There were so many things going on in Jayden's head. Not to forget, he just saw Leo coming out from Jewel's room.

Friend and visitor coming out from his baby sister's room. He didn't like the sight at all. Moreover, with what he had heard from Leo in the past, seeing that he wasn't comfortable at all.

This development was never supposed to happen. Leo and his sister weren't friends before now, and he wanted it to remain that way. Because whatever it was that was going of between them, was going to complicate his relationship with Leo, and he didn't want that. For the first time, he actually had a friend.

Jayden looks at Leo one last time, before turning to his laptop. The fact the atmosphere seemed very tensed was undeniable. Ever since they got into the room, neither of them had said a word to the other.

"This holiday seems like it's going to be a boring one for me." Leo suddenly says, making Jayden turn to him with a raised eyebrow before looking down.

He had a lot of question he wanted to ask, this wasn't one of them. The difficulty was bringing up the topic.
It was only going to make their conversation more awkward.

"About what you saw, it's not what you think it is!" Leo suddenly blurts out, more like he had been holding it, and couldn't wait to let it out, because of the way he took a breath.

Jayden only looks at him, and looks down.

"I know, it looks like I am using our friendship to get to your sister, but I swear it's not like that." Leo blurts out, staring at Jayden, who doesn't utter a word. He knew deep down his silence was killing Leo silently, but he was going to keep at it. Because responding was going to worsen it.

The thought of Leo using their friendship to get to his sister didn't occur to him, but now he said it. Not to forget, he had mentioned having feelings for Jewel when he was high, even though he was sure Leo wasn't going to remember ever telling him that.

Now he couldn't take it anymore.

"She is my sister! I don't know what is going on between you two, the only thing I know is, it could destroy our friendship." Jayden says honestly. "I can't stand anyone hurting my sister, and trust me, I wouldn't want to know who was at fault, the fact she is hurt alone could make me mad. Jewel is a baby, she doesn't seem so to you, but she is, Jewel is childish..., "

"I really like her, I swear. I would never play any games with her, not only because she is your sister, but because I like her." Leo says slowly.

Jayden couldn't believe they were actually having this weird conversation.

"I know it looks bad. Going after my brother's girl. But Nathan is only after Jewel to hurt my feelings, he knows how much I like her and....., "

The rest of what he said didn't get
to Jayden's hearing. The only thing which stuck to his brain was Going after my brother's girl.

Now that reminded him that Jewel had a boyfriend, as she claims. Also, with what he had seen going on. But what was new was, Leo calling him his brother.

How come he never noticed?

Apart from the excuse of just joining them this term, he never noticed it. He never saw them speak. Besides, he didn't see much of Nathan.

The only person who got into his mind, was Jewel and what the heck she was doing with two brothers.

He didn't know the whole story, he had never been interested in anything, the way he was at this.

And the guilty look on Leo's face wasn't going to stop him from feeding his curiosity.

"What is going on between you and Jewel?" Jayden asks directly. He noted Leo blink twice before responding.

"It's complicated. Turns out she hates me." Leo says with all honestly.
"The only thing I know and will be honest to you about is, Nathan is doing everything to spite me..., "

"Dating my sister to spite you?" Jayden asks with a raised eyebrow. This was something he just didn't just understand. "Are you both playing games with my sister? Is Jewel is game or some..., "

"Jayden!" Leo calls out slowly, cutting him off. "I am not playing games with her," Leo says calmly, meanwhile Jayden, who didn't still understand what he was on about, only blinks twice.

He had many questions in his mind.

What was Jewel thinking, having something to do with brothers?

He didn't even know what else to say to Leo. He didn't see whatever was going on coming. That was the only thing he knew. Funny enough, it was surprising because he always observed or noticed things like this. This was the first time, he was absolutely clueless.

Leaning on the island, he smiles at the message for a while. He was openly smiling because of a message. He secretly liked the fact, he was all alone. If not, there had been questions on while he was smiling at himself like this.

Gidi
You are cute though

He couldn't stop smiling. It was not because of the compliment, but who gave it.

"I wonder what important thing you are doing with that phone, which made you choose to keep deaf ears when I called." This statement caught Jason's attention. He puts his phone away immediately, before giving his Mum full attention.

"I didn't ignore you, I didn't hear you." Jason defends, giving his Mum a small smile.

"Of course, you won't hear me. When you are inside that phone." His Mum says, clicking her tongue.

Jason chuckles slowly, before moving to his Mum.

"Do you need help?" He asks.

"No, thanks." She responds, pulling the frozen soup out of the freezer. Jason only moves back a bit, pulling his phone back.

"Get me that pot." His Mum says, making him turn to her, with a raised eyebrow, wondering if it wasn't the same person who didn't need help.

Jason pulls the pot, which looks like something she has brought out for that purpose, moving to where she stood, and drops it.

"I have been really busy since you three got..., "

"Mum, I will do better next term." Jason,, who sensed what she, was about to talk about says.

He watches his Mum take a deep breath, before speaking.

"It's Jewel, she didn't do well again. I don't know if you could help tutor her..., "

"Mum, you know that this development can't work. I and Jewel. You could ask Jayden instead." Jason kicks against it. Jewel was so annoying. Having this engagement with her was the last thing on his mind.

"Jason, she is your sister." His Mum says slowly.

"Mum, she is Jayden's sister too. For all we know, he does better than me," Jason argues.

"Baby!" His Mum calls out, trying to sound all cute.

"No, I am not falling for that." Jason drags on. He had always been the weaker link for his Mum, between him and Jayden. He sure knew Jayden, when he said No, there was nothing you were going to do, to make him change his mind.

"Come on. She seems to get worst by the term. She always has problems with all the tutors I hire." His mum complains. That was true, he couldn't count how many private tutors his Mum had sacked.

"Mum, no! Ask Jayden." Jason drags on. "Or better still get her a new tutor. You are going soft on her, that's what is going on." Jason says.

"Look, who is giving me parenting advice?" His Mum says, rolling her eyes funnily. She suddenly pauses. "Who is the boy who came to see your brother, how close are they?"

Jason noticed how interested she seemed.

"Your brother hasn't actually invited any friend over before, he doesn't mingle with people, you don't know how happy I am, this is huge progress, the therapist said...,"

"Mum, there is nothing wrong with Jayden. He knows what he is doing." Jason suddenly says, not interested in the topic. He didn't know why his mum worried about irrelevant things. Jayden was fine, it was very obvious he knew what he was doing. And one of them was causing confusion. He was supposed to be the eldest, but the rate of drama he caused would make it seem he was the youngest.

"I worry about you all. I am your mum after all..., "

"I don't know much about Leo, he is a classmate. I have been seeing him much with Jayden." Jason says honestly.

"I just hope he is a good kid." His Mum says

If only his Mum knew her son wasn't as innocent as he looked. He was shocked when he found out. At first, he was suspicious, but after spying, which was very low of him, but he was just curious. He knew that Jayden and Ivy were having sexual escapades.

"Mmmmh." Jason responds, pulling his phone out again.

"Baby, are you really going to turn Mummy down." His mum suddenly says.

"Mummy, that emotional blackmailing isn't going to work on baby this time." Jason says, trying to imitate his mum's voice. He gets a notification which made him look at his phone, he couldn't hide the smile which broadened.

"Jason." His Mum calls out slowly.

"Mummy, I hate to do this, stop making me a villain. I am turning you down." Jason says. He gathered the courage to do this. His Mum knew how difficult it was for him to turn her down. He knew she wasn't going to give up.

"I'm going to the saloon." His Mum says slowly.

"I am coming with you." Jason says immediately. Anything which would take him out of the house. He was more like her purse when they were going out.

He never missed the shocked look on people's face, when she introduces him as her son. She looked too long to have a child of his age, but what they didn't know was there was three of them. He could imagine the look on their faces now.

Staring at the message for the up tempt time, she finally taps to respond, but stops for a while. She quickly folds her legs.

She starts typing, but suddenly stops, bites her lips anxiously, erased what she had typed, start again, stops, uses both hands to cover her face anxiously. Bites her lips and drops her phone on the bed.

He wasn't even here, and she was this anxious.

She hadn't forgotten how she messed up by kissing him. What in God's name had possessed her.

She picks up the phone again. He sent her a message, she didn't know if she were to respond or ignore.

A sudden notification pops on her screen. Seeing Jason's name, she lets's out a small smile. He had gone back to his usual self, since they got back for the Christmas break. No one had talked about the kiss.

Jason🦋🦋
With my mom, in a salon.

She chuckles while she loads the picture of Jason in a wig.

She burst into laughter. He looked funny. The fact he looked like a girl, made her laugh so hard.

He was just so ridiculous.

Another message popped in

Jason🦋
Getting my nails done.

She smiles while she starts typing hastily.

"Send a pic."

He starts typing almost immediately.

Jason🦋
No

She starts laughing, meanwhile her door gets pushed loudly. She looks ahead immediately. Wondering who didn't care do knock, for all she knew, her parents weren't home.

Low and behold, Aaliyah stood at the doorway glaring at her, also holding a bowl of popcorn.

"What?" Geraldine half yells. "Why did you push my door like that, don't you have manners, I have always told you to knock." Geraldine says, the fact her sister just had a calm look on her face, like the yelling didn't affect her, made her mad.

"You should also keep your voice down. There are people in the house too, I was watching a movie, and you were disturbing me." Aaliyah blurts out without blinking.

How can a nine-year-old, be this saucy?

"Get out of my room!" Geraldine says feeling fragile to say more.

"I'm not in your room, look at the line. I am outside." Aaliyah says.

"Jesus, why is your mouth so sharp?" Geraldine mutters.

"Aaliyah. Shut my door and get out." Geraldine yells like an angry mad woman.

"No." Aaliyah says sharply. "Come and close it yourself."

"The nerve," Geraldine yell, almost getting up with force, but the door gets shut immediately.

"I swear, I would strangle you." She yells, throwing herself on her bed, now pulling her phone back.

The door gets pushed again, which makes her look up immediately. Only to see Aaliyah's smiley face.

"Aaliyah!" Geraldine yells.

"Geraldine?" She calls back poking, taking her neck to another corner.

Geraldine stares back at her, wondering what she did wrong, to get someone like Aaliyah around her. The girl was a temptation.

"Leave." As soon as she yells, the door gets shut again, in less than a minute, it gets pushed again.

"Aliyah, I am not joking with you."

"Gidi, I am not joking with you." She repeats, smiling.

"If I meet you there."

"If I meet you there," She repeats. This time around, Geraldine aims her power bank on her, she doesn't miss the spot. It lands on Aaliyah's head, then the floor, the popcorn drops. The next thing heard, is Aaliyah's loud cries.

"I missed you like crazy."

Jewel plays with a paper on the bed, while she listened to him. Deep down, the reason she had been avoiding him, was because of guilt. She cheated on him, not just once. She had been allowing Leo to kiss her, hold her hand, the last straw was when he deflowed her.

She messed up big time, she knew that.

How could she hide it from Nathan and still date him? She already told him she wasn't ready to have sex because she was still a virgin. What if she lets him gave his way, won't he figure it out.

So many thought kept going through her head. But the truth of the matter, was the guilt. It was eating her up. And the fact Leo hadn't stopped pestering her was another issue altogether.

She didn't know what else to do to him. She had been mean to him, insulted him, blocked him on social media. The only thing left was to report him.

What would she say?

He was harassing her, wasn't that too much?

She didn't know what to do with him anymore. She couldn't believe she just started dating and already having boy troubles.

"Jewel!" He calls out from the other end.

"I missed you too...,"
The door sound, gets her full attention. She looks ahead, only to meet Ivy's gaze.

She was back to the room again. Her Dad had specifically told her not to cause a scene with her mum, he would handle the situation later. She knew her Dad would never go against her Mum, but she hoped he would talk to her Mum.

She looks at Ivy from head to toe, before turning to another direction. No longer comfortable. She couldn't even make out what Nathan was saying anymore.

What brings her back to reality is when he ends the call. Confused, she removes her phone from her ear, and takes a good look at it.

She quickly, checks her Instagram, she sights several messages, but one picks her attention. He was at it again. He created a new account.

Did he think she wouldn't find out? That was what was going through her head while she blocked him.

___________________ 🖊️

You could smell the festivity in the air. It was Christmas day. The atmosphere seemed very bubbly. Everyone were clearly busy. Jayden hadn't stepped out of his room,, though. But the sounds he heard, showed there were activities going on in the house.

Pulling his phone closer. The first notification he sees is from a person he didn't expect.

OfficialGeraldineJohnson.
Merry Christmas, have a splendid day.

She finally responded. It was clearly a response to the message, Leo sent mistakenly. She saw it and ignored it because the message was seen. He didn't expect her to respond to it.

Slowly, he pulls his phone to himself.

Same.

He sends, and dumps the phone on the bed. He had to step out of his room, the thought of it made him sick. His mum wasn't going to let him stay by himself today, of all days. She did this every Christmas. Other days she let him be, but on the 25th, she always forced him out.

"Jayden!"

He heard his name as well the knock on his door, he was expecting it. He groans while getting up.

____________________ 🖊️

Geraldine gets up from the couch immediately she heard the sound from the gate and horn. It was obvious they had a visitor, and she had an idea of who it was. Her mum had already talked about them.

"Here it is!" Her Mum says while hurrying down the stairs, she hands Geraldine the wig which made her groan. Her mum forgot to book their hair stylist, and she ended up, not making her hair for Christmas, only God knew how much she hated wigs. Not only the fact did they constitute heat, they were itchy too.

"Big sis."

Geraldine looks up immediately, quite aware who it was. She knew the only person who referred to her mum as that.

"Look at you." Her mum says immediately, smiling out.

"Aunty Aurora." Geraldine calls out immediately, with a smile. She doesn't miss Cherish walking in pulling a mini bag, with her younger brother.

"The presidents' wife." Geraldine's aunt calls out to her, smiling. That was a title she gave her as a kid because she always wanted to pick the best every time they went out. She always chooses the nicest things. And her aunt would call her that, to mock her.

"How are you?" Geraldine's mum says to Cherish who greeted her, immediately. "Big boy." She calls out to her nephew, who just chuckles.

Geraldine only smiles when Cherish finds a place to sit. She knew it was a genuine mistake, Cherish didn't mean to ignore her mum deliberately, she was just tensed. She didn't expect to Cherish this year, though because she always spends Christmas with her maternal grandparents.

____________________ 🖊️

Jewel concentrates on chopping the onions while she eavesdrops on her grandma and mum's conversation.

She knew her grandma was furious because of how she acted. She couldn't help but wonder what was going on. Especially with how her mum and grandma were just busy whispering.

The way they talked whenever they were gossiping.

Gossips

She mutters to herself. The look on her grandma's face showed she was very upset, while her mum seemed to be persuading her.

"Mum!" Ivy calls out while she walks into the kitchen with grandma's phone. She slowly hands it to the elderly woman, while Jewel watched with her side eyes. She saw how her grandma drops the phone with anger now turning to her mum.

"What is she calling me for?" She yells in anger, picking Jewel's full attention.

"Mummy, calm down." Her mum says, trying to calm her grandma. "She clearly wants to wish you a Merry Christmas, just...., "

"Who says I want to talk to her, the fact she lived with that criminal's mother, I only ignored that, because of those kids. But this, moving in with that criminal, after what he did to our family? I won't accept that." Her grandma says. Now Jewel could connect the dots, she was referring to Ashley's mum. Aunty Fiasco.

"Mum, calm down." April tries to calm her Mother inlay, while Jewel, who seemed very interested in the conversation pays a close attention. She could remember Uncle Kenny as a kid. She grew up, knowing him. There was a time, she wanted him to be her Dad, then she hadn't met her real Dad. He was always nice to her.

She later found out he was in jail, also Ashley's Dad. There are so many secrets and issues in the family, she still didn't understand.

"What hasn't she done to bring shame to this family? Getting pregnant at the age of sixteen for that criminal. Letting herself get pregnant again for the same criminal, even while married to another man. Still seeing the criminal, even after him been part of the people who killed her father. What kind of child is she. I won't...,"
"You should try to talk to her...,"
"That boy killed her father, he planned her Dad's death. What kind of human being goes back to such man. I know my husband wasn't fair, but he didn't deserve to be killed like a chicken." Grandma says, in pain. It was obvious she was hurt. This wasn't the first time Jewel was hearing about her grandfather's death. But hearing Uncle Kenny had something to do with it, was surely the first time.

"The year's he spent in prison isn't enough, I wanted him to rot in there, suffer.,"
"For Ashley and Nicole's sake...," April says slowly. It was obvious she was torn between what to say and what not to say.

"I don't want anything to do with that boy, he is a criminal. Him been the father of my grandkids is enough."

____________________ 🖊️

"Get the bags from the truck." Ashley Dad instructs him while he gets out of the car. Meanwhile, Nicole runs straight to the house without talking to anyone.

If there was one thing he was anticipating, it was going to his grandma's place. He already made plans of inviting friends over, he knew she was not going to have any problem with it.

Pulling Nicole's bag pack, he closes the boot. He couldn't help but wonder what made a nine-year-old girl's bag so heavy.

He noticed his mum walk slowly to the house. She didn't seem elated or moved. If there was something he had noticed all this year's. It was the fact his mum and aunty Wendy weren't really close or a fan of one another. They were always neutral with each other.

"Big bro."

That was Uncle Tari's voice. His Aunt husband. Who smiled while he approached his Dad and him.

"Abi, you no day visit person again ba. (You don't visit to people again, right?)." His Dad says almost immediately, while Uncle Tari hurried to him, and shook his hand.

"You are looking good." Uncle Tari says, meanwhile Ashley doesn't utter a word, he allows them chat without interrupting.

"You too." His Dad responds with a smile.

"Ash!" Uncle Tari calls out, meanwhile Ashley let's out a small smile, it was obvious he was just noticing him.

"Good morning Sir!" Ashley greets slowly.

"You are now a big boy. You are getting taller by the day." Uncle Tari says with a smile, meanwhile he noticed his Dad let out a small smile.
"Hope you have been a good boy? Don't get yourself into any trouble." Uncle Tari says, tapping his bag. "Is he staying?" This time he was referring to his Dad.

"Not really. He is going over to his grandma." His Dad says, meanwhile his Uncle chuckles.

"The rate at with these kids love that woman eh, most times I wonder if it's the same Aunty Monica we grew up with." Uncle Tari jokes, meanwhile Ashley's Dad chuckles, while Ashley let's out a small smile.
"Your sister is in the kitchen." He concludes, while they approached the house.

"Give it to her."

The familiarity of the voice, made Ashley look up. The shock on his face after that couldn't be hidden. He noticed how she looked away shyly and quickly.

"Cherish, give it back." He heard his cousin call out.

____________________ 🖊️

"Uncle Kenny." Geraldine,, who couldn't hide her excitement, calls out. She had just finished exchanging pleasantries with her Aunt Fisayo, she hadn't noticed

"Look at Aunty Gidi oh." Uncle Kenny says, while she gives him a hug. She hadn't seen him since he got back. She only got the news.

"How are you doing?" She asks before he could ask her.

"I am good, dear. How is school?" He asks while they walk to the other corner of the sitting room.

"School is fine." Geraldine smiles.

"Kenny, I don't see anything in your hands' oh."

Geraldine recognized the voice Immediately. It was her mum been her usual dramatic self. She noted around her mum's siblings, her mum was always different. Always dramatic.

"That's the first thing you will tell me." Uncle Kenny says and chuckles, meanwhile Geraldine watches her mum, steal her uncle away from her, taking him to a corner.

The only thing she heard was.

"There is this necklace."

Her mum would never change. Always looking for who to extort.

Gidi found herself waiting for Jayden's message, while her mum and sister spoke. "Same, she felt the need to prolong the convo

Geraldine smiles while she brings out her phone from her pocket, seeing his message, she bites her lips. She was anticipating replying to him, before her uncle walked in.

She couldn't help but wonder how just a mere" Merry Christmas" could give her a tingling sensation.

Furthermore, she types almost ten times and cleans it, before typing something which sounded normal to her.

I'm enjoying the festive period, what about you?

After tapping sent, she almost screams of embarrassment, after reading what she had just sent. It seemed awkward. She couldn't help but wonder if he could tell how anxious she was by reading her text.

What was Jayden Adenuga doing to her?

A question she couldn't answer.

____________________ 🖊️

Ashley stands behind the door, relaxing on the wall. He saw her coming and this was his chance. Everyone were busy in the sitting room and kitchen, he knew no one would notice them.

Pulling he to his left-hand side, he noted she wanted to scream, and stops her by doing the worst thing he shouldn't have done, what had put the huge distance between them in the first place.

This was an honest mistake, he looks at her apologetically while he breaks this kiss. It wasn't intense, he didn't take it far, he just did it out of impulse to stop her from screaming.

He noticed how her face changed. Her skin color. Her cheeks turned pale red.

If there was one thing he knew, it was staying away from her wasn't working for him. He wanted her, he didn't just want to be friends. He wanted her to he is girl. Furthermore, he wasn't concerned about what anyone thought anymore.

She was childish, she was babyish, he didn't care anymore. She wasn't the kind of girl he rolled with, he didn't care anymore.

He could see the fear in her eyes, while she flinched from his touch.

"Do I scare you?" He asks without thinking. Those were the only words he could think of.

"I am sorry about the other day, I Couldn't control myself. I didn't have the right to do that, I am truly sorry." He says, not knowing what else to say, especially with how quiet she was.

"I still want us to be friends." He says slowly.

"Do you kiss all your friends like that?" She asks slowly. The question did throw him off guard.

"Huh? No!" He responds slowly.

"Then..., "

"I have feelings for you. I like you!" He says. "Don't be scared of me." He says, pulling her by the hand, thereby reducing the space between them. This time around, he noticed how hard she was trying to avoid his gaze.

He wasn't going to lose this opportunity. He was clearly getting a green light, he knew this because he had dealt with different girls, and could tell by the body language of a girl who didn't like him.

"You don't have to say anything now. I am not in a haste, you can always give me an answer later." He says, still holding her hand.

"Ashley!"

That voice sent chills into his body. He looks up only to meet the gaze of his Dad.

He could feel Cherish trembling, in his hands, that was when it dawned on him, he was still holding her hand.

___________________ 🖊️

"I will come to pick your mum after dropping you at your grandma's place." Ashley's dad says, meanwhile he licks his dry lips, wondering what his Dad had in mind, after meeting him and Cherish in such tight spot. Besides, he had decided not to go back over to his grandma's.

"I think I would just stay until new year eve." Ashley rushes his words, he took note of how slow his Dad turned to his direction.

"Thought you said there was no one here to talk to?" Now this sounded like an interrogation. He was still feeling awkward, his Dad hasn't been there for the past years. They had never had an agreement since he got back. He wasn't comfortable with the way his Dad looked at him.

"Geraldine is here." Ashley responds. Who was he fooling?

"How old is she?"

"Gidi? Sixteen." Ashley responds.

"Don't act dumb."

Now Ashley understood who he was referring to.

"Fourteen." Ashley's responds slowly.

"Leave that girl alone. That isn't what you came here to do. Leave girls alone, they are the biggest distraction. They can only bring you down at this stage of your life. Especially the younger ones. Learn from my mistakes." His Dad says now opening his car. Meanwhile, he couldn't help but wonder what mistakes his Dad was talking about.
"Because if you get any girl pregnant, it's on you! I will just hand you over to the girl's Dad, and tell him to deal with you, the way he sees fit." His Dad says.

This was the first real father and son conversation they were having. It was very awkward.

"It's not enough a girl sends you her nude during dinner, now this. Be careful." His Dad says slowly, meanwhile Ashley lets his mouth gasp open and close, he knew his Dad saw that. "I don't want any issues. She is here with Aurora, right?" His Dad asks slowly.

"Her husband's daughter." Ashley says slowly.

"Light daughter?" His Dad asks with a raised eyebrow. "Stay away from her. I don't want issues." His Dad spoke with authority.

His Dad suddenly stops and turns to him.

"With the way those eyes of yours are shining, Ashley, don't get any girl pregnant because I won't even pretend like I know you. I will hand you over to her parents. I am not joking. Furthermore, I don't want any scandal." His Dad says, looking very serious.
