[ Chapter Thirteen—fuckedy fuck ]
————————
I am standing in a field of daisies and the sun is shining brightly. I smile while basking in the blinding warmth of the sun. Suddenly, there is a hiss behind me that has me furrowing my brows and turning around.
I come face-to-face with a beautiful man who has such pale skin that it twinkles in the broad daylight. However, the beauty is masked by blood which soaks through his pristine white suit and drips onto the daises below—tainting them with red that should only belong on a rose.
His fair hair drips with the blood of the innocent, a sinister smile etched onto his scarlet lips. His eyes, which match the vermillion all over him, focus on me.
"My love," Caius whispers in such an evil tone it has me stumbling back, "come to me!"
His voice turns into a hiss—like a snake—and his hand reaches out for me, blood dripping from his fingers tips. I reel back screaming, my own loud wailing causing the scene around me to shatter like a million tiny glass pieces.
The dream ends abruptly and suddenly I am jumping awake while breathing heavily as though there is not enough air left in the room. Clutching a hand to my chest, I calmed down while looking around the room wildly.
Felix and Demetri had moved swiftly in taking me to the room earlier, both of them easily managing my struggling despite my strength. They dragged me to a room in what appeared to be the end of the East Wing of the castle and not-so-gently threw me inside before closing and locking the door.
The room was extremely nice and bigger than anything I was used to. A large bed that was no-doubt King-sized sat against the wall in the middle of the room, a small reading area just next to it along with a few dressers and desks scattered about. There was a fireplace and bookshelf filled with books that I took note of as well. A large rug went over the entire length of the room covering the cold stone floor that hid beneath, a chandelier that proved to be the only source of light for the room just above it.
The chandelier was large, but it did not provide the best lighting making it so the room had an overall dim feel. Had I still been human, this probably would have bothered me as I would not have been able to see the best, but now as I was a werewolf—it could be completely black and I would be fine.
There was a bathroom that contained a large tub, toilet, and sink. The closet was inside the bathroom, the door just at the end. It was odd as in the closet, the outfits consisted of something you would see someone wearing in the 1700s'. I had crinkled my nose at that wondering exactly how long it had been since someone inhabited this room.
Obviously, it had been a good two-hundred or so years. I shivered at the thought, disliking anything that had to do with a time-period before the roaring twenties.
History had never been my favorite class and I often lost interest in anything we learned about that came before the time of the Great Gatsby setting.
All in all, this room looked ancient, like something out of a medieval movie. Most people probably would have thought that it was cool, but not me. Nope, I absolutely hated the old theme and preferred rooms with sleek modern themes.
That was why the Cullen house called to me, it was perfectly modern and gorgeous. This castle was stuffy and old.
I had screamed for hours when Demetri and Felix first threw me in here, myself pounding on the door and throwing a fit. My tantrum had gone unheard as no one came to my aid, the door remaining sealed and locked.
Eventually, my screams had led to tears which led to me having a mental breakdown. After that, I had exhausted myself so much that I ended up passing out in the middle of the floor.
Now, as I woke up, my throat in pain from the screaming and eyes crusty from the tears, I breathed in deeply. I was thirsty but there was no water.
Walking toward my backpack which was left by the locked door, I fiddled around inside pulling out a half-empty water bottle and package of unopened chips. My head was pounding from the lack of water and my stomach hurt from not eating.
As much as I wanted to make use of the tub, my pride still would not allow it. Even if Caius hated my guts, I was still his mate, and based on what Aro was saying, they could not ignore me forever. Someone would need to come in eventually.
Sitting on the wall by the door, I drank from the water bottle while shifting through my chips. Ruffles had never before tasted as good as they did at this moment.
My eyes lit up when I felt my phone resting in my back pocket. How I had forgotten about it, I would never know.
Probably because I was losing my mind for the past whoever-knows-how-long.
Pulling my phone in front of my face, I smiled at the fact I still had just over 45% left. I sniffled a bit at the sight of a text from Drake—there was a chance I would never see my best friend again. I tried not to think about it, carefully ignoring his text finding a text from my father.
It was a picture of what appeared to be Germany. It was odd to think that I was now on the same continent as my parents, but if I was correct, their trip should be ending next week. They would be home in Arizona soon—it was something that relaxed me as the further away from Volterra my parents were—the better.
Not only that, but the Cullens had mentioned vampires rarely went near Arizona because of the constant clear sunny skies. John-Patrick had been the exception according to Carlisle as he had simply been passing through. My parents were safest from all of this at home.
I rose a brow at the sight of my phone going from data and connecting to wifi. Pursing my lips, I went into settings opening the wifi. I was curious to see what wifi my phone connected to automatically.
There were two. One was "Volterra Castle Guest" (the one I was connected to) and the other was "Volterra Castle". Curiously, I clicked on the Volterra Castle one only to be met with a password. Of course, it was password-protected.
Rolling my eyes, I shook away how strange it was. It was weird as this castle and everyone inside was so... old, it was like they were stuck in an entirely different era. Seeing things like wifi made my head spin.
I sighed when a Snapchat from Ryan Denmark came in. Slowly, I opened it, frowning at the contents.
It was a dickpic labeled with the caption, "thinking of you". I tilted my head, Ryan and I had never really talked outside of our drunken exploits. Unsurely—and for reasons I will never know—I ignored the dickpic and instead my finger hovered over the "unadd" icon. Breathing out, I pressed the unadd option watching as Ryan Denmark faded out of my life.
Simply another chapter gone.
I sat against the wall, no doubt looking like a hot mess as everything seemed to crumble. God, I wish I had some alcohol or weed right about now. Reaching up, I took my hair out of the messy ponytail, running my fingers through it.
Crossing my legs, I took another chip into my mouth wondering what the hell my life has come to. I hated even thinking about the reason I was here, the blond douche King was a horrifying thought.
Suddenly, the sound of the customary iPhone ringtone met my ears. Raising a brow, I looked to who could possibly be calling, my eyes widening at the sight of a picture of Bella on my screen.
Earlier in the summer, I made it my personal mission to have a profile picture for all of the Cullens. Bella's was by far the best as hers was a picture of herself smiling with a book resting in her hand. Nessie had the next best picture as she had chosen to hang upside down in a tree while flashing the rock sign.
Every other Cullen I had managed to catch by surprise.
Emmett's was the worst and he hated me for it as his picture was him leaning over the sink and coughing up pasta. Long story short, after Esme had made Nessie, Jake, and I homecooked pasta, Emmett insisted that he try some just to make sure he still disliked human food.
He took one bite and that is the story of how his profile picture came to be.
Shaking my head, I frowned at thought of never seeing Emmett Cullen again. Quickly, I answered Bella's call.
"Hello?" My voice was hoarse and tense from all the screaming.
I heard the sound of many people talking and the engines of a plane causing me to believe that Bella was now on the flight.
"Jackie..." Bella's sad tone came through followed by sniffles.
Vampires could not produce tears but they could still cry. Rather, they would dry sob and based on how Bella sounded, dry sobs did not sound too far away. I heard Edward in the background and I could vaguely imagine him hugging Bella to his side in a comforting manner.
Edward had always been good to Bella, he and Bella were the most affectionate couple to each other closely followed by Carlisle and Esme. They were not afraid to show off their powerful love for each other.
In a few ways, it made me long for something like that, but I had closed off any promise of real love years ago.
Not to mention if I was actually stuck with fucking Caius for the rest of eternity then there was no way I would actually be getting any real form of love.
"Oh, Jaclyn," here came the dry sobs from Bella, "I am so sorry, I did not think this could happen. We should have never allowed you to come with us..."
"Bella..." I interrupted her, trying to keep my voice strong. "It's okay, really. I'm tough, everything will turn out fine..." I sighed, I could not break now.
If I broke then Bella would break.
"I swear, just say the word and I will come marching back right now and take you away. Just say it and I'm there..." her voice was weak but there was an underlying tone of determination that told me she was not joking, "say it, Jaclyn, c' mon please..." I heard Edward in the background along with Alice telling her to stop.
I had to cover my mouth to muffle the cry willing to break out. It hurt so bad, and as much I wanted to tell Bella to come back and we would take down these Volturi motherfuckers together, I knew I could not.
For both our sakes, for once I had to admit defeat.
"No," my voice cracked against my will and I was quick to pull myself together, "you can't Bella. You have too much going for you—"
"Jaclyn..."
"No, Bella, for me, promise you won't do anything. I will be fine, I swear..."
"Jaclyn..." Bella was crying and I heard the sound of the captain on her end telling everyone to prepare for takeoff.
Bella did not have much longer. But neither did I, there was only so much I could bear.
Taking a deep breath, I steadied myself, "I need to go, Bella, I'll talk to you soon, I love you,"
"Jaclyn, no—" but I could no longer handle it and hung up the phone.
I took a few deep breaths, willing myself to stay calm and not burst into tears. My throat already hurt enough, there was no need to cry myself even more and cause my headache to get even worse.
"How heartwarming," a sarcastic voice drawled from next to me causing me to snap my head to the right.
Caius stood in the doorway, the previously locked door slightly ajar behind him. How I had not heard it open before was beyond me. Caius's scent filled my nose causing goosebumps to erupt over my arms.
He still wore his nice suit—though his cloak was gone.
Looking into his red eyes, I was reminded of my dream and immediately I stood up and launched myself away from him to the other side of the room. My water bottle, cellphone, and chips remained in my previous spot.
Caius stared at the chips with disgust, his nose crinkling as he looked away from the chip bag and back to me. "Is this what humans call sustenance nowadays?"
"Better than blood," I was quick to quip back, my tone nothing less than a snarl.
Caius rose a perfect brow, humming while closing his door completely and walking further into the room.
"I think not," he trailed slowly, eyes taking in the room, "it appears this room has not been inhabited for quite some time..."
"Fuck you," I hissed, not wanting to dance around any longer.
Caius's eyes snapped back to mine a dangerous gleam swimming within, "I would never lower myself to those standards," he sneered.
I sniffed, not caring for his insult but at the same time confused.
"Then why the fuck am I even here?" I stamped my foot on the ground, throwing my hands in the air.
The blond dick scowled, taking another step forward. "Because, whether I care to admit it or not, you cannot be too far away from me." He paused as a wicked smile wrote itself across his perfect face. "Also there is nothing more befitting than making the Cullen's suffer..."
"That is bullshit!" I exclaimed, this had to be a punishment of some sort.
God was finally paying me back for what happened with Carter four years ago.
"Stop with the attitude, I do not wish to be sworn at every second. You are testing my patience," he hissed.
Tilting my head, I mockingly bat my eyelashes adorning an apologetic look, "Oh! I am so very sorry, I forgot that you are older than the world or whatever..." Caius growled warningly, his eyes beginning to turn black; however, I did not stop there, "how is this for attitude? Fuck you, fuck your brothers, fuck your mother, FUCK YOUR ENTIRE EXISTENCE! Fuckedy, fuck, fuck, fuck—!"
Caius roared and he moved quicker than I had even seen Edward move. Suddenly, his hand was balling the front of my shirt threateningly.
"Get your hands off of me!" I yelled, and before I knew even my own movement, my right hand had raised and went across Caius's face so hard his head cracked to the side.
The sound of flesh hitting marble rebounded around and my hand was aching from how hard I hit him.
Caius growled, his eyes now completely black as his head turned back to face me. There was a quickly healing crack on his cheek that had me smirking. Releasing an animalistic growl of my own, I brought my foot up to his abdomen and used him to push myself back.
Flipping backward, I landed in a crouch, my own eyes now glowing blue and my teeth on full display. Caius was quick to crouch as well, hissing menacingly with pure black eyes.
Werewolf vs. Vampire, which one of us will win?
Wasting no time, I tramped up to him, pulling my hand back to throw the first punch. However, Caius was anticipating this and managed to grab my arm mid-swing and fold it behind my back forcing me to turn around.
I grunted at the pain flaring in my arm as Caius forced me down.
"You really think you stand a chance against me?" He scoffed as though the notion was ridiculous. "A vampire over 3000 years old! I have fought in many wars, I am the one who oversees this entire coven's combat units, you are nothing but a child!"
"So to me," I grunted through the pain, allowing my instincts to take over. Throwing my leg behind me, I kicked him backward causing him to release me. Immediately, I swung my other leg and kicked him over the head causing him to be knocked to the side.
Standing feet away, I continued with my statement, "... it sounds like you are an old King who needs to get with the times!"
Caius once again hurtled toward me, but this time I was expecting it and quickly side-stepped him. Turning around, I faced one of the wooden posts to bed and ripped it off. Caius furrowed his brows when I faced him once again, but his eyes widened as threw myself at him with the makeshift stake raised.
I landed on his shoulders and shoved the wooden post deep within his chest causing him to cry out in pain. Caius was on the taller side and made up of lean muscle, so it was not the hardest (as I was not the tallest girl out there) to balance on his shoulders. I imagined it looked entertaining the way we were positioned. Jumping off his shoulders, I flipped in the air landing behind him.
Caius quickly pulled the post out of him, throwing it to the side and looking to me with disbelief written across his face. I swear I saw hints of amusement at first, but they were so small that I could not be sure.
His nice suit now had a hole straight in the center of it though.
"Foolish girl, vampires dying by stake is nothing but a myth," he sneered causing me to smile.
"Why are you smiling?" He quickly demanded.
"Because I know it won't kill you, I just figured it would hurt!" I cackled causing Caius to nearly blow a casket from his anger.
I imagined if he was still human, his face would actually be turning red.
Caius moved quickly, and before I knew it we were in a full-blown wrestling match on the ground. We struggled for a while, myself hooking my legs around his waist causing Caius to get distracted momentarily looking down see what I was doing. With a cry, I rolled us over so I was sitting on top of him.
I screamed, holding him by the sides of his head, repeatedly knocking his head into the ground.
"I hate you so much!"
"You are mad!" Caius growled while I continued my assault.
"Only sometimes, bitch!"
Roaring, Caius managed to grab my arms and suddenly he flung us in the air. I grunted as my back hit the wall harshly, Caius standing over me with his hand resting on my neck. He did not squeeze, his hand only grabbed enough as a warning that if I did anything, all he had to do was squeeze hard enough and I was dead.
I panted heavily, looking up into his eyes. Caius looked back down with a hard gaze, neither of us saying a word. We stood still for a few seconds, everything in me daring Caius to kill me right this second.
Caius got a frustrated look in his eye and in seconds, he had growled loudly before a cool breeze was blown my way. I looked around in confusion seeing Caius had disappeared, I vaguely heard the sound of the door locking causing me to glance at the door.
It occurred to me then that Caius had raced out of the room and locked the door behind him.
Anger ripped its way through me, my heart rate speeding up at the fact that I was once again trapped. With an animalistic scream, I was over at the bookshelf knocking it to the ground.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
The pounding of my heart was like a drum. I screamed again, bringing my hands up to my face. Unfortunately, against my will, my nails had grown into claws causing me to scratch my face as I scraped down.
I felt the scratches begin healing immediately, but that did not stop the burning anger. Pain emerged in my body, almost similar to the anger and pain I felt before shifting from the full moon. My vision was turning red, and I realized that I was quickly losing control of the animal within.
On a full moon, I lost complete control and often ended up not remembering anything the next day. Now; however, I was only in semi-control, the animal was pushing all of my actions. Wailing, I was suddenly jumping from wall-to-wall, destroying everything in the room.
All the posts were ripped off the bed and embedded into the walls, the desk was flipped, the closet and bathroom door were ripped straight off the hinges. I went berserk, anything and everything in my sight was destroyed.
The room was in shambles, the once pretty ancient room completely destroyed and unable to be lived in. It was not until there was basically nothing left to be destroyed that I began launching myself at the locked door.
Before, I had not been this angry, but now that I was, the door started squeaking from the pressure. It was obviously built to contain a vampire based on its heaviness and protective lock.
As I hit against the door for a second time, I heard the sound of it giving way. Throwing myself back, I prepared to blow at the door for a final time and knock it off its hinges.
With a war cry, I began forward; however, to my surprise, the door suddenly opened and Alec stood in the midst of it. His eyes widened at the sight of me coming for him, but I only screamed, opened my mouth revealing the huge incisors of my teeth.
I was fully prepared to take him down.
Quickly, a dark mist came from Alec's hands and just before I could reach him, I was left floating in an abyss of nothingness. And like that, everything stopped.
