"So this is what we're doing, huh? We're just sailing out." JJ says, "We're just gonna forget about John B? We should never have left him. We're turning back."

"No! We're all gonna get caught." Cleo says, "What type of plan is that?"

"It's a plan to stick together, Cleo."

"Then we are dead together." Cleo snaps

"She's right." Kie says, "We had to leave, or we'd all be zip-tied in the back of a pickup. We did the right thing."

While Estrella appreciated Kie's words, she felt terrible. They had all gone through so much to rescue Kie and herself and although they had no choice but to leave him, it didn't make her feel any better. She lets out a sigh as she continues to look out into the water. She turns back as the phone starts to ring, "Who's that?"

"It's Portis." Kie says

"Portis? That's John B." JJ says running over and grabbing the phone, "That's definitely John B. Hold on. Yo! Dude! Is this you?"

"Speaker. Speaker." Kie says

"What... Do you need us to turn around?" JJ says before pulling the phone away and putting it on speaker, "Yo, say it again. Say it again."

"I said don't worry about me, okay? Look, it's way too hot here. You gotta get out of here. Go back to OBX."

"We do not copy. Can you..."

"Let me talk to him." Sarah says taking the phone, "John B?"

"Sarah." He says, but his voice comes out distorted

"Are you okay?"

"Yes. I'm fine. Everything's good. Listen."

"He's fine. Thank God." She says, "What happened?" As soon as John B speaks, the phone begins to break up. Sarah frowns, "Wait. What'd you say? John B?"

"Sarah?"

"I... I can't hear you." She says, "John B?"

"Get out of there. I'll meet you on Kildare, okay?"

"Kildare, when? Kildare.." Sarah tries until the phone hangs up, "John B! No, no, no. John B!"

"Kildare. What the hell?" Estrella says

"You guys think he found his father?" Cleo asks

"He's been missing for almost a year." Pope adds

"Sarah, what do you think?" Kie asks, "Should we go back?"

"Sarah... We're sitting ducks. We need to make a decision. Are we turning back around, or are we gonna keep going?" JJ says. When Sarah stays silent, he groans, "Sarah, come on! Sarah, we need to make a decision!"

"He said go." She says

"Hold on, listen-"

"Go."

"Sarah."

"Go!" She says before walking away. JJ shuts his eyes in frustration before starting the boat again and continuing on.

"So you sure you didn't tell him where the diary is?" JJ asks

"What? You think I'm a snitch or something?" She chuckles making JJ smile, "Kie told him she saw it, but she didn't tell him where."

"Why does Singh want it so much?"

"Singh said that he thinks the diary has a clue to the location of some city of gold." She shrugs, "Like the gold on the Merchant was just a small part of it."

"Okay, so the diary we have leads to a 500-year-old treasure that no one's ever found?"

"Pretty much." She nods

"I'm in. It's kind of like my best option at this point, so..." He trails off, "Definitely beats geometry class."

"Yeah, beats being homeless."

"I mean, I don't even know what'll happen when we get back to the OBX. Nothing good. I can tell you that." JJ says, "Nothing good."

"Shit is going to suck for like a year."

"At least you don't got a restitution, though. No job. No parents."

"I'm apart of the no parents club."

"Yeah, arrows are going to be coming in hot." He says as she looks over at him, "But you know what we do when arrows come flying?"

"Bing. Ding, ding, ding! Ding!" He says mimicking blocking arrows, And you shoot right back at them. And that spear comes at you, you plant, grab, disarm, straight into the jugular, finish them off like..." He yelps. Estrella couldn't help but to smile as she watched him. His jumping around reminded her of how they were before the gold happened.

It gave her a sense of comfort to feel somewhat normal again. Even if they were stranded in the middle of the ocean. It was amazing to her that JJ could make her feel normal despite their circumstances.

When JJ stands back up, he stumbles almost losing his footing, but Estrella holds him up by his waist. He holds his arms out pinning her up against the wheel.

"Just one by one. We'll defeat them all." He finishes

Estrella's eyes scan his face, "You know, whatever happens, we're gonna handle it together. Like we always do."

"Estrella." He mutters as he subconsciously leans closer

"Hey." Pope says. The two pull away quickly and turn to find Pope standing at the top of the stairs. Estrella immediately notices the smile creeping up on his face, "Just wanted to let you guys know that we should probably stop for gas."

"Right." JJ says clearing his throat, "Yeah."

Pope nods with a smile before heading back down the stairs. Estrella tucks her hair behind her ear as she looks up at JJ, "We'll stop for gas."

"Stop for gas." He nods as she takes a seat beside the wheel

Charlotte sat on the bow as the sun set. The others were scattered around the boat. Conversations blossomed between them while they waited to come up at the port. The girl looks over as someone sit beside her. Charlotte smiles as Kie turns to her, "Hey."

"Hey." She says, "Just wanted to check on you."

"I'm okay."

"Are you sure?"

Charlotte nods, "Well, I mean it is kind of concerning that when we get back to OBX, I'm not gonna have anywhere to go."

Kie looks down, "You don't think you'd wanna go back with your grandmother?"

"I don't think so." Charlotte says shaking her head, "I feel a lot safer with you guys despite everything."

Kie smiles, "That might be the craziest thing I've ever heard you say."

As Charlotte laughs, Kie couldn't help but to keep her eyes on her. For majority of the time she was taken away from her friends, Kie couldn't stop thinking about Charlotte. She couldn't stop thinking about seeing her again and finally being around her.

"I missed you." Kie mumbles

Charlotte turns to her, "What do you mean?"

"While Estrella and I were taken.." Kie says, "I thought about you a lot."

Charlotte brows furrow lightly, "Really?"

"Yeah."

"I missed you too." Charlotte says softly

Kie's smile widens causing Charlotte to smile uncontrollably. Kie looks away as she feels her cheeks start to get warm.

Pope and Cleo went to get gas and food for the others. As soon as they got back, JJ jumped down to fill the tank. Pope and Cleo gave what food they could get to the others. Pope walked over to Estrella holding out a bag of chips.

Estrella looks down and furrows her brows, "I didn't say I wanted anything."

"I know." He says as she takes it from him. He sits beside her as she turns the bag in her hands reading the packaging, "So.."

"So.." She mutters opening the bag

"What was that that I saw earlier?" He says, "With you and JJ?"

Estrella sighs to herself as Pope chuckled beside her. She eats a chip before turning to him, "I knew you'd bring that up."

"Obviously." He shrugs, "Did I cockblock?"

"No, shut up, Pope." She grimaces

Pope's smile widens, "It was something. I saw it, okay? You guys almost kissed."

Estrella shrugs popping another chip in her mouth. She turns to Pope feeling his eyes on her and raises his brows. She sighs, "Yeah, maybe."

"And?"

"And nothing happened." She says, "He fell into me and I caught him. Then you showed up."

"So, I did cockblock?"

"Will you stop saying that please?" She says shutting her eyes

"Okay, well I interrupted something." He says. She shrugs again before digging in her chip bag, "Did you wanna kiss him?"

"I don't know."

Pope's brows raise, "You don't know?"

"No, I don't know." She sighs, "The last time we kissed, it ended badly."

"Well, yeah, but now there's no ulterior motive. You would've kissed because you wanted to." Pope says, "And you trust him, right?"

"I'd be stupid not to." She says, "He saved my life like a million times after that."

"Okay, then." Pope says, "So the almost kiss was a good thing, Estrella. You're moving in the right direction."

"I guess we'll never know now. Cockblocker." She says eating another chip

"Oh, so you can say it?" He says making her laugh. She looks up as JJ hits the side of the boat climbing on.

"Alright, people. Let's roll." He says

Estrella watches him climb up to the steering wheel. Pope eyes her watching as a small smile spreads across her face.
