xx. truth or dare [1/2]

Info: You're supposed to have fun on a summer afternoon, right? Well...no. Not if outside are 40°C and you could literally melt in your shoes. So what would be the best way to get rid of the boredom? Simple. Play truth or dare with your friends.

Word count: 1677

Note(s): GUYS. This isn't going to be that kind of truth or dare stories where everyone asks everyone if they have crushes, or dare each other to kiss someone. The chapter is pretty much based on my own experience playing this game.

I tried to make this chapter funny. As I said; I tried.

Four groaning teenagers were laying down on the floor of the Diaz livingroom. Even the two fans that were surrounding them wasn't enough to make them less sweaty. Well, not that it was impossible anyway, but nothing so far seemed to cool them down. It was so hot outside that you were able to fry an egg on a rock. And inside was no better than that. Okay, maybe just a little since there were fans and all.

Mrs. Diaz walked into the room holding a plate with four-hopefully-ice-cold coke glasses. You could still see the ice cubes floating in them, so that was good.

"Hey kids...I brought you something to drink!"

The four rushed up to Mrs. Diaz as soon as she said "Hey kids". They know she always brings them drinks and snacks whenever they come over to hang out.

"Woah, easy there! You almost made me fall!", she laughed.

Marco took a slurp from his drink. "Sorry mom," he told her.

Mrs. Diaz smiled. "There's more coke and ice in the refrigerator if you want more, but I suggest you should drink water instead. You know, it's healthier."

"Thank you Mrs. Diaz!" Star exclaimed.

The older woman nodded in acknowledgement and left.

Somewhat cooled, the youths settled themselves cross-legged on the floor, facing each other.

"Your mom's so nice, Marco," Jackie said.

"Yeah, Diaz! You're lucky to have her," Janna added.

He held up a hand. "I know, I know. So now that we've cooled down a bit...how about we do something? Play a game perhaps?"

Janna grinned. "Hella! How about truth or dare? Or only dare if you're up to some mischief," she suggested, wiggling her eyebrows.

Marco frowned. "How about something that doesn't involve any physical activity?" (A/N: Marco is me)

The blunette rolled her eyes. "I'm not going to play your trash Monopoly again. Who's up for some truth or dare raise your hands."

Star and Jackie shifted their eyes from Janna to one another. They both shrugged and slowly raised their hands.

"So it's set."

Marco gave Janna a death glare. "That wasn't fair."

"That's how democracy works, Diaz. Deal with it."

"Okay! Who goes first?" Star asked excitedly, trying to kill the awkwardness. Everyone stared at each other and didn't say a word.

"I'll go," said Janna after an intense staring contest between her and Marco. "Star! Truth or dare?"

Star tapped her chin with a finger. "Dare, I guess."

Janna smirked. "I dare you to...um...go outside and sneak rocks into people's purses or backpacks."

"Easy!" the princess grinned.

"Woah, hold on! Are we really going to go outside?! In that drought?!" Marco complained, pointing with his finger at a window.

"Shut up, dude. It's a dare." Janna stood up, shortly followed by Star and Jackie. "Let's go, girls." She spun around to take a probably final look down at Marco. "I honestly don't care if you come or not, but it would be a pity to miss out all the fun." She put her hands on her hips and smirked at him. "Besides...it would also be lame to just lay here on your own until we come back."

The Latino dragged a hand down his face and groaned. Sometimes he wondered how he became friends with Janna. ...actually, if he thought about it, it was either Star or Jackie who always invited her to hang out with them. But he had to admit...sometimes it was fun to have her around...ugh-no! Keep it together, Diaz! "Fine, fine! I'm coming. Ugh."

"Oh, I knew you couldn't resist my charm." Janna placed a hand over her heart and acted all dramatic, while two blonde girls could be heard losing it in the background. Marco shook his head and stood up. He was so going to regret it.

"Oh my God! I told you we should bring a water bottle or something! I feel so...dishydrated..."

Janna rolled her eyes. They have been outside for only two minutes and Marco couldn't shut up already. Two whole minutes...can you believe that. And it wasn't even that hot. "Chill it, you drama queen." She rubbed the bridge of her nose and continued on with walking, not bothering to listen to Marco's further complaints. The thing was, Star needed to find some rocks before the fun could start, and in order to find any, they had to go to the park.

When they finally arrived, Marco literally passed out on the grass.

Jackie put her hands on her hips and shook her head. "Dude...are you serious..." she commented.

Marco muttered a "sorry" with his face still buried in grass. Jackie chuckled and helped him stand up. "Let's get you some water...there's the fountain." She pointed towards the water source. "Think you can manage that?"

The Latino glanced in that direction and nodded slowly. "Yeah...yeah."

Jackie turned her head to her friends. "You go ahead! We'll join you soon enough."

Star and Janna nodded and skipped side by side further into the park.

A couple of minutes later, the teenagers regrouped in the center of the park. Marco looked a lot better after he drank like four liters of water. Jackie was curious how long his bladder could last... The other two girls were both carrying a bunch of various-sized rocks with them.

"You ready, Star?" Jackie asked the princess.

"Yeah! Time to choose my victims..." Star's face split into a wide, evil grin by the time she finished her sentence.

Janna's smile grew wider, while the only thing Marco could do was watch and hope nothing was going to go wrong. Or at least...not completely wrong. The Latino gulped. Oh boy, here we go...

The four teenagers were panting heavily as they finally came to a halt. They all dropped to their knees and held onto their aching stomaches.

"What the heck just happened..." Marco blurted out.

"What a chase, huh?" Jackie laughed.

"Who would have thought..." Janna began, "...that an old lady could outrun us...but whatever. Jackie. I guess a dare would be out of question right now..."

The short-haired blonde nodded. "Yeah...hit me up with questions," she finished her sentence as she stood up.

The rest of the squad slowly stood up as well.

"Um...are you a dog person or a cat person?" Janna questioned her friend.

"Doggos for the win!" Jackie answered confidently.

"Rad." Janna leaned her back against a nearby tree. "Marco. Truth or dare?"

"...truth," said Marco.

"Laaaaame. But oh well." Janna smirked. "Have you ever touched wet food in the sink? If yes, how was it?" On second thought, maybe it wasn't such a good idea to ask him...that. She was aware how gross her question sounded, but the thing was-she only wanted to know if other people have experienced the same thing she accidentally did once.

Before Marco could even open his mouth, Star jumped in front of him and started to wave her hands excitedly. "Oh, oh! Can I answer that for him?"

Janna shrugged. "Sure."

"Star-"

"Last Friday night, as I was killing time in my room, I heard a girlish scream coming from downstairs. So, startled, I grabbed my wand and rushed down the stairs only to find Marco curled up into a ball on the kitchen floor with his phone against his ear, saying Yes hello, emergencies? I've just touched wet food in the sink and I'd like to have my arm amputated. I laughed for twenty minutes straight."

As soon as Star finished her sentence, Jackie and Janna instantly burst into an uncontrollable laughter. Star covered her mouth with her hand in order to cover her giggles and make Marco less embarrassed. It turned out to be futile, as Marco's cheeks literally turned red.

"You-you would have acted the same!" he yelled in defense.

Jackie wiped at her tears. "Yeah...yeah, I guess. Sorry. That was just too funny."

Janna took a deep calming breath and stretched her arms. "Okay, I'm done. Jackie, it's your turn," she told her friend.

The girl nodded. "Alright, losers. It's Jackie Time. Janna, truth or dare?"

Janna shrugged. "Pshhh, dare of course."

"I always suck at dares. Uh...um-yeah. Hold on. I dare you to...go to the supermarket and...jump into a random person's cart and yell push me!"

"Okay."

"Uh..." Marco slowly raised his hand. "Isn't the supermarket on the other side of the town?" he asked.

"Crap," said Janna. "I don't wanna go all the way there now that I think about it."

Jackie put her hands on her hips. "I'm sorry, but that's all I got," she said.

Star brought her wand up to her mouth and started chewing on it. How could they get there without actually having to walk. Hold on...without having...to...walk...oh. Right. The wand. "I could use my wand!" she said, waving her wand in the air.

"Great! You could summon some flying creature or something!" Janna seemed way more excited than usual.

"Good idea!"
