"We got somebody on us." Topper says

Sarah turns, "That's JJ and Estrella."

Estrella looks behind them, "Jay!"

"I know. I know." He says. He revs his engine and speeds up to ride alongside Topper's truck

"What is he doing?" Topper yells

"I don't know." Kie says

Estrella and JJ turn to the others sitting in the back. Pope's eyes widen, "What are you doing?"

"Top, keep going straight." JJ yells

"Y'all be careful. All right?" Pope says leaning on the edge

"Topper, hold it steady." Sarah yells

"I'm trying."

JJ turns toward Estrella, "Get ready to jump."

"What?" She exclaims

"What?" Pope yells

"I'm not leaving you. Have you lost your mind?" Estrella says

"Probably! Get ready to jump." He says

"Come on. Come on." Pope says holding his hands out as JJ gets closer to the truck, "I've got you. I've got you. Come on."

Estrella groans knowing she didn't have much of a choice. She stands up slowly steadying herself by putting her hands on JJ's shoulders.

Kie leans out of the window, "Estrella, what are you doing?"

Estrella stands up and place her foot on the truck. Pope grabs her hand, "Easy, easy now. Be careful."

She jumps forward slightly while Pope pulls her in. She lands on top of the box holding the cross. Pope keeps his hands on her until she sits upright, "You okay?"

"Yeah." She says while Charlotte holds her hand. She slides down and sits fully in the trunk beside Pope.

Estrella turns when she hears tires screeching. Her heart speeds up when she realizes JJ had stopped and turned toward the cops following them.

"What's he gonna do?" Cleo says

"I don't know. I don't think he knows either." Pope says as JJ leans over and grabs a rock

"He's trying to get killed." Charlotte breathes

"JJ!" Estrella yells as they get further and further away from him. She assumed he hadn't heard her, but he did. JJ shut his eyes for a second knowing if he thought about her any longer he would turn around.

He takes a deep breath before opening his eyes, "Let's dance."

The teens hear his engine rev before he takes off toward the cops. As soon as JJ got close enough, he throws the rock at the windshield and shatters it. The cop slams on the breaks and makes a u-turn.

"He did it! They're chasing him." Pope says

"Shit." Charlotte breathes

"Oh God." Estrella mutters

"Topper, stop. Stop the truck." Estrella hears Sarah say

"Oh my God. I'm not stopping the truck." He says

Estrella turns and hits her hand on the roof, "Hey! Stop the truck."

"Stop the truck!" Kie says

"We're going to get JJ." Sarah says

"Come on, man!" Pope yells

"I'm not going to jail for y'all. No chance." Topper says

"Stop the truck. Please." Sarah pleads

"All right. All right, damn it! All right. All right." Topper says stopping the truck

"Turn around!" Estrella and Pope yell

"I'm not going... I'm not going to jail."

"Topper, look at me." Sarah says, "They're gonna arrest him. We can't leave him behind."

"Damn it. Damn." He mutters before turning around

"Go faster. You need to go faster." Kie says

"I'm trying."

"Let's go!" Pope says

"Move it!" Estrella yells

"I'm risking my life for this shit." Topper says

"It's gonna be fine." Sarah reassures

Pope stands up, "Turn left!"

"No, I'm not-"

"Yes, you are." Estrella yells

"Go! Yes! Yes! Topper!" Sarah says

"No. I'm getting out of here." He tries before Sarah leans over and turns the wheel herself

When they turn, Estrella stands up beside Pope. They finally see JJ on his bike with the cops right behind him, "There he is. What is he doing?"

"Turn right." Estrella yells

"Okay!" Topper says as he turns. Estrella holds onto Pope's arm to keep herself steady.

"No way, he's up on the overpass." Estrella says to Pope as they get closer to the overpass. Seconds later, JJ's bike flies from the overpass destroying the railing on the side. Topper stomps on his breaks. Estrella's heart beats fast in her chest, "Pope, go!"

"Go, go!" Cleo yells as they all jump from the trunk. The other three hop out of the truck.

Estrella pants as she looks around, "Jay. Jay!" She runs over to look by the overpass, "Jay?" Where is he?"

"Shit!" Sarah says

"No, no, no, no. JJ? Jay!" Estrella says as her breathes become faster. She turns towards the others, "Where is he?"

"Maybe he's up on the bridge." Pope says

"No, no, no." Estrella says as she squats down. Her hands go through her hair as she grips onto her roots. She can feel herself start to become panicked as she sat there. Her heart felt as though it was going to leap out of her chest and she felt herself become nauseous.

Charlotte looks over and her eyes go wide as JJ walks over with his hat in his hands, "I wish I could say I did that on purpose, but.." He starts. Everyone's heads snap over, "that was the gnarliest powerslide I've ever done."

"You're alive!" Pope chuckles running over and pulling him into a hug, "Dude!"

"I know, I'm surprised too." He says as Estrella stands up holding her hand to her chest

"Shit, that was gnarly." Topper says

"That was trucking, dude." JJ says as Sarah pushes him before pulling him into a hug, "Oh Jesus. Oh God."

"We really thought you did it this time, Jay." She says

"The pleasantries are nice, but we should get out." Pope says as Sarah pulls away

"Yeah, yeah, let's roll." Topper says before the others run to the truck

Estrella pants as JJ approaches her. His face falls as he sees her tear stained cheeks. She looks up at him, "Don't... don't ever do that again."

JJ slides his hat on his head before wrapping one arm around her shoulders and pulling her to his chest, "I'm sorry." He mumbles into her hairline. Estrella lets out a deep breath as she shuts her eyes.

"Hey!" A cop yells making them pull away, "Hey, you kids, don't move."

"Go!" JJ says pulling Estrella toward the truck. The two pile into the truck before Topper drives off.

"Shit, they definitely called it in." Topper says

"Top, Top! Turn here!" JJ says tapping his shoulder, "Turn here!"

"Don't touch... don't touch the driver, man."

"Topper, just turn around." He says reaching forward again

Sarah smacks his hand, "Stop. He said don't touch the driver!"

Estrella reaches forward and grabs his hands. JJ finally sits back as Topper turns to them, "It's a liability."

"Then go faster." Charlotte and Cleo yell

"If I go faster, that's gonna draw attention." Topper says

"Yeah, I feel like that ship has sailed at this point." JJ says

"You guys are a nightmare. Do you argue about absolutely everything?"

"Put the pedal to the metal, boy!" Cleo says

"Yes!" Pope says

"Maybe punch it a little bit. You're going 65!" JJ adds

"All right. Screw it. Here we go."

"Let's just go faster." Sarah says

"There you go." JJ says as he stomps on the gas, "That's what I'm talking about."

The teens are jerked around as Topper hits a bump. He steps on the brakes as the cross flies from the trunk.

"Stop, stop! We lost the cross!" Pope yells before pushing the door open

"Shit." Estrella says

"Great, Topper." JJ says opening the door on his side

"You guys told me to go faster."

The teens all jump out of the truck and walk over toward the box. Pope opens the box and the teens go silent.

"What the hell?" Kie says

"Shit." Pope mutters, "It's fake. It's all a freaking fake."

"Of course, we did." JJ says as Pope kneels beside the box, "Of course, we stole a fake."

Estrella kneels beside Pope placing her hand on his shoulder, "Pope, I'm so sorry."

JJ places a comforting hand on Pope. The teens look up when they hear sirens wailing

"Y'all hear that? Okay, I can't be here. My grandfather's a judge." Topper says

"Dawg, would you relax?" JJ says, "They're not gonna think some dude in flip-flops is a part of a robbery, okay?"

"Oh yeah, with the crate sitting right next to my truck."

"I'm sure we'll be fine."

"Pope, we gotta go." Kie says

"Y'all coming?" Topper says

"Pope." Estrella says softly, "Pope, we gotta go. We're gonna find it, okay? We'll find it later."

"Pope, we gotta go." JJ says as Estrella helps Pope to his feet and leads him to the truck

"Come on. Come on."
