Okay, I love our progress on this book, I hope we continue progressing, don't reduce my moral, this is the last chapter I have saved on my draft.

"Take care!" Tari says immediately he pulls over. This could be tagged as the most awkward ride, she has ever had with her Dad. They hadn't said more than four words to each other, since he hit the road. All the while Geraldine didn't know if she should say something or not. He also didn't look like he was in the mood for chats.

"Thank you!" Geraldine says now struggling to get down.

"Gidi!"

She stops, slowly she turns to her Dad, Geraldine didn't miss the worried look on his face. "Are you alright?" He asks with a raised eyebrow.

"Uhmm!" She hesitates a while, now taking a good look at him. "Yes!" She responds. Meanwhile, he suddenly tries getting something from the back seat, which after struggling for some seconds, he pulls out a fancy bag, handing it over to her.

"I got this on Monday, but totally forgot to give it to you," Tari says taking a good look at his daughter. He watches get take the fancy back from him, which he releases freely.

"Thanks, Daddy!" Geraldine says it was clear she was wondering what was in it.

"Don't call telling me you aren't a baby when you see what's in it. Because as far as I know, you are still my baby." Tari says, meanwhile Geraldine chuckles. She already had an idea of what was in the package, Her Dad would never change. "You know I always love you right? Call me if you need any.., "

"Dad, are you and Mum splitting up?" Geraldine suddenly asks, you could see the fear in her eyes. You wouldn't blame her, the statements her Dad made, seemed more like, that was the next thing he was going to say.

"What? No!"

Geraldine hives a sign of relief, now staring at her Dad.

"What gave you that impression?" He asks staring at her.

"You and Mum have been fighting," Geraldine says, meanwhile he gives her a look like he didn't understand what she was talking about.
"I saw you both the other day!" She says, watching his facial expression morph in realisation.

"It's not as bad as you imagined it. It's just a misunderstanding. Everything would be sorted out soon. Never put that thought in your mind, I would never leave you guys." He explains. Geraldine only nods her head.

"Let's go down. So I can sign in!" He says.

   Geraldine doesn't utter another word, she pushes the door, gets down, at the same time, her Dad does so. Immediately he goes to the boot, to get her provisions, while she holds the fancy bag. With just one thought. Finding a junior student to help her take her things to the dorm.

"Be a good girl."

Her Dad says, pulling her left check and dropping her provisions at the same time.

This was what she didn't like, whenever he made that statement and pulled her cheek, it made it look like she was a little child.

"Daddy!" She says and chuckles, meanwhile her Dad gives her one last place before heading to the admission block direction. She stares at him till he disappears into thin air.

She suddenly tenses up, immediately she feels an arm around her neck, which makes her turn around, only to meet Munachi's smiling face.

"Gidi!"

"Hey!" She calls out, now trying to calm her nerves. "You resumed early." Geraldine takes note.

"Been anxious to get back." Munachi smiles.

"Jewel!" Geraldine calls out involuntarily. Meanwhile, Jewel whose eyes were fixed on her, and was just a few steps away from them, continues walking obviously in their direction.

Geraldine watches her, with a lot of questions in her eyes. Munachi's eyes were on her too. You could see the shock on their faces when she walked past them without uttering a word.

Geraldine looked more than shocked if there was any other word to describe it. Jewel ignoring her on Whatsapp wasn't as painful as snubbing her facially.

"She heard you!" Munachi suddenly says, like she was trying to prove a point. Meanwhile, Geraldine stands unmoved.

The silence in the Assembly hall could make you wonder if you were in the wrong hall, but seeing the teacher on the podium, you weren't stupid to make a sound.

"I know we all enjoyed the mid-term break. And I hope we made good use of it, instead of willing away time." Mr John says.

The SS3 students could tell he was referring to them, the party thrown on both Friday nights weren't hidden.

"So, The FGISQC will commence soon. We hope the students representing us are up for it. Also, those participating should meet me in my office after school." Mr John announces.

There is a sudden noise, people muttering low key, you couldn't see those talking, but the noise seemed to be rising.

"Quiet down! Once you go into your classrooms, settle down, no noise making. Also, wait for your various teachers! Also, the principal wants to address you all." Mr John concludes.

    Tieing her shoelace, Jewel tries to relax on the desk. Hopefully, no one else was in the class, with the position she was seated, so rough, like she where in her Dad's sitting too.

It was assembly time, which she had skipped on purpose. Now she was contemplating looking for another seat. Because she couldn't seat with Munachi, also Geraldine, especially not after what she had done.

She had already made up her mind, to give Geraldine space. It sounded childish, Jewel knew she was been childish.

But those little things people tend to ignore, things which didnt make sense to people, those things did affect her. She was different, little things made an impact on her.

Calling Geraldine that night, she had decided to apologize for her recent behaviour and move on, but going to there group chat. A group chat she created just for both of them. She had even refused Geraldine adding Nengi, saying it was all girls zone.

Only to find out Geraldine had added Munachi, not just anyone but Munachi. She felt hurt and angry at that moment. Immediately she sent hey to the group, Munachi responded. She couldn't help but wonder why she hadn't noticed this development since.

She left the group, instead of replying to Geraldine's messages, she ignored them. Seeing them the next morning, she didnt bother reply, because she was scared of her reaction.

Seeing them together, she did hear, Geraldine call unto her. And honestly, she wanted to respond and stop, even though Munachi was in her company. But her mouth felt so numb, she couldn't even stop walking, when she got to there direction.

Jewel suddenly takes her leg down, immediately she sights Leo. She gets down from the desk immediately, very conscious of her environment.

She could feel his gaze on her's. Recalling the market incident, she turns to his direction. Now, he looked like his normal self. She abruptly starts feeling bizarre and uneasy.

"Hey!"

Jewel doesn't react. It takes her few seconds to tell he was speaking to her, not to overlook, they were both the only ones in the classroom.

She doesn't utter a word. Not because she didn't want to, but because she didn't know what to say.

He unexpectedly looks away, now picking his bag pack. She didnt miss the look of disappointment on his face.

"Leo! You said you were going to attend."

Jewel recognised the voice instantly. She had almost forgotten there was a girl named Ekanem who she couldn't stand at all.

She stylishly turns in her direction, only to see her heading directly to there seat.

Jewel's eyes suddenly meets the two buttons of her shirts, which were left undone, the shape of her boobs and part of it were left visible. Her type of boobs could make a guy stare, even when fully clothed, not to talk about it been exposed.

Jewel could swear, she saw Leo's eyes linger there that second, just that he looked away too soon.

"I was unwell. Sorry!" Leo responds.

Meanwhile, Jewel quietly faces her bag, simply wondering when those two started speaking. She finally remembers the video Ekanem had posted.

"You are lucky, I would have wasted you, the way I did to Jason!" She chuckles.

The name Jason abruptly picks Jewel's interest. Her brother Jason, was clearly the first person who got into her head.

Leo chuckles a bit. More like he understood what Ekanem was on about. But Jewel had no idea.

"Slow poison. Anyone who follows you might just get burnt." Ekanem says and laughs.

Maybe it was just a statement to her, but Jewel read more meaning to what she had just heard. She suddenly hears some steps, which seemed like someone was running off. It was clear, Ekanem was the one.

The classroom is abruptly quiet. She doesn't bother to look in Leo's direction but could tell he was few tables away.

She jerks, immediately she feels two strong hands wrapped around her waist. More like her eyes where about to fall off.

Different thoughts ran through her mind, on a normal day, she would have turned back and giving the idiot a hot slap. But the perfume felt oddly familiar, and his body felt dangerously relaxing.

"Jewel or Diamond."

It was Nathan.

Her heart starts beating. For the past four days, he had been calling almost every two hours, spamming her message box, with write up's which always brought a smile to her face. She even slept late from chatting with Nathan. She still found it had to believe she had finally gotten his attention. Wasn't it the same Nathan who didnt see like he noticed her few weeks back. It felt like a dream.

    He even went as far as posting the video she sent to him on Instagram, He clearly didnt know what that meant to her.

It wasn't because her followers increased due to the fact, he posted about her, but because of the way she felt about him.

She knew Nathan's Mum was a celebrity. She had only browsed about her once, and that was because she heard, she was Nathan's Mum. She didn't know much about her.

But she knew the lady was one of those celebrities whose kids also got attention on social media. Due to there own popularity.

"Hey!" Jewel says suddenly feeling uncomfortable, not just because of the giggly feeling she felt when he got close to her, but because they had company.

Immediately, he let's go of her, she turns to face him. She caught sight of Leo breaking eye contact.

"You didnt go for assembly!" It sounded more like a question than a statement.

Jewel who didn't have anything to say keeps mute. She couldn't understand what it was with her and been tongue-tied for the day.

"Nathan!"

Jewel watches him turn around, immediately his name was called. She took note of the girl in question. She was in art class.

"Wait here. I am coming." Nathan says to Jewel, who just stared back at him.

Of course, she was going to remain there, where else had she got to go.

She watched him look towards his right for a moment, before walking away. This reminded her, they still had company.

Leo on the other hand starts walking back to there seat. It was clear, he was waiting for Nathan to leave.

"I am sitting there." Jewel blurts out with confidence, clearly not thinking before speaking.

Her bitchy side was back, even without her notice. She was openly telling Leo, she was going to occupy his seat, without giving him an alternative. "You can take my seat." She says her voice tiny, immediately she noticed the look on his face. "Please."

She couldn't believe she just made that last statement, she just said please!

Now it was the height, she knew the reason she was been polite, which seemed very downgrading. This wasn't her talking. Her behaviour from the onset of the day has been appalling.

"Look, I know you helped me the other day, but that doesn't mean we are friends. Also, stop looking at me like I owe you anything." Jewel says without thinking about it beforehand. "Don't forget, I was the one who asked you to seat here in the first place, and currently I have no seat. You don't expect me to stand, even a foolish person won't do that." Jewel says more like she was rapping.

All this while Leo just stared back at her. Which made her uncomfortable, the only reaction he made was blinking his eyes twice, before finally responding.

"What happened to your seat?" He finally asks.

"In fact forget it. Nengi would move." Jewel suddenly says with a satisfactory look on her face. Meanwhile, Leo stared back at her. It was clear he was wondering if she was okay.

Because she was currently getting rid of Nengi's stuffs, sending it to her seat, and replacing it with her's.

What he didnt understand was why she was suddenly exchanging seats. Not to seat anywhere, but next to him.

  Cherish almost screams her lungs out, immediately she bumps into something, she couldn't tell what he hit her head with, but the pain was just too much.

With the way she felt. She could scream at the person. The same way she took her face up, that was how she brought it down, immediately their eyes met.

"Sorry!" She mumbles, clearly waiting for him to yell at her. She had always known he didnt like her at all.

She wasn't stupid to wait for an apology, even when it wasn't her fault.

"You want to use that you big ogor and break my hand ba?" Ashley suddenly asks.

She wanted to look at his face, but couldn't bring herself to do so. She just wanted to look at the heartless being but was scared of doing so. She could bet he was smirking.

"Sorry!" She repeats again, hoping he left.

"Next time don't watch where you are going to, you would crash into the wall very soon," Ashley says, with that he walks away.

Cherish stands rooted at a spot, she slowly takes her hand to her head. The pain she felt. She didnt know what he was holding that hit her that hard, she knew she had to control herself because the rate of her bursting into tears at any moment was high.

Geraldine stares into the space, without uttering a word. She could hear Nengi taking, although she looked like she was listening, but wasn't paying attention.

She takes her eyes down to her food, before turning to him. Munachi had been summoned by Mr John, so she couldn't join them for break. It was clear the reason he called her, had to do with the upcoming FGISQC.

Geraldine couldn't help but stare so hard at Jewel. It was evident Jewel hadn't noticed her yet.

She was trying so hard to comprehend the person standing there. She wondered how someone could transform so much and rapidly, in such a short period of time.

Jewel had changed so much. She didnt look like she was there to eat or anything, because she stood at a corner, clearly paying attention to whatever Nathan was saying. The only thing Geraldine wanted to know was what Jewel had against her. Her behaviour towards her, was overlooked, not after this morning.

To top it all, Jewel had changed her seat. She was now sitting three seats away. It was now she, before Munachi, then Nengi, you get Jewel, lastly Leo.

Since morning, she hadn't been able to focus. She had been thinking of possible reasons why Jewel had not ignored her on WhatsApp but facially. Jewel was her best friend. She would be lying if she said, this wasn't taking a toll on her.

Her best friend walking past her and ignoring her.

Taking her head up, only to see Jewel was out of sight, she could see Nathan heading to his normal seat, with his crew.

"Gidi!"

The sudden mention of her name, picks her attention, clearing reminding her, she had got company.

"What happened?" Nengi asks with a look of concern. She attempts to talk, but immediately she sees Jayden.

It seemed like, someone had taken sugar from her mouth. Her mood suddenly turns sour. Seeing he also had a company, who did spite her, it looked like the day, wouldn't get worse than it already was.

She couldn't just understand. While the presence of two people could spoil her mood. Ekanem looked so engrossed in whatever she was explaining to him.

    Leaning close to the wall, Geraldine hugs her chemistry textbook tightly to her chest. She wouldn't deny the fact, of been anxious and pressured for the upcoming competition.

Pressured, not in the sense of been forced or having no interest. But being scared and wanting to give it her best, in other to bring back the trophy home. Fully aware not just representing the state, the school needed that trophy. It hasn't been funny, getting close to winning, and suddenly looses.

Due to the tension at home, no one spoke about it, her Dad had signed the approval form immediately she presented it to him.

"Buffff!"

Geraldine almost jumps off her skin immediately she heard this. Her heart beating rapidly. She let's her textbook fall off, while she holds her chest, trying to breath fine.

"Oh boy!" Jason exclaims and start laughing. The look on Geraldine's face is priceless. Only God knew how she was holding herself back from giving him a slap across his face.

"Are you insane?" She asks giving him a serious look.

"Sorry! Didn't know you could get this scared. It was just a joke!" Jason confirms, he still had this calm look on his face.

Geraldine only rolls her eyes in response, it was clear she hadn't bought his apology.

"What are you even doing alone in the dark?" Jason suddenly asks, meanwhile Geraldine looks around. It wasn't extremely dark. The dim light's still reflected on where she stood.

"Supervising prep!" She responds casually. "I am on duty."

"I can see the students!" Jason says sarcastically. "You guys self. Just today school resumed." Jason says now serious.

"Order from above," Geraldine says.
This makes Jason nod his head, clearly indicating he understood what she meant.

Geraldine let's out a smile immediately she sights a band on Jason's left wrist. Meanwhile, Jason who noticed her smiling, gives her a look, which was clear, he was somehow lost, only to be pulled back to reality, by the pains he felt on his hand.

Geraldine had clearly used the band on him.

"Baby, you would tell me what you are doing with rubbers," Geraldine says with a mock smile, she attempts to walk away but gets pulled back by Jason, who whines her left hand, making her scream in pain, at the same time using her right to land a hot slap on Jason's back.

Immediately she does this, she takes off, when she gets to a distance, she stops, turns back to him, and uses her both hands to tell him to "Take Five"

Meanwhile, Jason let's out a small laughter at the same time making a statement.

"Just be running. I shouldn't just catch you." He chuckles. Geraldine continues her race, even without responding. It was clear she is headed towards the dorm, even though it wasn't yet time. She was sure breaking the rules.

To her, rules were created to be broken, but most times you break them codedly. She had a lot of things on her mind. She hadn't felt this way in such a long time, sad and distressed. First, her parents were having issues, this wasn't the first time she saw them fight, but this just seemed oddly different from the others. Jewel ignoring her without giving her an explanation, which she had decided to confront her about, coupled with the tension she first regarding the competition.

What she just needed at that moment was a cool bath and sleep.

"I met a boy on her bed!" Aunty Flourish says with a scary look on her face, which makes Cherish shiver, immediately her gaze meets that of her Mum's intense one's. It was clear, her Mum was still trying to wrap her hands around what she had just heard.

"Can you see the moral upbringing? What do I expect from a child bringing up a child?" Aunty Flourish barks at Aurora.

"Cherish how old are you? Fourteen." Aunty Flourish says. "Fourteen for Christ sake, and I met a boy on your bed, not a church member, not a classmate, not your age mate, a boy of that age." Aunty Flourish barks, all this while Cherish stared at the floor, shivering at her words.

"Cherish, go into your room!" Her Mum suddenly says, sending chills to her body, she also noticed Aunty Flourish had stopped talking. Her Mum and Aunt having a staring contest.

Avoiding her Mum's gaze, because the disappointment in her eyes were evident. She attempts to move back but stops immediately a statement is made.

"What should I expect from you? You just told her to go into her bedroom after I told you I met a boy on her bed!" Aunty Flourish barks, now demonstrating in a mock manner.

"Isn't she my child? I would handle her my way..., "

"If she were to be your biological child, you won't be saying this. It's not her fault. Her poor Mum would have done better." Aunty Flourish barks.

This last statement sent chills into Cherish body, it was her mistake not her Mums, the fact her aunt was blaming her mum, and bringing up her late Mum's, made her feel hurt, to top it all she could see the effect it had on her Mum.

"Very soon she would start bringing men into this house."

Tari is still as sweet as he has always been, always spoils the women in his life😭😭😭 Gidi, is lucky to have such Dad, someone she could be free with.

Wendy and her Dad Kelvin relationship was way jovial than this, I remember.

Nothing last forever, the only thing I know is if Gidi's parents do split, it would have serious effect on not just her but her siblings.
