BACKGROUND!

SpiderClan cats are known for being fearless, agile climbers that confidently leap through the trees. Though their smaller stature can lead cats to underestimate them, they more than make up for it in the swiftness and quantity of their actions.

GENETICS!

SpiderClan cats have small but sharp claws to help them easily climb through the trees. Their pelts are soft and light to prevent drag when leaping about, and their tails are the most suited for balancing out of the three Clans, though they're usually fluffy as well. Their pelts can be any variety of usual cat colours, but browns and reds are slightly more common. In fact, some claim them to be more squirrel than cat thanks to their smaller builds and soft fur! Unlike squirrels, however, their ears are pointed in classic cat style.

TERRITORY!

SpiderClan holds claim over the deciduous woodland on the left side of the river. They enjoy the company of the trees and use them for both shelter and hunting, and they consider the branches as much their home as the forest floor. Landmarks of the territory include: the Scorched Grove, a stretch of trees that were struck by a forest fire, the Dead Scar, their network of tunnels that serve as their burial ground, Owl Wing Thicket, an owl nesting site, and Sandy Hollow, which is a popular spot among mentors for mock battle training.

CAMP!

SpiderClan's camp is in a thick, sheltered clearing in their forest. Most cats sleep outside or in temporary dens made from tree. The nursery is a large hollow in the side of a tree. The druid's den is inside a thick pile of dirt and roots. The leader's den and veterans' den are built into a large boulder that has eroded to form caves. The leader of the Clan will address their warriors from a large touch jutting out of the ground known as the Highstone.

TRADITIONS!

•SpiderClan takes great pride in training their young to be quick and clever. SpiderClan assessments typically involve tests of not only climbing, battling, and hunting capabilities, but also knowledge of history and life in their forest. An apprentice will usually be quizzed on animal scents, important events in their Clan's history, and occasionally minor herb lore.

•Fallen warriors of SpiderClan are greatly mourned. In order to ease the grief, the body will quickly be taken to a network of tunnels not too far from camp and buried in the walls. Afterwards, a feast will be held to honour and remember their life.

•SpiderClan cats are taught to be fast and attack as much as possible in a single leap. This is to ensure the enemy has no time to strike back or pin them, which is a necessity when you are smaller than your opponent, and also why they typically train to fight in pairs.

•Climbing and navigating through the treetops is a necessity in SpiderClan life, and one of the first things an apprentice learns to master. Even their hunting is usually done above the ground, with their diet mainly consisting of eggs, birds, squirrels, and even the occasional lizard.
