"Step right up! Step right up!", a man cried.
Raising the flags, covering up the ground with signs, lights, and entertainment.
People gathered with things while dressing up with a delicate style.
Ladies in puffy dresses and men with ties.
Why, of course! This is Gravity Falls County—
Beep beep!
"Ahhhh!"
"Oh god!"
Hearing the shriek of a vehicle, people ran from a different direction.
Some succeed while others trip into misery—not from the vehicle but themself.
Park in the middle of the town, a car door swung open to reveal our main entrapment.
"I can't believe it!", twirling around her violet dress as she poses dramatically, "Gravity Falls County Fair!"
Feeling joy, the woman glances around curiosity at the town's fair.
Meanwhile, behind her, men from the vehicle fix themselves while having a conversation.
"Thank you for dropping us off, Grunkle Stan", he said as the blonde one put his arm around his shoulder.
The relationship between the two young men was getting better.
This has made Stanley feel at ease when seeing the brunette in a better view. He would not say the same to Mabel, but at least she was out of her room for once with her family.
"No problem, kid. Just try not to go back to the shack and start talking like these people or else you're dead to me"
Both young males look at each other with glee as the brunette move closer to another—romantically putting his hand on his chest.
"Darling, whatever shall we do with the man and his unknown horse?"
"Don't worry, Doll", he softly caresses the brunette's cheek before looking at the old man, "this man ain't worth of our interest as much as each other"
"Darling..."
The old man glance at them and blankly said, "you're dead to me"
With that, Stanley went back to the vehicle and drove off before yelling out, "DEAD!".
Both of them laugh—ignoring the scream from the background and not noticing the stare of the brunette's sister...
Mabel
Okay, I'm not gonna lie...
This is going to be harder than I thought.
The way my brother looked at him made me realize something...
I might be too late.
No!
Stop it!
Using my purple fan, I look around hoping to see any luck of opportunities for me to take some actions.
Of course, I have to be careful; not letting anyone notice my weird behavior. After all, I'll need to separate them for this plan to work.
"Hey, guys! You made it."
I turn around and saw a familiar redhead waving at us before coming over us.
Wearing some blue jeans with a white shirt and a jacket wrap around her waist, made me smile as I see that she hasn't changed.
"Thank you so much, Wendy"
"No problem, man", she chuckled.
She looks over next to my brother's side. Given in a smirk, she complimented my brother before introducing herself to William.
Ugh, I can't stand this guy.
I mean, I don't understand what Dipper sees him.
Dipper
"Well, it was nice knowing ya, William. I'm gonna hang out with the gang. But hey, if you guys want to join-"
"We're in!"
I gasp a bit and mumbled when Mabel appear out of nowhere right between me and Bill.
I swear this girl will make my ear bleed...
You said it
I glance at Bill as he smirks at me.
"Great. I'll meet you guys over there"
Once she was out of sight, I push Mabel away and gave her a questionable look.
"What the heck, Mabel!"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!", she waves both of her arms a little, "it just that...I want to make up with you"
What?
I look over at Bill, to which his facial expression was the same way as mine.
What the heck?
"Look, ever since the fight between us, I been thinking and realized that..."
Waiting for her response, it didn't take long to figure out that she was struggling.
Her mouth keeps moving up and down, while her hands swing a little like she was expecting something.
I sigh, "that you were wrong"
"Yes!", she snaps her fingers.
Before she repeat her sentence, I stop and told her that I accept; knowing that this conversation will not end.
"Great! Then come on, Dipper! Let's go!"
Grabbing my arm tightly as she ran toward the same path that Wendy went. Of course, Bill follows as we begin our adventure.
_¿?_
So far, everything seems good.
After meeting up with the gang, I get to see the things that I miss throughout my years.
From talking about our past to cheering at Thomason's food escape from the cops.
Rebuild my relationship with Robbie by talking about our relationship with our explicit partner (not mine but his).
And of course, watching others welcoming Bill to be part of our group.
Like man, how can Bill be so likable?
Is it obvious, Pinetree
I rolled my mine and said quit it after he whisper in my ear, "cuz everybody wants me"
"Hey, guys!"
We stop and look over where Wendy's finger points out.
It turns out that this event became more interesting.
I lean over to Bill's side and ask that if this is even possible, to which he replied, "well, yeah. I mean, look at them."
We watch the newlyweds hug each other in glee. Well, it was a while until his bride start flapping their wing as he hold them.
Hearing a gobble sound, Bill pointed out that they are indeed in love.
I nodded as we move on.
I'm glad that everyone is enjoying themselves, and that Bill's exist is still unknown.
"Hello, everyone! Can I get everyone's attention here?"
A couple of people huddle up around the stage. Some people stay quiet, while others stay wild.
This goes on until the shelters stop this ride up.
"All right, everyone! Settle down! Settle down!"
"Yeah! Woo! Settle down!"
"It's quite amazing how that bell was able to shut the meat shack out. Hey, Pinetree, maybe I should get myself a bell", Bill whisper as the person continues.
"Thank you, Shelter Blubs...and Deputy Durland", she sighs blankly.
"Woooo!"
Ringing his bell out made his partner laugh before calming him down with his ran page.
Of course, anybody could tell that the person on the stage was not living for it.
"Anyways, we are here to celebrate this amazing County Fair!"
Clap can be heard around us with cheers.
More cheers came as she introduce the major's speech, which almost made everyone say, "get 'em!"
This goes on until our final guest has arrived, and believe me, this is the person that I haven't seen since that incident.
I know I got them on the wrong foot, but hopefully, I have time to apologize and explain my 'situation'.
"Thank you all for coming! On the half of this festival, as I, Pacifica Northwest, have decided to donate half of our family fortune to this town"
The moment that she said that, people stare in shock and began whispering all around us. I mean, I don't blame them.
Free money was given to them without any returns is an unexpected miracle.
"Well, damn", Wendy chuckle a little, "Stan would not believe this"
Before long, Pacifica inform us further that not only the town people would get money but also will be invited to the next Northwest's party.
People wave victoriously as she walks down to the stage but only be dragged by her own father.
I hope she's doing okay.
Feeling a soft smooth plus against my hand, I smile for a bit.
I need to think about my 'situation' before I could have any chance to talk to her again.
But for now, I'm busy for a moment with him.
"Oh my! Is that the Pines that I'm seeing?"
Wendy notice the person's voice and wave as she told us that she and the gang would go on without us, which I didn't mind.
Afterward, it was just us and him.
Gideon.
"It's been a long time since we last saw each other", he chuckled.
"Indeed it has", I replied.
Looking back, I realize how much this man has changed. From short to tall, ridiculous hair to normal hair—well almost—, and an evil goblin to a decent man.
It's funny how we were once enemies before friends.
"Oh, howdy, Mabel! I didn't see you there. How are you?"
"I'm doing fine, thanks", she mumbled.
I'm pretty sure Gideon heard her tone cuz as soon as he called out someone, a blonde girl appeared.
With her curly hair being tight up into a braided low bun. A sky blue dress flows through the soft wind as she came closer to us.
Her smile made me feel welcome at her present as Gideon introduce us as his lady—Eliza.
We enjoy ourselves as time goes on.
"My, aren't you funny"
Her laugh die down quick as she gasps and turn to him, "Gideon, maybe we should tell them about the special event that they're gonna hold up later evening"
His smile never left as he explain to us that there's going to be a cooking contest.
"And the grand prize is not only the blue ribbon but also a grand trip to anywhere you want!", she said excitedly.
Her arms wrap around closer against him as she continues, "I'm positive that we're going to win. Right, Giddy?"
"Pfff...Giddy"
I hit my elbow lightly at Bill's side. He's lucky that they didn't hear him since they were both busying calling each other pet names.
"Hey, maybe we can join the contest, Dipper"
Everything stops at the moment as we look back at Mabel.
Questionable, I try to see what she's thinking.
But the only thing that strike me was her smile, and believe me, I have no idea what's going on in her head.
Pacifica
"What were you thinking!?"
Grabbing my arm tightly, but not enough to make a bruise.
This family is getting worst as years go by.
I'm not surprised.
But it doesn't matter. They should have known that no matter what happens, I decide to make. I mean, I am now the holder of Northwest—not them.
Besides, they did nothing but complain since that's the only thing they're good at other than money.
They should be grateful that I'm keeping our family name alive.
"It doesn't matter anyway", he let go of me and sigh. Rubbing his eyes, he left without saying anything as my mother follow.
Ugh!
"Miss. Northwest"
I turn with a flash of a smile.
Focusing on what I do will ease the pain. The pain of what my family has done to me.
"Just put the check somewhere safe, alright"
Narrator
Back to the moment that everyone was shocked at.
"Interesting...Whelp", Gideon made a hard 'p' sound as he claps, "see like we have a competition"
"We'll see you all there"
He gave it a wave after grabbing her hand.
Walking away from them, she yelled out a sweet comment before focusing her attention on her man.
"This was a mess", Dipper thought.
He couldn't believe it. He thought that her 'apologizing' was enough to make it stop, but guess it wasn't.
Meanwhile, Mabel's eyes were softened with hope as she see this as an opportunity.
She believes that Dipper might side with her if she explains her reason for this.
The female brunette's plan may work out.
"Dipper, I understand that you don't want this, but please, this might work for our relationship—for making up the fight"
The male brunette was unsure about this at first but gave it in since she haven't expected anything from Bill other than himself.
With a sound of glee, her mouth was filled with the explosive ideas that she had in mind.
Unknowingly, Bill was bored as soon as the attention was on her.
He couldn't help but feel like something was missing.
Something chaotic.
His vision was all over the place. From a man shouting bets, ringing bells, cheers, and so much more.
He keep on looking until he found it. A piece of hope for his entertainment.
Glancing around, he quickly uses his magic unnoticed by anyone before grinning.
Waiting for the 'miracle' to begin.
"What's with that look?"
Bill, being Bill, would answer a simple 'nothing but yours' kind.
Dipper knew his bs and yet never ask any further.
_¿?_
Plans were made as the trios relish different types of exhibitions.
Both Dipper and Bill go each round together as Mabel trail behind.
The feeling is coming back from her as she notices every smallest detail from them. Going through with them was tough since she was in the middle of it all. But no matter what she did, her plan became worst as their relationship between the two men was alive with both passion and strength.
The mixed feeling of hers was not going away, but rather building up. The pain was at high that she excuse herself and let out a breathe.
Mabel
I don't understand.
I tried everything that I could think of.
But everything just falls apart.
Breathe, Mabel. Breathe. It's only a matter of time...
I continue to relax as I went back to them. Dipper and his boyfriend are already close as one wraps their shoulder around them.
Look like they are having a fun time without me.
Breathing myself out for the last time, made my lips curve upward, and simply yelled and wave.
This got their attention as we move on to the next.
Pushing them away nor sabotaging didn't work. So how?
"Attention! In about 10 minutes, we're about to begin our festival's cooking contest!"
My eyes were light up as my mind started working with ideas once more.
Dipper
"But seriously, what happened?", I ask after we watch the husband of the new wed complain to his new wife.
Bill explained to me that the reason for this was that his new wife tried to leave without him, which didn't work out as the husband was able to grab his wife while dodging her attacks.
Hearing a loud gobble became the worst of them. Assuming that the marriage between might go downhill if this keeps up.
"Whelp, glad we're not in a crazy marriage"
"But I'm 'dating' you"
"I know, but this isn't that type of crazy. Ours are more unique"
I rolled my eyes as I answer, "sure."
"Dipper!", she yelled.
Grabbing my arm while explaining to me more detail about her plan. The plan was simple enough for us to win.
"It's gonna be great!", she said.
'Us cooking as the mystery twin' she said.
How lovely.
We made it to the place where we going to against other competitions.
Seeing the staff rechecking each station as others ask questions for those who are in or out of this contest.
After answering each question from one of the staff, we were finally able to find our table and start putting all the tools that were needed in the recipe.
Over to the left side, there's Sheriff Blubs along with his partner whispering to each other as one of them let out a gasp while the other giggle.
Then to our right side, there's—
"Soos, you're here for competition?"
He laughs a little—putting his hand behind his neck and answering, "well, yeah dudes. Melody and I thought that we just join for fun and nothing more"
I smile before giving out, "good luck"
"Alright, everyone! It's time for the contest to begin!"
The crowd was roaring as I quickly ask Mabel about 'Will', yet was stopped by him—explaining that he will be with the crowd cheering.
I was unsure about it, but let it side. Dealing with this was important and that Bill hasn't caused any harm so far.
Narrator
Timepass after the bell rang.
Many people watch in silence, while the sound was nothing but the tools being used.
Everyone was so focused that time was running on too quickly. Very few cruse as others giggles in hope of lighting up the mood.
The announcement was called out by the same woman, who did the introduction of this fair, as she name out each minute and second.
Meanwhile, the yellow devil looks over everything as he waits patiently for the event to come out more engaging for his pleasure.
"Dipper, look over the oven. I'll do the rest", Mabel order calmly, to which he responded with a nod.
"Fifteen minutes", he thought.
Carefully, checking each of every piece of it was made perfectly for his team to go smoothly as his sister plan it.
Meanwhile, Mabel was putting everything into place. From the light area to the darkest sheets of every choice that they made together as the mystery twins.
With that, she grabbed one of her things and went over across the other table before coming back.
Smiling, she thought of wonderful things that this would become their masterpiece—her masterpiece.
A scream came in as smoke started to form from the sheets to the ground.
People panicked as the announcement cried out.
Many people including those who participate evacuate the area away from the flame.
Of course, the demon was pleased to see the results of what they become. His eye rolls over as he sees everyone scramming all over the place.
"Oh, come on! We're halfway from this event and you guys are here panicking instead of solving this?"
"Will, come on, let's go", Dipper hiss and hold his 'boyfriend' tight in his hand. He knew that this was probably his 'lover' idea.
His sister came over and watch their idea crumble into dust.
_¿?_
'Nobody is a winner' they say.
Believing in their word was the only thing that they can do. After all, they ran out of time.
However, that was before they found out that one of the participant's baking was indeed alive and well.
Many people were upset at first before accepting the reality of this outcome.
Gideon, however, took his frustrations some time, and luckily, was saved by his lover.
Now, they started calling each of every pet name and giving out some kisses and 'I love you' to each other as they can.
Bill didn't like it and tell Dipper that they were glad that they aren't like that, which Dipper quite down at his statement.
The young man didn't like how the blonde man was the main cause of this mess, yet wasn't sure how since he didn't see him cast any magic throughout the whole competition.
"Hey, I'm going to get our stuff if that's alright"
Dipper nodded as he saw his sister walking away from them. He was glad that everyone was safe and sound.
As for his relationship with his sister, it was going to take some time before the strings reconnect, but for now, it's going a little well.
With that, he turn back to the people who he needed to investigate.
While he does that, the young brunette thank the staff and started the grab the things that she needed.
A bowl, measuring cups, baking sheets, cutters, lighter, rolling pin, and much more.
She sighs after putting everything together.
The only thought that she could think of that made her move forward was just these simple words.
'Phase one done'
~Extra~
Bill
"Wait, what do you mean by that?", Pinetree asks.
Before I can answer, I look over behind and notice how the young fleabag was shaking—mumbling while rubbing his hand as his eyes were all over the place.
Whelp looks like the damage is done.
I go back at Pinetree and continue with his nonsense.
Narrator
You were probably wondering what happened to the poor young man that Bill called a 'fleabag'.
Well...
<Flashback>
"Just put the check somewhere safe, alright"
The man nodded as he took the check and put it where she ask him to.
While walking, his body felt a little bit off once the wind of the breeze came a soft, yet tingled shot all over him.
At first, he never thought of it and assume it's just the weather doing their thing. However, that was only the beginning of it as he started to feel that this day wasn't his day.
Falling into a hole full of misery, he continued running in hope of getting his shit together.
'How could it be?', he wondered.
What he did was unforgettable to him.
He lost something that he shouldn't have.
And now, he's paying the cost.
He cried out 'no' nonstop; watching the wind picking up the check while playing around anywhere he goes.
'This was madness', he thought.
He knew that it continues by the time the event ended, he'll go nowhere but to feel grief.
He doubts that the Northwest family will give him a chance to explain it all. After all, this was the one job that he had to do and he blew it.
He's lost.
What to do next?
Run!
Hide!
<Flashback Ended>
With that, this chapter might be the last time that we ever heard from him again.
_¿?_
"Huh, what's this?"
Holding out was nothing, but scraps of dirt he thought before opening up with glee.
"Money!", he cried before closing the door.
The only thing that we can hear from the man was cheers of celebration on his greed.
Classic Grunkle Stan.
