribly wrong for the pair and yet they still somehow found it fun.

"Yes I remember what happened, [n/n], it just means you need to balance it out. Nothing else, just because your quirk has a weakness doesn't mean you just stop using it!" he retorted bringing up a valid point, causing [Name] to roll back onto her back and sighed in defeat. It was always to easy to get [Name] to side with you over herself but Shoto was to used to it to find it as something bad. "Are you well enough to spar again?" He sighed, which instantly got [Name]'s attention.

"Really! Normally you would've made me stop!" [Name] smiled, instantly jumping up and got into a fighting stance. Shoto instantly felt regret, what if he worked himself too hard, what if [Name] worked herself too hard, this could go horribly known and he knew it but he had known [Name] long enough that even he couldn't resist [Name]'s puppy dog eyes. He reluctantly went into a fighting stance as [Name] began to count down. "Three, two, one, fight!" she chirped charging at him. Shoto stepped back a few steps and stomped his foot down sending a sheet of ice out from underneath his small foot. [Name] jumped and tried to kick him in the chest, Shoto barely dodged stumbling to the right as [Name] skidded past him. [Name] chose to attack while Shoto was still trying to stabilize himself, she quickly jumped up aim herself at the boy and screamed at him. Shoto was once again sent backwards only staying upright as he froze his feet to the ground. [Name] stumbled down huffing clearly using too much energy but was reluctant to give up already so she prepared herself for the blow that Shoto was charging at her with, but [Name] was too tired to stay fully defended. [Name] was sent flying backwards, by an off chance Shoto had hit [Name]'s weak spot, and she had crumpled up into a ball at the other side of the yard, crying tears of agony. Shoto rushed over to her to see something more concerning than his weeping crumpled friend, was the fact that her tears began floating away from her eyes and forming into a large water bubble.

"[N-Name] are you ok?" he choked in awe of the new display of a quirk of them never thought she had. Shoto gently nudged her receiving another cry of pain, trying to make the girl aware of her newfound quirk. Shoto soon began to hear two pairs of heavy, thudding footsteps coming towards them, Shoto began to panic, what would [Name]'s father think of what's going on, what will father do to me over what I've done to [Name]? [Name] shakily wiped away any of the tears that were still on her face, and looked up to the bubble floating above her. It slowly floated down to the girl as she attempted to reach for it. Shoto, even though concerned for his possibly injured friend, was still happy to see that she had another quirk. With a small motion of [Name]'s hand, the water bubble split in two and she began to make them circle around each other causing her to become ecstatic.

"Shoto! I've got two quirks just like you!" they both smiled sitting up, doing nothing but messing around with [Name]'s new quirk. That is until the paper door was slid open and [Name]'s father and Enji stepped out both in shock of the display. When [Name] and her father finally locked eyes, the water dropped soaking both her and Shoto.

"What the HELL

****

[Name]'s small hand was crushed underneath the grip of her father, a small fire only barely contained inside his fist. [Name] wanted to cry or scream but she couldn't, she felt so trapped as they walked into their house. [Name] had been so used to the loving warmth that the searing anger that came from her father made everything feel so cold. When her tiny arm was released she stumbled backwards most of her weight previously being carried by her father. Her mother stood humming gently in the kitchen, door open enough to see in. Her father turned slightly a facade of care plastered poorly against his rage-filled features, "[Name] sweetheart can you please go upstairs." his voice was a hushed whisper as he stepped towards the doorway. With a shaky nod, she staggered away, her body collapsing just around the corner, her view of the kitchen slightly skewed but it was still enough.

Her father stood separated from her mother by the food piled island. Her mother was happy in a way that contrasted her father in horrifying ways, a smile spread across her face with her dark hair tied up as she continued to work on a pot of soup. She was slightly shocked as she turned to see her husband looming over her. "Kaito you scared me! Why are you home so early, I thought you said you'd be taking [Name] out for lunch." Her mother laughed. Her father tensed his hands balling into fists.

"I would have but something came up." his voice could barely hide the growl beneath it as small flames grew around his knuckles as he attempted to remain civil.

"Is everything ok, did [Name] get hurt?" concern and worry wracked her voice.

"She is perfectly fine." he hissed "No I was wondering what quirks you're family has." All attempts at maintaining a civil conversation had been shattered. Her mother paled and quickly turned back to the boiling pot of soup.

"J-just the same as I do! Vocal based quirks and that's it." her mother murmured, her focus solely directed on the pot.

"Then why exactly does she have a water quirk." The room fell silent as her mother froze.

"Kaito- I- I just-"

"No, you didn't just do anything, you ruined this. You ruined our chances! What will the public think once everything get's out, you've ruined everything!"

"I- I can explain Kaito just give me a moment."

"Explain what?! That I've been raising a bastard, that you've had an affair that could ruin my career, that this life wasn't good enough for you?!"

"Yes actually! Because Kaito look what this had done, being a hero ruined our lives but you have no right to minimalize our daughter from this-"

"She's not our daughter she's your's." Her father's voice was low as he left only stopping to turn to her. "Talk to me when you're being reasonable." and he left. Her mother walked out moments later to see [Name] curled up against the wall. Her mother crouched down and gave her a soft smile.

"[Name], sweetie I was wondering if you could pack the bags I got you with all your favourite things. We're going to go visit Uncle Kokichi tomorrow, so I'll be picking you up a little early alright!" Her mother's voice was uneasy but coated in enough sugar to keep [Name]'s frightened mind at ease. "I'll be leaving early tonight so we can get everything ready for you, so don't be scared if you don't see Mommy in the morning." [Name] gave a small nod as she was lifted up "Run along to bed now, you must be tired. Remember I'll be there."

*****

She never was and she never came back. Her father was disgusted but he still tried to love her until it all got too much.  Her father would drink and yell but by then she knew how to make herself scarce when she heard the clicking of glass bottles or metallic clangs of cans. [Name] wanted to cry out, to fight against it to not be isolated. But they were her father's rules, she wasn't allowed out anymore let alone be near Shoto and anytime she was required to train she couldn't stop unless she could no longer move. It was torture and [Name] had had enough. Staring down at the [F/C] bag, decorated with buttons and pins she couldn't help but want to cry, it was the one her mother gave her but it was the only one left. So with what little determination she had left, [Name] ran through her front door and into the night.

[Name] was panting by the time she managed to knock on the door of the traditional Japanese house while trying not to pass out on the deck. I was greeted by a familiar red and white-haired female. "Hi... Fuyumi" I panted, she gave me a small, shocked smile and welcomed me inside.

"[Name] it's been a while and I have to ask are you ok?"

"I'm fine enough Fuyumi, I'm just a little beat up, dad's not been the best" me even mentioning those words sent a pang of pity into Fuyumi's heart. "I really came because I wanted to see Shoto"

"Oh-" she paused to think over her words "Well Shoto is a little sick... at the moment but I'm free to talk for a bit so would you like some tea?" sick huh, well I might as well see him anyways, getting sick wouldn't be the worst of today as Fuyumi left to make the tea without an answer from [Name] she snuck over to Shoto's room only to realise it was locked. She gently knocked a few times with no answer before she became desperate. She wanted to see him, it had been so long, she was desperate. So she forced the lock open as gently as possible.

"Hey, Shoto I know this is rude but I was despr-"

"leave"

"But Shot-" [Name] spotted him in a corner and began to walk towards him

"Leave" [Name] was crouching in front of him

"Pleas-" Shoto looked up as [Name] attempted to touch him and instinctually burned her arm and a part of her lower face. [Name] shot backwards already starting to cry as she clutched herself staring at the only person she ever considered a friend, or should she now say ex-friend as it was clear she wasn't wanted or needed. She stopped staring when her watery eyes focused on his left cheek, the clear scar signalled why he had such a harsh reaction. [Name] choked out a "Sorry" in between her sobs before grabbing her things and running back out onto the streets not know where to run or where to go but she still ran, tears flooding down her face.
