(yes ana will be in this chapter, HOWEVER, me personally idk why, but i don't know where to put her, so she will most likely be sleeping the entire chapter. or something like that, just go with it, thanks)

A woman runs through the woods away from the cabin. She staggers onto the road, where a car is approaching. "Stop!" She calls out, as she stands in the middle of the road, with her hands out.

"Holy!" Dean says as he stops the Impala just in front of her.

"You've got to help me." The woman says as she goes to the passenger side and pounds on the window, which startled Ana who was sleeping in the backseat. Sam rolls down the window. "Please. Please!"

"Alright, alright. Calm down, calm down. Tell us what happened." Sam says as Ana holds her head, as she tries not to fall asleep.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The brothers have parked the Impala by the road and all three of them are standing around it, as Ana is the only one that isn't outside as she went back to bed.

"I-I swerved, a-and we crashed. And when I came to, the car was wrecked, and my husband was missing. I went looking for him, and that's when the man from the road, he... he started chasing me." The woman explains.

"Did he look like he lost a fight with a lawn mower?" Dean asked.

"How did you know that?" The woman asked.

"Lucky guess." Dean says.

"Ma'am, what's your name?" Sam asked.

"Molly. Molly McNamara." The woman says, as Sam exchanges a look with Dean.

"I think maybe you should come with us. We'll take you back into town." Sam says.

"I can't. I have to find David. He might have gone back to the car." Molly says.

"We should get you somewhere safe first. Then Dean and I will come back. We'll look for your husband." Sam says.

"No, I'm not leaving here without him. Would you just take me back to my car, please?" Molly asked.

"Of course. Come on." Sam says, as they get back in the car.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The Impala parks by the woods near the crash side. They get out, minus Ana. Molly is leading the brothers into the woods. "It's right over there." Molly says, as they come upon the crash site, but the car is gone. "I don't understand. I'm sure this is where it was. W-we hit that tree right there. This... this doesn't make any sense." Molly says as she goes to investigate, as she is out of earshot.

"Dean, we got to get out of here. Greeley could show up at any second." Sam says.

"What are you gonna tell her?" Dean asked her.

"The truth?" Sam says like it was obvious.

"She's gonna take off running in the other direction." Dean says.

"I know it sounds crazy, but I crashed into that tree. I don't know who could've taken it. It was totaled. Please. You have to believe me." Molly says.

"Molly, listen, we do believe you. But that's why we want to get you out of here." Sam says.

"What about David? Something must have happened. I have to get to the cops." Molly says.

"Cops, that's a great idea. We'll take you down to the station ourselves. So, just come with us. It's the best way we can help you and your husband." Dean says.

"Okay." Molly says as the comes back up.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The car is driving down the road, as Molly is in the backseat with a sleeping Ana. "We're supposed to be in Lake Tahoe." Molly says.

"You and David?" Sam asked her.

"It's our five-year anniversary." Molly says.

"A hell of an anniversary." Dean commented.

"Right before, we were having the dumbest fight." Molly says as she lets out a sigh. "It was the only time we ever really argued... when we were stuck in the car." Molly tells the brothers.

"Yeah, I know how that goes." Sam says laughing as Dean gave his brother a look.

"You know the last thing I said to him? I called him a jerk. Oh, God. What if that's the last thing I said to him?" Molly says.

"Molly... we're gonna figure out what happened to your husband. I promise." Sam says as he turned to face her.

Just then the radio starts making odd noises, then plays, 'House of the Rising Sun', Dean frowns at it. "Did you --?"

"No." Sam says to his brother.

"I was afraid you'd say that and because Ana is in the backseat sleeping." Dean says.

"This song..." Molly says.

"What?" Dean asked.

"It was playing when we crashed." Molly says as the radio crackles again and settles on another station. A creepy voice can be heard.

"She's mine. She's mine. She's mine." The voice says.

"What is that?" Molly asked as just then Greeley appears in the middle of the road. Dean floors it straight at him, which made Ana stir awake.

"Hold on." Dean says, as he drives straight into Greeley, who vanishes into a puff of smoke.

"What the... What the hell just happened?" Molly asked.

"Don't worry, Molly. Everything's gonna be alright." Sam says, as just then the Impala begins to shudder.

"Spoke a little too soon, Sammy." Dean says as the Impala coasts to a stop on the side of the road. Ana rubs her head with a yawn. Dean tries to start the car again but the ignition sputters. "I don't think he's gonna let her leave."

Ana sits up from the backseat, as she looks around confused, as her brain didn't process that Molly was in the car. "B-baby, what's wrong?" Ana asked Dean.

"The car broke down baby." Dean says. "You can go back to bed."

"Okay..." Ana says as she pressed a soft kiss on his cheek.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The brother and Molly exit the car. "This can't be happening." Molly says.

"Well... trust me. It's happening." Dean says, as he opens the trunk and starts pulling out weaponry. Molly comes around and sees the arensal, and slowly backs away.

"Well, okay. Thanks for helping, but I think I got it covered from here." Molly says.

"Waitt. Molly, Molly, wait a minute." Sam says as he goes after her.

"Just leave me alone." Molly says.

"No, no, no. Please. You have to listen to me." Sam says.

"Just stay away." Molly says as she turns and starts to leave.

"It wasn't a coincidence that we found you, alright?" Sam tells her.

"What are you talking about?" Molly says as she stops and turns back.

"We weren't just cruising for chicks when we ran into you, sister. We were already out here. Hunting." Dean says.

"Hunting for what?" Molly asked.

"Ghosts." Dean says

"D...d... don't sugarcoat it for her." Sam says exasperated.

"You're nuts." Molly says.

"Really? About as nuts as a vanishing you with his guts spilling out. You know what you saw." Dean says to her.

"We think his name is Jonah Greeley. He was a local farmer that died fifteen years ago, on this highway." Sam says.

"Just... stop." Molly says.

"One night a year, on the anniversary of his death, he haunts this road. That's why we're here, Molly. To try and stop him." Sam says.

"Now, I suppose this... ghost made my car disappear, too." Molly says sarcastically.

"Crazier things have happened, huh?" Dean says.

"You know what? I'm all filled up on crazy. I'm gonna get the cops myself." Molly says.

"I don't mean to be harsh, but I don't think you're gonna get too far." Dean says.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Molly asked.

"Means that Plan A was trying to get you out of here. Obviously, that didn't go over too well with, uh, Farmer Roadkill." Dean says to Molly.

"Molly, we're telling the truth. Greeley's not gonna let you leave this highway." Sam says.

"You're s... you're serious about this aren't you?" Molly asked the two.

"Deadly." Dean says.

"Every year, Greeley finds someone to punish for what happened to him. Tonight, that person is you." Sam says.

"Why me? I didn't do anything." Molly says.

"Doesn't matter. Some spirits only see what they want." Sam says.

"So, you're saying this... Greeley, he took my husband? Oh God." Molly says.

"Molly, look, we're gonna help, alright? But first, you gotta help us." Sam says to her.

"Help you? How?" Molly asked.

───※ ·❆· ※───

Molly has lead them back to the cabin where she saw Greeley. "This is it. This is where I saw him."

"Must have been his hunting cabin." Dean says as he sees vicious tools hanging, and a bloodstained table. "Huh. Seemed like a real sweet guy." Dean says as he knew that if Ana was awake and with them, that she'd laugh at his sarcastic joke.

"No markers, or headstones outside." Sam says.

"You're looking for Greeley's grave?" Molly asked the two.

"Yeah." Sam replies.

"Why?" Molly asked.

"So, we can dig up the corpse and salt and burn it." Dean says.

"Oh, sure naturally." Molly says.

"It's a way to get rid of a spirit." Sam says.

"And that'll save David?" Molly asked.

"Well, this is what'll help both of you, provided there's a corpse to be found." Sam says.

"So, how do we find it?" Molly asked.

"I'm not sure. After Greeley died, his wife claimed the body. And that was the lalst anyone saw of her. So, good guess, she brought him back here. But they had a thousand acres. He could be anywhere on 'em." Sam says.

"So, this is really what you guys do? You're like Ghostbusters?" Molly asked.

"Yeah." Sam says.

"Minus the jumpsuits." Dean says. "This is a fascinating conversation and all, but this highway is only haunted once a year, and we got till sun-up to wrap this thing up. What do you say we move it along, okay? Great." Dean says as the three of them go outside and continue their search.

"What are we looking for?" Molly asked.

"Greeley's house. Maybe he's buried there. Look for roads or paths or something. Stay close." Sam says.

"Yeah, okay." Molly says, as she hears a voice.

"Molly? Molly, help me. Molly?" The voice says, as it sounded like David's voice, but it was actually Greeley, as it was a trap.

"David? David? David!" Molly calls out as she goes in search of the voice, but Greeley appears and grabs her and she screams.

Dean points his shotgun at Greeley. "Whoops." Dean says as he shoots Greeley in the head and he dissipates.

"Hey! Are you alright?" Sam asked as he ran towards them.

"What has that son of a bitch done with my husband?" Molly asked.

"Just take it easy, alright? You're gonna see David again. You will." Sam says.

"Hey!" Dean calls as he points to something ahead of them. "Follow the creepy brick road."

Sam gestures Molly to follow Dean, as Sam takes up the rear. "Go ahead." Sam says.

"That thing shoots rock salt?" Molly asked.

"Yep." Sam says.

"And plain salt keeps away spirits?" Molly asked.

"Simple remedies are always the best. In most cultures, salt's a symbol of purity, so it repels impure and unnatural things. Same reason you throw it over your shoulder." Sam says as they round the corner and sees a creepy house.

"You know, just once I'd like to round the corner and see a nice house." Dean says, as Sam and Molly enter the house, as Dean stays outside to look around.

"Any headstones outside?" Sam asked.

"Yeah, right. Is it ever that easy?" Dean asked.

"I guess not." Sam says.

"You two check upstairs. See, if you can find any notes or records telling us where he's buried. I'll just check down here." Dean says as Molly and Sam go upstairs, they find a room strewn with papers.

"Great." Sam grumbles as he starts to go through the papers. Molly finds an old scrapbook by the window and opens it.

"Look at this." Molly says as she takes the scrapbook to the bed and sits down, as Sam joins her. "It's Greeley and his wife." Molly says as Sam turns a few pages. "It's a love letter he wrote her. My god, it's beautiful. I don't understand how a guy like this can turn into that monster."

"Um... spirits like Greeley are, uh... like wounded animals. Lost. In so much pain that... they lash out." Sam tells her as she nods her head.

"Why? Why are they were?" Molly asked.

"Well, there's some part of them that... that's keeping them here. Like their remains, um... unfinished business." Sam says.

"Unfinished business?" Molly asked.

"Yeah. Uh, it could be revenge. Could be love. Or hate. Whatever it is, they just hold on too tight. Can't let go. So, they're trapped. Caught in the same loops. Replaying the same tragedies over and over." Sam says.

"You sound almost sorry for them." Molly says.

"Well, they weren't evil people, you know? A lot of them were good. Just... something happened to them. Something they couldn't control." Sam says.

Dean is in the doorway of the room that Molly and Sam are in. "Sammy's always getting a little J. Love Hewitt when it comes to things like this. Me, I don't like the. And I sure as h ell ain't making apologies for 'em. There's nothing downstairs. You find anything?" Dean asked.

"Uh, just about every piece of mail or receipt they ever had. Looked through a couple, but nothing about a grave so far." Sam says as Dean investigates a wall. "What?"

"There's something behind here." Dean says as he tosses his flashlight to Sam. "Here." Dean says as he moves a cabinet aside, revealing a small hidden door. He pokes at it. "It's locked from the inside." Dean says as he turns around, he throws a back kick at the door, which does nothing. He looks surprised, then braces himself and kicks harder. The door falls inward. They crawl through. Once in the room, they brush away cobwebs to stand up. "It smells like old lady in here." He says as he then finds a corpse hanging by the neck from the ceiling. "And that would explain why. Well, now we know why nobody ever saw her again.

"She didn't want to live without him." Molly says.

Sam picks a chair as if to take down the corpse. "Dean, give me a hand."

"Really?" Dean asked his brother.

"What are you gonna do?" Molly asked.

"We can't leave her like this." Sam tells his brother.

"Why not?" Dean asked.

"She deserves to be put to rest, Dean." Sam says as Dean reluctantly agrees.

Sam stands on the chair and begins to cut through the rope as Dean steadies the corpse. "Son of a bitch..." Dean says as the smell of holding the corpse.

Dean and Sam are digging a grave for Greeley's wife. "So... so, if you manage to put Greeley to rest, too... what happens to them?"

"Lady, that answer is way beyond our pay grade." Dean says.

"You hunt these things, but you don't know what happens to them?" Molly asked.

"Well, they never come back. That's all that matters." Dean says.

Sam sees that this answer has not satisfied her. "After they let go of whatever's keeping them here, they... they just go. I hope someplace better, but we don't know. No one does." Sam says.

"What happens when you burn their bones?" Molly asked.

"Umm, well, my dad used to say that was like death for ghosts, you know? But... the truth is, we still don't know. Not for sure." Sam says as he looks at Dean. "Guess, that's why we all hold on to life so hard. Even the dead. We're all just scared of the unknown."

"The only thing I'm scared of is losing David. I have to see him again." Molly says, before she continues. "I have to."

───※ ·❆· ※───

Molly is pacing in one room, looking through the photo album. Sam and Dean are waiting in another room nearby. "I think we should tell her about her husband." Sam says sighing.

"We can't." Dean says.

"Dean, it's cruel, letting her pine for him like this. I don't like keeping her in the dark." Sam says.

"It's for her own good." Dean says as he gets up. "Man, I know you feel guilty, alright? But let's just stick to the plan. Let's get her out of here. Then we'll tell her." Dean says.

Molly approaches the brothers as she caught what Dean had last said, 'then we'll tell her'. "Tell me what? What aren't you telling me? It's about David. You know what happened to him."

"Molly--" Sam says but he gets cut off by Dean

"Sam, don't." Dean says to him.

"Don't what? Don't tell me because I'll mess up your hunt? You don't care about me or my husband." Molly says.

"That's not true." Sam says to Molly/

"Really? Then whatever it is, tell me, please." Molly says as he had opened his mouth to say something then a radio turns on, which is followed by static, then the song, 'House of the Rising Sun', begins to play. "He's coming." Molly says.

"Stay with her." Dean says to Sam as he goes cautiously towards the sound.

He uncovers the dusty radio that has powered itself on. He crouches down and finds a broken, frayed power cord. He hears another noise and goes toward the front door. It frosts over and the words, 'SHE'S MINE', appears in the frost.

In the other room, Molly is standing by the window. Sam steps cautiously forward towards the next room. Suddenly a figure crashes through the window behind Molly and grabs her. She screams as she is dragged outside. Dean comes running back when he hears Molly screaming.

"He's got Molly!" Sam says as they both leap through the window and chase them through the woods. They lose sight of them and return to the house.

"This guy is persistent." Dean says.

"We gotta find Molly." Sam says.

"We gotta find Greeley's bones. And, uh, no pressure or anything, but we got less than two hours before sunrise." Dean says to his brother.

Sam looks through the photo album. "Hey."

"What do you got?" Dean asked.

Sam re-reads the caption on a photograph. "February 6, 1992."

"That was like two weeks before the accident, wasn't it?" Dean asked as Sam nods his head.

"Yeah, I mean, it looks like the hunting cabin, but... I swear there's a tree there right where they're standing. I should've thought of it."

"What?" Dean asked.

"It's an old country custom Dean. Planting a tree as a grave marker." Sam says.

"You're like a walking encyclopedia of weirdness." Dean says.

"Yeah, I know." Sam grumbles under his breath.

───※ ·❆· ※───

Molly is hanging from the ceiling by her wrists. "Where's David? What did you do to him?" Molly asked him.

"You shouldn't worry about him anymore." Greeley says.

"Oh, my God." Molly says.

"You should worry about yourself." Greeley says.

"I didn't do anything to you." Molly says.

"Oh?" Greeley says, as he runs his filthy hand over her face.

"I know... I know about your wife. Hurting me won't bring her back." Molly says.

"My wife is gone. All I got left's... hurting you." Greeley says, as he slides a finger across her collarbone, which is slicing flesh, as she screams.

"P-Please. Just let me go." Molly says whimpering.

"Go? You're not gonna leave. You're never... gonna leave." Greeley says as he drags a finger across her stomach, gouging deep, as she screams in pain. Sam and Dean approach the cabin from outside. They're carrying shovels, from the car.

"Go get Molly." Sam tells Dean as Dean heads inside; Sam begins to dig around the tree.

Inside, Greeley is approaching Molly menacingly when his hand explodes in a shotgun burst, which reveals Dean behind him, as Molly gasps.

"Oh, thank God." Molly says.

"Yeah, call me Dean." Dean says smiling at her. Greeley appears behind Dean, who turns to face him. Greeley gestures and Dean cries out, as a cut appears on his cheek. "This guy's really pissing me off."

Dean is struggling against the wall; Greeley reaches out and a knife flies into his hand. Greeley approaches Dean with the knife. Greeley and Dean struggle. Sam empties a container of gasoline into the grave, lights a match and drops it in. Greeley freezes and rears back in pain, screaming, 'No, no." The corpse in the grave catches fire and burns. Greeley burns into flames, is consumed, and disappears. The knife falls to the floor.

───※ ·❆· ※───

Dean, Sam and Molly approach the impala, where Ana is awake now. Dean pats the car lovingly. "Oh, baby, it's been a long night." Dean drops his bag in the back, then climbs in the driver's seat, as Ana is in the passenger's seat. Sam and Molly get into the backseat.

"Alright, let's get you out of here." Sam says.

"I'm not going anywhere until you tell me what happened to my husband." Molly says.

"Molly..." Sam says.

"All this time... I've been looking for him, and you knew that... You knew that Greeley killed him, didn't you? He's dead."

"No, Molly. David's alive." Sam says.

"What? You're sure?" Molly asked as Sam nods his head.

"We're sure. We'll take you to him. Come on." Sam says, as Molly smiles in relief, as she gets into the car.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The car pulls up in front of a nice suburban house. The lights are on inside. "He's in that house, right there." Sam says.

"I don't understand." Molly says.

"You will." Sam says as the four of them get out of the car.

Molly approaches the window and can see David inside the house. He is older, wearing a bathrobe, and pouring a cup of coffee. "That's... not... it can't be." Molly says as Ana and the brothers are watching Molly. They share a look. David looks up and a woman in a bathrobe comes up to him, kissing him on the lips. "What's happening?" Molly asked, as she turns back to the three of them. "Who is that?" She asked.

"That's David's wife." Ana says as Molly turns back to look at the house again, then back to Sam, Dean and Ana. "I'm sorry, Molly. Fifteen-years ago, you and your husband hit Jonah Greeley with your car. David survived."

"What are you saying?" Molly asked the redhead.

"She's saying there isn't just one spirit haunting Highway 41. There are two, Jonah Greeley and you." Dean says

"For the past fifteen years, one night a year you've been appearing on that highway." Ana says.

"No, that's not possible. It was our anniversary... February 22nd--" Molly says.

"1992." Ana finishes.

"Yes." Molly says.

"Molly, it's 2007." Ana says.

"Oh, God." Molly says.

───※ ·❆· ※───

flashback

"Alright, baby, tell me about Highway 41." Dean asked Ana.

"Uh, 12 accidents over 15 years. Five of them fatal, all of them happening on the same night." Ana says to Dean.

"So, what are we looking at... Interstate dead zone? Phantom hitchhiker? What?" Dean asked.

"Not quite. Year after year, witnesses said the same thing made them crash. A woman appearing in the middle of the road, being chased by a man covered in blood." Ana says as Sam nods his head.

"Two spooks?" Dean asked.

───※ ·❆· ※───

The three of them are at a library doing research. Ana finds old newspaper articles referring to Molly and Jonah's deaths.

───※ ·❆· ※───

"Now, where is Molly buried?" Dean asked.

"She... she wasn't buried anywhere. She was cremated." David says.

The three of them leave of them exit David's house. "So, much for burning her bones." Dean says.

"Yeah, but what's keeping her here?"  Ana asked Dean.

───※ ·❆· ※───

Molly runs out onto the road, stopping the Impala. "Stop! Stop!" Molly calls out as the Impala stops. "You have to help me!"

"Dean, I don't think she knows she's dead." Sam says.

"Please!" Molly says as she bangs on Sam's car window. "Open up! Please!"

"Okay, okay. Alright, alright. Just calm down. Tell us what happened." Sam tells her.

───※ ·❆· ※───

"What are you gonna tell her?" Dean asked.

"The truth." Sam replies.

"She's gonna take off running, in the other direction." Dean says.

───※ ·❆· ※───

"Some spirits hold on too tight. Can't let go." Sam tells Molly.

end of flashback

───※ ·❆· ※───

"And Greeley?" Molly asked.

"Each year, he punishes somebody for his death... ah, chasing them, torturing them, and each year, that somebody is you." Ana says.

"But I don't remember any of it." Molly says.

"Because you couldn't see the truth, Molly." Sam says.

"So, that's why he won't let me off the highway. Because... I killed him. I killed us both." Molly says as she sits on the doorsteps. "Why didn't you tell me when you first saw me? Why wait until now?" Molly asked.

"You wouldn't have believed us." Dean says, as he has an arm around Ana.

"And you needed me as bait." Molly says to Dean.

"Well, we needed you." Sam says.

"David." Molly says.

"Molly, we brought you so you could move on." Ana says, as even though Ana was asleep during all of this, Dean and Sam caught her up.

"I have to tell him--" Molly says as Ana shook her head.

"Tell him what? That you love him? That you're sorry? Molly, he already knows that. Look, if you want to go in there, we're not gonna stop you. But you are gonna freak him right out. For life." Ana says to her.

"David's already said his goodbyes, Molly. Now it's your turn. This is your unfinished business." Sam says.

"What am I supposed to do?" Molly asked.

"Just... let go. Of David. Of everything. You do that... we think you'll move on." Sam says.

"But you don't know where." Molly says crying, as Ana's head is on Dean's shoulder, that and she's trying to keep herself from falling back asleep, even if Dean told her that she could.

"No, but Molly, you don't belong here. Haven't you suffered long enough? It's time. It's time to let go." Sam says.

Molly nods sadly, then steps slowly away from the house. She turns her face upwards as the first light of dawn creeps over the rooftops. Bathed in light, she becomes part of the light and she vanishes.

"I guess, she wasn't so bad... for a ghost. You think she's really going to a better place?" Dean asked as a yawn escaped from Ana's lips.

"I hope so." Sam says.

"I guess we'll never know. Not until we take the plunge ourselves, huh?" Dean says.

"Doesn't really matter, Dean. Hope's kind of the whole point." Sam says.

"Alright, Haley Joel." Dean says as he smacks Sam on the shoulder. "Let's hit the road."

The three of them cross the road and get back in the impala as a light rain begins to fall. "Can I get food?"

"What is with you asking for food?" Sam asked as Ana gave him a glare.

"Well, sorry, if I was sleeping." Ana grumbled to the youngest Winchester as Dean pressed a kiss on the top of her head.

"Let's go before you get cranky." Dean says as she thumped him on the back of his head. "Annie, I mean it." Dean says as Ana blew raspberries at him, which made him smile. "I love you, sweetheart."

"Love you too." Ana says as they shared a kiss, not caring at all of Sam at the moment.
