How To Ruin A Casual Dinner Party

The worst thing someone could say, apparently, at a dinner party wasn't something condescending. Nor sexual. Nor announcing something that should've been announced at a more appropriate time. Not even completely dismissing the food.

Raven and her boyfriend, Damian, had mutually agreed for Damian to meet Raven's father in a formal setting. Raven knew her father could be intimidating, as he had a known criminal history. But he was okay now. He was slowly reforming himself into an actual member of Jump, instead of a crime lord. So her inviting Damian to have dinner with them had seemed like a good idea... at the time.

Now, it wasn't her father that ruined the dinner, he was surprisingly accepting, and really seemed to approve of the seventeen year old. Damian appeared to know exactly what to say to make Trigon like him. And, half an hour in, Damian already had Trigon pegged. Trigon took a huge interest in him, so what could it have been that ruined this dinner?

Well, it started with salt.

Raven's chicken had been a bit.. Tasteless, to say the least. She wanted the salt, but it was in the middle of the table, where she was unable to reach. So, obviously, she would've asked for the salt from one of the other two people.

"Daddy, can you pass the salt?"

Now, of course Raven wasn't of the type to call her father by that name, but there were visitors. Let's be honest. Who ever acts the same way around visitors?

Was Damian an imbecile? Did he really believe Raven's statement was referring to him? Well, apparently so, because Trigon wasn't the only one who stretched over himself to provide Raven with her request for salt.

Raven glared at Damian, who glared at Trigon; Who glared at Raven. The table was simply full of people eyeballing each other. Trigon wasn't stupid. He knew what was implied by the action. And he didn't like it one bit.

Raven chuckled nervously in an attempt to pass off the situation, but Trigon still glowered at her boyfriend.

"Go. Before I have to resort to my past ways." Her furious father muttered. And he was completely serious.

Damian quickly scurried out of his chair, said his goodbyes to the both of them, then hurried out the door before Trigon's words could be fulfilled.

This goes without being said, but Trigon could never look at his daughter, nor her apparent other "daddy" the same way again.
