Discord and Perseverance

"Ugh..." your vision was blurry, nothing but light in your view. Then blinking slowly and shield your eyes from the orange rays peeking from the branches.

You felt sore all over, groaning lowly and sat up. Then realization hit you and glance around for your friends, specifically Darius. Standing up and ran around for the young boy, finding him still on the grass, unconscious or dead, either of the two options made you sick.

You didn't waste a second and got down to shake him. "Darius... Darius, wake up!"

Darius regaining consciousness as he blinks slowly, gasping and sitting up, worry in eyes when searching his surroundings, releasing a breath of relief when you were right there and alive...

Then cringing at the sight of the others recovering and feeling the same amount of exhaustion and pain from the nasty fall.

Brooklynn held her arm as she walked over, Ben sprawled on the ground, unable to get up from the pain and trauma. Yasmina was examining and checking on Sammy, if she was okay and got hurt from their rough fall. You pause from noticing a certain Asian missing...

A branch snaps and a twig fell next to you, then turn your attention to see the raven-haired teen in the tree. You sigh softly with relief and shake your head, all of you guys were still here and alive-

A roar was heard and caught you all on edge, Kenji nearly fell and grips onto the bark with exclaiming. "Where the heck is that thing?!"

"it's coming!" Ben whimpered as he started crawling backwards, hitting the trunk of the tree where Kon climbed down. The Asian eyed their surroundings for that abomination.

"Shh! it could be anywhere." Yasmina warns with her hand up, walking over to you and Darius.

Brooklynn beside Sammy, the blogger began to think. "The observation tower was that way? Or... was it that way I..." A sigh left the strawberry haired girl's lips in frustration as she pinched the bridge of her nose.

Gutierrez glanced down at her right pocket and lifted the phone of the strawberry girl, the screen slightly cracked but could still be used, nonetheless. But bit her bottom lip in hesitance since she knew the consequences, sighed lowly and shoved the device back in her denim jeans pocket.

A gasp left the young boy's lips when he looked down his slightly torn white shirt. "Where's-No, no-"

"Darius, what's wrong?" You asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"My necklace, I left it in my bunk!" The young boy sighs sadly, but as the monster's roar was heard again as you flinched in alarm, then moved back and closer to everyone else. Kenji glanced at the young boy, "We've got slightly bigger problems than that, dude..."

"We have to run. Now!"

Soon you all were running rapidly through the forest. "Everything will be fine when we get back to camp!"

"Faster!"

"Come on, guys, we're almost there!" Darius instructed with heavy pants and led the group. But as the familiar sight of the path or roadway to the headquarters came into view, you stop abruptly when your eyes saw the horrific sight. N-no...

The camp was destroyed...

Darius fell forward but composed his balance and looked down to see where his shoe landed on, a huge footprint of the dinosaur. "The Indominus Rex..." You gasped and made eye contact with Bowman, getting chills by the mention of the name. "It was here."

"Dave, Roxie, the other workers, they must've all gotten away..." Sammy walks through some of the debris.

Ben cautiously approaching a wrecked truck, then having a peek at the driver's area while the vehicle was upside down. He caught sight of the broken windows and a shadow; his eyes widen in horror at what he found. "N-not all of them..." Then stepped back and fell on his legs, nearly puking and head spinning.

Sammy went to the young boy's side in comfort as you went to have a look for yourself, stopping in your tracks and look away with your hand over your lips. It was a sickening display as the Texan girl was concerned for your well being too, then waved gently as reassurance for Gutierrez.

Yasmina found a park personal walkie talkie under some broken wood planks. She immediately rummaging the broken pieces to pick up the gadget. "Hello! Hello?! Can anybody?—" only getting static through the speaker and began hitting the communication device, grunting and tossing it aside with a heavy sigh. "We're on our own..."

There's a moment of silence, the tension in the air was thick as you all stand or sit there unsure of what to do with all that's happened. Brooklyn shaking her head in frustration before groaning lowly and shouts. "Give me my phone!"

"What?" Sammy's eyes widen from her outburst.

"I don't care about you sneaking into Dr. Wu's lab, I don't about whatever you did with the skin samples you took from the Sinoceratops-"

Everyone's eyes were on the two over the "What?"

"What skin samples?"

"What were you doing in Dr. Wu's lab?"

"I don't even care that you stole it now. All I want to do is call for help! Where is it?!"

Sammy was at a loss for words, staring at the blogger girl in confusion and shock, "Uh, I..." she glanced at the others worriedly, "I..." she stuttered and returned to make eye contact with a distraught Brooklynn. She clenched her fist that once hovered over the pocket which holds the girl's phone.

"I don't even know what your talkin' about! Skin samples? Sneaking into labs? You made up some crazy thing in your own dang head!" Gutierrez scoffed with a glare and went to you all, the attention now on the Brooklynn. However, you couldn't help but sense something off in your Texan friend.

"Hey, back off. Not everything revolves around you and your phone!" Yasmina frowned and went to come face to face with the internet superstar. "It isn't Sammy's fault you lost it!"

"Would you guys please keep it down?! There's a big-"

Kenji groaning in annoyance. "A big, scary dinosaur? Of course, there's a big, scary dinosaur!" His arms crossed as he glared at the cowardly boy. "Do you even remember where we are, Benny? There are always big and scary dinosaurs!"

"And you're always a big-mouthed jerk!" Ben fumed, tired of the Asian's rude behavior towards him.

"Give it back!" Brooklynn frowned and reached out to the Texas teenager, but Yasmina got in front of Sammy and grabbed the blogger's wrist roughly. "Back off!"

"Yeah? Well, at least I don't play with crayons!"

"Kenji, stop-" you scolded the raven-haired boy.

"What is your problem with me?"

"I'm trying to get us all out of us this mess!" Brooklynn exclaimed in frustration.

"I didn't lie to you about it!" Sammy exclaimed defensively.

"Just stop!" Fadoula glaring daggers at the internet star, still standing by Sammy.

"Guys come on-" you sigh and continue trying to prevent them from carrying on this useless fighting.

"Money's not going to help any of us! No one is getting out of here! We just saw people get eaten! We're alone, we're defenseless... We're dead..."

"Ben, that's not true." You frown sadly, kneeling down and place your hand on his shoulder comfortingly.

"We're not giving up!" Darius spoke up suddenly to break the silence, all eyes on him.

"I get it... I know it's scary... This wasn't how it was supposed to be. Things aren't always going to go your way. Life is messy and sometimes... Things fall apart... But that's okay. Because when that happens, we pick up the pieces and keep going... And never give up."

"What about your necklace?" Brooklynn asks with a remorseful look hovered her features.

"it's not important. I've got the memories right here..." Darius placed his hand to where his heart was, you could tell though that he held some tears back.

"What are we supposed to do?"

"Head south to the park and find help... But it will only work if we do this together." You spoke up and went to stand next to the young boy confidently.

Darius couldn't help but smile a little at you for helping, you were always so supportive to him or others no matter what. Especially ever since you both first met a few days ago. "We're a team or we're nothing at all." Bowman concludes with a nod.

"...Or, you know, we don't go back into the jungle?" Ben suggested nervously, earning a scoff from Kon, who rolls his eyes and shook his head at the dirty blonde. "You can wait for the negligent babysitters, but I'm with Darius and Y/N."

"Wait, really?" Bowman's eyebrows rose in shock.

"You're serious?" You gaped in slight disbelief.

"Hey, there's no way I survived a dinosaur attack-"

The sound of wood snapping caught your attention and look up to see boards snap as they began to fall, then the three of you move out of the way with a yelp or gasp. Kon facepalming as he held a finger up with a scoff. "...Just to be taken out by cheap camp debris... Kenji ain't goin' out like that."

Your eyes rolling playfully, almost expecting those words to come out of him. But grateful for Kon's confidence in both her and Darius to lead them out of this mess. "We'll... We're going south. The rest of you coming or what?"

"I'm in." Brooklyn shrugs and walks over to the trio.

Yasmina glancing at Sammy as they share a quick exchange, then she nods and spoke up. "We're in, too." The two following the group as it is now Ben shrinking a little as he shook his head nervously, eying the camp with a shaky breath. "Um, but guys?"

You stop in your tracks and glance back to Pincus, then making eye contact with Darius to say that you'll get him. He gave you a quick nod and tells the group to stop first. You slowly walk over to the dirty blonde and hold your hand out for him to take. "Hey, come on... We can't stay here... and you won't be alone, Ben. You'll have me, Darius, and the others with you."

The young boy is hesitant, glancing around the place but sighs knowing you were right. Ben standing up and grabbing your hand as you help him up, the both of you going to the others and began to make your way through the island.

Okay, I know what you are all thinking. I haven't been updating this thing in a while, nor have I been on here lately. Heck even reading books. So, I'll answer your questions.

Will I discontinue the book?

No, I won't. But updates will be slow, so please be patient with me. Especially since I will be in College next year. Ugh, not ready at all...

Will I leave Wattpad?

No, as well. I'll still read, write, and be online from time to time but I will mostly be on my other platforms, so you can follow me there is I am not on here for updates. Okay?
