That night, Star kept thinking about Janna's confession from earlier. She kept thinking about the kisses they'd shared. About the numerous dates and sweet conversations they'd had. All of those things...were supposed to be fake.

Fake fake fake.

But...for how long? What was their goal? Did they even have one?

And how many times did she enjoy being in Janna's company? Didn't those things matter to her? Like, at all? Janna was so nice to her all the time. She made her feel...special, and loved, and important. Janna cared about her. A lot, actually, and Star felt bad for...not noticing it earlier.

But...they were only following the script...that was all! It was only theater, a play. It wasn't real. It wasn't supposed to be real.

...or was it?

Well, she did almost kiss Janna the day before. But that time...it felt...natural? As if she WANTED the kiss to happen? As if...the idea of being with Janna was kinda appealing-

Okay, maybe that's too much overthinking for one night, she told herself.

It was probably for the best if she just pushed those thoughts to the back of her head and just drifted off to sleep instead.

That same night, Janna woke up to the sound of her phone ringing. She didn't even bother to read the contact's name as she picked up the device and brought it to her ear. "Dude...do you realize it's like...2 AM?" Her eyes were still closed as she spoke.

"I can't sleep." The voice was soft. Janna instantly recognized it and almost choked on air.

"S-Star?"

The princess didn't respond.

Janna furrowed her brows. "Everything okay?" She tried to play cool.

Star cleared her throat. "Yeah, um...could you...come over?"

"W-what? Right now?"

"Please," said Star with a sigh.

Janna nodded, even though she knew Star couldn't see her do so. "Alright." She opened her eyes and lazily slid out of her bed. "I'll be there in ten. See you...soon."

"See you."

Just as she said, Janna came over about ten minutes later. In her own way, of course, which included a grappling hook and a lot of effort to climb up to Star's balcony. She noticed Star laying on her bed staring at her phone and cleared her throat, event which caught the princess' attention. Star looked up at her with a puzzled expression on her face. She had no idea how Janna was able to climb all the way up to her balcony. She simply watched her friend crawl into her bed timidly.

Star sighed heavily as Janna settled herself across her. "So..." she began, rubbing the tips of her fingers together.

Janna hugged her legs and rested her chin on her knees. The only thing she could do was listen and hope for the best. She slowly nodded her head. "Go on..."

"First of all - I'm...sorry for...running off like that. I shouldn't have. I guess I was sorta caught off guard by your sudden confession."

"No, Star, I should be the one apologizing. It was me who brought you into this mess. L-Look...I might have said things today, but...I wasn't so sure about them. But I'm fine now! So how about we forget about everything and go back to being...just friends?"

Star frowned and ran a hand through her hair, gripping on it like there was no tomorrow. Janna didn't mean it. She couldn't possibly mean it...not when Star finally felt the same. No. Janna was lying. She liked her...Star knew it. Her eyes betrayed her.

A tear ran down the princess' face, followed by another. And another. And another. She tried to make them stop, but she...couldn't. She lowered her head and wiped at the tears with her hands.

"Woah, S-Star!" Janna reached out to grab the blonde's hands. "Why are you crying?! Oh my God, I'm so sorry! Ugh-damn it!" Why was it so hard for Janna to hide her feeling around Star? "I lied, okay?! I...I do have a crush on you, and...well, I didn't know how to feel about at first, because I knew you liked Marco and not me, but then...it all became some sort of competition between me and myself, trying to get you to like me instead of him-okay, this is getting super weird...are you happy now?!"

Star's lips curled into a tiny smile and she looked up at Janna. Without warning, she leaned forward and...kissed Janna??

However, the kiss didn't last long and Star backed away, not even giving Janna the chance to kiss back. Kinda disappointing...but still. Star kissed her. She couldn't move.

The blonde smiled sweetly at Janna, making her blush even more.

Janna blinked. "Star, you just..."

"Got what I wanted? Oh-you mean-kissed you? Yeah, that too," said Star with a smirk etched across her face.

"Wait-that was a trick?! You just-oh my God!-I'm taking my words back!"

"Oh please, I'm pretty sure be both know you meant them."

Janna held up a finger in protest. She opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out. She stood there with her mouth open until Star had to shut it for her. "See?"

"Woah, chill it, Satan. I'm still thinking of a comeback. Just wait for it."

"Yeah. Sure."

Janna rubbed the back of her neck and looked away. This is getting awkward, she thought.

"Janna," Star said softly. Okay, so far so good. "look," Shit. "I've never, ever in my life thought I'd end up dating a girl. If you're okay with it, and if you still want it, of course, then...I'd gladly try this thing out with you."

"Star...you mean..."

"You-you know...a real relationship. I-If you're okay with it!"

"You already said that," Janna pointed out. "As for my answer..." she sighed before smiling and responding with "I'd love to."

Star's lips curled into a smile. She leaned forward and wrapped her arms around Janna's neck, pulling her into a hug. "Janna..." she whispered into the girl's ear. The blunette didn't even get a chance to hug back. She blinked. "Uhhh, yeah?"

"Could you stay for the night?" Star asked in a playful voice.

"Of course, Princess."

The next morning, Star woke up only to find herself all wrapped up in Janna's arms, with the girl's head resting on the crook of her neck. They weren't facing each other, but if they were, Star would have probably kissed Janna right then and there, not caring if she woke her up or not.

"Hey...you awake?" Janna's whisper made Star jump slightly. "Oh, s-sorry! Did I just wake you up?"

"No, no, it's okay. I was already awake. You scared me, that's all."

"Ah, alright. But still, sorry for that."

"Don't worry about it. So...today's Saturday."

"Yup. Got any plans?"

Star nodded her head. "We were supposed to hang out with Marco and Jackie today...you know...make Marco jealous and stuff, but...can we skip that and continue on with our lazy afternoon?"

"You didn't even have to bother asking." Janna placed a small kiss on Star's neck. "I really like you, Star."

"I know."

OK, I know I said I would post the 3rd part on Monday along with another one-shot, but that one is going to be published sometime on Tuesday or Wednesday, and I decided not to make you wait. So yeah.
