We Only See Each Other at Weddings and Funerals
"It's hard to believe that a mansion with over sixty rooms doesn't even have a single stale coffee bean."
"What isn't hard to believe is that our moron siblings managed to destroy the statue of Ben at dad's funeral." Five said as he pocketed the car keys, walking towards the oh so familiar donut store he used to visit often as a kid.
The funeral that had been planned for their deceased father was a damp squib, and the usually cheery girl was left pissed for a good eight minutes at the foolish and immature actions of her brothers (Diego and Luther).
She had scolded them with such a calm yet frightening grin that they were frightened, like a pair of four-year-olds that had seen a crazed bloodthirsty clown in a drain.
Five remembers the sickly sweet tone that the platinum blond had used like his own mind, it was interesting as he only rarely ever saw her so....disgruntled.
Addison pushed open the glass door to Griddy's donuts, a happy little chiming noise filling their ears.
"Ladies first." Five rolled his eyes playfully at the platinum blond's words, entering first and unexpectedly grasping her hand; pulling the chuckling girl in easily.
The duo seated themselves by the unoccupied counter, the brunet tapping the little silver bell twice before clasping his hands; the other quickly busying herself a dull butter knife that had been set out.
Addison decided against throwing it, and instead placed it in her lap (and out of view) exchanging grins with the middle-aged man who had just entered; Five's eye twitching slightly as he sat beside him, even though there were at least six other free tables.
Away from them.
Moments later a woman in a bright pink uniform stepped into view, seemingly puffed, wiping her hands on the dress and chuckling tiredly as she apologised.
"I'm sorry for the wait, the sink was clogged. So, what'll it be?"
She quickly wrote down the man's order (chocolate éclair) on a little square notepad she had pulled out of her apron pocket, waving the end of the pencil towards the pair of apparent teens.
"Can I get the kids a... glass of milk or something?"
The brunet let an innocent dimpled grin take over, speaking through the temporary silence.
"The kid wants coffee. Black."
"And this kid wants some orange juice!" Addison added cheerfully as she poked the little dip on the old teen's face, receiving a sarcastic eye roll.
"Your dimples are adorable!" The pale thin lips of the elderly waitress tugged up towards the ceiling, remarking about how the teens were 'a cute couple' before leaving to grab their orders.
Plates clattered quietly in the background as Five turned towards the man beside him.
"Don't remember this place being such a shit-hole."
"I second that." The platinum-haired girl added, harmlessly running her finger across the side of the butter knife under the wooden counter.
"We used to come here as kids." The brunet turned to the other side and gave a nostalgic smile.
"Used to sneak out with our brothers and sisters, and eat donuts 'till we puked."
"I remember! Ben was always the first to upchuck."

"Okay, here are the rules. Every time the question applies to you, you eat a donut; ready? I'll go first!" Teen Klaus exclaimed with excitement, staring at the donuts like it was his final meal.
"Never have I ever directly disobeyed dad?" To nearly no one's surprise, everyone but Luther inhaled their donut of choice.
"When did you disobey father?" Addison asked through her mouthful of glazed donut, even with her inhumanely fast metabolism it was best to stick to the less sugary donuts; gave her a better chance of being the last to puke.
Anyways, original was always the best; no doubt.
Vanya seemed to hesitate for a moment, speaking with a quiet and timid voice that may not have been heard if the blond teen hadn't shushed Klaus and Ben.
"He told me to stop playing the violin so late in the night."
"Ahh-"
"-and so I played fuck off in front of him."
"Bwahaha! You go girl!" A shy grin of pride graced her features before dispersing quickly, Diego asking the next question.
"Never have I ever...fallen in love with a sibling." Addison and Five pushed a donut into their mouths, Allison and Luther attempting to be discrete as they picked one off their plates as well.
"You group of lovebirds." Ben said with a wide grin, giggling.
About half an hour later the poor raven-haired boy was outside, spilling his guts out onto the once stainless concrete; and unfortunately for the maids, right by the large glass window.
—
"Simpler times, huh?"
"I.. er.. I guess so." The trucker replied confusedly, blinking thrice; thinking.
They're still kids...
"I got theirs." The man dug out a ten-dollar bill as the waitress placed their orders in front of them, Five thanking him verbally; Addison tipping her fedora as she sipped through the paper straw.
He then glanced down, eyes locking onto the logo that had been sewn to the puffy jacket the trucker wore.
"You must know your way around the city."
The platinum blond grinned, taking another sip.
What is he up to now?
Five continued to chat with the man for an odd minute or so, nodding him goodbye as he left; engine roaring noisily to life outside.
"So, question time."
"Question time?"
"Come on dear, you disappear for multiple years and then suddenly appear again; regressed to the body of your fifteen-year-old self.
Don't expect me to not ask questions." The old teen grinned, reaching forwards and tucking away a misplaced hair on his beloved's head.
"It's a long story."
The front door creaked open, the two glancing at the silver bell; which reflected the warped images of several men.
"And now is not the time to explain love."
The blond pouted, emptying her glass juice with a single slurp.
"That was fast."
"Me practically inhaling my juice or..." He deadpanned her a look.
"I'm assuming you thought that you had more time before they" Addison nodded towards the men "found you for whatever reason?"
"Spot on."
A black-skinned man who was clearly nervous stepped towards the two, his large rifle aloft and cocked.
"Okay, so let's all be professional about this; yeah? On your feet and come with us, they want to talk. You too little girl."
"Little girl?! Excuse me but I'm nearly 5'5!"
Five sighed almost disappointedly, eyes still fixated on his unfinished coffee; receiving the blunt butter knife that the blond was sliding into his open hands underneath the counter, the handle still warm from Addison's tight grasp.
"I've got nothing to say."
The man spoke again, the blond spying his quivering finger from the corner of her eye; placed on the trigger.
"It doesn't have to go this way. Do you think I want to shoot a kid? Maybe even two? Go home with that on my conscience?"
Five smirked.
"Well, I wouldn't worry about that.
You won't be going home."
Addison almost laughed out loud as he blinked and stabbed the man in the neck, the soft part that ensured death, rounds taking flight and slicing through the air; almost hitting her as she ducked down.
She grinned playfully, grasping her glass cup and chucking it towards one of the unfortunate men.
You little fucker.
