19. Junk Mail

Junk.

Junk.

Junk.

More junk mail I received since there were bills to pay, taxes, credit cards, etc. Especially some of those tabloid skits that get on my nerves.

"Nothing but a pile of junk," I muttered.

My eyes scanned the nine mail letters I received from delivering to my address except one. No name on it said who it was from, but it was a package for Y/N. She's not here even though she's working with her friends in the office at U.C.C. Speaking about her job, I had to keep it secret, and no one knew about her being a spy except for Janet and me.

"Daddy? Where's Y/N?" I heard my daughter entering the living room holding a teddy bear.

"She's not here today, honey. Y/N's at work." I replied.

She looked down a little sad, and I knelt at her level.

"What's the matter?" I asked.

"Are you and Y/N still together?" She asked.

"Of course we are, honey. She's not leaving us only to catch up on some work." I replied.

"Is she not working for you anymore?" She asked.

I shook my head.

"No. She's working in another department to earn money and support herself." I explained as she understood every word of it. "Y/N had two jobs, and working full-time at two workplaces is difficult. So, we talked, and I let her work at the job she first joined."

"When will she be home?" She asked, tilting her head to the side.

"I don't know, technically, Paris. She's busy, but she should be able to return." I replied, rubbing her shoulders up and down to comfort her.

"Okay." She turned her heel to leave out of the room as I sighed.

Things would be different around here without Y/N being home all the time.

"HA!" Mila swung her legs, kicking her instructor, who was wearing protective gear. She raised her leg and twirled to throw an uppercut in his chin. It caught him off guard and then jabbed him, along with a knee in the gut.

You were clapping at Mila, watching how much she improved her training session. Mila got off the training ground and approached you, grabbing a bottle of water to take a sip.

"That was amazing! You've been training a lot." You praised.

"Yeah, I've been working on special moves to target my enemies." Said Mila.

"You've improved a lot since I have been busy lately." You replied.

Mila grinned as she rested a hand on her hip, "It's nice seeing you here without working as a bodyguard. What was going through your head?" She asked.

"I don't know. I guessed to do something a little different." You shrugged your shoulders while shoving your hands into your pockets.

"Well, I'm glad you came back, and you're still catching up on the paperwork the boss lent you, too," She piped up while walking over to the snack machine. "Dammit. I left my wallet back in my office."

"I got mine." A voice came from behind you two as it was none other than Ms. Valentine.

"Oh, you don't have to." Mila protested.

"I insist." Said Ms. Valntine.

She went to the snack machine and got Mila's favorite nutritional snack bar.

"Thanks," Mila said.

"Anytime," Ms. Valentine turned away from Mila to you. "I heard your back from working as a bodyguard, so to speak." You merely nodded. "Glad you decided to return to the office since your partner has been taking up the whole part of the paperwork."

"Yeah, I had to catch up on many things, but I managed." You replied, looking at her with a faint smile.

Ms. Valentine remained stoic, but she smiled at you. After finishing her training session, Mila had to leave to take a quick shower.

"I have a question to ask." Ms. Valentine started up as you had your attention entirely on her. "It's about a case since you and Toshiki couldn't track down Mr. Prince. The boss informed me that there is another case you two can solve."

You looked up at her, blinking several times as if you had misheard her. "What case? We were still working on--" She cuts you off by digging into her suit to pull out another case file.

"It's best to work on other cases instead of the ones you can't solve." She said.

You furrowed your eyebrows as you questioned, "This is something you're trying to pull us out of to solve Mr. Prince's case, isn't it?" You frowned.

"The boss is requesting you to do this opportunity, and they will continue searching for Mr. Prince. Take care, Y/N." She hands over the file folder and turns her heel to leave you standing.

You went back to your office and placed the file on the desk. You were logging on to do your next case since you can do it alone. A knock on the door broke your attention as Toshiki was at the doorway.

"Good afternoon; busy are we?" He greets you as he steps inside the office to sit in one of the lounge chairs.

"Yeah, and it sucks enough that I have to do another case and not continue the one we were working on." You let out a heavy sigh flipping the folder open on your desk to take a look at the following case.

Toshiki remained silent as he watched you read the case to yourself and began typing down any information about the person.

"The boss told me the same thing saying we weren't qualified to continue with the case. Instead, he gave us a new one and offered special troops to do the case for us." Said Toshiki.

"That's a bummer. For us." You muttered.

"Which one is it?" Toshiki asked.

"Lady Bo. She's a blond woman with blue eyes, and she's Russian. She's technically thirty-seven years old, married, rich, alcoholic, dangerous type, and blah, blah, blah." You read out loud before glancing down to notice that she was a crackhead.

"Troublesome and excusable for a woman like her to predict this," Toshiki commented.

"Yeah, and she's a dangerous one as a red flag to force women and men to kneel before her." You scoffed. "She's not a queen if she were to force people to bow down to her." Shaking your head as you were putting the file to the side.

You leaned back into your chair and stared at the ceiling, resting your hands on your lap.

"Is something the matter?" Toshiki asked.

"Do you think we might be able to continue searching for Mr. Prince?" You asked.

"I doubt it. We can't continue that task after that failure." Said Toshiki.

"Yet, we still have that drive you had stored back at the location site." You raise an eyebrow over at the tall male, and he sighs. "Let's check it out." You said.

"We can discuss that later. I'm going to grab some coffee. You want anything?" He stood from the chair and headed out of the doorway, glancing over his shoulder for a response.

"Water, please." You replied.

"Hey, Rachel!" The young woman lifted her head to look at her partner Mr. Walter.

"Whatever you want to discuss, Andrew, I can't now." Said Rachel, flipping through the documents on her desk while holding a pen.

"It's important news that I gotta tell you! So, I overheard the boss discussing the upcoming Fall in L.A. event. He will be making a gathering event, and we'll be there." Andrew explained to Rachel, who didn't seem to care about the party, only to focus on her work. "He even mentions that Rick Orlando, the billionaire man, will be there to host the ceremony."

"What ceremony is that?" Rachel asked.

"It's a special reward to any of the colleagues here that have worked for the past few years. It's a special reward since 1937 during the wars given to one of the special spies that worked undercover." Said, Richard.

A smug appeared on Rachel's face as she scanned through the documents saying, "Well, I am certain that we'll be the ones to earn that reward after all the hard work we have been doing." Andrew stood there momentarily as he went over to peek through the cracked door. He looked over at Toshiki, who held two cups, one with coffee and another with water inside.

"Might wanna worry about the other two we're competing against." He stated.

"Who?" Rachel tilts her head with her furrowed eyebrows focused on the papers.

"Y/N and Toshiki." He replied.

Rachel's expression changed to look more stoic and a little envious. She wanted to earn the reward for herself since she's worked more years at a time, solving cases, winning, and competing. However, Toshiki and Y/N were good partners to go up against since one had the most brains, and the other was a good-ass kicker.

"That might be a problem." She murmured. Rachel looked up and focused her attention on Andrew. "Andrew, when is the ceremony?" She asked.

"November 11th at around 7:00 PM-12:30 AM." He replied.

"We need to come up with a plan. We've got plenty of time." She frowned slightly.

Y/N P.O.V.

After a long day working at the department, I was exhausted and needed some sleep. I was lucky I didn't have to work tomorrow, but it gave me plenty of time to work on the case I had to fill out. When I got home, I looked around; the house was quiet and empty. I went upstairs to shower quickly since my body was sweaty and needed a brain break.

I took a quick shower and changed into my pajamas as I collapsed on the bed, moaning.

"Finally...home sweet home." I sighed in relief as I snuggled my face into the pillows.

Hours went by, and I was knocked out until, at around 6:34 AM, I woke up and needed to use the restroom. But I felt a pair of arms wrapped around my waist, and I looked over to see Michael snuggling close to me. I was pressed against his chest, my back facing him, and his chin snuggled against my shoulder. Getting up, I carefully removed his arms from me and went to the bathroom. When I was done, I washed my hands, leaving out, and Michael was still asleep. I went to bed and started playing with his hair while smiling.

He moved around a little, and his eyes opened so sleepily.

"Baby girl..." He yawned. His hand reached up to my face cupping my cheek softly. "...What are you doing up? It's still early, isn't it." He was sleepy to ask why I wasn't asleep.

"I didn't get a chance to see you last night. I thought about fixing that up." I replied.

He cracked a slight smile on his face.

"How was work?" He asked.

"Exhausting," I replied.

He silently hums as he nuzzles his face into the crook of my neck.

"Do you have work today?" He asked.

"Mikey, it's a Saturday." I giggled.

He does giggle as he moves his head upward to meet my eyes. He says, "Your eyes look so beautiful to look at." He comments.

"Why, thank you!" You beamed.

A few minutes passed, and Michael soon became wide awake and used the restroom. You got on your phone to watch something on Youtube when you heard Michael entering the bathroom, scratching the back of his neck.

"Oh, baby, you have a package sent from someone for you." You placed your phone down and sat up from the bed to see him walk off toward the package on a small table. Michael picks up the box and hands it over to you.

You took the time to open it, and you don't want to go through it after taking one glance.

"Burn it." You demanded.

"What?" Michael asked.

"I said, burn. It." You hissed.

Michael raises an eyebrow at you, taking the box from your arms.

"I'm going to make breakfast." You hopped out of bed to leave out of the room, and Michael was still wondering what made you want to burn the package.
